Jakob und seine Familie ziehen nach Ägypten

1 Jakob^[1] machte sich mit seiner Familie und seinem ganzen Besitz auf den Weg ´nach Ägypten`. Als er nach Beerscheba kam, schlachtete er Tiere von seinen Herden und brachte sie dem Gott, den schon sein Vater Isaak verehrt hatte, als Opfer dar. 2 In der Nacht redete Gott zu ihm in einer Vision: »Jakob! Jakob!« »Ja, Herr?«, antwortete er. 3 Und Gott sagte: »Ich bin der Gott deines Vaters. Hab keine Angst, nach Ägypten zu ziehen. Denn dort will ich deine Nachkommen zu einem großen Volk werden lassen. 4 Ich gehe mit dir nach Ägypten und bringe deine Nachkommen^[2] ´eines Tages` wieder hierher zurück. ´Wenn du stirbst`, wird Josef bei dir sein und dir die Augen zudrücken.« (1Mo 50,1) 5 Danach brach Jakob von Beerscheba auf. Seine Söhne setzten ihn, ihre Frauen und die kleinen Kinder in die Wagen, die der Pharao ihm gesandt hatte. 6 Ihre Viehherden und allen Besitz, den sie in Kanaan erworben hatten, nahmen sie mit. So kamen sie nach Ägypten. 7 Die gesamte Nachkommenschaft Jakobs, alle seine Söhne, Töchter, Enkel und Enkelinnen, siedelten mit ihm nach Ägypten über.

8 Dies sind die Namen der Söhne Jakobs, die mit ihrem Vater, der auch Israel heißt, nach Ägypten kamen. ´Mit seiner Frau Lea hatte Jakob sechs Söhne`. Der erstgeborene Sohn war Ruben. 9 Rubens Söhne hießen Henoch, Pallu, Hezron und Karmi. 10 Simeons Söhne waren Jemuël, Jamin, Ohad, Jachin, Zohar und Schaul. Schaul war der Sohn einer Kanaaniterin. 11 Levis Söhne hießen Gerschon, Kehat und Merari. 12 Judas Söhne waren Er, Onan, Schela, Perez und Serach. ´Die beiden Ältesten`, Er und Onan, waren bereits in Kanaan gestorben. Die Söhne von Perez hießen Hezron und Hamul. 13 Issachars Söhne waren Tola, Puwa, Jaschub^[3] und Schimron. (4Mo 26,24) 14 Sebulons Söhne hießen Sered, Elon und Jachleel. 15 Das waren die Söhne ´und Enkel` von Jakob und Lea. Leas Söhne wurden in Mesopotamien geboren, dazu noch eine Tochter namens Dina. Alle zusammen waren 33 Personen^[4]. 16 ´Mit seiner Nebenfrau Silpa hatte Jakob zwei Söhne namens Gad und Ascher`. Gads Söhne hießen Zifjon, Haggi, Schuni, Ezbon, Eri, Arod und Areli. 17 Aschers Söhne waren Jimna, Jischwa, Jischwi und Beria, dazu eine Tochter namens Serach. Die Söhne Berias hießen Heber und Malkiël. 18 Das waren die Söhne ´und Enkel` von Jakob und Silpa. ´Silpa war die Magd`, die Laban seiner Tochter Lea mitgegeben hatte. Von ihr stammen also 16 Personen ab. 19 Mit seiner Frau Rahel hatte Jakob zwei Söhne namens Josef und Benjamin. 20 Josef bekam in Ägypten ´ebenfalls` zwei Söhne mit seiner Frau Asenat, der Tochter des Priesters Potifera aus On. Sie hießen Manasse und Efraim. 21 Benjamins Söhne waren Bela, Becher, Aschbel, Gera, Naaman, Ehi, Rosch, Muppim, Huppim und Ard. 22 Das waren die Söhne ´und Enkel` von Jakob und Rahel. Von Rahel stammen also 14 Personen ab. 23 ´Mit seiner Nebenfrau Bilha hatte Jakob zwei Söhne namens Dan und Naftali`. Dans einziger Sohn^[5] hieß Huschim^[6]. (4Mo 26,42) 24 Naftalis Söhne waren Jachzeel, Guni, Jezer und Schillem. 25 Das waren die Söhne ´und Enkel` von Jakob und Bilha. ´Bilha war die Magd`, die Laban seiner Tochter Rahel mitgegeben hatte. Von ihr stammen also 7 Personen ab. 26 Insgesamt siedelten 66 Kinder und Enkel zusammen mit Jakob nach Ägypten über. Dazu kamen noch die Frauen seiner Söhne. 27 Wenn man Josef und die zwei Söhne mitzählt, die ihm in Ägypten geboren wurden, dann waren es ´– Jakob eingeschlossen –` alles in allem 70 Personen^[7] aus der Familie Jakobs, die nach Ägypten kamen. Jakobs Familie trifft in Ägypten ein

