Gottes Herrlichkeit erfüllt den Tempel

1 Und als Salomo sein Gebet vollendet hatte, fiel Feuer vom Himmel und verzehrte das Brandopfer und die Schlachtopfer, und die Herrlichkeit des HERRN erfüllte das Haus, (2Mo 40,34; 3Mo 9,24; 1Kön 18,38) 2 sodass die Priester nicht ins Haus des HERRN hineingehen konnten, weil die Herrlichkeit des HERRN das Haus des HERRN füllte. 3 Und alle Israeliten sahen das Feuer herabfallen und die Herrlichkeit des HERRN über dem Hause, und sie fielen auf ihre Knie mit dem Antlitz zur Erde aufs Pflaster und beteten an und dankten dem HERRN, dass er gütig ist und seine Barmherzigkeit ewiglich währt. (2Chr 5,13; Ps 106,1; Ps 136,1)

Opfer und Abschluss der Tempelweihe

4 Der König aber und das ganze Volk opferten vor dem HERRN; (1Kön 8,62) 5 zweiundzwanzigtausend Rinder und hundertzwanzigtausend Schafe opferte der König Salomo. Und so weihten sie das Haus Gottes ein, der König und das ganze Volk. 6 Die Priester aber taten ihren Dienst, ebenso die Leviten mit den Saitenspielen des HERRN, die der König David hatte machen lassen, dem HERRN zu danken, dass seine Barmherzigkeit ewiglich währt, mit dem Lobgesang Davids, den sie sangen. Und die Priester bliesen Trompeten ihnen gegenüber, und ganz Israel stand. 7 Und Salomo weihte die Mitte des Vorhofes, der vor dem Hause des HERRN war; denn er hatte dort Brandopfer und das Fett der Dankopfer dargebracht. Denn der bronzene Altar, den Salomo hatte machen lassen, konnte nicht alle Brandopfer, Speisopfer und das Fett fassen. (2Chr 4,1) 8 Und Salomo hielt damals das Fest sieben Tage lang und ganz Israel mit ihm, eine sehr große Gemeinde, von dort, wo es nach Hamat geht, bis an den Bach Ägyptens. 9 Am achten Tage aber hielten sie eine Versammlung; denn die Einweihung des Altars hielten sie sieben Tage und das Fest auch sieben Tage. (4Mo 7,10) 10 Aber am dreiundzwanzigsten Tage des siebenten Monats entließ er das Volk zu ihren Zelten, fröhlich und guten Mutes über all das Gute, das der HERR an David, Salomo und seinem Volk Israel getan hatte. 11 So vollendete Salomo das Haus des HERRN und das Haus des Königs. Und es gelang ihm, alles, was ihm in den Sinn gekommen war, am Hause des HERRN und an seinem Hause auszuführen.

Gottes Antwort auf Salomos Gebet

12 Und der HERR erschien Salomo des Nachts und sprach zu ihm: Ich habe dein Gebet erhört und diese Stätte mir zum Opferhaus erwählt. (5Mo 12,5; 1Kön 9,1; 2Chr 3,1; Jes 56,7; Mk 11,17; Joh 2,16)

13 Siehe, wenn ich den Himmel verschließe, dass es nicht regnet, oder die Heuschrecken das Land fressen oder eine Pest unter mein Volk kommen lasse 14 und dann mein Volk, über das mein Name genannt ist, sich demütigt, dass sie beten und mein Angesicht suchen und sich von ihren bösen Wegen bekehren, so will ich vom Himmel her hören und ihre Sünde vergeben und ihr Land heilen. 15 So sollen nun meine Augen offen sein und meine Ohren aufmerken auf das Gebet an dieser Stätte. (2Chr 6,40) 16 So habe ich nun dies Haus erwählt und geheiligt, dass mein Name dort sein soll ewiglich, und meine Augen und mein Herz sollen dort sein allezeit. 17 Und wenn du vor mir wandelst, wie dein Vater David gewandelt ist, dass du alles tust, was ich dich heiße, und meine Gebote und Rechte hältst, 18 so will ich den Thron deines Königtums bestätigen, wie ich mich deinem Vater David verbunden habe und gesagt: Es soll dir nicht fehlen an einem Mann, der über Israel Herr sei. (2Chr 6,16) 19 Werdet ihr euch aber abkehren und meine Rechte und Gebote, die ich euch vorgelegt habe, verlassen und hingehen und andern Göttern dienen und sie anbeten, 20 so werde ich Israel ausreißen aus meinem Lande, das ich ihnen gegeben habe, und dies Haus, das ich meinem Namen geheiligt habe, werde ich von meinem Angesicht verwerfen und werde es zum Sprichwort machen und zum Spott unter allen Völkern. (5Mo 28,37) 21 Und vor diesem Hause, das so hoch erhoben wurde, werden sich entsetzen alle, die vorübergehen, und sagen: Warum ist der HERR mit diesem Lande und mit diesem Hause so verfahren? (5Mo 29,23; Jer 22,8) 22 Und man wird sagen: Weil sie den HERRN, den Gott ihrer Väter, verlassen haben, der sie aus Ägyptenland geführt hat, und sie sich an andere Götter gehängt und sie angebetet und ihnen gedient haben, darum hat er all dies Unheil über sie gebracht.

