Esras Beauftragung durch Artaxerxes

1 Nach diesen Geschichten unter der Regierung des Artaxerxes, des Königs von Persien, zog Esra herauf, der Sohn Serajas, des Sohnes Asarjas, des Sohnes Hilkijas, (1Chr 5,39) 2 des Sohnes Schallums, des Sohnes Zadoks, des Sohnes Ahitubs, 3 des Sohnes Amarjas, des Sohnes Asarjas, des Sohnes Merajots, 4 des Sohnes Serachjas, des Sohnes Usis, des Sohnes Bukkis, 5 des Sohnes Abischuas, des Sohnes des Pinhas, des Sohnes Eleasars, des Sohnes Aarons, des Hohenpriesters. 6 Dieser Esra zog von Babel herauf. Er war ein Schriftgelehrter, kundig im Gesetz des Mose, das der HERR, der Gott Israels, gegeben hatte. Und der König gab ihm alles, was er erbat, weil die Hand des HERRN, seines Gottes, über ihm war. (Esr 8,18; Esr 8,22; Neh 2,8) 7 Und es zogen herauf etliche der Israeliten und der Priester und der Leviten, der Sänger, Torhüter und Tempeldiener nach Jerusalem im siebenten Jahr des Königs Artaxerxes. 8 Und er kam nach Jerusalem im fünften Monat, im siebenten Jahr des Königs. 9 Am ersten Tage des ersten Monats nämlich hatte er beschlossen, von Babel heraufzuziehen, und am ersten Tage des fünften Monats kam er nach Jerusalem, da die gute Hand seines Gottes über ihm war. 10 Denn Esra richtete sein Herz darauf, das Gesetz des HERRN zu erforschen und danach zu tun und Gebote und Rechte in Israel zu lehren.

Erlass des Königs Artaxerxes über Esras Vollmacht

11 Und dies ist die Abschrift des Schreibens, das der König Artaxerxes Esra gab, dem Priester und Schriftgelehrten, der kundig war in den Worten der Gebote des HERRN und seiner Satzungen für Israel: 12 Artaxerxes, der König der Könige, an Esra, den Priester und Schriftgelehrten im Gesetz des Gottes des Himmels, meinen Gruß! Und nun: 13 Von mir ist befohlen worden, dass jeder, der von dem Volk Israel und den Priestern und Leviten in meinem Reich willig ist, nach Jerusalem zu ziehen, mit dir ziehen darf, 14 weil du vom König und seinen sieben Räten gesandt bist, um aufgrund des Gesetzes deines Gottes, das in deiner Hand ist, nachzuforschen, wie es in Juda und Jerusalem steht, 15 und hinzubringen Silber und Gold, das der König und seine Räte freiwillig gegeben haben dem Gott Israels, dessen Wohnung zu Jerusalem ist, 16 und was du sonst an Silber und Gold erhältst in der ganzen Landschaft Babel samt dem, was das Volk und die Priester freiwillig geben für das Haus ihres Gottes zu Jerusalem. 17 So kaufe nun mit Sorgfalt von diesem Geld Stiere, Widder, Lämmer und Speisopfer und Trankopfer dazu und opfere sie auf dem Altar des Hauses eures Gottes zu Jerusalem. 18 Und was dir und deinen Brüdern mit dem übrigen Silber und Gold zu tun gefällt, das tut nach dem Willen eures Gottes. 19 Und die Geräte, die dir gegeben werden zum Dienst im Hause deines Gottes, übergib alle vor dem Gott Jerusalems. 20 Und was sonst noch gebraucht wird für das Haus deines Gottes, was du ausgeben musst, das bekommst du aus den Schatzhäusern des Königs. 21 Und von mir, König Artaxerxes, ist allen Schatzmeistern jenseits des Euphrat befohlen worden: Alles, was Esra, der Priester und Schriftgelehrte im Gesetz des Gottes des Himmels, von euch fordert, das ist sorgfältig zu befolgen, 22 bis zu hundert Zentner Silber und hundert Sack Weizen und hundert Eimer Wein und hundert Eimer Öl und Salz in jeder Menge. 23 Alles, was der Befehl des Gottes des Himmels erfordert, das soll für das Haus des Gottes des Himmels sorgfältig getan werden, damit kein Zorn komme über das Reich des Königs und seiner Söhne. 24 Und euch sei kundgetan, dass nicht erlaubt ist, Steuern, Abgaben und Zoll zu legen auf irgendeinen Priester, Leviten, Sänger, Torhüter, Tempeldiener oder alle andern, die im Hause dieses Gottes Dienst tun. 25 Du aber, Esra, setze nach der Weisheit deines Gottes, die in deiner Hand ist, Richter und Rechtspfleger ein, die allem Volk jenseits des Euphrat Recht sprechen, nämlich allen, die das Gesetz deines Gottes kennen; und wer es nicht kennt, den sollt ihr es lehren. 26 Aber jeder, der nicht sorgfältig das Gesetz deines Gottes und das Gesetz des Königs hält, über den soll Gericht gehalten werden, sei es zum Tod oder zur Züchtigung oder zur Geldbuße oder zum Gefängnis. 27 Gelobt sei der HERR, der Gott unserer Väter, der solches dem König eingegeben hat, dass er das Haus des HERRN in Jerusalem so herrlich mache, 28 und der mir die Gunst des Königs und seiner Räte und aller mächtigen Oberen des Königs zugewandt hat! Und ich ward getrost, weil die Hand des HERRN, meines Gottes, über mir war, und sammelte aus Israel Sippenhäupter, dass sie mit mir hinaufzögen. (Esr 6,1)

