1Ich ermahne euch nun, Brüder und Schwestern, durch die Barmherzigkeit Gottes, dass ihr euren Leib hingebt als ein Opfer, das lebendig, heilig und Gott wohlgefällig sei. Das sei euer vernünftiger Gottesdienst. (Röm 6,13)2Und stellt euch nicht dieser Welt gleich, sondern ändert euch durch Erneuerung eures Sinnes, auf dass ihr prüfen könnt, was Gottes Wille ist, nämlich das Gute und Wohlgefällige und Vollkommene. (Eph 4,23; Eph 5,10; Eph 5,17)
Die Gnadengaben im Dienst der Gemeinde
3Denn ich sage durch die Gnade, die mir gegeben ist, jedem unter euch, dass niemand mehr von sich halte, als sich’s gebührt, sondern dass er maßvoll von sich halte, wie Gott einem jeden zugeteilt hat das Maß des Glaubens. (Mt 20,26; 1Kor 4,6; 1Kor 12,11; Eph 4,7)4Denn wie wir an einem Leib viele Glieder haben, aber nicht alle Glieder dieselbe Aufgabe haben, (1Kor 12,12)5so sind wir, die vielen, ein Leib in Christus, aber untereinander ist einer des andern Glied. (1Kor 12,27; Eph 4,4; Eph 4,25)6Wir haben mancherlei Gaben nach der Gnade, die uns gegeben ist. Hat jemand prophetische Rede, so übe er sie dem Glauben gemäß. (1Kor 7,7; 1Kor 12,4; 1Petr 4,10)7Hat jemand ein Amt, so versehe er dies Amt. Ist jemand Lehrer, so lehre er. (1Petr 4,11)8Hat jemand die Gabe, zu ermahnen und zu trösten, so ermahne und tröste er. Wer gibt, gebe mit lauterem Sinn. Wer leitet, tue es mit Eifer. Wer Barmherzigkeit übt, tue es mit Freude. (Mt 6,3; 2Kor 8,2; 2Kor 9,7)
Das Leben der Gemeinde
9Die Liebe sei ohne Falsch. Hasst das Böse, hängt dem Guten an. (Am 5,15; 1Tim 1,5)10Die brüderliche Liebe untereinander sei herzlich. Einer komme dem andern mit Ehrerbietung zuvor. (Phil 2,3)11Seid nicht träge in dem, was ihr tun sollt. Seid brennend im Geist. Dient dem Herrn. (Apg 18,25; Kol 3,23; Offb 3,15)12Seid fröhlich in Hoffnung, geduldig in Trübsal, beharrlich im Gebet.13Nehmt euch der Nöte der Heiligen an. Übt Gastfreundschaft. (Hebr 13,2; 1Petr 4,9; 3Joh 1,5)14Segnet, die euch verfolgen; segnet, und verflucht sie nicht. (Mt 5,44; 1Kor 4,12)15Freut euch mit den Fröhlichen, weint mit den Weinenden. (1Kor 12,26)16Seid eines Sinnes untereinander. Trachtet nicht nach hohen Dingen, sondern haltet euch zu den niedrigen. Haltet euch nicht selbst für klug. (Jes 5,21; Röm 15,5; Phil 2,2)17Vergeltet niemandem Böses mit Bösem. Seid auf Gutes bedacht gegenüber jedermann. (Spr 20,22; 2Kor 8,21; 1Thess 5,15)18Ist’s möglich, soviel an euch liegt, so habt mit allen Menschen Frieden. (1Thess 5,13; Hebr 12,14)19Rächt euch nicht selbst, meine Lieben, sondern gebt Raum dem Zorn Gottes; denn es steht geschrieben: »Die Rache ist mein; ich will vergelten, spricht der Herr.« (3Mo 19,18; 5Mo 32,35; Mt 5,38)20Vielmehr, »wenn deinen Feind hungert, so gib ihm zu essen; dürstet ihn, so gib ihm zu trinken. Wenn du das tust, so wirst du feurige Kohlen auf sein Haupt sammeln« (2Kön 6,22)21Lass dich nicht vom Bösen überwinden, sondern überwinde das Böse mit Gutem.
1Brothers and sisters, God has shown you his mercy. So I am asking you to offer up your bodies to him while you are still alive. Your bodies are a holy sacrifice that is pleasing to God. When you offer your bodies to God, you are worshipping him in the right way.2Don’t live the way this world lives. Let your way of thinking be completely changed. Then you will be able to test what God wants for you. And you will agree that what he wants is right. His plan is good and pleasing and perfect.
Serving one another in the body of Christ
3God’s grace has been given to me. So here is what I say to every one of you. Don’t think of yourself more highly than you should. Be reasonable when you think about yourself. Keep in mind the faith God has given to each of you.4Each of us has one body with many parts. And the parts do not all have the same purpose.5So also we are many people. But in Christ we are one body. And each part of the body belongs to all the other parts.6We all have gifts. They differ according to the grace God has given to each of us. Do you have the gift of prophecy? Then use it according to the faith you have.7If your gift is serving, then serve. If it is teaching, then teach.8Is it encouraging others? Then encourage them. Is it giving to others? Then give freely. Is it being a leader? Then work hard at it. Is it showing mercy? Then do it cheerfully.
Love in action
9Love must be honest and true. Hate what is evil. Hold on to what is good.10Love one another deeply. Honour others more than yourselves.11Stay excited about your faith as you serve the Lord.12When you hope, be joyful. When you suffer, be patient. When you pray, be faithful.13Share with the Lord’s people who are in need. Welcome others into your homes.14Bless those who hurt you. Bless them, and do not curse them.15Be joyful with those who are joyful. Be sad with those who are sad.16Agree with one another. Don’t be proud. Be willing to be a friend of people who aren’t considered important. Don’t think that you are better than others.17Don’t pay back evil with evil. Be careful to do what everyone thinks is right.18If possible, live in peace with everyone. Do that as much as you can.19My dear friends, don’t try to get even. Leave room for God to show his anger. It is written, ‘I am the God who judges people. I will pay them back,’ says the Lord. (5Mo 32,35)20Do just the opposite. Scripture says, ‘If your enemies are hungry, give them food to eat. If they are thirsty, give them something to drink. By doing those things, you will pile up burning coals on their heads.’ (Spr 25,21; Spr 25,22)21Don’t let evil overcome you. Overcome evil by doing good.
