1Du sollst Aaron, deinen Bruder, und seine Söhne zu dir herantreten lassen aus der Mitte der Israeliten, dass er mein Priester sei, er und seine Söhne Nadab, Abihu, Eleasar und Itamar. (2Mo 6,23; 2Mo 39,1; 1Chr 23,13)2Und du sollst Aaron, deinem Bruder, heilige Kleider machen zur Ehre und als Schmuck3und sollst reden mit allen, die weisen Herzens sind, die ich mit dem Geist der Weisheit erfüllt habe, dass sie Aaron Kleider machen zu seiner Weihe, dass er mein Priester sei. (2Mo 31,3)4Dies sind aber die Kleider, die sie machen sollen: Brusttasche, Schurz, Obergewand, enges Untergewand, Kopfbund und Gürtel. So sollen sie heilige Kleider machen deinem Bruder Aaron und seinen Söhnen, dass er mein Priester sei.5Sie sollen Gold, blauen und roten Purpur, Karmesin und feines Leinen dazu nehmen. (2Mo 26,1)6Den Priesterschurz sollen sie machen aus Gold, blauem und rotem Purpur, Karmesin und gezwirntem feinem Leinen, kunstreich gewirkt.7Zwei Schulterteile soll er haben, die angefügt sind; an seinen beiden Enden soll er zusammengebunden werden.8Und die Binde, die daran ist, um ihn anlegen zu können, soll von derselben Arbeit und aus einem Stück mit ihm sein, aus Gold, blauem und rotem Purpur, Karmesin und gezwirntem feinem Leinen.9Und du sollst zwei Onyxsteine nehmen und darauf einschneiden die Namen der Söhne Israels, (2Mo 25,7)10auf jeden sechs Namen nach der Ordnung ihres Alters.11Du sollst die Namen der Söhne Israels in die Steine schneiden wie in ein Siegel, und sie sollen mit Gold eingefasst werden.12Und du sollst sie auf die Schulterteile des Schurzes heften, dass es Steine seien zum gnädigen Gedenken an die Israeliten, sodass Aaron ihre Namen auf seinen beiden Schultern trage vor dem HERRN, damit der HERR ihrer gedenke.13Und du sollst Goldfassungen machen14und zwei Ketten von feinem Golde; als geflochtene Schnüre sollst du sie machen und diese Schnüre an den Fassungen befestigen.15Die Brusttasche für die Lose zum Rechtsentscheid sollst du wie den Priesterschurz machen, kunstreich gewirkt, aus Gold, blauem und rotem Purpur, Karmesin und gezwirntem feinem Leinen.16Viereckig soll sie sein und doppelt gelegt; eine Spanne soll ihre Länge sein und eine Spanne ihre Breite.17Und du sollst sie besetzen mit vier Reihen von Steinen. Die erste Reihe sei ein Sarder, ein Topas und ein Smaragd,18die andere ein Rubin, ein Saphir und ein Diamant,19die dritte ein Lynkurer, ein Achat und ein Amethyst,20die vierte ein Türkis, ein Onyx und ein Jaspis; in Gold sollen sie gefasst sein, wenn man sie anbringt.21Zwölf sollen es sein wie auf einem Siegel nach den Namen der Söhne Israels, dass auf jedem ein Name stehe nach den zwölf Stämmen.22Und du sollst Ketten zu der Tasche wie geflochtene Schnüre machen aus feinem Golde23und zwei goldene Ringe für die Tasche, sodass du die beiden Ringe an zwei Ecken der Tasche heftest24und die beiden goldenen Schnüre in die beiden Ringe an den Ecken der Tasche tust.25Aber die beiden andern Enden der zwei Schnüre sollst du an den beiden goldenen Fassungen befestigen und sie an die Schulterteile des Priesterschurzes vorn anheften.26Und du sollst zwei andere goldene Ringe machen und an die beiden andern Ecken der Tasche heften an ihren Rand innen zum Schurz hin.27Und du sollst abermals