Jesu Versuchung

1 Jesus aber, voll Heiligen Geistes, kam zurück vom Jordan. Und er wurde vom Geist in der Wüste umhergeführt (Mt 4,1; Mk 1,12) 2 vierzig Tage lang und von dem Teufel versucht. Und er aß nichts in diesen Tagen, und als sie ein Ende hatten, hungerte ihn. 3 Der Teufel aber sprach zu ihm: Bist du Gottes Sohn, so sprich zu diesem Stein, dass er Brot werde. 4 Und Jesus antwortete ihm: Es steht geschrieben: »Der Mensch lebt nicht vom Brot allein.«^[1] (5Mo 8,3; Mt 4,4) 5 Und der Teufel führte ihn hoch hinauf und zeigte ihm alle Reiche der ganzen Welt in einem Augenblick 6 und sprach zu ihm: Alle diese Macht will ich dir geben und ihre Herrlichkeit; denn sie ist mir übergeben und ich gebe sie, wem ich will. 7 Wenn du mich nun anbetest, so soll sie ganz dein sein. 8 Jesus antwortete und sprach zu ihm: Es steht geschrieben: »Du sollst den Herrn, deinen Gott, anbeten und ihm allein dienen.« (5Mo 6,13) 9 Und er führte ihn nach Jerusalem und stellte ihn auf die Zinne des Tempels und sprach zu ihm: Bist du Gottes Sohn, so wirf dich von hier hinunter; 10 denn es steht geschrieben: »Er wird befehlen seinen Engeln für dich, dass sie dich bewahren.« 11 Und: »Sie werden dich auf den Händen tragen, damit du deinen Fuß nicht an einen Stein stößt.« 12 Jesus antwortete und sprach zu ihm: Es ist gesagt: »Du sollst den Herrn, deinen Gott, nicht versuchen.« (5Mo 6,16) 13 Und als der Teufel alle Versuchung vollendet hatte, wich er von ihm bis zur bestimmten Zeit. (Lk 22,3; Hebr 4,15)

Der Beginn des Wirkens Jesu in Galiläa

14 Und Jesus kam in der Kraft des Geistes wieder nach Galiläa; und die Kunde von ihm erscholl durch das ganze umliegende Land. (Mt 4,12; Mk 1,14) 15 Und er lehrte in ihren Synagogen und wurde von jedermann gepriesen.

Jesu Predigt in Nazareth

16 Und er kam nach Nazareth, wo er aufgewachsen war, und ging nach seiner Gewohnheit am Sabbat in die Synagoge und stand auf, um zu lesen. (Mt 13,53; Mk 6,1) 17 Da wurde ihm das Buch des Propheten Jesaja gereicht. Und als er das Buch auftat, fand er die Stelle, wo geschrieben steht: 18 »Der Geist des Herrn ist auf mir, weil er mich gesalbt hat und gesandt, zu verkündigen das Evangelium den Armen, zu predigen den Gefangenen, dass sie frei sein sollen, und den Blinden, dass sie sehen sollen, und die Zerschlagenen zu entlassen in die Freiheit (Jes 42,7; Jes 58,6) 19 und zu verkündigen das Gnadenjahr des Herrn.« (3Mo 25,10) 20 Und als er das Buch zutat, gab er’s dem Diener und setzte sich. Und aller Augen in der Synagoge sahen auf ihn. 21 Und er fing an, zu ihnen zu reden: Heute ist dieses Wort der Schrift erfüllt vor euren Ohren. 22 Und sie gaben alle Zeugnis von ihm und wunderten sich über die Worte der Gnade, die aus seinem Munde kamen, und sprachen: Ist das nicht Josefs Sohn? (Lk 3,23) 23 Und er sprach zu ihnen: Ihr werdet mir freilich dies Sprichwort sagen: Arzt, hilf dir selber! Denn wie große Dinge haben wir gehört, die in Kapernaum geschehen sind! Tu so auch hier in deiner Vaterstadt! 24 Er sprach aber: Wahrlich, ich sage euch: Kein Prophet ist willkommen in seinem Vaterland. (Joh 4,44) 25 Aber wahrhaftig, ich sage euch: Es waren viele Witwen in Israel zur Zeit des Elia, als der Himmel verschlossen war drei Jahre und sechs Monate und eine große Hungersnot herrschte im ganzen Lande, (1Kön 17,1; 1Kön 17,9) 26 und zu keiner von ihnen wurde Elia gesandt als allein nach Sarepta im Gebiet von Sidon zu einer Witwe. 27 Und viele Aussätzige waren in Israel zur Zeit des Propheten Elisa, und keiner von ihnen wurde rein als allein Naaman, der Syrer. (2Kön 5,1) 28 Und alle, die in der Synagoge waren, wurden von Zorn erfüllt, als sie das hörten. 29 Und sie standen auf und stießen ihn zur Stadt hinaus und führten ihn an den Abhang des Berges, auf dem ihre Stadt gebaut war, um ihn hinabzustürzen. 30 Aber er ging mitten durch sie hinweg.