1 وَبَعْدَ هَذِهِ الأُمُورِ فِي أَثْنَاءِ حُكْمِ أَرْتَحْشَشْتَا مَلِكِ فَارِسَ، رَجَعَ مِنْ بَابِلَ رَجُلٌ اسْمُهُ عِزْرَا بْنُ سَرَايَا بْنِ عَزَرْيَا بْنِ حِلْقِيَّا 2 بْنِ شَلُّومَ بْنِ صَادُوقَ بْنِ أَخِيطُوبَ، 3 بْنِ أَمَرْيَا بْنِ عَزَرْيَا بْنِ مَرَايُوثَ، 4 بْنِ زَرَحْيَا بْنِ عُزِّي بْنِ بُقِّي، 5 بْنِ أَبِيشُوعَ بْنِ فِينْحَاسَ بْنِ أَلْعَازَارَ بْنِ هرُونَ رَئِيسِ الْكَهَنَةِ، 6 وَكَانَ عِزْرَا كَاتِباً مَاهِراً فِي شَرِيعَةِ مُوسَى الَّتِي أَعْلَنَهَا الرَّبُّ إِلَهُ إِسْرَائِيلَ؛ وَقَدْ مَنَحَهُ الْمَلِكُ كُلَّ سُؤْلِهِ بِفَضْلِ الرَّبِّ إِلَهِهِ. 7 وَرَجَعَ مَعَهُ بَعْضُ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ، وَبَعْضُ الْكَهَنَةِ وَاللّاوِيِّينَ وَالْمُغَنِّينَ وَحُرَّاسِ الْهَيْكَلِ وَخُدَّامِهِ إِلَى أُورُشَلِيمَ، فِي السَّنَةِ السَّابِعَةِ مِنْ وِلايَةِ الْمَلِكِ أَرْتَحْشَشْتَا، 8 فَوَصَلَ إِلَى أُورُشَلِيمَ فِي الشَّهْرِ الْخَامِسِ (آب – أُغُسْطُسَ) مِنَ السَّنَةِ السَّابِعَةِ لِحُكْمِ الْمَلِكِ. 9 إِذْ بَدَأَ رِحْلَتَهُ مِنْ بَابِلَ فِي الشَّهْرِ الأَوَّلِ (آذَارَ – مَارِسَ)، وَوَصَلَ إِلَى أُورُشَلِيمَ فِي الشَّهْرِ الْخَامِسِ، بِفَضْلِ يَدِ اللهِ الصَّالِحَةِ الَّتِي رَعَتْهُ، 10 لأَنَّ عِزْرَا أَخْلَصَ نِيَّتَهُ لِطَلَبِ شَرِيعَةِ الرَّبِّ وَمُمَارَسَتِهَا، وَتَعْلِيمِ الشَّعْبِ فَرَائِضَهَا وَأَحْكَامَهَا.

