Das Schicksal Ägyptens

1 Im zehnten Jahr am zwölften Tag des zehnten Monats geschah des HERRN Wort zu mir: (Jes 19,1; Jer 46,2) 2 Du Menschenkind, richte dein Angesicht gegen den Pharao, den König von Ägypten, und weissage gegen ihn und gegen ganz Ägypten. 3 Rede und sprich: So spricht Gott der HERR: Siehe, ich will an dich, Pharao, du König von Ägypten, du großer Drache, der in seinem Strom liegt und spricht: »Der Nil ist mein und ich habe ihn mir gemacht.« (Hes 32,2) 4 Aber ich will dir Haken ins Maul legen und die Fische in deinem Strom an deine Schuppen hängen und will dich aus deinem Strom herausziehen samt allen Fischen in deinem Strom, die an deinen Schuppen hängen. 5 Ich will dich und alle Fische aus deinem Strom in die Wüste werfen; du wirst aufs Land fallen und nicht wieder aufgelesen und gesammelt werden, sondern ich gebe dich den Tieren auf dem Land und den Vögeln des Himmels zum Fraß. 6 Und alle, die in Ägypten wohnen, sollen erfahren, dass ich der HERR bin. Weil du dem Hause Israel ein Rohrstab gewesen bist – (2Kön 18,21) 7 wenn sie dich mit der Hand anfassten, so brachst du und stachst sie in die Seite; und wenn sie sich auf dich lehnten, so brachst du entzwei und alle Hüften wankten –, 8 darum, so spricht Gott der HERR: Siehe, ich will das Schwert über dich kommen lassen und Menschen und Vieh in dir ausrotten. 9 Und Ägyptenland soll zur Wüste und Öde werden, und sie sollen erfahren, dass ich der HERR bin. Weil du sprichst: »Der Nil ist mein und ich bin’s, der ihn gemacht hat«, – 10 darum siehe, ich will an dich und an deine Wasserströme und will Ägyptenland zur Wüste und Öde machen von Migdol bis nach Syene und bis an die Grenze von Kusch, (Hes 30,6) 11 dass vierzig Jahre lang weder Mensch noch Tier das Land durchziehen oder darin wohnen soll. (4Mo 14,33) 12 Denn ich will Ägyptenland zur Wüste machen inmitten verwüsteter Länder und ihre Städte in Trümmern liegen lassen inmitten verwüsteter Städte vierzig Jahre lang und will die Ägypter zerstreuen unter die Völker, und in die Länder will ich sie verjagen. 13 Denn so spricht Gott der HERR: Wenn die vierzig Jahre um sein werden, will ich die Ägypter wieder sammeln aus den Völkern, unter die sie zerstreut werden sollen, 14 und will das Geschick Ägyptens wenden und sie wieder ins Land Patros bringen, in ihr Vaterland; aber sie sollen dort nur ein kleines Königreich sein. 15 Sie sollen kleiner sein als andere Reiche und nicht mehr sich erheben über die Völker, und ich will sie gering machen, dass sie nicht über die Völker herrschen sollen, 16 damit sich das Haus Israel nicht mehr auf sie verlässt und sich damit versündigt, wenn es sich an sie hängt; und sie sollen erfahren, dass ich Gott der HERR bin.

Ägypten als Lohn für Nebukadnezar

17 Und es begab sich im siebenundzwanzigsten Jahr am ersten Tag des ersten Monats, da geschah des HERRN Wort zu mir: 18 Du Menschenkind! Nebukadnezar, der König von Babel, hat sein Heer in hartem Dienst vor Tyrus arbeiten lassen, sodass alle Häupter kahl wurden und alle Schultern wund gerieben waren; und doch ist weder ihm noch seinem Heer all die Arbeit vor Tyrus belohnt worden. 19 Darum, so spricht Gott der HERR: Siehe, ich will Nebukadnezar, dem König von Babel, Ägyptenland geben, dass er all ihr Gut wegnehmen und sie berauben und plündern soll, damit er seinem Heer den Sold gebe. 20 Zum Lohn für die Arbeit, die er vor Tyrus getan hat, will ich ihm das Land Ägypten geben; denn sie haben für mich gearbeitet, spricht Gott der HERR. 21 Zur selben Zeit will ich dem Hause Israel wieder Macht geben und will deinen Mund unter ihnen auftun, damit sie erfahren, dass ich der HERR bin.

Prophecy Against Egypt

3 speak, and say, Thus says the Lord God: “Behold, I am against you, Pharaoh king of Egypt, the great dragon that lies in the midst of his streams, that says, ‘My Nile is my own; I made it for myself.’ (Ps 74,13; Jes 27,1; Jes 51,9; Hes 13,8; Hes 29,9; Hes 32,2)

4 I will put hooks in your jaws, and make the fish of your streams stick to your scales; and I will draw you up out of the midst of your streams, with all the fish of your streams that stick to your scales. (2Kön 19,28; Hes 19,9; Hes 38,4) 5 And I will cast you out into the wilderness, you and all the fish of your streams; you shall fall on the open field, and not be brought together or gathered. To the beasts of the earth and to the birds of the heavens I give you as food. 8 Therefore thus says the Lord God: Behold, I will bring a sword upon you, and will cut off from you man and beast, (Hes 14,17) 9 and the land of Egypt shall be a desolation and a waste. Then they will know that I am the Lord. “Because you^[3] said, ‘The Nile is mine, and I made it,’ (Hes 13,8; Hes 29,3; Hes 29,6) 10 therefore, behold, I am against you and against your streams, and I will make the land of Egypt an utter waste and desolation, from Migdol to Syene, as far as the border of Cush. (Hes 29,9; Hes 30,6; Hes 30,12) 11 No foot of man shall pass through it, and no foot of beast shall pass through it; it shall be uninhabited forty years. 13 “For thus says the Lord God: At the end of forty years I will gather the Egyptians from the peoples among whom they were scattered, (Jes 19,22; Jer 46,26) 14 and I will restore the fortunes of Egypt and bring them back to the land of Pathros, the land of their origin, and there they shall be a lowly kingdom. (Jes 11,11; Hes 30,14; Hes 39,25) 15 It shall be the most lowly of the kingdoms, and never again exalt itself above the nations. And I will make them so small that they will never again rule over the nations. (Hes 30,13) 16 And it shall never again be the reliance of the house of Israel, recalling their iniquity, when they turn to them for aid. 17 In the twenty-seventh year, in the first month, on the first day of the month, the word of the Lord came to me: (Hes 20,1) 18 “Son of man, Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon made his army labor hard against Tyre. Every head was made bald, and every shoulder was rubbed bare, yet neither he nor his army got anything from Tyre to pay for the labor that he had performed against her. (Hes 2,1; Hes 26,7) 19 Therefore thus says the Lord God: Behold, I will give the land of Egypt to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon; and he shall carry off its wealth^[4] and despoil it and plunder it; and it shall be the wages for his army. 20 I have given him the land of Egypt as his payment for which he labored, because they worked for me, declares the Lord God. (Jes 43,3) 21 “On that day I will cause a horn to spring up for the house of Israel, and I will open your lips among them.