Jesus in Kapernaum

31 Und er ging hinab nach Kapernaum, einer Stadt in Galiläa, und lehrte sie am Sabbat. (Mt 4,13; Mt 8,14; Mk 1,21; Joh 2,12)

32 Und sie waren bestürzt über seine Lehre; denn seine Rede war gewaltig. (Mt 7,28; Joh 7,46) 33 Und es war ein Mensch in der Synagoge, besessen von einem Dämon, einem unreinen Geist, und der schrie laut: 34 Halt, was haben wir mit dir zu schaffen, Jesus von Nazareth? Bist du gekommen, uns zu vernichten? Ich weiß, wer du bist: der Heilige Gottes! 35 Und Jesus bedrohte ihn und sprach: Verstumme und fahre aus von ihm! Und der Dämon warf ihn mitten unter sie und fuhr von ihm aus und tat ihm keinen Schaden. 36 Und es kam eine Furcht über sie alle, und sie redeten miteinander und sprachen: Was ist das für ein Wort? Er gebietet mit Vollmacht und Gewalt den unreinen Geistern, und sie fahren aus. 37 Und die Kunde von ihm erscholl in alle Orte des umliegenden Landes. 38 Und er machte sich auf aus der Synagoge und kam in Simons Haus. Und Simons Schwiegermutter lag in hohem Fieber, und sie baten ihn für sie. 39 Und er trat zu ihr und bedrohte das Fieber, und es verließ sie. Und sogleich stand sie auf und diente ihnen. 40 Und als die Sonne untergegangen war, brachten alle ihre Kranken mit mancherlei Leiden zu ihm. Und er legte einem jeden die Hände auf und machte sie gesund. 41 Von vielen fuhren auch die Dämonen aus, schrien und sprachen: Du bist der Sohn Gottes! Und er bedrohte sie und ließ sie nicht reden; denn sie wussten, dass er der Christus war. (Mt 8,29; Mk 3,11) 42 Als es aber Tag wurde, ging er hinaus an eine einsame Stätte; und die Menge suchte ihn, und sie kamen zu ihm und wollten ihn festhalten, damit er nicht von ihnen ginge. 43 Er sprach aber zu ihnen: Ich muss auch den andern Städten das Evangelium predigen vom Reich Gottes; denn dazu bin ich gesandt. 44 Und er predigte in den Synagogen des jüdischen Landes. Jesus is tempted in the desert

1 Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, left the River Jordan. The Spirit led him into the desert. 2 There the devil tempted him for 40 days. Jesus ate nothing during that time. At the end of the 40 days, he was hungry. 3 The devil said to him, ‘If you are the Son of God, tell this stone to become bread.’ 4 Jesus answered, ‘It is written, “Man must not live only on bread.” ’ (5Mo 8,3) 5 Then the devil led Jesus up to a high place. In an instant, he showed Jesus all the kingdoms of the world. 6 He said to Jesus, ‘I will give you all their authority and glory. It has been given to me, and I can give it to anyone I want to. 7 If you worship me, it will all be yours.’ 8 Jesus answered, ‘It is written, “Worship the Lord your God. He is the only one you should serve.” ’ (5Mo 6,13) 9 Then the devil led Jesus to Jerusalem. He had Jesus stand on the highest point of the temple. ‘If you are the Son of God,’ he said, ‘throw yourself down from here. 10 It is written, ‘ “The Lord will command his angels to take good care of you. 11 They will lift you up in their hands. Then you won’t trip over a stone.” ’ (Ps 91,11; Ps 91,12) 12 Jesus answered, ‘Scripture says, “Do not test the Lord your God.” ’ (5Mo 6,16) 13 When the devil finished all this tempting, he left Jesus until a better time.

