The rulers of Edom
31These were the kings who reigned in Edom before any Israelite king reigned:32Bela son of Beor became king of Edom. His city was named Dinhabah.33When Bela died, Jobab son of Zerah from Bozrah succeeded him as king.34When Jobab died, Husham from the land of the Temanites succeeded him as king.35When Husham died, Hadad son of Bedad, who defeated Midian in the country of Moab, succeeded him as king. His city was named Avith.36When Hadad died, Samlah from Masrekah succeeded him as king.37When Samlah died, Shaul from Rehoboth on the river succeeded him as king.38When Shaul died, Baal-Hanan son of Akbor succeeded him as king.39When Baal-Hanan son of Akbor died, Hadad[5] succeeded him as king. His city was named Pau, and his wife’s name was Mehetabel daughter of Matred, the daughter of Me-Zahab. 31In der Zeit, bevor es in Israel einen König gab, herrschten über das Land Edom nacheinander[5] die folgenden Könige: (1Chr 1,43)32Bela, der Sohn Beors, in der Stadt Dinhaba;33Jobab, der Sohn Serachs, aus der Stadt Bozra;34Huscham aus dem Gebiet des Stammes Teman;35Hadad, der Sohn Bedads, in der Stadt Awit; er besiegte die Midianiter in einer Schlacht auf dem Gebiet von Moab;36Samla aus der Stadt Masreka;37Schaul aus der Stadt Rehobot am Fluss;38Baal-Hanan, der Sohn Achbors;39Hadad in der Stadt Pagu; seine Frau Mehetabel war eine Tochter Matreds und Enkelin Me-Sahabs.

40Dies sind die Oberhäupter der Nachkommen Esaus, die auch ihren Stämmen und Städten den Namen gegeben haben: Timna, Alwa, Jetet, (1Chr 1,51)41Oholibama, Ela, Pinon,42Kenas, Teman, Mibzar,43Magdiël und Iram. Dies sind die Stämme Edoms und ihre Wohnsitze in dem Land, das sie in Besitz genommen haben. Dies ist die Nachkommenschaft Esaus, von dem die Edomiter abstammen.
