Das Murren des Volkes

1 Und das Volk wehklagte vor den Ohren des HERRN, dass es ihm schlecht gehe. Und als es der HERR hörte, entbrannte sein Zorn, und das Feuer des HERRN loderte auf unter ihnen und fraß am Rande des Lagers. (3Mo 10,2) 2 Da schrie das Volk zu Mose, und Mose bat den HERRN; da verschwand das Feuer. 3 Und man nannte die Stätte Tabera, weil hier das Feuer des HERRN unter ihnen aufgelodert war. 4 Das fremde Volk aber unter ihnen war lüstern geworden. Da fingen auch die Israeliten wieder an zu weinen und sprachen: Wer wird uns Fleisch zu essen geben? (2Mo 12,38; 2Mo 16,3; 1Kor 10,6) 5 Wir denken an die Fische, die wir in Ägypten umsonst aßen, und an die Kürbisse, die Melonen, den Lauch, die Zwiebeln und den Knoblauch. 6 Nun aber ist unsere Seele matt, denn unsere Augen sehen nichts als das Manna. 7 Es war aber das Manna wie Koriandersamen und anzusehen wie Bedolachharz. (2Mo 16,14) 8 Und das Volk lief hin und her und sammelte und zerrieb es mit Mühlen oder zerstieß es in Mörsern und kochte es in Töpfen und machte sich Kuchen daraus; und es hatte einen Geschmack wie Ölkuchen. 9 Und wenn bei Nacht der Tau über das Lager fiel, so fiel das Manna mit darauf. 10 Als nun Mose das Volk weinen hörte, alle Geschlechter miteinander, einen jeden in der Tür seines Zeltes, da entbrannte der Zorn des HERRN sehr. Und auch Mose verdross es. 11 Und Mose sprach zu dem HERRN: Warum bekümmerst du deinen Knecht? Und warum finde ich keine Gnade vor deinen Augen, dass du die Last dieses ganzen Volks auf mich legst? 12 Hab ich denn all das Volk empfangen oder geboren, dass du zu mir sagen könntest: Trag es in deinen Armen, wie eine Amme ein Kind trägt, in das Land, das du ihren Vätern zugeschworen hast? 13 Woher soll ich Fleisch nehmen, um es all diesem Volk zu geben? Sie weinen vor mir und sprechen: Gib uns Fleisch zu essen. 14 Ich vermag all das Volk nicht allein zu tragen, denn es ist mir zu schwer. 15 Willst du aber doch so mit mir tun, so töte mich lieber, wenn anders ich Gnade vor deinen Augen gefunden habe, damit ich nicht mein Unglück sehen muss. (2Mo 32,32) 16 Und der HERR sprach zu Mose: Sammle mir siebzig Männer unter den Ältesten Israels, von denen du weißt, dass sie Älteste im Volk und seine Amtleute sind, und bringe sie vor die Stiftshütte und stelle sie dort vor dich, (2Mo 18,21; 2Mo 24,1; 2Mo 24,9) 17 so will ich herniederkommen und dort mit dir reden und von deinem Geist, der auf dir ist, nehmen und auf sie legen, damit sie mit dir die Last des Volks tragen und du nicht allein tragen musst. 18 Und zum Volk sollst du sagen: Heiligt euch für morgen, so sollt ihr Fleisch zu essen haben; denn euer Weinen ist vor die Ohren des HERRN gekommen, die ihr sprecht: »Wer gibt uns Fleisch zu essen? Denn es ging uns gut in Ägypten.