11 وَهَذَا نَصُّ الرِّسَالَةِ الَّتِي سَلَّمَهَا الْمَلِكُ أَرْتَحْشَشْتَا لِعِزْرَا الْكَاهِنِ الْكَاتِبِ، الْعَالِمِ بِكَلامِ وَصَايَا الرَّبِّ وَفَرَائِضِهِ الَّتِي أَبْلَغَهَا لإِسْرَائِيلَ: 12 «مِنْ أَرْتَحْشَشْتَا مَلِكِ الْمُلُوكِ إِلَى عِزْرَا الْكَاهِنِ كَاتِبِ شَرِيعَةِ إِلَهِ السَّمَاءِ، سَلامٌ، وَبَعْدُ. 13 لَقَدْ صَدَرَ مِنِّي أَمْرٌ بِالسَّمَاحِ لِكُلِّ مَنْ أَرَادَ فِي مَمْلَكَتِي مِنْ شَعْبِ إِسْرَائِيلَ وَكَهَنَتِهِ وَاللّاوِيِّينَ أَنْ يَرْجِعَ مَعَكَ إِلَى أُورُشَلِيمَ، 14 فَأَنْتَ مُرْسَلٌ مِنْ قِبَلِ الْمَلِكِ وَمُسْتَشَارِيهِ السَّبْعَةِ لِلاطِّلاعِ عَلَى مَدَى تَطْبِيقِ أَبْنَاءِ يَهُوذَا وَأُورُشَلِيمَ لِشَرِيعَةِ إِلَهِكَ الَّتِي بَيْنَ يَدَيْكَ، 15 وَلِحَمْلِ مَا يَتَبَرَّعُ بِهِ الْمَلِكُ وَمُسْتَشَارُوهُ مِنْ فِضَّةٍ وَذَهَبٍ لإِلَهِ إِسْرَائِيلَ الَّذِي مَسْكَنُهُ فِي أُورُشَلِيمَ. 16 فَضْلاً عَمَّا تَحْصُلُ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ فِضَّةٍ وَذَهَبٍ مِنْ إِقْلِيمِ بَابِلَ، وَمَا تَجْمَعُهُ مِنْ تَبَرُّعَاتِ الشَّعْبِ وَالْكَهَنَةِ لِهَيْكَلِ إِلَهِهِمْ فِي أُورُشَلِيمَ، 17 لِتَجِدَّ فِي شِرَاءِ ثِيرَانٍ وَكِبَاشٍ وَخِرَافٍ مَعَ تَقْدِمَاتِهَا وَسَكَائِبِ خَمْرِهَا بِهَذِهِ الْفِضَّةِ، لِتُقَرِّبَهَا عَلَى مَذْبَحِ هَيْكَلِ إِلَهِكُمْ فِي أُورُشَلِيمَ. 18 أَمَّا مَا يَتَبَقَّى مِنَ الْفِضَّةِ وَالذَّهَبِ، فَتَتَصَرَّفُ فِيهِ أَنْتَ وَسَائِرُ الْكَهَنَةِ حَسَبَ مَا تَرَاهُ بِمُقْتَضَى إِرَادَةِ إِلَهِكُمْ. 19 كَذَلِكَ سَلِّمْ أَمَامَ إِلَهِ أُورُشَلِيمَ مَا أُعْطِيتَ مِنْ آنِيَةٍ لِتُسْتَخْدَمَ فِي هَيْكَلِ إِلَهِكَ، 20 ثُمَّ خُذْ مِنْ بَيْتِ مَالِ الْمَلِكِ مَا تَرَى الْهَيْكَلَ فِي حَاجَةٍ إِلَيْهِ. 