Jonatan rettet David vor Sauls Nachstellungen

1 Saul aber redete mit seinem Sohn Jonatan und mit allen seinen Knechten davon, dass er David töten wolle. Aber Jonatan, Sauls Sohn, hatte David sehr lieb. (1Sam 18,3) 2 Und Jonatan sagte es ihm weiter und sprach: Mein Vater Saul trachtet danach, dass er dich töte. Nun, so hüte dich morgen früh und bleib verborgen und verstecke dich. 3 Ich aber will hinausgehen und mich neben meinen Vater stellen auf dem Felde, wo du bist, und über dich mit meinem Vater reden; und was ich erfahre, will ich dir kundtun. 4 Und Jonatan redete das Beste von David mit seinem Vater Saul und sprach zu ihm: Es versündige sich der König nicht an seinem Knechte David, denn er hat sich nicht an dir versündigt, und sein Tun ist dir sehr nützlich. 5 Er hat sein Leben gewagt und den Philister erschlagen, und der HERR hat großes Heil für ganz Israel vollbracht. Das hast du gesehen und dich darüber gefreut. Warum willst du dich denn an unschuldigem Blut versündigen, dass du David ohne Grund tötest? (1Sam 17,50) 6 Da hörte Saul auf die Stimme Jonatans und schwor: So wahr der HERR lebt: Er soll nicht sterben! 7 Da rief Jonatan David und sagte ihm alle diese Worte und brachte ihn zu Saul; und David diente ihm wie früher.

Michal rettet David

8 Es erhob sich aber wieder ein Kampf, und David zog aus und kämpfte gegen die Philister und schlug sie so hart, dass sie vor ihm flohen. 9 Aber der böse Geist vom HERRN kam über Saul, und Saul saß in seinem Hause und hatte seinen Spieß in der Hand. David aber spielte mit der Hand auf den Saiten. (1Sam 16,14; 1Sam 16,23; 1Sam 18,10) 10 Und Saul trachtete danach, David mit dem Spieß an die Wand zu spießen. Er aber wich aus vor Saul, und der Spieß fuhr in die Wand. David aber floh und entrann in jener Nacht. 11 Saul sandte aber Boten zu Davids Haus, ihn zu bewachen und am Morgen zu töten. Doch Michal, Davids Frau, sagte es ihrem Mann und sprach: Wirst du nicht diese Nacht dein Leben retten, so musst du morgen sterben. (Ps 59,1) 12 Da ließ ihn Michal durchs Fenster hinab, dass er hinging, entfloh und entrann. (Jos 2,15) 13 Dann nahm Michal den Hausgott und legte ihn aufs Bett und ein Geflecht von Ziegenhaaren zu seinen Häupten und deckte ihn mit einem Kleid zu. (1Mo 31,19) 14 Da sandte Saul Boten, David zu holen. Sie aber sprach: Er ist krank. 15 Saul sandte abermals Boten, nach David zu sehen, und sprach: Bringt ihn her zu mir samt dem Bett, dass er getötet werde! 16 Als nun die Boten kamen, siehe, da lag der Hausgott im Bett und das Geflecht von Ziegenhaaren zu seinen Häupten. 17 Da sprach Saul zu Michal: Warum hast du mich so betrogen und meinen Feind entrinnen lassen? Michal sprach zu Saul: Er sagte zu mir: Lass mich gehen oder ich töte dich!