zwei goldene Ringe machen und sie unten an die beiden Schulterteile vorn am Schurz anheften, wo der Schurz zusammengeht, oben über der Binde des Schurzes.28Und man soll die Tasche mit ihren Ringen mit einer Schnur von blauem Purpur an die Ringe des Schurzes knüpfen, dass sie über der Binde des Schurzes anliege und die Tasche sich nicht von dem Schurz losmache.29So soll Aaron die Namen der Söhne Israels in der Brusttasche auf seinem Herzen tragen, wenn er in das Heiligtum geht, zum gnädigen Gedenken vor dem HERRN allezeit.30Und du sollst in die Brusttasche tun die Lose »Licht und Recht«, sodass sie auf dem Herzen Aarons seien, wenn er hineingeht vor den HERRN, dass er die Entscheidungen für die Israeliten auf seinem Herzen trage vor dem HERRN allezeit. (3Mo 8,8; 4Mo 27,21; 5Mo 33,8)31Du sollst auch das Obergewand unter dem Schurz ganz aus blauem Purpur machen.32Und oben in der Mitte soll eine Öffnung sein und eine Borte um die Öffnung herum in Weberarbeit wie bei einem Panzerhemd, dass sie nicht einreiße.33Und unten an seinem Saum sollst du Granatäpfel machen aus blauem und rotem Purpur und Karmesin ringsherum und zwischen sie goldene Schellen auch ringsherum,34dass eine goldene Schelle sei, danach ein Granatapfel und wieder eine goldene Schelle und wieder ein Granatapfel ringsherum an dem Saum des Obergewandes.35Und Aaron soll es anhaben, wenn er dient, dass man seinen Klang höre, wenn er hineingeht ins Heiligtum vor den HERRN und wieder herauskommt; so wird er nicht sterben. (2Mo 30,21; 3Mo 16,2; 3Mo 16,13)36Du sollst auch ein Stirnblatt machen aus feinem Golde und darauf einschneiden, wie man Siegel schneidet: »Heilig dem HERRN«.37Und du sollst es heften an eine Schnur von blauem Purpur vorn an den Kopfbund.38Und es soll sein auf der Stirn Aarons, damit Aaron bei allen ihren Opfern alle Sünde trage, die an den heiligen Gaben der Israeliten haftet. Und es soll allezeit an seiner Stirn sein, dass sie wohlgefällig seien vor dem HERRN.39Du sollst auch das enge Untergewand aus feinem Leinen machen und einen Kopfbund aus feinem Leinen und einen bunt gewebten Gürtel.40Und den Söhnen Aarons sollst du Untergewänder, Gürtel und hohe Mützen machen zur Ehre und als Schmuck (2Mo 2,1)41und sollst sie deinem Bruder Aaron samt seinen Söhnen anlegen und sollst sie salben und ihre Hände füllen[1] und sie weihen, dass sie meine Priester seien. (2Mo 29,9; 2Mo 29,29; Ri 17,12)42Und du sollst ihnen leinene Beinkleider machen, um ihre Blöße zu bedecken, von den Hüften bis an die Schenkel.43Und Aaron und seine Söhne sollen sie anhaben, wenn sie in die Stiftshütte gehen oder hinzutreten zum Altar, um im Heiligtum zu dienen, damit sie keine Schuld auf sich laden und sterben müssen. Das soll für ihn und sein Geschlecht nach ihm eine ewige Ordnung sein.

I have given them the skill to do this kind of work. Tell them to make clothes for Aaron. He will wear them when he is set apart to serve me as priest.4The workers must make a chest cloth, a linen apron and an outer robe. They must also make an inner robe, a turban and a belt. They must make sacred clothes for your brother Aaron and his sons. Then they will serve me as priests.5Make the workers use thin gold wire, and blue, purple and bright red yarn, and fine linen.