« Darum wird euch der HERR Fleisch zu essen geben, (2Mo 19,10) 19 nicht nur einen Tag, nicht zwei, nicht fünf, nicht zehn, nicht zwanzig Tage lang, 20 sondern einen Monat lang, bis ihr’s nicht mehr riechen könnt und es euch zum Ekel wird, weil ihr den HERRN verworfen habt, der unter euch ist, und weil ihr vor ihm geweint und gesagt habt: Warum sind wir aus Ägypten gegangen? 21 Und Mose sprach: Sechshunderttausend Mann Fußvolk sind es, mit denen ich lebe, und du sprichst: Ich will ihnen Fleisch geben, dass sie einen Monat lang zu essen haben. 22 Kann man so viele Schafe und Rinder schlachten, dass es für sie genug sei? Oder kann man alle Fische des Meeres einfangen, dass es für sie genug sei? 23 Der HERR aber sprach zu Mose: Ist denn die Hand des HERRN zu kurz? Aber du sollst jetzt sehen, ob sich mein Wort an dir erfüllt oder nicht. (Jes 50,2; Jes 59,1) 24 Und Mose ging heraus und sagte dem Volk die Worte des HERRN und versammelte siebzig Männer aus den Ältesten des Volks und stellte sie rings um die Stiftshütte. 25 Da kam der HERR hernieder in der Wolke und redete mit ihm und nahm von dem Geist, der auf ihm war, und legte ihn auf die siebzig Ältesten. Und als der Geist auf ihnen ruhte, gerieten sie in Verzückung wie Propheten und hörten nicht auf. 26 Es waren aber noch zwei Männer im Lager geblieben; der eine hieß Eldad, der andere Medad. Und der Geist kam über sie, denn sie waren auch aufgeschrieben, jedoch nicht hinausgegangen zu der Stiftshütte, und sie gerieten in Verzückung im Lager. 27 Da lief ein junger Mann hin und sagte es Mose und sprach: Eldad und Medad sind in Verzückung im Lager. 28 Da antwortete Josua, der Sohn Nuns, der dem Mose diente von seiner Jugend an, und sprach: Mose, mein Herr, wehre ihnen! (2Mo 24,13; 4Mo 13,16) 29 Aber Mose sprach zu ihm: Eiferst du um meinetwillen? Wollte Gott, dass alle im Volk des HERRN Propheten wären und der HERR seinen Geist über sie kommen ließe! (Joe 3,1; Mk 9,38) 30 Darauf kehrte Mose zum Lager zurück mit den Ältesten Israels. 31 Da erhob sich ein Wind, vom HERRN gesandt, und ließ Wachteln kommen vom Meer und ließ sie auf das Lager fallen, eine Tagereise weit rings um das Lager, zwei Ellen hoch auf der Erde. (2Mo 16,13) 32 Da machte sich das Volk auf und sammelte Wachteln diesen ganzen Tag und die ganze Nacht und den andern ganzen Tag; und wer am wenigsten sammelte, der sammelte hundert Scheffel. Und sie breiteten sie rings um das Lager aus. 33 Als aber das Fleisch noch zwischen ihren Zähnen war und ehe es ganz aufgebraucht war, da entbrannte der Zorn des HERRN gegen das Volk, und er schlug sie mit einer sehr großen Plage. 34 Daher heißt die Stätte »Lustgräber«, weil man dort das lüsterne Volk begrub. 35 Von den »Lustgräbern« aber zog das Volk weiter nach Hazerot, und sie blieben in Hazerot.

