1 Hierauf versammelte Mose die ganze Gemeinde der Israeliten und sagte zu ihnen: »Dies ist es, was der HERR zu tun geboten hat: 2 Sechs Tage lang soll gearbeitet werden; aber der siebte Tag soll euch heilig sein als ein Feiertag mit völliger Ruhe zu Ehren des HERRN! Wer an diesem Tage eine Arbeit verrichtet, soll den Tod erleiden! 3 Am Sabbattage dürft ihr kein Feuer in allen euren Wohnungen anzünden!« 4 Weiter sagte Mose zu der ganzen Gemeinde der Israeliten: »Dies ist es, was der HERR geboten hat: 5 Bringt von eurem Besitz eine Abgabe für den HERRN! Jeder, den sein Herz dazu treibt, möge die Abgabe für den HERRN herbringen: Gold, Silber und Kupfer, 6 blauen und roten Purpur und Karmesin^[1], Byssus und Ziegenhaar, 7 rotgefärbte Widderfelle und Seekuhhäute, Akazienholz, 8 Öl für den Leuchter, sowie Gewürzkräuter^[2] für das Salböl und für das wohlriechende Räucherwerk, 9 Onyxsteine und andere Edelsteine zum Besatz für das Schulterkleid und für das Brustschild^[3]. 10 Und alle, die kunstverständig unter euch sind, mögen kommen und alles herstellen, was der HERR geboten hat, 11 nämlich die Wohnung mit ihrem Zelt und ihrer Überdachung, ihren Haken und Brettern, ihren Riegeln, Säulen^[4] und deren Füßen^[5], 12 die Lade mit ihren Tragstangen, die Deckplatte und den abschließenden Vorhang; 13 den Tisch mit seinen Tragstangen und all seinen Geräten und den Schaubroten; 14 den Leuchter zur Beleuchtung mit seinen Geräten und seinen Lampen und das Öl für den Leuchter; 15 den Räucheraltar mit seinen Tragstangen, das Salböl und das wohlriechende Räucherwerk; 16 den Türvorhang für den Eingang der Wohnung; den Brandopferaltar mit dem kupfernen Gitterwerk daran, samt seinen Tragstangen und all seinen Geräten; das Becken mit seinem Gestell; 17 die Umhänge für den Vorhof samt den dazu gehörigen Säulen und deren Füßen sowie den Vorhang für das Tor am Vorhof; 18 die Pflöcke der Wohnung und die Pflöcke des Vorhofs nebst den erforderlichen Stricken; 19 [die Prachtkleider für den Dienst im Heiligtum,] die heiligen Kleider für den Priester Aaron und die Kleider seiner Söhne für den Priesterdienst.« 20 Hierauf ging die ganze Gemeinde der Israeliten von Mose weg; 21 dann aber kam ein jeder, den sein Herz dazu trieb, und jeder, der einen willigen Sinn besaß, brachte die Beisteuer für den HERRN zur Herstellung des Offenbarungszeltes und für den gesamten heiligen Dienst in ihm und für die heiligen Kleider; 22 und zwar kamen sowohl die Männer als auch die Frauen, jeder, den sein Herz dazu trieb; sie brachten Spangen, Ohrringe, Fingerringe und Halsgeschmeide, goldene Schmucksachen aller Art; und jeder, der dem HERRN etwas von Gold als Weihgabe darzubringen beschlossen hatte, brachte es herbei; 23 und jeder, in dessen Besitz sich blauer und roter Purpur und Karmesin, Byssus und Ziegenhaar, rotgefärbte Widderfelle und Seekuhhäute befanden, brachte sie herbei; 24 jeder, der eine Beisteuer an Silber und Kupfer leisten wollte, brachte die Spende für den HERRN herbei; und jeder, in dessen Besitz sich Akazienholz zu irgendeiner Verwendung befand, brachte es herbei. 25 Und alle Frauen, welche die erforderliche Geschicklichkeit besaßen, spannen eigenhändig und brachten das Gespinst herbei: blauen und roten Purpur, karmesinfarbige Garne und Byssus; 26 und alle Frauen, die sich infolge ihrer Geschicklichkeit dazu getrieben fühlten, verspannen die Ziegenhaare. 27 Die Stammfürsten aber brachten Onyxsteine und andere Edelsteine zum Besatz für das Schulterkleid und für das Brustschild, 28 ferner die Gewürzkräuter und das Öl zur Beleuchtung und zum Salböl und zum wohlriechenden Räucherwerk. 29 So brachten die Israeliten, alle Männer und Frauen, die sich dazu getrieben fühlten, zu dem ganzen Werk, dessen Ausführung der HERR durch Mose geboten hatte, etwas beizutragen, freiwillige Gaben für den HERRN dar. 30 Hierauf sagte Mose zu den Israeliten: »Wisset wohl: der HERR hat Bezaleel, den Sohn Uris, den Enkel Hurs, vom Stamme Juda, namentlich^[6] berufen 31 und ihn mit göttlichem Geist erfüllt, mit Kunstsinn, Einsicht, Verstand und allerlei Fertigkeiten, 32 nämlich um Kunstwerke zu ersinnen, Arbeiten in Gold, Silber und Kupfer auszuführen, 33 Edelsteine zu schneiden, um Kunstwerke damit zu besetzen, Holz zu schnitzen, kurz Werke jeder Art kunstvoll herzustellen. 34 Aber auch die Gabe, andere zu unterweisen, hat er ihm verliehen, ihm und Oholiab, dem Sohn Ahisamachs, vom Stamme Dan. 35 Er hat sie beide mit Kunstsinn reich ausgestattet, um alle Arten von Arbeiten auszuführen, wie sie die Künstler in festen Stoffen sowie die Kunstweber und Buntwirker in blauem und rotem Purpur, in Karmesin und Byssus schaffen und die (einfachen) Weber liefern, indem sie Arbeiten aller Art ausführen und Kunstwerke ersinnen!

