1Ein Wallfahrtslied.
A song for those who go up to Jerusalem to worship the Lord.
1LORD, remember David and all the times he didn’t do what he wanted.2LORD, he made a promise. Mighty One of Jacob, he made a promise to you.3He said, ‘I won’t enter my house or go to bed.4I won’t let my eyes sleep. I won’t close my eyelids5until I find a place for the LORD. I want to build a house for the Mighty One of Jacob.’6Here are the words we heard in Ephrathah. We heard them again in the fields of Kiriath Jearim.7‘Let us go to the LORD’s house. Let us worship at his feet. Let us say,8“LORD, rise up and come to your resting place. Come in together with the ark. It’s the sign of your power.9May your priests put on godliness as if it were their clothes. May your faithful people sing for joy.” ’10In honour of your servant David, don’t turn your back on your anointed king.11The LORD made a promise to David. It is a firm promise that he will never break. He said, ‘After you die, I will place one of your own sons on your throne.12If your sons keep my covenant and the laws I teach them, then their sons shall sit on your throne for ever and ever.’13The LORD has chosen Zion. That’s the place where he wants to live.14He has said, ‘This will be my resting place for ever and ever. Here I will sit on my throne, because that’s what I want.15I will greatly bless Zion with everything it needs. I will give plenty of food to the poor people living there.16I will put salvation on its priests as if it were their clothes. God’s faithful people will always sing for joy.17‘Here in Jerusalem I will raise up a mighty king from the family of David. I will set up the lamp of David’s kingdom for my anointed king. Its flame will burn brightly for ever.18I will put shame on his enemies as if it were their clothes. But he will wear on his head a shining crown.’
1Remember, O LORD, in David’s favor, all the hardships he endured, (1Chr 22,14)2how he swore to the LORD and vowed to the Mighty One of Jacob, (1Mo 49,24; Ps 50,14; Ps 132,5; Jes 49,26; Jes 60,16)3“I will not enter my house or get into my bed,4I will not give sleep to my eyes or slumber to my eyelids, (Spr 6,4)5until I find a place for the LORD, a dwelling place for the Mighty One of Jacob.” (1Chr 22,7; Ps 2,1; Apg 7,46)6Behold, we heard of it in Ephrathah; we found it in the fields of Jaar. (1Mo 35,19; 1Sam 7,1; 1Sam 17,12)7“Let us go to his dwelling place; let us worship at his footstool!” (Ps 5,7; Ps 99,5)8Arise, O LORD, and go to your resting place, you and the ark of your might. (2Chr 6,41; 2Chr 6,42; Ps 68,1; Ps 78,61; Ps 132,14)9Let your priests be clothed with righteousness, and let your saints shout for joy. (Hi 29,14; Ps 132,16; Ps 149,5)10For the sake of your servant David, do not turn away the face of your anointed one. (1Kön 1,39; 2Kön 18,24; Ps 132,17)11The LORD swore to David a sure oath from which he will not turn back: “One of the sons of your body[1] I will set on your throne. (2Sam 7,12; 2Chr 6,16; Ps 89,3; Ps 89,34; Ps 110,4; Lk 1,32; Apg 2,30)12If your sons keep my covenant and my testimonies that I shall teach them, their sons also forever shall sit on your throne.” (1Kön 8,25; Hi 36,7)13For the LORD has chosen Zion; he has desired it for his dwelling place: (Ps 68,16; Ps 78,68; Ps 135,21)14“This is my resting place forever; here I will dwell, for I have desired it. (Ps 132,8; Mt 23,21)15I will abundantly bless her provisions; I will satisfy her poor with bread. (Rut 1,6; Ps 147,14)16Her priests I will clothe with salvation, and her saints will shout for joy. (Ps 132,9)17There I will make a horn to sprout for David; I have prepared a lamp for my anointed. (1Kön 11,36; 1Kön 15,4; 2Kön 8,19; 2Chr 21,7; Ps 132,10; Hes 29,21; Lk 1,69)18His enemies I will clothe with shame, but on him his crown will shine.” (Hi 8,22)
