Jeremia und Hananja

1 In demselben Jahr, im Anfang der Herrschaft Zedekias, des Königs von Juda, im fünften Monat des vierten Jahrs, sprach Hananja, der Sohn Asurs, ein Prophet von Gibeon, zu mir im Hause des HERRN in Gegenwart der Priester und des ganzen Volks: 2 So spricht der HERR Zebaoth, der Gott Israels: Ich habe das Joch des Königs von Babel zerbrochen! 3 Ehe zwei Jahre um sind, will ich alle Geräte des Hauses des HERRN, die Nebukadnezar, der König von Babel, von diesem Ort weggenommen und nach Babel geführt hat, wieder an diesen Ort bringen; (Jer 27,16) 4 auch Jechonja, den Sohn Jojakims, den König von Juda, samt allen Weggeführten aus Juda, die nach Babel gekommen sind, will ich wieder an diesen Ort bringen, spricht der HERR, denn ich will das Joch des Königs von Babel zerbrechen. (Jer 27,20) 5 Da sprach der Prophet Jeremia zu dem Propheten Hananja in Gegenwart der Priester und des ganzen Volks, die im Hause des HERRN standen, 6 und sagte: Amen! Der HERR tue so; der HERR bestätige dein Wort, das du geweissagt hast, dass er die Geräte aus dem Hause des HERRN von Babel wiederbringe an diesen Ort und alle Weggeführten. 7 Doch höre dies Wort, das ich vor deinen Ohren rede und vor den Ohren des ganzen Volks: 8 Die Propheten, die vor mir und vor dir gewesen sind von alters her, die haben gegen viele Länder und große Königreiche geweissagt von Krieg, von Unheil und Pest. 9 Wenn aber ein Prophet von Heil weissagt – ob ihn der HERR wahrhaftig gesandt hat, wird man daran erkennen, dass sein Wort erfüllt wird. (5Mo 18,21) 10 Da nahm der Prophet Hananja das Joch vom Nacken des Propheten Jeremia und zerbrach es. (Jer 27,2) 11 Und Hananja sprach in Gegenwart des ganzen Volks: So spricht der HERR: Ebenso will ich zerbrechen das Joch Nebukadnezars, des Königs von Babel, ehe zwei Jahre um sind, und es vom Nacken aller Völker nehmen. Und der Prophet Jeremia ging seines Weges. 12 Aber des HERRN Wort geschah zu Jeremia, nachdem der Prophet Hananja das Joch auf dem Nacken des Propheten Jeremia zerbrochen hatte: 13 Geh hin und sage Hananja: So spricht der HERR: Du hast hölzerne Jochstangen zerbrochen; so hast du nun eiserne Jochstangen an ihre Stelle gesetzt. 14 Denn so spricht der HERR Zebaoth, der Gott Israels: Ein eisernes Joch habe ich allen diesen Völkern auf den Nacken gelegt, dass sie untertan sein sollen Nebukadnezar, dem König von Babel, und ihm dienen, und auch die wilden Tiere habe ich ihm gegeben. (5Mo 28,48; Jer 27,6) 15 Und der Prophet Jeremia sprach zum Propheten Hananja: Höre doch, Hananja! Der HERR hat dich nicht gesandt; aber du machst, dass dies Volk sich auf Lügen verlässt. 16 Darum, so spricht der HERR: Siehe, ich will dich vom Erdboden nehmen; dies Jahr sollst du sterben, denn du hast sie mit deiner Rede vom HERRN abgewendet. (5Mo 13,6) 17 Und der Prophet Hananja starb im selben Jahr im siebenten Monat.

The false prophet Hananiah opposes Jeremiah

1 The false prophet Hananiah spoke to me, Jeremiah, in the LORD’s house. Hananiah was from Gibeon. He was the son of Azzur. It was shortly after Zedekiah became king of Judah. It was in the fifth month of his fourth year. In front of the priests and all the people Hananiah spoke to me. He said, 2 ‘The LORD who rules over all is the God of Israel. He says, “I will break the yoke of the king of Babylon. 3 Nebuchadnezzar, the king of Babylon, removed all the objects that belong to my house. He took them to Babylon. Before two years are over, I will bring them back to this place. 4 I will also bring King Jehoiachin back. He is the son of Jehoiakim. And I will bring back all the others who were taken from Judah to Babylon,” announces the LORD. “I will break the yoke of the king of Babylon.” ’ 5 Then Jeremiah the prophet replied to the false prophet Hananiah. Jeremiah spoke to him in front of the priests and all the people. They were standing in the LORD’s house. 6 Jeremiah said, ‘Amen, Hananiah! May the LORD do those things! May he make the words you have prophesied come true. May he bring back from Babylon the objects that belong to the LORD’s house. May he bring back to this place all the people who were taken away. 7 But listen to what I have to say. I want you and all the people to hear it. 8 There have been prophets long before you and I were ever born. They have prophesied against many countries and great kingdoms. They have spoken about war, trouble and plague. 9 But what if a prophet says peace will come? And suppose peace really does come? Only then will he be recognised as a prophet truly sent by the LORD.’ 10 The false prophet Hananiah took the yoke off the neck of Jeremiah the prophet. Then Hananiah broke the yoke. 11 In front of all the people he said, ‘The LORD says, “In the same way, I will break the yoke of Nebuchadnezzar, the king of Babylon. Before two years are over, I will remove it from the necks of all the nations.” ’ When Jeremiah the prophet heard this, he went on his way. 12 A message from the LORD came to Jeremiah. It was after the false prophet Hananiah had broken the yoke off Jeremiah’s neck. The message said, 13 ‘Go. Tell Hananiah, “The LORD says, ‘You have broken a wooden yoke. But in its place you will get an iron yoke.’ 14 The LORD who rules over all is the God of Israel. He says, ‘I will put an iron yoke on the necks of all these nations. I will make them serve Nebuchadnezzar, the king of Babylon. So they will serve him. I will even give him control over the wild animals.’ ” ’ 15 Then Jeremiah the prophet spoke to the false prophet Hananiah. Jeremiah said, ‘Listen, Hananiah! The LORD hasn’t sent you. But you have tricked these people. Now they trust in lies. 16 So the LORD says, “I am about to remove you from the face of the earth. Before this year is over, you will die. You have taught the people to turn against me.” ’ 17 In the seventh month of that very year, the false prophet Hananiah died.