1 وَرَاحَ الشَّعْبُ يَتَذَمَّرُ فِي مَسْمَعِ الرَّبِّ وَكَأَنَّ شَرّاً أَصَابَهُمْ، فَاحْتَدَمَ غَضَبُ الرَّبِّ عَلَيْهِمْ، وَانْدَلَعَتْ فِيهِمْ نَارُهُ وَأَحْرَقَتْ طَرَفَ الْمُخَيَّمِ، 2 فَصَرَخُوا إِلَى مُوسَى، فَصَلَّى مُوسَى إِلَى الرَّبِّ فَخَمِدَتِ النَّارُ، 3 فَدُعِيَ ذَلِكَ الْمَكَانُ «تَبْعِيرَةَ» (وَمَعْنَاهُ: اشْتِعَالٌ) لأَنَّ نَارَ الرَّبِّ اشْتَعَلَتْ فِيهِمْ.

السلوى من عند الرب

4 وَاشْتَهَى أَخْلاطُ الأُمَمِ الْمُقِيمُونَ بَيْنَ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ، مِمَّنْ خَرَجُوا مَعَهُمْ مِنْ مِصْرَ، طَعَامَ مِصْرَ، فَعَادَ بَنُو إِسْرَائِيلَ يَبْكُونَ قَائِلِينَ: «مَنْ يُطْعِمُنَا لَحْماً؟ 5 لَقَدْ تَذَكَّرْنَا سَمَكَ مِصْرَ الَّذِي كُنَّا نَأْكُلُهُ مَجَّاناً، وَالقِثَّاءَ وَالْبَطِّيخَ وَالْكُرَّاتَ وَالْبَصَلَ وَالثُّومَ، 6 أَمَّا الآنَ فَقَدْ فَقَدْنَا شَهِيَّتَنَا وَهُزِلْنَا، وَلَيْسَ أَمَامَ أَعْيُنِنَا سِوَى هَذَا الْمَنِّ». 7 وَكَانَ الْمَنُّ فِي حَجْمِ بُذُورِ الْكُزْبَرَةِ، وَشَكْلُهُ مُمَاثِلاً لِلْمُقْلِ. 8 وَكَانَ الشَّعْبُ يَطُوفُونَ لِيَجْمَعُوهُ ثُمَّ يَطْحَنُونَهُ بِالرَّحَى أَوْ يَدُقُّونَهُ فِي الْهَاوَنِ وَيَطْبُخُونَهُ فِي الْقُدُورِ أَوْ يَخْبِزُونَهُ عَلَى حِجَارَةٍ مُحَمَّاةٍ. وَكَانَ طَعْمُهُ كَطَعْمِ قَطَائِفَ بِزَيْتٍ. 9 وَكَانَ الْمَنُّ يَنْزِلُ بِنُزُولِ النَّدَى عَلَى الْمُخَيَّمِ فِي أَثْنَاءِ اللَّيْلِ. 10 فَلَمَّا سَمِعَ مُوسَى بُكَاءَ جَمِيعِ أَفْرَادِ الشَّعْبِ، كُلٍّ أَمَامَ بَابِ خَيْمَتِهِ، وَرَأَى احْتِدَامَ غَضَبِ الرَّبِّ الشَّدِيدِ اعْتَرَاهُ الاسْتِيَاءُ. 11 فَقَالَ مُوسَى لِلرَّبِّ: «لَمَاذَا أَسَأْتَ إِلَى عَبْدِكَ وَلَمْ تَرْضَ عَنْهُ حَتَّى إِنَّكَ حَمَّلْتَهُ مَسْؤولِيَّةَ هَذَا الشَّعْبِ؟ 12 أَلَعَلِّي حَبِلْتُ بِهِ أَوْ وَلَدْتُهُ، حَتَّى تَقُولَ لِي احْمِلْهُ فِي حِضْنِكَ كَمَا يَحْمِلُ الْمُرَبِّي الرَّضِيعَ، وَقُدْهُ إِلَى الأَرْضِ الَّتِي وَعَدْتَ بِها آبَاءَهُ. 13 مِنْ أَيْنَ أَجِيءُ بِلَحْمٍ يَكْفِي جَمِيعَ هَذَا الشَّعْبِ؟ فَإِنَّهُمْ يَبْكُونَ إِلَيَّ قَائِلِينَ: أَعْطِنَا لَحْماً لِنَأْكُلَ. 14 إِنَّنِي عَاجِزٌ عَنْ حَمْلِ عِبْءِ هَذَا الشَّعْبِ وَحْدِي لأَنَّهُ ثَقِيلٌ عَلَيَّ. 15 إِنْ كُنْتَ سَتُعَامِلُنِي هَكَذَا، فَاقْتُلْنِي، إِنْ حَظِيتُ بِرِضَاكَ، فَلا أَشْهَدُ بَلِيَّتِي». 16 فَقَالَ الرَّبُّ لِمُوسَى: «اجْمَعْ إِلَيَّ سَبْعِينَ رَجُلاً مِنَ رُؤَسَاءِ إِسْرَائِيلَ مِمَّنْ تَعْلَمُ أَنَّهُمْ حَقّاً شُيُوخُ الشَّعْبِ وَعُرَفَاؤُهُ، وَأَقْبِلْ بِهِمْ إِلَى خَيْمَةِ الاجْتِمَاعِ لِيَمْثُلُوا مَعَكَ هُنَاكَ. 17 فَأَنْزِلَ وَأُخَاطِبَكَ هُنَاكَ، وَآخُذَ مِنَ الرُّوحِ الَّذِي عَلَيْكَ وَأَضَعَ عَلَيْهِمْ، فَيُعِينُونَكَ فِي حَمْلِ مَسْؤولِيَّةِ الشَّعْبِ، فَلا تَحْمِلُهَا أَنْتَ وَحْدَكَ. 18 وَقُلْ لِلشَّعْبِ، أَنْ يَتَقَدَّسُوا لِلْغَدِ، فَيَأْكُلُوا لَحْماً، لأَنَّكُمْ قَدْ بَكَيْتُمْ فِي أُذُنَي الرَّبِّ مُتَسَائِلِينَ: مَنْ يُطْعِمُنَا لَحْماً؟ لَقَدْ كَانَ لَنَا خَيْرٌ فِي مِصْرَ. إِنَّ الرَّبَّ سَيُعْطِيكُمْ لَحْماً فَتَأْكُلُونَ. 19 وَسَتَأْكُلُونَهُ لَا لِيَوْمٍ وَاحِدٍ، وَلا لِيَوْمَيْنِ، وَلا لِخَمْسَةِ أَيَّامٍ أَوْ لِعَشْرَةِ أَيَّامٍ وَلا لِعِشْرِينَ يَوْماً، 20 بَلْ لِشَهْرٍ كَامِلٍ إِلَى أَنْ تَعَافُوهُ وَيَخْرُجَ مِنْ أُنُوفِكُمْ، لأَنَّكُمْ رَفَضْتُمُ الرَّبَّ الَّذِي فِي وَسَطِكُمْ، وَبَكَيْتُمْ لَدَيْهِ قَائِلِينَ: لِمَاذَا خَرَجْنَا مِنْ مِصْرَ؟» 21 فَقَالَ مُوسَى: «هَذَا الشَّعْبُ الَّذِي أَنَا قَائِمٌ فِي وَسَطِهِ نَحْوَ سِتِّ مِئَةِ أَلْفِ رَجُلٍ، مَاعَدَا النَّسَاءَ وَالأَطْفَالَ، وَأَنْتَ تَقُولُ إِنَّكَ سَتُعْطِيهِمْ لَحْماً لِيَأْكُلُوا شَهْراً كَامِلاً، 22 فَمَهْمَا ذُبِحَ مِنْ غَنَمٍ وَبَقَرٍ أَيَكْفِيهِمْ؟ أَمْ يَكْفِيهِمْ لَوْ جُمِعَ كُلُّ سَمَكِ الْبَحْرِ؟» 23 فَقَالَ الرَّبُّ لِمُوسَى: «هَلْ تَعْجَزُ يَدُ الرَّبِّ؟ انْتَظِرِ الآنَ لِتَرَى إِنْ كَانَ يَتَحَقَّقُ كَلامِي أَمْ لا». 