David wird König über ganz Israel

1 Aus allen Stämmen ´im Gebiet des Reiches` Israel kamen ´Gesandte` zu David nach Hebron. Sie sagten zu ihm: »Auch wir gehören zu deinem Volk.^[1] 2 Schon früher, als Saul noch unser König war, hast du Israels ´Heer` in den Kampf geführt und ´siegreich` wieder heimgebracht. Der HERR hat zu dir gesagt: »Du sollt mein Volk weiden ´wie ein Hirte seine Schafe`, du sollt Israels Herrscher sein.« 3 König David schloss vor dem HERRN einen Bund mit den führenden Männern Israels, die sich in Hebron versammelt hatten. Dann salbten sie ihn zum König über Israel. 4 David war dreißig Jahre alt, als er König wurde. Er regierte vierzig Jahre lang, 5 siebeneinhalb Jahre über Juda in Hebron und dreiunddreißig Jahre über Israel und Juda in Jerusalem.

David erobert Jerusalem

6 Nachdem David König geworden war, zog er mit seinen Männern nach Jerusalem. Die Jebusiter, die damals noch dort wohnten, verhöhnten ihn: »In unsere Stadt werdet ihr nicht hineinkommen! Selbst Blinde und Lahme könnten euch vertreiben!« Sie waren sich sicher, dass David die Stadt nicht einnehmen würde. 7 Aber David eroberte die Festung Zion, die von da an »Davidsstadt« genannt wurde. 8 Am Tag ´des Angriffs` sagte David: »Wer die Jebusiter besiegen will, muss durch den Wasserschacht in die Stadt eindringen^[2]. ´Beseitigt` diese Blinden und Lahmen, denn sie sind mir verhasst!^[3]« So entstand die Redensart: »Blinde und Lahme kommen mir nicht ins Haus!« 9 David machte die Festung zu seiner Residenz und nannte sie »Davidsstadt«. Er baute ´Jerusalem` um die Festung herum aus, vom Millo^[4] an stadteinwärts. 10 So wurde David immer mächtiger, denn der HERR, der allmächtige Gott, stand ihm bei. 11 Hiram, der König von Tyrus, schickte eine Gesandtschaft zu David, zu der auch Zimmerleute und Steinmetze gehörten. Sie brachten Zedernholz mit und bauten David einen Palast. 12 Daran erkannte David, dass der HERR ihn als König über Israel bestätigt und sein Königtum aus Liebe zu seinem Volk zu hohem Ansehen gebracht hatte.

Weitere Söhne Davids

13 Nachdem David von Hebron nach Jerusalem gezogen war, heiratete er noch weitere Frauen und Nebenfrauen und bekam noch mehr Söhne und Töchter. 14 Davids Söhne, die in Jerusalem geboren wurden, hießen: Schammua, Schobab, Natan, Salomo, 15 Jibhar, Elischua, Nefeg, Jafia, 16 Elischama, Eljada^[5] und Elifelet.

David schlägt die Angriffe der Philister zurück

17 Als die Philister hörten, dass David zum König über Israel gesalbt worden war, kamen sie mit ihrem ganzen Heer, um ihn in ihre Gewalt zu bringen. Aber David erfuhr davon und konnte sich rechtzeitig in seine Festung^[6] zurückziehen. 18 Die Philister besetzten unterdessen die Ebene Refaïm. 19 David fragte den HERRN: »Soll ich sie angreifen? Wirst du mir den Sieg schenken?« Der HERR antwortete: »Greif an! Ich gebe sie in deine Gewalt.« 20 Da zog David ´mit seinem Heer` nach Baal-Perazim und besiegte die Philister. Nach der Schlacht sagte er: »Wie Wasser ´einen Damm` durchbricht, so hat der HERR ´die Schlachtreihen` meiner Feinde vor meinen Augen durchbrochen!« Deshalb erhielt der Ort den Namen Baal-Perazim (»Herr der Durchbrüche«). 21 ´Bei ihrer Flucht` hatten die Philister sogar ihre Götzenbilder zurückgelassen. David und seine Männer nahmen sie mit. 22 Ein weiteres Mal zogen die Philister ´gegen David` aus und besetzten die Ebene Refaïm. 23 Wieder bat David den HERRN um Weisung, und er bekam zur Antwort: »Greif sie nicht direkt an, sondern umgehe sie und fall ihnen bei den Bakabäumen^[7] in den Rücken! 24 Sobald du in den Wipfeln der Bakabäume das Geräusch von Schritten hörst, greif sofort an. Denn dann weißt du, dass ich vor dir her in die Schlacht ziehe, um das Heer der Philister zu schlagen.« 25 David tat, was der HERR ihm befohlen hatte. Er besiegte die Philister ´und verfolgte sie` von Geba bis hinab nach Geser.