21 وَقَدْ أَصْدَرْتُ أَمْراً، أَنَا أَرْتَحْشَشْتَا الْمَلِكُ، إِلَى جَمِيعِ أُمَنَاءِ أَمْوَالِ الْمَلِكِ فِي عَبْرِ نَهْرِ الْفُرَاتِ أَنْ يُلَبُّوا عَلَى وَجْهِ السُّرْعَةِ كُلَّ مَطَالِبِ عِزْرَا الْكَاهِنِ كَاتِبِ شَرِيعَةِ إِلَهِ السَّمَاءِ، 22 إِلَى مِئَةِ وَزْنَةٍ (نَحْوَ ثَلاثَةِ آلافٍ وَسِتِّ مِئَةِ كِيلُو جِرَامٍ) مِنَ الْفِضَّةِ وَمِئَةِ كُرٍّ مِنَ الْقَمْحِ (نَحْوَ أَرْبَعَةٍ وَعِشْرِينَ أَلْفَ لِتْرٍ) وَمِئَةِ بَثٍّ مِنَ النَّبِيذِ (نَحْوَ أَلْفَيْنِ وَأَرْبَعِ مِئَةِ لِتْرٍ) وَمِئَةِ بَثٍّ مِنَ الزَّيْتِ، وَمِنَ الْمِلْحِ مَا يَحْتَاجُ إِلَيْهِ مِنْ غَيْرِ حَدٍّ. 23 وَلْيُنَفَّذْ بِأَسْرَعِ وَقْتٍ كُلُّ مَا يَأْمُرُ بِهِ إِلَهُ السَّمَاءِ بِشَأْنِ هَيْكَلِهِ، لأَنَّهُ لِمَاذَا يَحُلُّ غَضَبُهُ عَلَى دِيَارِ الْمَلِكِ وَأَبْنَائِهِ؟ 24 نُفِيدُكُمْ أَنَّ جَمِيعَ الْكَهَنَةِ وَاللّاوِيِّينَ وَالْمُغَنِّينَ وَحُرَّاسِ الْهَيْكَلِ وَخُدَّامِهِ وَالْعَامِلِينَ فِيهِ، مُعْفَوْنَ مِنْ أَيَّةِ جِزْيَةٍ أَوْ خَرَاجٍ أَو خَفَارَةٍ. 25 أَمَّا أَنْتَ يَا عِزْرَا فَبِمُقْتَضَى مَا تَتَمَتَّعُ بِهِ مِنْ حِكْمَةِ إِلَهِكَ، عَيِّنْ حُكَّاماً وَقُضَاةً مِنَ الْعَارِفِينَ بِشَرَائِعِ إِلَهِكَ، يَقْضُونَ بَيْنَ الشَّعْبِ الْمُقِيمِ فِي عَبْرِ نَهْرِ الْفُرَاتِ، وَلْيُعَلِّمُوا الْجَاهِلِينَ بِها. 26 وَلْيُحْكَمْ عَلَى كُلِّ مَنْ لَا يُطَبِّقُ شَرِيعَةَ إِلَهِكَ وَشَرِيعَةَ الْمَلِكِ بِالْمَوْتِ أَوِ النَّفْيِ أَوْ بِغَرَامَةٍ مَالِيَّةٍ أَوْ بَالسَّجْنِ». 27 فَقَالَ عِزْرَا: «مُبَارَكٌ الرَّبُّ إِلَهُ آبَائِنَا الَّذِي وَضَعَ مِثْلَ هَذَا فِي قَلْبِ الْمَلِكِ لِتَكْرِيمِ هَيْكَلِ الرَّبِّ فِي أُورُشَلِيمَ، 28 وَقَدْ ظَلَّلَنِي بِالرَّحْمَةِ أَمَامَ الْمَلِكِ وَمُسْتَشَارِيهِ، وَأَمَامَ جَمِيعِ قَادَتِهِ الْمُقْتَدِرِينَ؛ وَبِفَضْلِ يَدِ الرَّبِّ الَّتِي رَعَتْنِي تَشَدَّدْتُ وَجَمَعْتُ بَعْضَ رُؤَسَاءِ إِسْرَائِيلَ لِيَرْجِعُوا مَعِي».

