1 Esta es la revelación que Dios le dio a Jesucristo para que él le muestre a sus servidores los acontecimientos que ocurrirán pronto. Jesucristo se los reveló por medio de un ángel a su siervo Juan. 2 Juan puso por escrito la palabra de Dios y el testimonio de Jesucristo, y narró con veracidad todo lo que vio y oyó. 3 Bendito el que lee esta profecía y benditos los que la oyen y le hacen caso, porque la hora de su cumplimiento se aproxima. 4 Yo Juan, les escribo a las siete iglesias que están en la provincia de Asia:[1] Gracia y paz a ustedes de Aquel que es, que era y que ha de venir, y de los siete espíritus[2] que están delante de su trono, 5 y de parte de Jesucristo, el testigo fiel, que fue el primero en levantarse de entre los muertos y que tiene autoridad sobre todos los reyes de la tierra. Al que nos ama y derramó su sangre para libertarnos de nuestros pecados, 6 y ha hecho de nosotros un reino de sacerdotes al servicio de Dios su Padre, ¡sean eternamente la gloria y el poder! ¡Amén! 7 ¡Miren! ¡Viene en las nubes, ante los ojos de la humanidad entera, y hasta los que lo traspasaron lo verán! Y las naciones de la tierra llorarán de pesar por él. ¡Amén! ¡Que así sea! 8 «Yo soy la A y la Z, —dice el Señor Dios—, el que es, que era y que ha de venir, el Todopoderoso». 9-10 Yo, Juan, hermano de ustedes y compañero en el sufrimiento, en el reino y en la fortaleza que nos da Jesucristo, un día del Señor estaba en la isla de Patmos, a donde me habían desterrado por predicar la palabra de Dios y contar lo que sé de Jesucristo. Entonces quedé bajo el poder del Espíritu y escuché detrás de mí una voz que, estridente como toque de trompeta, 11 me dijo: «Escribe en un libro todo lo que veas, y envíalo a las siete iglesias que están en Asia:[3] Éfeso, Esmirna, Pérgamo, Tiatira, Sardis, Filadelfia y Laodicea». 12 Cuando me volví para mirar al que me hablaba, vi siete candeleros de oro. 13 En medio de los candeleros estaba un personaje muy parecido al Hijo del hombre, vestido de un manto que le llegaba hasta los pies, y ceñido al pecho con una banda de oro. 14 Tenía el pelo blanco como la lana o la nieve, y los ojos penetrantes como llamas de fuego. 15 Sus pies parecían como bronce al rojo vivo en un horno, y su voz retumbaba tan fuerte como una catarata. 16 En la mano derecha sostenía siete estrellas; de su boca salía una espada aguda de dos filos. El rostro le brillaba con el resplandor del sol cuando brilla con toda su fuerza. 17 Al verlo, caí a sus pies como muerto; pero puso la mano derecha sobre mí y me dijo: «¡No temas! Soy el primero y el último, 18 el que vive aunque estuvo muerto; pero ahora vivo para siempre y tengo las llaves del infierno y de la muerte. 19 »Escribe lo que viste, lo que está sucediendo y lo que sucederá después. 20 El significado de las siete estrellas que tengo en la mano derecha, y de los siete candeleros de oro, es el siguiente: las siete estrellas son los ángeles de las siete iglesias, y los siete candeleros son las siete iglesias.

