Der Hauptmann von Kapernaum

1 Nachdem Jesus seine Rede vor dem Volk vollendet hatte, ging er nach Kapernaum. (Mt 8,5; Joh 4,46) 2 Ein Hauptmann aber hatte einen Knecht, der ihm lieb und wert war; der lag todkrank. (Apg 10,1) 3 Da er aber von Jesus hörte, sandte er Älteste der Juden zu ihm und bat ihn, zu kommen und seinen Knecht gesund zu machen. 4 Als sie aber zu Jesus kamen, baten sie ihn inständig und sprachen: Er ist es wert, dass du ihm dies erfüllst; 5 denn er hat unser Volk lieb, und die Synagoge hat er uns erbaut. 6 Da ging Jesus mit ihnen. Als er aber nicht mehr fern von dem Haus war, sandte der Hauptmann Freunde zu ihm und ließ ihm sagen: Ach, Herr, bemühe dich nicht; ich bin nicht wert, dass du unter mein Dach gehst; 7 darum habe ich auch mich selbst nicht für würdig geachtet, zu dir zu kommen; sondern sprich ein Wort, so wird mein Knecht gesund. 8 Denn auch ich bin ein Mensch, der einer Obrigkeit untersteht, und habe Soldaten unter mir; und wenn ich zu einem sage: Geh hin!, so geht er hin; und zu einem andern: Komm her!, so kommt er; und zu meinem Knecht: Tu das!, so tut er’s. 9 Da Jesus das hörte, wunderte er sich über ihn und wandte sich um und sprach zu dem Volk, das ihm nachfolgte: Ich sage euch: Solchen Glauben habe ich auch in Israel nicht gefunden. 10 Und als die Boten wieder nach Hause kamen, fanden sie den Knecht gesund.

Der Sohn der Witwe zu Nain

11 Und es begab sich danach, dass er in eine Stadt mit Namen Nain ging; und seine Jünger gingen mit ihm und eine große Menge. 12 Als er aber nahe an das Stadttor kam, siehe, da trug man einen Toten heraus, der der einzige Sohn seiner Mutter war, und sie war eine Witwe; und eine große Menge aus der Stadt ging mit ihr. (1Kön 17,17; 2Kön 4,32) 13 Und da sie der Herr sah, jammerte sie ihn, und er sprach zu ihr: Weine nicht! 14 Und trat hinzu und berührte den Sarg, und die Träger blieben stehen. Und er sprach: Jüngling, ich sage dir, steh auf! (Mk 5,41; Lk 8,54; Apg 9,40) 15 Und der Tote richtete sich auf und fing an zu reden, und Jesus gab ihn seiner Mutter. (Lk 9,42) 16 Und Furcht ergriff sie alle, und sie priesen Gott und sprachen: Es ist ein großer Prophet unter uns aufgestanden, und: Gott hat sein Volk besucht. (Mt 16,14; Lk 1,68; Lk 24,19) 17 Und diese Kunde von ihm erscholl im ganzen jüdischen Land und in allen umliegenden Ländern. (Lk 4,14)

Die Frage des Täufers

18 Und die Jünger des Johannes verkündeten ihm das alles. Und Johannes rief zwei seiner Jünger zu sich (Mt 11,2) 19 und sandte sie zum Herrn und ließ ihm sagen: Bist du, der da kommen soll, oder sollen wir auf einen andern warten? (Mal 3,1; Lk 3,16) 20 Als aber die Männer zu ihm kamen, sprachen sie: Johannes der Täufer hat uns zu dir gesandt und lässt dir sagen: Bist du, der da kommen soll, oder sollen wir auf einen andern warten? 21 Zu der Stunde machte Jesus viele gesund von Krankheiten und Plagen und bösen Geistern, und vielen Blinden schenkte er das Augenlicht. 22 Und er antwortete und sprach zu ihnen: Geht und verkündet Johannes, was ihr gesehen und gehört habt: Blinde sehen, Lahme gehen, Aussätzige werden rein und Taube hören, Tote stehen auf, Armen wird das Evangelium gepredigt; (Jes 26,19; Jes 29,18; Jes 35,5; Jes 61,1; Lk 4,18)