11 وَهَكَذَا أَكْمَلَ سُلَيْمَانُ إِقَامَةَ الْهَيْكَلِ وَقَصْرِ الْمَلِكِ، وَحَالَفَهُ النَّجَاحُ فِي كُلِّ مَا خَطَّطَ أَنْ يَبْنِيَهُ فِيهِمَا. 12 وَتَجَلَّى الرَّبُّ لِسُلَيْمَانَ لَيْلاً وَقَالَ لَهُ: «قَدِ اسْتَجَبْتُ صَلاتَكَ، وَاخْتَرْتُ هَذَا الْمَكَانَ لِي لِيَكُونَ هَيْكَلاً لِلذَّبَائِحِ. 13 فَإِنْ أَغْلَقْتُ السَّمَاءَ فَانْحَبَسَ الْمَطَرُ، وَإِنْ أَمَرْتُ الْجَرَادَ أَنْ يَلْتَهِمَ عُشْبَ الأَرْضِ، وَإِنْ جَعَلْتُ الْوَبَأَ يَتَفَشَّى بَيْنَ شَعْبِي، 14 ثُمَّ اتَّضَعَ شَعْبِي الَّذِي دُعِيَ اسْمِي عَلَيْهِمْ، وَتَضَرَّعُوا طَالِبِينَ وَجْهِي، وَتَابُوا عَنْ شَرِّهِم، فَإِنَّنِي أَسْتَجِيبُ مِنَ السَّمَاءِ وَأَصْفَحُ عَنْ خَطِيئَتِهِمْ وَأُخْصِبُ أَرْضَهُمْ. 15 أَمَّا الآنَ فَإِنَّ عَيْنَيَّ تَظَلّانِ مَفْتُوحَتَيْنِ تَرْعَيَانِ هَذَا الْمَكَانَ، وَأُذُنَيَّ تُصْغِيَانِ إِلَى الصَّلاةِ الصَّادِرَةِ مِنْهُ. 16 لَقَدِ اخْتَرْتُ هَذَا الْهَيْكَلَ وَقَدَّسْتُهُ حَتَّى أَضَعَ اسْمِي عَلَيْهِ إِلَى الأَبَدِ، فَتَكُونُ عَيْنَايَ وَقَلْبِي هُنَاكَ إِلَى دَهْرِ الدُّهُورِ. 17 فَإِنْ سَلَكْتَ أَنْتَ أَمَامِي كَمَا سَلَكَ دَاوُدُ أَبُوكَ، وَنَفَّذْتَ كُلَّ مَا أَمَرْتُكَ بِهِ وَأَطَعْتَ فَرَائِضِي وَأَحْكَامِي، 18 فَإِنَّنِي أُثَبِّتُ عَرْشَكَ كَمَا وَعَدْتُ أَبَاكَ قَائِلاً: لَا يَنْقَرِضُ مِنْ نَسْلِهِ رَجُلٌ يَحْكُمُ إِسْرَائِيلَ. 19 وَلَكِنْ إِنِ انْحَرَفْتُمْ وَنَبَذْتُمْ فَرَائِضِي الَّتِي شَرَّعْتُهَا لَكُمْ، وَضَلَلْتُمْ وَرَاءَ آلِهَةٍ أُخْرَى وَعَبَدْتُمُوهَا وَسَجَدْتُمْ لَهَا، 20 فَإِنَّنِي أَسْتَأْصِلُكُمْ مِنْ أَرْضِي الَّتِي وَهَبْتُهَا لَكُمْ، وَأَنْبِذُ هَذَا الْهَيْكَلَ الَّذِي قَدَّسْتُهُ لاسْمِي، وَأَجْعَلُهُ مَثَلاً وَمَثَارَ هُزْءٍ لِجَمِيعِ الأُمَمِ. 21 وَيَغْدُو هَذَا الْهَيْكَلُ الَّذِي كَانَ شَامِخاً عِبْرَةً يُثِيرُ عَجَبَ كُلِّ مَنْ يَمُرُّ بِهِ، فَيَتَسَاءَلُ: لِمَاذَا صَنَعَ الرَّبُّ هَكَذَا بِهَذِهِ الأَرْضِ وَبِهَذَا الْهَيْكَلِ؟ 22 فَيَأْتِيهُمُ الْجَوَابُ: لأَنَّهُمْ تَرَكُوا الرَّبَّ إِلَهَ آبَائِهِمِ الَّذِي أَخْرَجَهُمْ مِنْ دِيَارِ مِصْرَ، وَتَشَبَّثُوا بِآلِهَةٍ أُخْرَى وَسَجَدُوا لَهَا وَعَبَدُوهَا، لِذَلِكَ جَلَبَ عَلَيْهِمْ كُلَّ هَذَا الْبَلاءِ».