24 فَخَرجَ مُوسَى وَكَلَّمَ الشَّعْبَ بِمَا قَالَهُ الرَّبُّ، وَجَمَعَ سَبْعِينَ رَجُلاً مِنْ رُؤَسَائِهِمْ وَأَوْقَفَهُمْ حَوْلَ الْخَيْمَةِ. 25 فَنَزَلَ الرَّبُّ فِي سَحَابَةٍ وَخَاطَبَهُ، وَأَخَذَ مِنَ الرُّوحِ الْحَالِّ عَلَيْهِ وَوَضَعَهُ عَلَى السَّبْعِينَ رَئِيساً. فَلَمَّا حَلَّ عَلَيْهِمِ الرُّوحُ تَنَبَّأُوا لِفَتْرَةٍ وَتَوَقَّفُوا. 26 وَكَانَ قَدْ بَقِيَ اثْنَانِ مِنَ الشُّيُوخِ الْمُسَجَّلِينَ بَيْنَ السَّبْعِينَ فِي الْمُخَيَّمِ لَمْ يَأْتِيَا إِلَى الْخَيْمَةِ، اسْمُ أَحَدِهِمَا أَلْدَادُ، وَاسْمُ الآخَرِ مِيدَادُ. فَحَلَّ عَلَيْهِمَا الرُّوحُ فَتَنَبَّآ فِي الْمُخَيَّمِ. 27 فَأَسْرَعَ أَحَدُ الشُّبَّانِ وَأَخْبَرَ مُوسَى بِذَلِكَ، 28 فَقَالَ يَشُوعُ بْنُ نُونَ، مُسَاعِدُ مُوسَى مُنْذُ حَدَاثَتِهِ: «يَا سَيِّدِي، امْنَعْهُمَا!» 29 غَيْرَ أَنَّ مُوسَى قَالَ لَهُ: «هَلْ مَلَأَتْكَ غَيْرَةٌ عَلَيَّ؟ لَيْتَ كُلَّ شَعْبِ الرَّبِّ يُصْبِحُونَ أَنْبِيَاءَ يَحِلُّ عَلَيْهِمِ الرَّبُّ بِرُوحِهِ». 30 ثُمَّ رَجَعَ مُوسَى وَشُيُوخُ إِسْرَائِيلَ إِلَى الْمُخَيَّمِ. 31 فَهَبَّتْ رِيحٌ مِنْ عِنْدِ الرَّبِّ سَاقَتِ السُّمَانِيَ مِنْ جِهَةِ الْبَحْرِ وَأَسْقَطَتْهَا عَلَى الْمُخَيَّمِ، نَحْوَ مَسِيرَةِ يَوْمٍ، مِنْ كِلا جِهَتَيْهِ وَحَوَالَيْهِ، وَتَرَاكَمَ حَتَّى بَلَغَ ارْتِفَاعُهُ ذِرَاعَيْنِ (نَحْوَ مِتْرٍ) فَوْقَ وَجْهِ الأَرْضِ. 32 فَهَبَّ الشَّعْبُ طَوَالَ ذَلِكَ النَّهَارِ وَاللَّيْلِ، وَكُلَّ نَهَارِ الْيَوْمِ التَّالِي يَلْتَقِطُونَ السُّمَانِيَ. فَكَانَتْ أَقَلُّ كَمِّيَّةٍ جُمِعَتْ حَوَالَيْ عَشْرَةِ حَوَامِرَ (نَحْوَ أَلْفَيْنِ وَأَرْبَعَ مِئَةِ لِتْرٍ)، ثُمَّ نَشَرُوهَا حَوْلَ الْمُخَيَّمِ لِتَجِفَّ. 33 وَإِذْ كَانُوا مَازَالُوا يَمْضُغُونَ اللَّحْمَ، احْتَدَمَ غَضَبُ الرَّبِّ عَلَيْهِمْ، فَأَفْشَى بَيْنَهُمْ وَبَأً مُمِيتاً، 34 فَدَعُوا الْمَكَانَ «قَبَرُوتَ هَتَّأَوَةَ» (وَمَعْنَاهُ قُبُورُ الشَّهْوَةِ) لأَنَّهُمْ هُنَاكَ دَفَنُوا الْقَوْمَ الْمُشْتَهِينَ. 35 ثُمَّ ارْتَحَلَ الشَّعْبُ مِنْ قَبَرُوتَ هَتَّأَوَةَ إِلَى حَضَيْرُوتَ وَمَكَثُوا فِيهَا.