1 The revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave him to show to his servants[1] the things that must soon take place. He made it known by sending his angel to his servant John, (Jn 8:26; Jn 14:10; Jn 17:7; Ap 22:6; Ap 22:16) 2 who bore witness to the word of God and to the testimony of Jesus Christ, even to all that he saw. (Jn 19:35; 1 Co 1:6; Ap 1:11; Ap 1:19; Ap 6:9; Ap 12:17; Ap 19:10) 3 Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear, and who keep what is written in it, for the time is near. (Lc 11:28; Jn 8:51; Ro 13:11; 1 Jn 2:3; 1 Jn 2:18; Ap 22:7; Ap 22:10) 4 John to the seven churches that are in Asia: Grace to you and peace from him who is and who was and who is to come, and from the seven spirits who are before his throne, (Ex 3:14; Jn 1:1; Heb 13:8; Ap 1:8; Ap 3:1; Ap 4:5; Ap 4:8; Ap 5:6) 5 and from Jesus Christ the faithful witness, the firstborn of the dead, and the ruler of kings on earth. To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood (Sal 89:27; Sal 89:37; Is 55:4; Jn 13:34; Jn 15:9; Jn 18:37; Hch 26:23; 1 Co 15:20; Col 1:18; 1 Ti 6:13; 1 P 1:18; Ap 2:13; Ap 3:14; Ap 17:14; Ap 19:16) 6 and made us a kingdom, priests to his God and Father, to him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen. (Ro 11:36; Ro 15:6; 1 P 2:9; 1 P 4:11; Ap 5:10; Ap 20:6) 7 Behold, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, even those who pierced him, and all tribes of the earth will wail[2] on account of him. Even so. Amen. (Dn 7:13; Zac 12:10; Mt 16:27; Jn 19:37) 8 “I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.” (Is 41:4; Is 43:10; Is 44:6; Ap 1:4; Ap 21:6; Ap 22:13) 9 I, John, your brother and partner in the tribulation and the kingdom and the patient endurance that are in Jesus, was on the island called Patmos on account of the word of God and the testimony of Jesus. (Jn 16:33; Flp 4:14; 2 Ti 2:12; Ap 1:2; Ap 3:10) 10 I was in the Spirit on the Lord’s day, and I heard behind me a loud voice like a trumpet (1 R 18:12; Ez 3:12; Mt 22:43; Hch 20:7; 1 Co 16:2; 2 Co 12:2; Ap 4:1; Ap 4:2; Ap 17:3; Ap 21:10) 11 saying, “Write what you see in a book and send it to the seven churches, to Ephesus and to Smyrna and to Pergamum and to Thyatira and to Sardis and to Philadelphia and to Laodicea.” (Ap 1:2; Ap 1:19) 12 Then I turned to see the voice that was speaking to me, and on turning I saw seven golden lampstands, (Ex 25:37; 2 Cr 4:20; Zac 4:2; Ap 1:20; Ap 2:1; Ap 11:4) 13 and in the midst of the lampstands one like a son of man, clothed with a long robe and with a golden sash around his chest. (Dn 7:13; Dn 10:5; Dn 10:16; Ap 14:14; Ap 15:6) 14 The hairs of his head were white, like white wool, like snow. His eyes were like a flame of fire, (Dn 7:9; Dn 10:6; Ap 2:18; Ap 19:12) 15 his feet were like burnished bronze, refined in a furnace, and his voice was like the roar of many waters. (Ez 1:7; Ez 43:2; Dn 10:6; Ap 14:2; Ap 19:6) 16 In his right hand he held seven stars, from his mouth came a sharp two-edged sword, and his face was like the sun shining in full strength. (Jue 5:31; Is 49:2; Mt 17:2; Ef 6:17; Heb 4:12; Ap 1:20; Ap 2:1; Ap 2:12; Ap 2:16; Ap 3:1; Ap 19:15) 17 When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. But he laid his right hand on me, saying, “Fear not, I am the first and the last, (Is 41:4; Is 44:6; Is 48:12; Dn 8:17; Dn 10:9; Dn 10:15; Mt 17:7; Lc 24:37; Jn 21:12; Ap 2:8; Ap 22:13) 18 and the living one. I died, and behold I am alive forevermore, and I have the keys of Death and Hades. (Ro 6:9; Ro 14:9; Ap 9:1; Ap 20:1) 19 Write therefore the things that you have seen, those that are and those that are to take place after this. (Ap 1:2; Ap 1:11; Ap 1:12) 20 As for the mystery of the seven stars that you saw in my right hand, and the seven golden lampstands, the seven stars are the angels of the seven churches, and the seven lampstands are the seven churches. (Mt 5:14; Ap 1:12)