The dedication of the temple

1 When Solomon finished praying, fire came down from heaven and consumed the burnt offering and the sacrifices, and the glory of the Lord filled the temple. 2 The priests could not enter the temple of the Lord because the glory of the Lord filled it. 3 When all the Israelites saw the fire coming down and the glory of the Lord above the temple, they knelt on the pavement with their faces to the ground, and they worshipped and gave thanks to the Lord, saying, ‘He is good; his love endures for ever.’ 4 Then the king and all the people offered sacrifices before the Lord. 5 And King Solomon offered a sacrifice of twenty-two thousand head of cattle and a hundred and twenty thousand sheep and goats. So the king and all the people dedicated the temple of God. 6 The priests took up their positions, as did the Levites with the Lord’s musical instruments, which King David had made for praising the Lord and which were used when he gave thanks, saying, ‘His love endures for ever.’ Opposite the Levites, the priests blew their trumpets, and all the Israelites were standing. 7 Solomon consecrated the middle part of the courtyard in front of the temple of the Lord, and there he offered burnt offerings and the fat of the fellowship offerings, because the bronze altar he had made could not hold the burnt offerings, the grain offerings and the fat portions. 8 So Solomon observed the festival at that time for seven days, and all Israel with him – a vast assembly, people from Lebo Hamath to the Wadi of Egypt. 9 On the eighth day they held an assembly, for they had celebrated the dedication of the altar for seven days and the festival for seven days more. 10 On the twenty-third day of the seventh month he sent the people to their homes, joyful and glad in heart for the good things the Lord had done for David and Solomon and for his people Israel.

The Lord appears to Solomon

11 When Solomon had finished the temple of the Lord and the royal palace, and had succeeded in carrying out all he had in mind to do in the temple of the Lord and in his own palace, 12 the Lord appeared to him at night and said: ‘I have heard your prayer and have chosen this place for myself as a temple for sacrifices. 13 ‘When I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or command locusts to devour the land or send a plague among my people, 14 if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land. 15 Now my eyes will be open and my ears attentive to the prayers offered in this place. 16 I have chosen and consecrated this temple so that my Name may be there for ever. My eyes and my heart will always be there. 17 ‘As for you, if you walk before me faithfully as David your father did, and do all I command, and observe my decrees and laws, 18 I will establish your royal throne, as I covenanted with David your father when I said, “You shall never fail to have a successor to rule over Israel.” 19 ‘But if you^[1] turn away and forsake the decrees and commands I have given you^[2] and go off to serve other gods and worship them, 20 then I will uproot Israel from my land, which I have given them, and will reject this temple which I have consecrated for my Name. I will make it a byword and an object of ridicule among all peoples. 21 This temple will become a heap of rubble. All^[3] who pass by will be appalled and say, “Why has the Lord done such a thing to this land and to this temple?” 22 People will answer, “Because they have forsaken the Lord, the God of their ancestors, who brought them out of Egypt, and have embraced other gods, worshipping and serving them – that is why he brought all this disaster on them.” ’
