1¡Cristo nos libertó para que vivamos en libertad! ¡Cuiden esa libertad y no se dejen someter de nuevo al yugo de la esclavitud!2Y óiganme bien: Yo, Pablo, les digo que si practican la circuncisión, Cristo no les sirve de nada.3Repito: El que se circuncide tendrá que obedecer toda la ley.4Se han apartado de Cristo si esperan justificarse guardando la ley. ¡Han caído de la gracia de Dios!5Pero nosotros, con la ayuda del Espíritu Santo, esperamos que por medio de la fe seremos justificados ante Dios.6Estando unidos a Cristo Jesús no cuenta nada si estamos circuncidados o no. Nos basta la fe que actúa a través del amor.7Ustedes iban bien. ¿Quién les ha impedido seguir la verdad?8Ciertamente, no ha sido Dios, porque él es el que los llamó.9Como se dice: «Un poco de levadura hace que fermente toda la masa».10Confío en el Señor que ustedes no cambiarán su forma de pensar. Dios castigará a la persona, quienquiera que sea, que los ha estado perturbando.11Algunos hasta se han atrevido a decir que yo predico la circuncisión. ¡Si fuera verdad, habrían dejado de perseguirme, porque tal mensaje no los ofendería! Pero entonces, ¿por qué me persiguen todavía?12¡Ojalá que esos que los andan confundiendo a ustedes se castraran de una vez!13Les hablo así, hermanos, porque ustedes fueron llamados a ser libres. Pero no usen esa libertad para dar rienda suelta a sus pasiones. Más bien sírvanse unos a otros con amor.14Toda la ley se resume en este mandamiento: «Amarás a tu prójimo como a ti mismo».15Pero si en vez de hacerlo se muerden y se comen unos a otros, ¡cuidado no sea que acaben por consumirse unos a otros!
La vida por el Espíritu
16Así que les aconsejo que vivan por el poder del Espíritu. De esa manera no obedecerán los deseos de la naturaleza pecaminosa,17porque esta va en contra de lo que el Espíritu quiere, y el Espíritu desea lo que va en contra de la naturaleza pecaminosa. Estos dos se oponen entre sí, y por eso ustedes no pueden hacer lo que quieren.18Pero si a ustedes los guía el Espíritu, ya no están bajo la ley.19Estas son las obras de la naturaleza pecaminosa: inmoralidad sexual, impureza y libertinaje;20idolatría y brujería; odios, pleitos, celos, iras, rivalidades, disensiones, sectarismos y21envidia; borracheras, orgías y otras cosas como esas. Como ya les dije antes, se los repito ahora: los que llevan esa clase de vida no heredarán el reino de Dios.22En cambio, este es el fruto que el Espíritu produce en nosotros: amor, gozo, paz, paciencia, benignidad, bondad, fidelidad,23humildad y dominio propio. No hay ley que condene estas cosas.24Los que pertenecen a Cristo han clavado en la cruz su naturaleza pecaminosa.25Puesto que vivimos por el poder del Espíritu, sigamos la dirección del Espíritu.26No dejemos que la vanidad nos lleve a tener celos y enemistades entre nosotros.

(1 Co 9:24; Gl 2:5)8This persuasion is not from him who calls you. (Gl 1:6)9A little leaven leavens the whole lump. (1 Co 5:6; 1 Co 15:33; Heb 12:15)10I have confidence in the Lord that you will take no other view, and the one who is troubling you will bear the penalty, whoever he is. (2 Co 2:3; Gl 1:7; Gl 5:12; Flp 3:15)11But if I, brothers,[2] still preach[3] circumcision, why am I still being persecuted? In that case the offense of the cross has been removed. (1 Co 1:23; Gl 4:29; Gl 6:12; 1 P 2:8)12I wish those who unsettle you would emasculate themselves! (Gl 2:4; Gl 5:10)13For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. (1 Co 8:9; 1 Co 9:19; 1 P 2:16; 2 P 2:19; Jud 1:4)14For the whole law is fulfilled in one word: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” (Lv 19:18; Mt 7:12; Mt 19:19; Mt 22:40; Jn 13:34; Gl 5:22; Gl 6:2)15But if you bite and devour one another, watch out that you are not consumed by one another. (Flp 3:2)
Keep in Step with the Spirit
16But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. (Ro 8:4; Ro 13:14; Gl 5:24; Ef 2:3)17For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh, for these are opposed to each other, to keep you from doing the things you want to do. (Ro 7:15; Ro 7:18; Ro 7:23; Ro 8:5)18But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law. (Ro 7:4; Ro 8:14)19Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, (Mt 15:18; 1 Co 3:3; Ef 5:3; Col 3:5; Stg 3:14)20idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, (1 Co 11:19)21envy,[4] drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do[5] such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. (1 Co 6:9; Col 3:6)22But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, (Ro 5:1; Ro 7:4; Ro 8:5; 2 Co 6:6; Ef 5:9; Col 3:12)23gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. (Hch 24:25; Ef 4:2; 1 Ti 1:9)24And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. (Ro 6:6; Ro 7:5; Gl 5:16)25If we live by the Spirit, let us also keep in step with the Spirit. (Gl 5:16)26Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another. (Flp 2:3)