New International Version

Fire from the Lord

1 Now the people complained about their hardships in the hearing of the Lord, and when he heard them his anger was aroused. Then fire from the Lord burned among them and consumed some of the outskirts of the camp. 2 When the people cried out to Moses, he prayed to the Lord and the fire died down. 3 So that place was called Taberah,^[1] because fire from the Lord had burned among them.

Quail from the Lord

4 The rabble with them began to crave other food, and again the Israelites started wailing and said, ‘If only we had meat to eat! 5 We remember the fish we ate in Egypt at no cost – also the cucumbers, melons, leeks, onions and garlic. 6 But now we have lost our appetite; we never see anything but this manna!’ 7 The manna was like coriander seed and looked like resin. 8 The people went around gathering it, and then ground it in a hand-mill or crushed it in a mortar. They cooked it in a pot or made it into loaves. And it tasted like something made with olive oil. 9 When the dew settled on the camp at night, the manna also came down. 10 Moses heard the people of every family wailing at the entrance to their tents. The Lord became exceedingly angry, and Moses was troubled. 11 He asked the Lord, ‘Why have you brought this trouble on your servant? What have I done to displease you that you put the burden of all these people on me? 12 Did I conceive all these people? Did I give them birth? Why do you tell me to carry them in my arms, as a nurse carries an infant, to the land you promised on oath to their ancestors? 13 Where can I get meat for all these people? They keep wailing to me, “Give us meat to eat!” 14 I cannot carry all these people by myself; the burden is too heavy for me. 15 If this is how you are going to treat me, please go ahead and kill me right now – if I have found favour in your eyes – and do not let me face my own ruin.’ 16 The Lord said to Moses: ‘Bring me seventy of Israel’s elders who are known to you as leaders and officials among the people. Make them come to the tent of meeting, that they may stand there with you. 17 I will come down and speak with you there, and I will take some of the power of the Spirit that is on you and put it on them. They will share the burden of the people with you so that you will not have to carry it alone. 18 ‘Tell the people: “Consecrate yourselves in preparation for tomorrow, when you will eat meat. The Lord heard you when you wailed, ‘If only we had meat to eat! We were better off in Egypt!’ Now the Lord will give you meat, and you will eat it. 19 You will not eat it for just one day, or two days, or five, ten or twenty days, 20 but for a whole month – until it comes out of your nostrils and you loathe it – because you have rejected the Lord, who is among you, and have wailed before him, saying, ‘Why did we ever leave Egypt?’ ” ’ 21 But Moses said, ‘Here I am among six hundred thousand men on foot, and you say, “I will give them meat to eat for a whole month!” 22 Would they have enough if flocks and herds were slaughtered for them? Would they have enough if all the fish in the sea were caught for them?’ 23 The Lord answered Moses, ‘Is the Lord’s arm too short? Now you will see whether or not what I say will come true for you.’ 24 So Moses went out and told the people what the Lord had said. He brought together seventy of their elders and made them stand round the tent. 25 Then the Lord came down in the cloud and spoke with him, and he took some of the power of the Spirit that was on him and put it on the seventy elders. When the Spirit rested on them, they prophesied – but did not do so again. 26 However, two men, whose names were Eldad and Medad, had remained in the camp. They were listed among the elders, but did not go out to the tent. Yet the Spirit also rested on them, and they prophesied in the camp. 27 A young man ran and told Moses, ‘Eldad and Medad are prophesying in the camp.’ 28 Joshua son of Nun, who had been Moses’ assistant since youth, spoke up and said, ‘Moses, my lord, stop them!’ 29 But Moses replied, ‘Are you jealous for my sake? I wish that all the Lord’s people were prophets and that the Lord would put his Spirit on them!’ 30 Then Moses and the elders of Israel returned to the camp. 31 Now a wind went out from the Lord and drove quail in from the sea. It scattered them up to two cubits^[2] deep all around the camp, as far as a day’s walk in any direction. 32 All that day and night and all the next day the people went out and gathered quail. No-one gathered less than ten homers.^[3] Then they spread them out all around the camp. 33 But while the meat was still between their teeth and before it could be consumed, the anger of the Lord burned against the people, and he struck them with a severe plague. 34 Therefore the place was named Kibroth Hattaavah,^[4] because there they buried the people who had craved other food. 35 From Kibroth Hattaavah the people travelled to Hazeroth and stayed there.