Jesu Zeugnis über den Täufer

24 Als aber die Boten des Johannes fortgingen, fing Jesus an, zu dem Volk über Johannes zu reden: Was wolltet ihr sehen, als ihr in die Wüste hinausgegangen seid? Ein Schilfrohr, das vom Wind bewegt wird? (Mt 11,7) 25 Oder was wolltet ihr sehen, als ihr hinausgegangen seid? Einen Menschen in weichen Kleidern? Seht, die herrliche Kleider tragen und üppig leben, die sind an den königlichen Höfen. (Mt 3,4; Mk 1,6) 26 Oder was wolltet ihr sehen, als ihr hinausgegangen seid? Einen Propheten? Ja, ich sage euch: Er ist mehr als ein Prophet. (Lk 1,76) 27 Er ist’s, von dem geschrieben steht: »Siehe, ich sende meinen Boten vor dir her, der deinen Weg vor dir bereiten soll.« (Mk 1,2) 28 Ich sage euch, dass unter denen, die von einer Frau geboren sind, keiner größer ist als Johannes; der aber der Kleinste ist im Reich Gottes, ist größer als er. (Lk 1,15) 29 Und alles Volk, das ihn hörte, und die Zöllner gaben Gott recht und ließen sich taufen mit der Taufe des Johannes. (Mt 21,32; Lk 3,12) 30 Aber die Pharisäer und die Lehrer des Gesetzes verwarfen für sich Gottes Ratschluss und ließen sich nicht von ihm taufen. 31 Mit wem soll ich die Menschen dieses Geschlechts vergleichen, und wem sind sie gleich? 32 Sie sind den Kindern gleich, die auf dem Markt sitzen und rufen einander zu: Wir haben euch aufgespielt, und ihr habt nicht getanzt; wir haben Klagelieder gesungen, und ihr habt nicht geweint. 33 Denn Johannes der Täufer ist gekommen und aß kein Brot und trank keinen Wein; und ihr sagt: Er ist von einem Dämon besessen. (Mt 3,4; Lk 1,15) 34 Der Menschensohn ist gekommen, isst und trinkt; und ihr sagt: Siehe, dieser Mensch ist ein Fresser und Weinsäufer, ein Freund der Zöllner und Sünder! (Lk 5,30; Lk 15,2; Lk 19,7) 35 Und doch ist die Weisheit gerechtfertigt worden von allen ihren Kindern. (Spr 8,32; 1Kor 1,24; Sir 4,11)