Ezra comes to Jerusalem

1 After these things, during the reign of Artaxerxes king of Persia, Ezra son of Seraiah, the son of Azariah, the son of Hilkiah, 2 the son of Shallum, the son of Zadok, the son of Ahitub, 3 the son of Amariah, the son of Azariah, the son of Meraioth, 4 the son of Zerahiah, the son of Uzzi, the son of Bukki, 5 the son of Abishua, the son of Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the chief priest – 6 this Ezra came up from Babylon. He was a teacher well versed in the Law of Moses, which the Lord, the God of Israel, had given. The king had granted him everything he asked, for the hand of the Lord his God was on him. 7 Some of the Israelites, including priests, Levites, musicians, gatekeepers and temple servants, also came up to Jerusalem in the seventh year of King Artaxerxes. 8 Ezra arrived in Jerusalem in the fifth month of the seventh year of the king. 9 He had begun his journey from Babylon on the first day of the first month, and he arrived in Jerusalem on the first day of the fifth month, for the gracious hand of his God was on him. 10 For Ezra had devoted himself to the study and observance of the Law of the Lord, and to teaching its decrees and laws in Israel.

King Artaxerxes’ letter to Ezra

11 This is a copy of the letter King Artaxerxes had given to Ezra the priest, a teacher of the Law, a man learned in matters concerning the commands and decrees of the Lord for Israel: 12 Artaxerxes, king of kings, To Ezra the priest, teacher of the Law of the God of heaven: Greetings. 13 Now I decree that any of the Israelites in my kingdom, including priests and Levites, who volunteer to go to Jerusalem with you, may go. 14 You are sent by the king and his seven advisors to enquire about Judah and Jerusalem with regard to the Law of your God, which is in your hand. 15 Moreover, you are to take with you the silver and gold that the king and his advisors have freely given to the God of Israel, whose dwelling is in Jerusalem, 16 together with all the silver and gold you may obtain from the province of Babylon, as well as the freewill offerings of the people and priests for the temple of their God in Jerusalem. 17 With this money be sure to buy bulls, rams and male lambs, together with their grain offerings and drink offerings, and sacrifice them on the altar of the temple of your God in Jerusalem. 18 You and your fellow Israelites may then do whatever seems best with the rest of the silver and gold, in accordance with the will of your God. 19 Deliver to the God of Jerusalem all the articles entrusted to you for worship in the temple of your God. 20 And anything else needed for the temple of your God that you are responsible to supply, you may provide from the royal treasury. 21 Now I, King Artaxerxes, decree that all the treasurers of Trans-Euphrates are to provide with diligence whatever Ezra the priest, the teacher of the Law of the God of heaven, may ask of you – 22 up to a hundred talents^[1] of silver, a hundred cors^[2] of wheat, a hundred baths^[3] of wine, a hundred baths^[4] of olive oil, and salt without limit. 23 Whatever the God of heaven has prescribed, let it be done with diligence for the temple of the God of heaven. Why should his wrath fall on the realm of the king and of his sons? 24 You are also to know that you have no authority to impose taxes, tribute or duty on any of the priests, Levites, musicians, gatekeepers, temple servants or other workers at this house of God. 25 And you, Ezra, in accordance with the wisdom of your God, which you possess, appoint magistrates and judges to administer justice to all the people of Trans-Euphrates – all who know the laws of your God. And you are to teach any who do not know them. 26 Whoever does not obey the law of your God and the law of the king must surely be punished by death, banishment, confiscation of property, or imprisonment.^[5] 27 Praise be to the Lord, the God of our ancestors, who has put it into the king’s heart to bring honour to the house of the Lord in Jerusalem in this way 28 and who has extended his good favour to me before the king and his advisors and all the king’s powerful officials. Because the hand of the Lord my God was on me, I took courage and gathered leaders from Israel to go up with me.

Письмо царя Артаксеркса Узайру

А всех, кто не знает их, ты учи. 26 Всякий, кто не будет слушаться Закона твоего Бога и закона царя, непременно должен быть наказан смертью, или изгнанием, или конфискацией имущества, или заключением в темницу. 27 Хвала Вечному, Богу наших предков, Который вложил в сердце царя желание воздать этим честь дому Вечного в Иерусалиме 28 и простёр ко мне Свою милость перед царём, и его советниками, и всеми могущественными царскими приближёнными! Так как рука Вечного, моего Бога, была на мне, я отважился и собрал вождей из Исраила, чтобы им идти со мной.
