1 Als Mitarbeiter aber ermahnen wir euch, dass ihr nicht vergeblich die Gnade Gottes empfangt. (2Kor 1,24) 2 Denn er spricht: »Ich habe dich zur willkommenen Zeit erhört und habe dir am Tage des Heils geholfen.« Siehe, jetzt ist die willkommene Zeit, siehe, jetzt ist der Tag des Heils! Die Bewährung des Apostels in seinem Dienst

3 Und wir geben in nichts irgendeinen Anstoß, damit dieser Dienst nicht verlästert werde; 4 sondern in allem erweisen wir uns als Diener Gottes: in großer Geduld, in Bedrängnissen, in Nöten, in Ängsten, (1Kor 4,10; 2Kor 11,23) 5 in Schlägen, in Gefängnissen, in Aufruhr, in Mühen, im Wachen, im Fasten, 6 in Lauterkeit, in Erkenntnis, in Langmut, in Freundlichkeit, im Heiligen Geist, in ungefärbter Liebe, (1Tim 4,12) 7 in dem Wort der Wahrheit, in der Kraft Gottes, mit den Waffen der Gerechtigkeit zur Rechten und zur Linken, (1Kor 2,4; 2Kor 4,2) 8 in Ehre und Schande; in bösen Gerüchten und guten Gerüchten, als Verführer und doch wahrhaftig; 9 als die Unbekannten und doch bekannt; als die Sterbenden, und siehe, wir leben; als die Gezüchtigten und doch nicht getötet; (Ps 118,18; 2Kor 4,10) 10 als die Traurigen, aber allezeit fröhlich; als die Armen, aber die doch viele reich machen; als die nichts haben und doch alles haben.

Werbung um die Gemeinde und Warnung vor Götzendienst

11 O ihr Korinther, unser Mund hat sich euch gegenüber aufgetan, unser Herz ist weit geworden. 12 Eng ist nicht der Raum, den ihr in uns habt; eng aber ist’s in euren Herzen. 13 Gebt uns, was wir euch geben – ich rede wie zu meinen Kindern –, und macht auch ihr euer Herz weit. (1Kor 4,14) 14 Zieht nicht unter fremdem Joch mit den Ungläubigen. Denn was hat Gerechtigkeit zu schaffen mit Gesetzlosigkeit? Was hat das Licht für Gemeinschaft mit der Finsternis? (Eph 5,11) 15 Wie stimmt Christus überein mit Beliar^[1]? Oder was für ein Teil hat der Gläubige mit dem Ungläubigen? 16 Was hat der Tempel Gottes gemein mit den Götzen? Wir aber sind der Tempel des lebendigen Gottes; wie denn Gott sprach: »Ich will unter ihnen wohnen und wandeln und will ihr Gott sein, und sie sollen mein Volk sein.« (3Mo 26,11; 1Kor 3,16) 17 Darum »geht weg von ihnen und sondert euch ab«, spricht der Herr; »und rührt nichts Unreines an, so will ich euch annehmen (Offb 18,4) 18 und euer Vater sein und ihr sollt meine Söhne und Töchter sein«, spricht der allmächtige Herr. (Jes 43,6; Hos 2,1)

1 We work together with God. So we are asking you not to receive God’s grace and then do nothing with it. 2 He says, ‘When I had mercy on you, I heard you. On the day I saved you, I helped you.’ I tell you, now is the time God has mercy. Now is the day he saves. (Jes 49,8)

Paul’s sufferings

3 We don’t put anything in anyone’s way. So no one can find fault with our work for God. 4 Instead, we make it clear that we serve God in every way. We serve him by standing firm in troubles, hard times and suffering. 5 We don’t give up when we are beaten or put in prison. When people stir up trouble in the streets, we continue to serve God. We work hard for him. We go without sleep and food. 6 We remain pure. We understand completely what it means to serve God. We are patient and kind. We serve him in the power of the Holy Spirit. We serve him with true love. 7 We speak the truth. We serve in the power of God. We hold the weapons of godliness in the right hand and in the left. 8 We serve God in times of glory and shame. We serve him whether the news about us is bad or good. We are true to our calling. But people treat us as if we were pretenders. 9 We are known, but people treat us as if we were unknown. We are dying, but we continue to live. We are beaten, but we are not killed. 10 We are sad, but we are always full of joy. We are poor, but we make many people rich. We have nothing, but we own everything. 11 Believers at Corinth, we have spoken freely to you. We have opened our hearts wide to you. 12 We are not holding back our love from you. But you are holding back your love from us. 13 I speak to you as if you were my children. It is only fair that you open your hearts wide to us also.

Paul warns against worshipping false gods

14 Do not be joined to unbelievers. What do right and wrong have in common? Can light and darkness be friends? 15 How can Christ and Satan agree? Or what does a believer have in common with an unbeliever? 16 How can the temple of the true God and the statues of other gods agree? We are the temple of the living God. God has said, ‘I will live with them. I will walk among them. I will be their God. And they will be my people.’ (3Mo 26,12; Jer 32,38; Hes 37,27) 17 So, ‘Come out from among them and be separate, says the Lord. Do not touch anything that is not pure and “clean”. Then I will receive you.’ (Jes 52,11; Hes 20,34; Hes 20,41) 18 And, ‘I will be your Father. You will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord who rules over all.’ (2Sam 7,8; 2Sam 7,14)