Jesu Salbung durch eine Sünderin

36 Es bat ihn aber einer der Pharisäer, mit ihm zu essen. Und er ging hinein in das Haus des Pharisäers und setzte sich zu Tisch. (Lk 11,37) 37 Und siehe, eine Frau war in der Stadt, die war eine Sünderin. Als die vernahm, dass er zu Tisch saß im Haus des Pharisäers, brachte sie ein Alabastergefäß mit Salböl (Mk 14,3) 38 und trat von hinten zu seinen Füßen, weinte und fing an, seine Füße mit Tränen zu netzen und mit den Haaren ihres Hauptes zu trocknen, und küsste seine Füße und salbte sie mit dem Salböl. 39 Da aber das der Pharisäer sah, der ihn eingeladen hatte, sprach er bei sich selbst und sagte: Wenn dieser ein Prophet wäre, so wüsste er, wer und was für eine Frau das ist, die ihn anrührt; denn sie ist eine Sünderin. 40 Jesus antwortete und sprach zu ihm: Simon, ich habe dir etwas zu sagen. Er aber sprach: Meister, sag es! 41 Ein Gläubiger hatte zwei Schuldner. Einer war fünfhundert Silbergroschen schuldig, der andere fünfzig. 42 Da sie aber nicht bezahlen konnten, schenkte er’s beiden. Wer von ihnen wird ihn mehr lieben? (Mt 18,27) 43 Simon antwortete und sprach: Ich denke, der, dem er mehr geschenkt hat. Er aber sprach zu ihm: Du hast recht geurteilt. 44 Und er wandte sich zu der Frau und sprach zu Simon: Siehst du diese Frau? Ich bin in dein Haus gekommen; du hast mir kein Wasser für meine Füße gegeben; diese aber hat meine Füße mit Tränen genetzt und mit ihren Haaren getrocknet. (1Mo 18,4) 45 Du hast mir keinen Kuss gegeben; diese aber hat, seit ich hereingekommen bin, nicht abgelassen, meine Füße zu küssen. 46 Du hast mein Haupt nicht mit Öl gesalbt; sie aber hat meine Füße mit Salböl gesalbt. 47 Deshalb sage ich dir: Ihre vielen Sünden sind vergeben, denn sie hat viel geliebt; wem aber wenig vergeben wird, der liebt wenig. 48 Und er sprach zu ihr: Dir sind deine Sünden vergeben. (Lk 5,20) 49 Da fingen die an, die mit zu Tisch saßen, und sprachen bei sich selbst: Wer ist dieser, der auch Sünden vergibt? 50 Er aber sprach zu der Frau: Dein Glaube hat dir geholfen; geh hin in Frieden! 1 Now when he had ended all his sayings in the audience of the people, he entered into Capernaum. 2 And a certain centurion's servant, who was dear unto him, was sick, and ready to die. 3 And when he heard of Jesus, he sent unto him the elders of the Jews, beseeching him that he would come and heal his servant. 4 And when they came to Jesus, they besought him instantly, saying, That he was worthy for whom he should do this: 5 For he loveth our nation, and he hath built us a synagogue. 6 Then Jesus went with them. And when he was now not far from the house, the centurion sent friends to him, saying unto him, Lord, trouble not thyself: for I am not worthy that thou shouldest enter under my roof: 7 Wherefore neither thought I myself worthy to come unto thee: but say in a word, and my servant shall be healed. 8 For I also am a man set under authority, having under me soldiers, and I say unto one, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it. 9 When Jesus heard these things, he marvelled at him, and turned him about, and said unto the people that followed him, I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel. 10 And they that were sent, returning to the house, found the servant whole that had been sick. 11 And it came to pass the day after, that he went into a city called Nain; and many of his disciples went with him, and much people. 12 Now when he came nigh to the gate of the city, behold, there was a dead man carried out, the only son of his mother, and she was a widow: and much people of the city was with her. 13 And when the Lord saw her, he had compassion on her, and said unto her, Weep not. 14 And he came and touched the bier: and they that bare him stood still. And he said, Young man, I say unto thee, Arise. 15 And he that was dead sat up, and began to speak. And he delivered him to his mother. 16 And there came a fear on all: and they glorified God, saying, That a great prophet is risen up among us; and, That God hath visited his people. 17 And this rumour of him went forth throughout all Judaea, and throughout all the region round about. 18 And the disciples of John shewed him of all these things. 19 And John calling unto him two of his disciples sent them to Jesus, saying, Art thou he that should come? or look we for another? 20 When the men were come unto him, they said, John Baptist hath sent us unto thee, saying, Art thou he that should come? or look we for another? 21 And in that same hour he cured many of their infirmities and plagues, and of evil spirits; and unto many that were blind he gave sight. 22 Then Jesus answering said unto them, Go your way, and tell John what things ye have seen and heard; how that the blind see, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, to the poor the gospel is preached. 23 And blessed is he, whosoever shall not be offended in me. 24 And when the messengers of John were departed, he began to speak unto the people concerning John, What went ye out into the wilderness for to see? A reed shaken with the wind? 25 But what went ye out for to see? A man clothed in soft raiment? Behold, they which are gorgeously apparelled, and live delicately, are in kings courts. 26 But what went ye out for to see? A prophet? Yea, I say unto you, and much more than a prophet. 27 This is he, of whom it is written, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee. 28 For I say unto you, Among those that are born of women there is not a greater prophet than John the Baptist: but he that is least in the kingdom of God is greater than he. 29 And all the people that heard him, and the publicans, justified God, being baptized with the baptism of John. 30 But the Pharisees and lawyers rejected the counsel of God against themselves, being not baptized of him. 31 And the Lord said, Whereunto then shall I liken the men of this generation? and to what are they like? 32 They are like unto children sitting in the marketplace, and calling one to another, and saying, We have piped unto you, and ye have not danced; we have mourned to you, and ye have not wept. 33 For John the Baptist came neither eating bread nor drinking wine; and ye say, He hath a devil. 34 The Son of man is come eating and drinking; and ye say, Behold a gluttonous man, and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners! 35 But wisdom is justified of all her children. 36 And one of the Pharisees desired him that he would eat with him. And he went into the Pharisee's house, and sat down to meat. 37 And, behold, a woman in the city, which was a sinner, when she knew that Jesus sat at meat in the Pharisee's house, brought an alabaster box of ointment, 38 And stood at his feet behind him weeping, and began to wash his feet with tears, and did wipe them with the hairs of her head, and kissed his feet, and anointed them with the ointment. 39 Now when the Pharisee which had bidden him saw it, he spake within himself, saying, This man, if he were a prophet, would have known who and what manner of woman this is that toucheth him: for she is a sinner. 40 And Jesus answering said unto him, Simon, I have somewhat to say unto thee. And he saith, Master, say on. 41 There was a certain creditor which had two debtors: the one owed five hundred pence, and the other fifty. 42 And when they had nothing to pay, he frankly forgave them both. Tell me therefore, which of them will love him most? 43 Simon answered and said, I suppose that he, to whom he forgave most. And he said unto him, Thou hast rightly judged. 44 And he turned to the woman, and said unto Simon, Seest thou this woman? I entered into thine house, thou gavest me no water for my feet: but she hath washed my feet with tears, and wiped them with the hairs of her head. 45 Thou gavest me no kiss: but this woman since the time I came in hath not ceased to kiss my feet. 46 My head with oil thou didst not anoint: but this woman hath anointed my feet with ointment. 47 Wherefore I say unto thee, Her sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she loved much: but to whom little is forgiven, the same loveth little. 48 And he said unto her, Thy sins are forgiven. 49 And they that sat at meat with him began to say within themselves, Who is this that forgiveth sins also? 50 And he said to the woman, Thy faith hath saved thee; go in peace.
