Davids letzte Worte

1 Dies sind die letzten Worte Davids: So spricht David, der Sohn Isais, so spricht der Mann, der zu höchsten Ehren kam, den der Gott Jakobs zum König erwählte, der bekannt ist in Israel für seine kunstvollen Lieder^[1]: 2 Der Geist des HERRN, er spricht durch mich, er hat sein Wort in meinen Mund gelegt. 3 Der Gott Israels hat gesprochen, der ´schützende` Fels seines Volkes^[2] hat zu mir gesagt: »Wer sein Volk gerecht regiert, wer herrscht in Ehrfurcht vor Gott, 4 der ist wie das Licht der Morgensonne, die den wolkenlosen Himmel erhellt: Unter ihren Strahlen sprießt nach dem Regen frisches Grün hervor.« 5 Mein Königshaus hält treu zu Gott. Er hat für alle Zeiten einen Bund mit mir geschlossen, wohl geordnet hat er ihn und daran hält er sich^[3]. Was mir hilft und was ich wünsche, das alles lässt er stets gedeihen. 6 Skrupellose Menschen aber sind wie Dorngestrüpp, ´entwurzelt und vom Wind` verweht. Mit bloßen Händen fasst es niemand an. 7 Mit Schaufel und Spieß muss man sich wappnen, um es aufzulesen, man wirft es ins Feuer und verbrennt es an Ort und Stelle.

Die »Drei Helden«

8 Dies sind die Namen der berühmtesten Kriegsleute Davids: Joscheb-Baschebet^[4] aus ´der Sippe` Tachkemon^[5] war der Anführer der »Drei Helden«. Er kämpfte mit dem Speer^[6] gegen achthundert Feinde und tötete sie alle in einer einzigen Schlacht. 9 An zweiter Stelle unter den »Drei Helden« kam Eleasar, der Sohn Dodos und Nachkomme Ahoachs^[7]. Er war bei David, als die Israeliten wieder einmal die Philister zum Kampf herausforderten. Die Philister gingen zum Angriff über, und die Israeliten traten den Rückzug an.^[8] 10 Eleasar aber hielt ´als Einziger` stand. Er tötete einen Philister nach dem anderen, bis sein Arm erlahmte und seine Hand sich so verkrampfte, dass er sie kaum noch vom Schwert lösen konnte^[9]. So schenkte der HERR an diesem Tag den Israeliten einen großen Sieg. Durch Eleasars Vorbild ermutigt kehrten die Israeliten wieder aufs Schlachtfeld zurück^[10], aber es blieb ihnen nur noch, die gefallenen Philister auszuplündern. 11 Der Dritte war Schamma aus Harar, der Sohn des Age. Als die Philister auf einem Linsenfeld bei Lehi gegen Israel kämpften^[11], flohen die Israeliten vor ihren Feinden. 12 Doch Schamma stellte sich mitten auf das Linsenfeld, verteidigte es gegen die Philister und schlug sie in die Flucht. So schenkte der HERR den Israeliten einen großen Sieg. 13 Einmal kamen die »Drei Helden« – sie gehörten zu den dreißig Befehlshabern Davids – während der Erntezeit zu ihm in die Höhle Adullam. Die Philister hatten damals ihr Lager in der Ebene Refaïm aufgeschlagen, 14 während David sich ´oben bei der Höhle` in seiner Bergfestung verschanzt hatte. Eine Abteilung der Philister hatte Betlehem besetzt. 15 Da überkam David ein Gefühl der Wehmut und er sagte: »Wenn mir doch jemand Wasser bringen würde aus dem Brunnen beim Tor von Betlehem!« 16 Darauf schlugen sich die »Drei Helden« durch das Lager der Philister, schöpften Wasser aus dem Brunnen beim Tor von Betlehem und brachten es zu David. Der aber wollte es nicht trinken, sondern goss es aus als Trankopfer für den HERRN. 17 Er sagte: »Der HERR bewahre mich davor, so etwas zu tun! Da könnte ich auch gleich das Blut meiner Männer trinken, die für dieses Wasser ihr Leben riskiert haben!^[12]« So weigerte sich David zu trinken. Diese Heldentat vollbrachten die »Drei Helden« ´gemeinsam`.

