Psalm 9

Lutherbibel 2017

Sela.

Psalm 9

New International Reader’s Version

von Biblica
1 LORD, I will give thanks to you with all my heart. I will tell about all the wonderful things you have done.2 I will be glad and full of joy because of you. Most High God, I will sing the praises of your name.3 My enemies turn back. They fall down and die right in front of you.4 You have proved that I haven’t done anything wrong. You have sat on your throne and judged fairly.5 You have punished the nations. You have destroyed evil people. You have erased their names from your book for ever and ever.6 My enemies have been destroyed for ever. You have levelled their cities to the ground. Even the memory of them is gone.7 The LORD rules for ever. He has set up his throne so that he can judge people.8 He rules the world in keeping with what is right. He judges all its people fairly.9 The LORD is a place of safety for those who have been treated badly. He keeps them safe in times of trouble.10 LORD, those who know you will trust in you. You have never deserted those who look to you.11 Sing the praises of the LORD. He rules from his throne in Zion. Tell among the nations what he has done.12 The God who pays back murderers remembers. He doesn’t forget the cries of those who are hurting.13 LORD, see how badly my enemies treat me! Help me! Don’t let me go down to the gates of death!14 Then I can give praise to you at the gates of the city of Zion. There I will be full of joy because you have saved me.15 The nations have fallen into the pit they have dug. Their feet are caught in the net they have hidden.16 The LORD is known to be fair by the things he does. Evil people are trapped by what they have done.17 Sinful people go down to the place of the dead. So do all the nations that forget God.18 But God will never forget needy people. The hope of those who are hurting will never die.19 LORD, rise up. Don’t let people win the battle. Let the nations come to you and be judged.20 LORD, strike them with terror. Let the nations know they are only human beings.

Psalm 9

English Standard Version

von Crossway
1 I will give thanks to the LORD with my whole heart; I will recount all of your wonderful deeds.[1] (Ps 26,7; Ps 40,5; Ps 96,3; Ps 105,5)2 I will be glad and exult in you; I will sing praise to your name, O Most High. (Ps 5,11; Ps 7,17; Ps 83,18)3 When my enemies turn back, they stumble and perish before[3] your presence.4 For you have maintained my just cause; you have sat on the throne, giving righteous judgment. (Ps 29,10; Ps 140,12)5 You have rebuked the nations; you have made the wicked perish; you have blotted out their name forever and ever. (5Mo 9,14; 5Mo 29,20; Ps 68,30; Spr 10,7)6 The enemy came to an end in everlasting ruins; their cities you rooted out; the very memory of them has perished.7 But the LORD sits enthroned forever; he has established his throne for justice,8 and he judges the world with righteousness; he judges the peoples with uprightness. (Ps 58,11; Ps 96,10; Ps 96,13; Ps 98,9)9 The LORD is a stronghold for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble. (2Sam 22,3; Ps 10,1; Ps 10,18; Ps 74,21; Spr 18,10)10 And those who know your name put their trust in you, for you, O LORD, have not forsaken those who seek you. (Ps 91,14)11 Sing praises to the LORD, who sits enthroned in Zion! Tell among the peoples his deeds! (Ps 76,2; Ps 77,12; Ps 107,22)12 For he who avenges blood is mindful of them; he does not forget the cry of the afflicted. (1Mo 9,5; Ps 9,18; Ps 10,12; Ps 10,13; Ps 12,5)13 Be gracious to me, O LORD! See my affliction from those who hate me, O you who lift me up from the gates of death, (Hi 38,17; Ps 4,1)14 that I may recount all your praises, that in the gates of the daughter of Zion I may rejoice in your salvation. (1Sam 2,1; 2Kön 19,21; Ps 13,5; Ps 20,5; Ps 21,1; Ps 35,9; Jes 37,22)15 The nations have sunk in the pit that they made; in the net that they hid, their own foot has been caught. (Hi 18,8; Ps 7,15)16 The LORD has made himself known; he has executed judgment; the wicked are snared in the work of their own hands. Higgaion.[4] Selah (2Mo 7,5; 2Mo 14,4)17 The wicked shall return to Sheol, all the nations that forget God. (1Mo 3,19; Hi 8,13; Ps 50,22; Jes 51,13)18 For the needy shall not always be forgotten, and the hope of the poor shall not perish forever. (Spr 23,18; Spr 24,14)19 Arise, O LORD! Let not man prevail; let the nations be judged before you! (Ps 3,7; Ps 10,18)20 Put them in fear, O LORD! Let the nations know that they are but men! Selah (Ps 19,1)