Они готовили её в горшке или делали из неё лепёшки. По вкусу она напоминала лепёшки с оливковым маслом. 9 Когда ночью на лагерь опускалась роса, опускалась на него и манна.

10 Муса услышал, как в каждой семье люди плачут у входа в свои шатры. Вечный очень разгневался, и Муса огорчился. 11 Он спросил Вечного: – За что Ты так мучаешь меня? Чем я прогневил Тебя, что Ты возложил на меня бремя этого народа? 12 Разве я зачал этот народ? Разве я родил его? Почему Ты велишь мне нести его на руках, как нянька носит младенца, в страну, которую Ты с клятвой обещал их предкам? 13 Где мне взять мясо для этого народа? Они плачут предо мной и говорят: «Накорми нас мясом!» 14 Я не могу нести бремя этого народа один; мне это не под силу. 15 Если Ты собираешься так обходиться со мной, то прошу, предай меня смерти прямо сейчас, если я нашёл у Тебя расположение, чтобы мне не видеть своей беды. 16 Вечный сказал Мусе: – Приведи Мне семьдесят человек из исраильских старейшин, которых ты знаешь как вождей народа. Пусть они придут к шатру встречи и встанут там с тобой. 17 Я сойду и буду говорить с тобой там. Я возьму от Духа, что на тебе, и возложу на них. Они помогут тебе нести бремя народа, чтобы тебе не нести его одному. 18 Скажи народу: «Освятитесь к завтрашнему дню, и будете есть мясо. Вечный услышал, как вы плакали и говорили: „Поесть бы нам мяса! В Египте было лучше!“ Вечный накормит вас мясом. 19 Вы будете есть его не один день, не два, не пять, не десять, не двадцать дней, 20 а целый месяц, пока оно не полезет у вас из ноздрей и не станет для вас отвратительным, потому что вы отвергли Вечного, Который среди вас, и плакали перед Ним, говоря: „Зачем мы ушли из Египта?!“» 21 Муса сказал: – Я здесь среди шестисот тысяч пеших мужчин, а Ты говоришь: «Я буду кормить их мясом целый месяц!» 22 Да разве хватит им, если для них забьют весь скот, какой только есть? Разве хватит им, если для них выловят в море всю рыбу? 23 Вечный ответил Мусе: – Разве рука Вечного коротка? Сейчас ты увидишь, исполнится ли Моё обещание тебе. 24 Муса вышел и передал народу то, что сказал Вечный. Он собрал семьдесят человек из старейшин и поставил их вокруг шатра. 25 Тогда Вечный сошёл в облаке и говорил с ним. Он взял от Духа, что был на нём, и возложил на семьдесят старейшин. Дух почил на них, и они пророчествовали, но потом перестали^[2]. 26 Два человека, которых звали Элдад и Медад, оставались в лагере. Они были записаны между старейшинами, но не вышли к шатру. Дух почил и на них, и они пророчествовали в лагере. 27 Юноша прибежал и сказал Мусе: – Элдад и Медад пророчествуют в лагере. 28 Иешуа, сын Нуна, который был помощником Мусы с юности^[3], сказал: – Муса, господин мой, останови их! 29 Но Муса ответил: – Ты ревнуешь за меня? Я хотел бы, чтобы все в народе Вечного стали пророками и Вечный послал бы на них Своего Духа! 30 Потом Муса и старейшины Исраила возвратились в лагерь.

Перепела от Вечного

31 И вот поднялся ветер от Вечного и принёс с моря перепелов. Они были везде на расстоянии дневного пути в каждую сторону от лагеря, летая на высоте около одного метра^[4] от земли^[5]. 32 Весь тот день, всю ночь и весь следующий день народ ходил собирать перепелов, и каждый человек собрал огромное количество^[6] птиц. Они разложили их вокруг лагеря. 33 И пока ещё мясо было у них на зубах, Вечный разгневался на народ и поразил его лютым мором. 34 Поэтому то место было названо Киврот-Хатаава («могилы прихоти»): там похоронили тех, кто поддался прихоти. 35 Из Киврот-Хатаавы народ двинулся к Хацероту и остановился там.