1 Then came all the tribes of Israel to David unto Hebron, and spake, saying, Behold, we are thy bone and thy flesh. 2 Also in time past, when Saul was king over us, thou wast he that leddest out and broughtest in Israel: and the LORD said to thee, Thou shalt feed my people Israel, and thou shalt be a captain over Israel. 3 So all the elders of Israel came to the king to Hebron; and king David made a league with them in Hebron before the LORD: and they anointed David king over Israel. 4 David was thirty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned forty years. 5 In Hebron he reigned over Judah seven years and six months: and in Jerusalem he reigned thirty and three years over all Israel and Judah. 6 And the king and his men went to Jerusalem unto the Jebusites, the inhabitants of the land: which spake unto David, saying, Except thou take away the blind and the lame, thou shalt not come in hither: thinking, David cannot come in hither. 7 Nevertheless David took the strong hold of Zion: the same is the city of David. 8 And David said on that day, Whosoever getteth up to the gutter, and smiteth the Jebusites, and the lame and the blind, that are hated of David' soul, he shall be chief and captain . Wherefore they said, The blind and the lame shall not come into the house. 9 So David dwelt in the fort, and called it the city of David. And David built round about from Millo and inward. 10 And David went on, and grew great, and the LORD God of hosts was with him. 11 And Hiram king of Tyre sent messengers to David, and cedar trees, and carpenters, and masons: and they built David an house. 12 And David perceived that the LORD had established him king over Israel, and that he had exalted his kingdom for his people Israel' sake. 13 And David took him more concubines and wives out of Jerusalem, after he was come from Hebron: and there were yet sons and daughters born to David. 14 And these be the names of those that were born unto him in Jerusalem; Shammua, and Shobab, and Nathan, and Solomon, 15 Ibhar also, and Elishua, and Nepheg, and Japhia, 16 And Elishama, and Eliada, and Eliphalet. 17 But when the Philistines heard that they had anointed David king over Israel, all the Philistines came up to seek David; and David heard of it , and went down to the hold. 18 The Philistines also came and spread themselves in the valley of Rephaim. 19 And David enquired of the LORD, saying, Shall I go up to the Philistines? wilt thou deliver them into mine hand? And the LORD said unto David, Go up: for I will doubtless deliver the Philistines into thine hand. 20 And David came to Baalperazim, and David smote them there, and said, The LORD hath broken forth upon mine enemies before me, as the breach of waters. Therefore he called the name of that place Baalperazim. 21 And there they left their images, and David and his men burned them. 22 And the Philistines came up yet again, and spread themselves in the valley of Rephaim. 23 And when David enquired of the LORD, he said, Thou shalt not go up; but fetch a compass behind them, and come upon them over against the mulberry trees. 24 And let it be, when thou hearest the sound of a going in the tops of the mulberry trees, that then thou shalt bestir thyself: for then shall the LORD go out before thee, to smite the host of the Philistines. 25 And David did so, as the LORD had commanded him; and smote the Philistines from Geba until thou come to Gazer.