The linen apron
6‘Make the linen apron out of thin gold wire, and out of blue, purple and bright red yarn, and out of finely twisted linen. Have a skilled worker make it.7It must have two shoulder straps joined to two of its corners.8Its skilfully made waistband must be like the apron. The waistband must be part of the apron itself. Make the waistband out of thin gold wire, and out of blue, purple and bright red yarn, and out of finely twisted linen.9‘Get two onyx stones. Carve the names of the sons of Israel on them.10Arrange them in the order of their birth. Carve six names on one stone and six on the other.11Carve the names of the sons of Israel on the two stones the way a jewel cutter would carve them. Then put the stones in fancy gold settings.12Connect them to the shoulder straps of the linen apron. The stones will stand for the sons of Israel. Aaron must carry the names on his shoulders as a constant reminder while he is serving the LORD.13Make fancy gold settings.14Make two braided chains out of pure gold. Make them like ropes. Join the chains to the settings.
The chest cloth
15‘Make a chest cloth that will be used for making decisions. Have a skilled worker make it. Make it like the linen apron. Use thin gold wire, and blue, purple and bright red yarn, and finely twisted linen.16Make it 25 centimetres square. Fold it in half.17Put four rows of valuable jewels on it. Put carnelian, chrysolite and beryl in the first row.18Put turquoise, lapis lazuli and emerald in the second row.19Put jacinth, agate and amethyst in the third row.20And put topaz, onyx and jasper in the fourth row. Put them in fancy gold settings.21Use a total of 12 stones. Use one for each of the names of the sons of Israel. Each stone must be carved with the name of one of the 12 tribes.22‘Make braided chains out of pure gold for the chest cloth. Make them like ropes.23Make two gold rings for the chest cloth. Connect them to two corners of it.24Join the two gold chains to the rings at the corners of the chest cloth.25Join the other ends of the chains to the two settings. Join them to the shoulder straps on the front of the linen apron.26Make two gold rings. Connect them to the other two corners of the chest cloth. Put them on the inside edge next to the apron.27Make two more gold rings. Connect them to the bottom of the shoulder straps on the front of the apron. Put them close to the seam. Put them right above the waistband of the apron.28The rings of the chest cloth must be tied to the rings of the apron. Tie them to the waistband with blue cord. Then the chest cloth will not swing out from the linen apron.29‘When Aaron enters the Holy Room, he will carry the names of the sons of Israel over his heart. Their names will be on the chest cloth of decision. They will be a continuing reminder while he is serving the LORD.30Also put the Urim and Thummim into the chest cloth. Then they will be over Aaron’s heart when he comes to serve the LORD. In that way, Aaron will always have what he needs to make decisions for the people of Israel. He will carry the Urim and Thummim over his heart while he is serving the LORD.
More clothes for the priests
31‘Make the outer robe of the linen apron completely out of blue cloth.32In the centre of the robe, make an opening for the head of the priest. Make an edge like a collar around the opening. Then it will not tear.33Make pomegranates out of blue, purple and bright red yarn. Sew them around the hem of the robe. Sew gold bells between them.34Sew a gold bell between every two pomegranates all around the hem of the robe.35Aaron must wear the robe when he serves as priest. The bells will jingle when he enters the Holy Room while he is serving the LORD. And they will jingle when he goes out. Then he will not die.36‘Make a plate out of pure gold. Carve words on it as if it were an official seal. Carve the words Set apart for the LORD.37Tie the plate to the front of the turban with a blue cord.38Aaron must wear this plate on his forehead all the time. He will be held responsible for all the sacred gifts the Israelites set apart. Then the LORD will accept the gifts.39‘Make the inner robe out of fine linen. And make the turban out of fine linen. The belt must be made by a person who sews skilfully.40Make inner robes, belts and caps for Aaron’s sons. When they are wearing them, people will honour his sons. They will also have respect for them.41Put all these clothes on your brother Aaron and his sons. Then pour olive oil on them and prepare them to serve me. Set them apart to serve me as priests.42‘Make linen underwear that reaches from the waist to the thigh.43Aaron and the priests in his family line must wear it when they enter the tent of meeting. They must also wear it when they approach the altar to serve in the Holy Room. Then they will not be found guilty and die. ‘For all time to come, that will be a law for Aaron and the priests in his family line.
