1 Und ich hörte eine große Stimme aus dem Tempel, die sprach zu den sieben Engeln: Geht hin und gießt aus die sieben Schalen des Zornes Gottes auf die Erde! (Jer 10,25) 2 Und der erste ging hin und goss seine Schale aus auf die Erde; und es entstand ein böses und schlimmes Geschwür an den Menschen, die das Zeichen des Tieres hatten und die sein Bild anbeteten. (2Mo 9,10) 3 Und der zweite goss aus seine Schale ins Meer; und es wurde zu Blut wie von einem Toten, und alle lebendigen Wesen im Meer starben. (Offb 8,8) 4 Und der dritte goss aus seine Schale in die Wasserströme und in die Wasserquellen; und es wurde Blut. 5 Und ich hörte den Engel der Wasser sagen: Gerecht bist du, der du bist und der du warst, du Heiliger, dass du dieses Urteil gesprochen hast; 6 denn sie haben das Blut der Heiligen und der Propheten vergossen, und Blut hast du ihnen zu trinken gegeben; sie sind’s wert. (Offb 6,9) 7 Und ich hörte den Altar sagen: Ja, Herr, allmächtiger Gott, deine Gerichte sind wahrhaftig und gerecht. (Offb 9,13) 8 Und der vierte Engel goss aus seine Schale über die Sonne; und es wurde ihr Macht gegeben, die Menschen zu versengen mit Feuer. 9 Und die Menschen wurden versengt von der großen Hitze und lästerten den Namen Gottes, der Macht hat über diese Plagen, und taten nicht Buße, ihm die Ehre zu geben. 10 Und der fünfte Engel goss aus seine Schale auf den Thron des Tieres; und sein Reich wurde verfinstert, und die Menschen zerbissen ihre Zungen vor Schmerzen (2Mo 10,21) 11 und lästerten Gott im Himmel wegen ihrer Schmerzen und wegen ihrer Geschwüre und taten nicht Buße für ihre Werke. 12 Und der sechste goss aus seine Schale auf den großen Strom Euphrat; und sein Wasser trocknete aus, damit der Weg bereitet würde den Königen vom Aufgang der Sonne. (Jes 11,15) 13 Und ich sah aus dem Rachen des Drachen und aus dem Rachen des Tieres und aus dem Munde des falschen Propheten drei unreine Geister kommen, gleich Fröschen; (Offb 12,3) 14 es sind Geister von Dämonen, die tun Zeichen und gehen aus zu den Königen der ganzen Welt, sie zu versammeln zum Kampf am großen Tag Gottes, des Allmächtigen. – 15 Siehe, ich komme wie ein Dieb. Selig ist, der da wacht und seine Kleider bewahrt, damit er nicht nackt gehe und man seine Blöße sehe. – (Offb 3,3) 16 Und er versammelte sie an einen Ort, der heißt auf Hebräisch Harmagedon. 17 Und der siebente Engel goss aus seine Schale in die Luft; und es kam eine große Stimme aus dem Tempel vom Thron, die sprach: Es ist geschehen! 18 Und es geschahen Blitze und Stimmen und Donner, und es geschah ein großes Erdbeben, wie es noch nicht gewesen ist, seit Menschen auf Erden sind – ein solches Erdbeben, so groß. 19 Und aus der großen Stadt wurden drei Teile, und die Städte der Völker stürzten ein. Und Babylon, der Großen, wurde gedacht vor Gott, dass ihr gegeben werde der Kelch mit dem Wein seines grimmigen Zorns. (Offb 14,8) 20 Und alle Inseln verschwanden, und die Berge wurden nicht mehr gefunden. (Offb 6,14) 21 Und ein großer Hagel wie Zentnergewichte fiel vom Himmel auf die Menschen; und die Menschen lästerten Gott wegen der Plage des Hagels; denn diese Plage ist sehr groß. (2Mo 9,23)

The seven bowls of God’s great anger

1 Then I heard a loud voice from the temple speaking to the seven angels. ‘Go’, it said. ‘Pour out the seven bowls of God’s great anger on the earth.’ 2 The first angel went and poured out his bowl on the land. Ugly and painful sores broke out on people. Those people had the mark of the beast and worshipped its statue. 3 The second angel poured out his bowl on the sea. It turned into blood like the blood of a dead person. Every living thing in the sea died. 4 The third angel poured out his bowl on the rivers and springs of water. They became blood. 5 Then I heard the angel who was in charge of the waters. He said, ‘Holy One, the way you judge is fair. You are the God who is and who was. 6 Those who worship the beast have poured out blood. They have poured out the life’s blood of your holy people and your prophets. So you have given blood to drink to those who worship the beast. That’s exactly what they should get.’ 7 Then I heard the altar reply. It said, ‘Lord God who rules over all, the way you judge is true and fair.’ 8 The fourth angel poured out his bowl on the sun. The sun was allowed to burn people with fire. 9 They were burned by the blazing heat. So they spoke evil things against the name of God, who controlled these plagues. But they refused to turn away from their sins. They did not give glory to God. 10 The fifth angel poured out his bowl on the throne of the beast. The kingdom of the beast became very dark. People chewed on their tongues because they were suffering so much. 11 They spoke evil things against the God of heaven. They did this because of their pains and their sores. But they refused to turn away from the sins they had committed. 12 The sixth angel poured out his bowl on the great river Euphrates. Its water dried up to prepare the way for the kings from the East. 13 Then I saw three evil spirits that looked like frogs. They came out of the mouths of the dragon, the beast and the false prophet. 14 They are spirits of demons that perform signs. They go out to gather the kings of the whole world for battle. This battle will take place on the great day of the God who rules over all. 15 ‘Look! I am coming like a thief! Blessed is anyone who stays awake and keeps their clothes on. Then they will be ready. They will not be caught naked and so be put to shame.’ 16 Then the evil spirits gathered the kings together. In the Hebrew language, the place where the kings met is called Armageddon. 17 The seventh angel poured out his bowl into the air. Out of the temple came a loud voice from the throne. It said, ‘It is done!’ 18 Then there came flashes of lightning, rumblings, thunder and a powerful earthquake. There has never been an earthquake as terrible as this. One like this hasn’t happened while human beings have lived on earth. 19 The great city split into three parts. The cities of the nations crumbled and fell. God remembered Babylon the Great. He gave Babylon the cup filled with the wine of his terrible anger. 20 Every island ran away. The mountains could not be found. 21 Huge hailstones weighing about 40 kilograms each fell from the sky. The hail crushed people. And they spoke evil things against God because of the plague. That’s because the plague of hail was so terrible.