David flieht zu Samuel

18 David aber war geflohen und entrann und kam zu Samuel nach Rama und sagte ihm alles, was ihm Saul angetan hatte. Und er ging mit Samuel, und sie blieben zu Najot. 19 Und es wurde Saul angesagt: Siehe, David ist zu Najot in Rama. 20 Da sandte Saul Boten, um David zu holen. Und sie sahen die Schar der Propheten in Verzückung und Samuel an ihrer Spitze. Da kam der Geist Gottes auf die Boten Sauls, dass auch sie in Verzückung gerieten. (4Mo 11,25; 1Sam 10,10) 21 Als das Saul angesagt wurde, sandte er andere Boten; die gerieten auch in Verzückung. Da sandte Saul zum dritten Mal Boten; die gerieten auch in Verzückung. 22 Da ging er selbst nach Rama. Und als er zum großen Brunnen kam, der in Sechu ist, fragte er: Wo sind Samuel und David? Da wurde ihm gesagt: Siehe, zu Najot in Rama. 23 Und er ging dorthin nach Najot in Rama. Und der Geist Gottes kam auch über ihn, und er ging einher in Verzückung, bis er nach Najot in Rama kam. 24 Da zog auch er seine Kleider aus und war in Verzückung vor Samuel und fiel hin und lag nackt den ganzen Tag und die ganze Nacht. Daher sagt man: Ist Saul auch unter den Propheten?

Saul tries to kill David

1 Saul told his son Jonathan and all the attendants to kill David. But Jonathan liked David very much. 2 So Jonathan warned him, ‘My father Saul is looking for a chance to kill you. Be very careful tomorrow morning. Find a place to hide and stay there. 3 My father and I will come and stand in the field where you are hiding. I’ll speak to him about you. Then I’ll tell you what I find out.’ 4 Jonathan told his father Saul some good things about David. He said to him, ‘Please don’t do anything to harm David. He hasn’t done anything to harm you. And what he’s done has helped you a lot. 5 He put his own life in danger when he killed Goliath. The LORD used him to win a great battle for the whole nation of Israel. When you saw it, you were glad. So why would you do anything to harm a man like David? He isn’t guilty of doing anything to harm you. Why would you want to kill him without any reason?’ 6 Saul paid attention to Jonathan. Saul made a promise. He said, ‘You can be sure that the LORD lives. And you can be just as sure that David will not be put to death.’ 7 So Jonathan sent for David and told him everything he and Saul had said. Then he brought David to Saul. David served Saul as he had done before. 8 Once more war broke out. So David went out and fought against the Philistines. He struck them down with so much force that they ran away from him. 9 But an evil spirit sent by the LORD came on Saul. It happened as he was sitting in his house and holding his spear. While David was playing the harp, 10 Saul tried to pin him to the wall with his spear. But David got away from him just as Saul drove the spear into the wall. That night David escaped. 11 Saul sent some men to watch David’s house. He told them to kill David the next morning. But David’s wife Michal warned him. She said, ‘You must run for your life tonight. If you don’t, tomorrow you will be killed.’ 12 So Michal helped David escape through a window. He ran and got away. 13 Then Michal got a statue of a god. She laid it on David’s bed. She covered it with clothes. And she put some goat hair at the place where David’s head would have been. 14 Saul sent the men to capture David. But Michal told them, ‘He’s ill.’ 15 Then Saul sent the men back to see David. He told them, ‘Bring him up here to me in his bed. Then I’ll kill him.’ 16 But when the men entered, the only thing they found in the bed was the statue. Some goat hair was at the place where David’s head would have been. 17 Saul said to Michal, ‘Why did you trick me like this? Why did you help my enemy escape?’ Michal told him, ‘He said to me, “Help me get away. If you don’t, I’ll kill you.” ’ 18 After David had run away and escaped, he went to Samuel at Ramah. He told him everything Saul had done to him. Then David and Samuel went to Naioth and stayed there. 19 Saul was told, ‘David is in Naioth at Ramah.’ 20 So Saul sent some men to capture him. When they got there, they saw a group of prophets who were prophesying. Samuel was standing there as their leader. Then the Spirit of God came on Saul’s men. So they also began to prophesy. 21 Saul was told about it. So he sent some more men. They began to prophesy too. Saul sent some men a third time. And they also began to prophesy. 22 Finally, Saul decided to go to Ramah himself. He went to the large well at Seku. He asked some people, ‘Where are Samuel and David?’ ‘Over in Naioth at Ramah,’ they said. 23 So Saul went to Naioth at Ramah. But the Spirit of God even came on him. He walked along and prophesied until he came to Naioth. 24 There he took off his clothes. Then he also prophesied in front of Samuel. He lay there without his clothes on all that day and night. That’s why people say, ‘Is Saul also one of the prophets?’
