Lobe den HERRN, meine Seele!2Ich will den HERRN loben mein Leben lang, für meinen Gott singen und musizieren, solange ich bin.3Verlasst euch nicht auf Mächtige, nicht auf irgendeinen Menschen, bei dem doch keine Hilfe zu finden ist!4Wenn er den letzten Atem aushaucht[1], so wird er wieder zu Erde, und am selben Tag ist es vorbei mit all seinen Plänen.5Glücklich zu preisen ist, wer den Gott Jakobs zum Helfer hat, wer seine Hoffnung auf den HERRN, seinen Gott, setzt,6auf ihn, der Himmel und Erde erschaffen hat, das Meer und alles, was darin lebt, auf ihn, der für alle Zeiten die Treue hält.7Den Unterdrückten verschafft er Recht, den Hungernden gibt er Brot. Der HERR befreit die Gefangenen,8der HERR öffnet die Augen der Blinden, der HERR richtet Gebeugte auf, der HERR liebt Menschen, die seinen Willen tun[2].9Der HERR behütet die Fremden, Waisen und Witwen stärkt und erhält er; aber den Weg derer, die ihn verachten, macht er zu einem Irrweg.10Auf ewig herrscht der HERR als König, dein Gott, Zion, jetzt und in allen künftigen Generationen.