Jesus is not accepted in Nazareth

14 Jesus returned to Galilee in the power of the Holy Spirit. News about him spread through the whole countryside. 15 He was teaching in their synagogues, and everyone praised him. 16 Jesus went to Nazareth, where he had been brought up. On the Sabbath day he went into the synagogue as he usually did. He stood up to read. 17 And the scroll of Isaiah the prophet was handed to him. Jesus unrolled it and found the right place. There it is written, 18 ‘The Spirit of the Lord is on me. He has anointed me to announce the good news to poor people. He has sent me to announce freedom for prisoners. He has sent me so that the blind will see again. He wants me to set free those who are treated badly. 19 And he has sent me to announce the year when he will set his people free.’ (Jes 61,1; Jes 61,2) 20 Then Jesus rolled up the scroll. He gave it back to the attendant and sat down. The eyes of everyone in the synagogue were staring at him. 21 He began by saying to them, ‘Today this passage of Scripture is coming true as you listen.’ 22 Everyone said good things about him. They were amazed at the gracious words they heard from his lips. ‘Isn’t this Joseph’s son?’ they asked. 23 Jesus said, ‘Here is a saying you will certainly apply to me. “Doctor, heal yourself!” And you will tell me this. “Do the things here in your home town that we heard you did in Capernaum.” ’ 24 ‘What I’m about to tell you is true,’ he continued. ‘A prophet is not accepted in his home town. 25 I tell you for sure that there were many widows in Israel in the days of Elijah. And there had been no rain for three and a half years. There wasn’t enough food to eat anywhere in the land. 26 But Elijah was not sent to any of those widows. Instead, he was sent to a widow in Zarephath near Sidon. 27 And there were many in Israel who had skin diseases in the days of Elisha the prophet. But not one of them was healed except Naaman the Syrian.’ 28 All the people in the synagogue were very angry when they heard that. 29 They got up and ran Jesus out of town. They took him to the edge of the hill on which the town was built. They planned to throw him off the cliff. 30 But Jesus walked right through the crowd and went on his way.

Jesus drives out an evil spirit

31 Then Jesus went to Capernaum, a town in Galilee. On the Sabbath day he taught the people. 32 They were amazed at his teaching, because his words had authority. 33 In the synagogue there was a man controlled by a demon, an evil spirit. He cried out at the top of his voice. 34 ‘Go away!’ he said. ‘What do you want with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are. You are the Holy One of God!’ 35 ‘Be quiet!’ Jesus said firmly. ‘Come out of him!’ Then the demon threw the man down in front of everybody. And it came out without hurting him. 36 All the people were amazed. They said to each other, ‘What he says is amazing! With authority and power he gives orders to evil spirits. And they come out!’ 37 The news about Jesus spread throughout the whole area.

Jesus heals many people

38 Jesus left the synagogue and went to the home of Simon. At that time, Simon’s mother-in-law was suffering from a high fever. So they asked Jesus to help her. 39 He bent over her and commanded the fever to leave, and it left her. She got up right away and began to serve them. 40 At sunset, people brought to Jesus all who were ill. He placed his hands on each one and healed them. 41 Also, demons came out of many people. The demons shouted, ‘You are the Son of God!’ But he commanded them to be quiet. He would not allow them to speak, because they knew he was the Messiah. 42 At dawn, Jesus went out to a place where he could be by himself. The people went to look for him. When they found him, they tried to keep him from leaving them. 43 But he said, ‘I must announce the good news of God’s kingdom to the other towns also. That is why I was sent.’ 44 And he kept on preaching in the synagogues of Judea.