28 Jakob schickte Juda voraus, um Josef seine Ankunft anzukündigen und ihn zu bitten, nach Goschen zu kommen^[8]. Nachdem Jakob und seine Familie in Goschen angekommen waren, 29 ließ Josef seinen Wagen anspannen und fuhr zu seinem Vater^[9]. Als er ihn sah, fiel er ihm um den Hals und weinte lange an seiner Schulter. 30 »Jetzt bin ich bereit zu sterben«, sagte Jakob^[10]. »Ich habe dich wiedergesehen und weiß, dass du noch lebst!« 31 Josef sagte zu seinem Vater und der ganzen Familie^[11]: »Ich gehe jetzt zum Pharao und erzähle ihm, dass ihr aus Kanaan angekommen seid. 32 ´Ich werde ihm sagen`, dass ihr Schafhirten und Viehzüchter seid, und dass ihr eure Schafe, Ziegen, Rinder und all euren Besitz mitgebracht habt. 33 Wenn der Pharao euch später zu sich rufen lässt und euch nach eurem Beruf fragt, 34 dann sagt ihm dasselbe: ›Wir, deine Diener, sind Viehzüchter wie schon deine Vorfahren. Wir üben diese Tätigkeit seit unserer Jugend aus.‹ Dann wird er euch das Gebiet Goschen ´hier am Rand Ägyptens` als Wohnsitz zuweisen, denn die Ägypter betrachten Schafhirten als unrein und wollen nichts mit ihnen zu tun haben^[12].«

1 And Israel took his journey with all that he had, and came to Beersheba, and offered sacrifices unto the God of his father Isaac. 2 And God spake unto Israel in the visions of the night, and said, Jacob, Jacob. And he said, Here am I. 3 And he said, I am God, the God of thy father: fear not to go down into Egypt; for I will there make of thee a great nation: 4 I will go down with thee into Egypt; and I will also surely bring thee up again : and Joseph shall put his hand upon thine eyes. 5 And Jacob rose up from Beersheba: and the sons of Israel carried Jacob their father, and their little ones, and their wives, in the wagons which Pharaoh had sent to carry him. 6 And they took their cattle, and their goods, which they had gotten in the land of Canaan, and came into Egypt, Jacob, and all his seed with him: 7 His sons, and his sons'sons with him, his daughters, and his sons'daughters, and all his seed brought he with him into Egypt. 8 And these are the names of the children of Israel, which came into Egypt, Jacob and his sons: Reuben, Jacob' firstborn. 9 And the sons of Reuben; Hanoch, and Phallu, and Hezron, and Carmi. 10 And the sons of Simeon; Jemuel, and Jamin, and Ohad, and Jachin, and Zohar, and Shaul the son of a Canaanitish woman. 11 And the sons of Levi; Gershon, Kohath, and Merari. 12 And the sons of Judah; Er, and Onan, and Shelah, and Pharez, and Zerah: but Er and Onan died in the land of Canaan. And the sons of Pharez were Hezron and Hamul. 13 And the sons of Issachar; Tola, and Phuvah, and Job, and Shimron. 14 And the sons of Zebulun; Sered, and Elon, and Jahleel. 15 These be the sons of Leah, which she bare unto Jacob in Padanaram, with his daughter Dinah: all the souls of his sons and his daughters were thirty and three. 16 And the sons of Gad; Ziphion, and Haggi, Shuni, and Ezbon, Eri, and Arodi, and Areli. 17 And the sons of Asher; Jimnah, and Ishuah, and Isui, and Beriah, and Serah their sister: and the sons of Beriah; Heber, and Malchiel. 18 These are the sons of Zilpah, whom Laban gave to Leah his daughter, and these she bare unto Jacob, even sixteen souls. 19 The sons of Rachel Jacob' wife; Joseph, and Benjamin. 20 And unto Joseph in the land of Egypt were born Manasseh and Ephraim, which Asenath the daughter of Potipherah priest of On bare unto him. 21 And the sons of Benjamin were Belah, and Becher, and Ashbel, Gera, and Naaman, Ehi, and Rosh, Muppim, and Huppim, and Ard. 22 These are the sons of Rachel, which were born to Jacob: all the souls were fourteen. 23 And the sons of Dan; Hushim. 24 And the sons of Naphtali; Jahzeel, and Guni, and Jezer, and Shillem. 25 These are the sons of Bilhah, which Laban gave unto Rachel his daughter, and she bare these unto Jacob: all the souls were seven. 26 All the souls that came with Jacob into Egypt, which came out of his loins, besides Jacob' sons'wives, all the souls were threescore and six; 27 And the sons of Joseph, which were born him in Egypt, were two souls: all the souls of the house of Jacob, which came into Egypt, were threescore and ten. 28 And he sent Judah before him unto Joseph, to direct his face unto Goshen; and they came into the land of Goshen. 29 And Joseph made ready his chariot, and went up to meet Israel his father, to Goshen, and presented himself unto him; and he fell on his neck, and wept on his neck a good while. 30 And Israel said unto Joseph, Now let me die, since I have seen thy face, because thou art yet alive. 31 And Joseph said unto his brethren, and unto his father' house, I will go up, and shew Pharaoh, and say unto him, My brethren, and my father' house, which were in the land of Canaan, are come unto me; 32 And the men are shepherds, for their trade hath been to feed cattle; and they have brought their flocks, and their herds, and all that they have. 33 And it shall come to pass, when Pharaoh shall call you, and shall say, What is your occupation? 34 That ye shall say, Thy servants'trade hath been about cattle from our youth even until now, both we, and also our fathers: that ye may dwell in the land of Goshen; for every shepherd is an abomination unto the Egyptians.