Rules for the Sabbath day

1 Moses gathered the whole community of Israel together. He said to them, ‘Here are the things the LORD has commanded you to do. 2 You must do your work in six days. But the seventh day will be your holy day. It will be a day of sabbath rest to honour the LORD. You must rest on it. Anyone who does any work on it must be put to death. 3 Do not even light a fire in any of your homes on the Sabbath day.’

Supplies for the holy tent

4 Moses spoke to the whole community of Israel. He said, ‘Here is what the LORD has commanded. 5 Take an offering for the LORD from what you have. Those who want to can bring an offering to the LORD. Here is what they can bring. ‘gold, silver and bronze 6 blue, purple and bright red yarn and fine linen goat hair 7 ram skins that are dyed red another kind of strong leather acacia wood 8 olive oil for the lights spices for the anointing oil and for the sweet-smelling incense 9 onyx stones and other jewels for the linen apron and the chest cloth 10 ‘All the skilled workers among you must come. They must make everything the LORD has commanded 11 for the holy tent and its covering. Here is what they must make. ‘hooks, frames, crossbars, posts and bases 12 the ark of the covenant law, the poles and cover for the ark, and the curtain that hides the ark 13 the table for the holy bread, the poles and all the things for the table, and the holy bread 14 the lampstand for light and everything used with it, the lamps, and the olive oil that gives light 15 the altar for burning incense, the poles for the altar, the anointing oil and the sweet-smelling incense the curtain for the entrance to the holy tent 16 the altar for burnt offerings with its bronze grate, its poles and all its tools the large bronze bowl with its stand 17 the curtains of the courtyard with their posts and bases, and the curtain for the entrance to the courtyard 18 the ropes and tent stakes for the holy tent and for the courtyard 19 and the sacred clothes for Aaron the priest and the clothes for his sons when they serve as priests’ 20 Then the whole community of Israel left Moses. 21 Everyone who wanted to give offerings to the LORD brought them to him. The offerings were for the work on the tent of meeting. They were also for the sacred clothes and for any other purpose at the tent. 22 Every man and woman who wanted to give came. They brought gold jewellery of all kinds. They brought pins, earrings, rings and other jewellery. All of them gave their gold as a wave offering to the LORD. 23 People brought what they had. They brought blue, purple or bright red yarn or fine linen. They brought goat hair, ram skins dyed red, or the other kind of strong leather. 24 Some brought silver or bronze as an offering to the LORD. Others brought acacia wood for any part of the work. 25 All the skilled women spun yarn with their hands. They brought blue, purple or bright red yarn or fine linen. 26 All the skilled women who wanted to spin the goat hair did so. 27 The leaders brought onyx stones and other jewels for the linen apron and the chest cloth. 28 They also brought spices and olive oil. They brought them for the light, for the anointing oil, and for the sweet-smelling incense. 29 All the men and women of Israel who wanted to bring offerings to the LORD brought them to him. The offerings were for all the work the LORD had commanded Moses to tell them to do.

Bezalel and Oholiab

30 Then Moses spoke to the people of Israel. He said, ‘The LORD has chosen Bezalel, the son of Uri. Uri is the son of Hur. Bezalel is from the tribe of Judah. 31 The LORD has filled him with the Spirit of God. He has filled him with wisdom, with understanding, with knowledge and with all kinds of skill. 32 Bezalel can make beautiful patterns in gold, silver and bronze. 33 He can cut and set stones. He can work with wood. In fact, he can work in all kinds of arts and crafts. 34 And the LORD has given both him and Oholiab the ability to teach others. Oholiab, the son of Ahisamak, is from the tribe of Dan. 35 The LORD has filled Bezalel and Oholiab with skill to do all kinds of work. They can carve things and make patterns. They can sew skilfully with blue, purple and bright red yarn and on fine linen. They use thread to make beautiful cloth. Both of them have the skill to work in all kinds of crafts.
