(Ps 35,20)5»Wohlan!«, sprechen sie. »Lasst uns sie ausrotten, / dass sie kein Volk mehr seien und des Namens Israel nicht mehr gedacht werde!«6Ja, sie haben einmütig beraten und haben einen Bund wider dich gemacht:7die Zelte Edoms und die Ismaeliter, Moab und die Hagariter,8Gebal, Ammon und Amalek, die Philister mit denen von Tyrus;9auch Assur hat sich zu ihnen geschlagen, sie helfen den Söhnen Lot. Sela.10Mach’s mit ihnen wie mit Midian, wie mit Sisera, mit Jabin am Bach Kischon, (Ri 4,2; Ri 4,12; Ri 7,14; Jes 9,3)11die vertilgt wurden bei En-Dor und wurden zu Mist auf dem Acker.12Mache ihre Fürsten wie Oreb und Seeb, alle ihre Edlen wie Sebach und Zalmunna, (Ri 7,25; Ri 8,21)13die auch einmal sagten: Wir wollen Gottes Auen einnehmen.14Mein Gott, mache sie wie verwehende Blätter, wie Spreu vor dem Winde.15Wie ein Feuer den Wald verbrennt und wie eine Flamme die Berge versengt,16so verfolge sie mit deinem Sturm und erschrecke sie mit deinem Ungewitter.17Bedecke ihr Angesicht mit Schande, dass sie, HERR, nach deinem Namen fragen müssen.18Schämen sollen sie sich und erschrecken für immer und zuschanden werden und umkommen.19So werden sie erkennen, / dass du allein der Höchste bist über die ganze Erde, HERR ist dein Name. 1God, don’t remain silent. Don’t refuse to listen. Do something, God.2See how your enemies are growling like dogs. See how they are rising up against you.3They make clever plans against your people. They make evil plans against those you love.4‘Come’, they say. ‘Let’s destroy that whole nation. Then the name of Israel won’t be remembered anymore.’5All of them agree on the evil plans they have made. They join forces against you.6Their forces include the people of Edom, Ishmael, Moab and Hagar.7They also include the people of Byblos, Ammon, Amalek, Philistia and Tyre.8Even Assyria has joined them to give strength to the people of Moab and Ammon.9Do to them what you did to the people of Midian. Do to them what you did to Sisera and Jabin at the River Kishon.10Sisera and Jabin died near the town of Endor. Their bodies were left on the ground like human waste.11Do to the nobles of your enemies what you did to Oreb and Zeeb. Do to all their princes what you did to Zebah and Zalmunna.12They said, ‘Let’s take over the grasslands that belong to God.’13My God, make them like straw that the wind blows away. Make them like tumbleweed.14Destroy them as fire burns up a forest. Destroy them as a flame sets mountains on fire.15Chase them with your mighty winds. Terrify them with your storm.16LORD, put them to shame so that they will seek you.17May they always be filled with terror and shame. May they die in dishonour.18May you, the LORD, let your enemies know who you are. You alone are the Most High God over the whole earth.

Selah (5Mo 2,9; 5Mo 2,19; 2Kön 15,19)9Do to them as you did to Midian, as to Sisera and Jabin at the river Kishon, (4Mo 31,7; Ri 4,7; Ri 4,15; Ri 4,24; Ri 5,21; Jes 9,4)10who were destroyed at En-dor, who became dung for the ground. (Jos 17,11; 1Sam 28,7; Hi 20,7)11Make their nobles like Oreb and Zeeb, all their princes like Zebah and Zalmunna, (Ri 7,25; Ri 8,3; Ri 8,5)12who said, “Let us take possession for ourselves of the pastures of God.” (2Chr 20,11)13O my God, make them like whirling dust,[1] like chaff before the wind. (Hi 13,25; Hi 21,18; Ps 1,4; Jes 17,13)14As fire consumes the forest, as the flame sets the mountains ablaze, (5Mo 32,22; Jes 9,18)15so may you pursue them with your tempest and terrify them with your hurricane! (Hi 9,17)16Fill their faces with shame, that they may seek your name, O LORD. (Hi 10,15; Ps 35,4; Ps 35,26)17Let them be put to shame and dismayed forever; let them perish in disgrace, (Ps 35,4)18that they may know that you alone, whose name is the LORD, are the Most High over all the earth.