Abischai und Benaja

18 Abischai, der Bruder Joabs und Sohn der Zeruja, war Anführer der »Dreißig^[13] Kämpfer«. Er tötete mit dem Speer dreihundert Feinde und wurde so bekannt wie einer der »Drei Helden«. 19 Unter den »Dreißig^[14] Kämpfern« genoss er höchstes Ansehen und wurde ihr Oberbefehlshaber. Aber an die »Drei Helden« reichte er nicht heran. 20 Benaja aus Kabzeel, der Sohn Jojadas, war ein tapferer Mann, der große Taten vollbrachte. Er tötete die beiden ´moabitischen Kriegshelden, die als` »Gotteslöwen von Moab« ´bekannt waren`. Einmal stieg er an einem Schneetag in eine Zisterne, in die ein Löwe gefallen war, und tötete ihn. 21 Ein anderes Mal tötete er einen ägyptischen Krieger von beeindruckender Gestalt, der mit einem Speer bewaffnet war. Benaja ging mit einem Stock auf ihn los, riss ihm den Speer aus der Hand und tötete ihn damit. 22 Solche Taten vollbrachte Benaja, der Sohn Jojadas. Er war so bekannt wie einer der »Drei Helden«. 23 Unter den »Dreißig Kämpfern« genoss er höchstes Ansehen, aber an die »Drei Helden« reichte er nicht heran. David machte ihn zum Befehlshaber seiner Leibwache.

David the son of Jesse said, and the man who was raised up on high, the anointed of the God of Jacob, and the sweet psalmist of Israel, said, 2 The Spirit of the LORD spake by me, and his word was in my tongue. 3 The God of Israel said, the Rock of Israel spake to me, He that ruleth over men must be just, ruling in the fear of God. 4 And he shall be as the light of the morning, when the sun riseth, even a morning without clouds; as the tender grass springing out of the earth by clear shining after rain. 5 Although my house be not so with God; yet he hath made with me an everlasting covenant, ordered in all things , and sure: for this is all my salvation, and all my desire, although he make it not to grow. 6 But the sons of Belial shall be all of them as thorns thrust away, because they cannot be taken with hands: 7 But the man that shall touch them must be fenced with iron and the staff of a spear; and they shall be utterly burned with fire in the same place. 8 These be the names of the mighty men whom David had: The Tachmonite that sat in the seat, chief among the captains; the same was Adino the Eznite: he lift up his spear against eight hundred, whom he slew at one time. 9 And after him was Eleazar the son of Dodo the Ahohite, one of the three mighty men with David, when they defied the Philistines that were there gathered together to battle, and the men of Israel were gone away: 10 He arose, and smote the Philistines until his hand was weary, and his hand clave unto the sword: and the LORD wrought a great victory that day; and the people returned after him only to spoil. 11 And after him was Shammah the son of Agee the Hararite. And the Philistines were gathered together into a troop, where was a piece of ground full of lentiles: and the people fled from the Philistines. 12 But he stood in the midst of the ground, and defended it, and slew the Philistines: and the LORD wrought a great victory. 13 And three of the thirty chief went down, and came to David in the harvest time unto the cave of Adullam: and the troop of the Philistines pitched in the valley of Rephaim. 14 And David was then in an hold, and the garrison of the Philistines was then in Bethlehem. 15 And David longed, and said, Oh that one would give me drink of the water of the well of Bethlehem, which is by the gate! 16 And the three mighty men brake through the host of the Philistines, and drew water out of the well of Bethlehem, that was by the gate, and took it , and brought it to David: nevertheless he would not drink thereof, but poured it out unto the LORD. 17 And he said, Be it far from me, O LORD, that I should do this: is not this the blood of the men that went in jeopardy of their lives? therefore he would not drink it. These things did these three mighty men. 18 And Abishai, the brother of Joab, the son of Zeruiah, was chief among three. And he lifted up his spear against three hundred, and slew them , and had the name among three. 19 Was he not most honourable of three? therefore he was their captain: howbeit he attained not unto the first three. 20 And Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, the son of a valiant man, of Kabzeel, who had done many acts, he slew two lionlike men of Moab: he went down also and slew a lion in the midst of a pit in time of snow: 21 And he slew an Egyptian, a goodly man: and the Egyptian had a spear in his hand; but he went down to him with a staff, and plucked the spear out of the Egyptian' hand, and slew him with his own spear. 22 These things did Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and had the name among three mighty men. 23 He was more honourable than the thirty, but he attained not to the first three.
