English Standard Version

von Crossway
1 “Then bring near to you Aaron your brother, and his sons with him, from among the people of Israel, to serve me as priests—Aaron and Aaron’s sons, Nadab and Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar. (2Mo 6,23; 4Mo 18,7; Hebr 5,4)2 And you shall make holy garments for Aaron your brother, for glory and for beauty. (2Mo 28,40; 2Mo 29,5; 2Mo 29,29; 2Mo 31,10; 2Mo 39,1; 3Mo 8,7; 3Mo 8,30; 4Mo 20,26; 4Mo 20,28)3 You shall speak to all the skillful, whom I have filled with a spirit of skill, that they make Aaron’s garments to consecrate him for my priesthood. (2Mo 31,6; 2Mo 35,10; 2Mo 35,25; 2Mo 36,1)4 These are the garments that they shall make: a breastpiece, an ephod, a robe, a coat of checker work, a turban, and a sash. They shall make holy garments for Aaron your brother and his sons to serve me as priests. (2Mo 28,6; 2Mo 28,15; 2Mo 28,31; 2Mo 28,39; 3Mo 8,7)5 They shall receive gold, blue and purple and scarlet yarns, and fine twined linen. (2Mo 25,3)6 “And they shall make the ephod of gold, of blue and purple and scarlet yarns, and of fine twined linen, skillfully worked. (2Mo 39,2)7 It shall have two shoulder pieces attached to its two edges, so that it may be joined together.8 And the skillfully woven band on it shall be made like it and be of one piece with it, of gold, blue and purple and scarlet yarns, and fine twined linen. (2Mo 28,27; 2Mo 29,5; 2Mo 39,5; 3Mo 8,7)9 You shall take two onyx stones, and engrave on them the names of the sons of Israel,10 six of their names on the one stone, and the names of the remaining six on the other stone, in the order of their birth.11 As a jeweler engraves signets, so shall you engrave the two stones with the names of the sons of Israel. You shall enclose them in settings of gold filigree.12 And you shall set the two stones on the shoulder pieces of the ephod, as stones of remembrance for the sons of Israel. And Aaron shall bear their names before the Lord on his two shoulders for remembrance. (2Mo 28,29; 4Mo 16,40; Jos 4,7; Sach 6,14)13 You shall make settings of gold filigree,14 and two chains of pure gold, twisted like cords; and you shall attach the corded chains to the settings.15 “You shall make a breastpiece of judgment, in skilled work. In the style of the ephod you shall make it—of gold, blue and purple and scarlet yarns, and fine twined linen shall you make it. (2Mo 39,8)16 It shall be square and doubled, a span[1] its length and a span its breadth.17 You shall set in it four rows of stones. A row of sardius,[2] topaz, and carbuncle shall be the first row; (Hes 28,13; Offb 21,19)18 and the second row an emerald, a sapphire, and a diamond;19 and the third row a jacinth, an agate, and an amethyst;20 and the fourth row a beryl, an onyx, and a jasper. They shall be set in gold filigree.21 There shall be twelve stones with their names according to the names of the sons of Israel. They shall be like signets, each engraved with its name, for the twelve tribes.22 You shall make for the breastpiece twisted chains like cords, of pure gold.23 And you shall make for the breastpiece two rings of gold, and put the two rings on the two edges of the breastpiece.24 And you shall put the two cords of gold in the two rings at the edges of the breastpiece.25 The two ends of the two cords you shall attach to the two settings of filigree, and so attach it in front to the shoulder pieces of the ephod.26 You shall make two rings of gold, and put them at the two ends of the breastpiece, on its inside edge next to the ephod.27 And you shall make two rings of gold, and attach them in front to the lower part of the two shoulder pieces of the ephod, at its seam above the skillfully woven band of the ephod. (2Mo 28,8)28 And they shall bind the breastpiece by its rings to the rings of the ephod with a lace of blue, so that it may lie on the skillfully woven band of the ephod, so that the breastpiece shall not come loose from the ephod.29 So Aaron shall bear the names of the sons of Israel in the breastpiece of judgment on his heart, when he goes into the Holy Place, to bring them to regular remembrance before the Lord. (2Mo 28,12; 2Mo 28,30)30 And in the breastpiece of judgment you shall put the Urim and the Thummim, and they shall be on Aaron’s heart, when he goes in before the Lord. Thus Aaron shall bear the judgment of the people of Israel on his heart before the Lord regularly. (3Mo 8,8; 4Mo 27,21; 5Mo 33,8; 1Sam 23,9; 1Sam 28,6; 1Sam 30,7; Esr 2,63; Neh 7,65)31 “You shall make the robe of the ephod all of blue. (2Mo 39,22)32 It shall have an opening for the head in the middle of it, with a woven binding around the opening, like the opening in a garment,[3] so that it may not tear.33 On its hem you shall make pomegranates of blue and purple and scarlet yarns, around its hem, with bells of gold between them,34 a golden bell and a pomegranate, a golden bell and a pomegranate, around the hem of the robe.35 And it shall be on Aaron when he ministers, and its sound shall be heard when he goes into the Holy Place before the Lord, and when he comes out, so that he does not die.36 “You shall make a plate of pure gold and engrave on it, like the engraving of a signet, ‘Holy to the Lord.’ (3Mo 8,9; Sach 14,20)37 And you shall fasten it on the turban by a cord of blue. It shall be on the front of the turban.38 It shall be on Aaron’s forehead, and Aaron shall bear any guilt from the holy things that the people of Israel consecrate as their holy gifts. It shall regularly be on his forehead, that they may be accepted before the Lord. (3Mo 10,17; 4Mo 18,1; Jes 53,11; Hes 4,4; Joh 1,29; Hebr 9,28; 1Petr 2,24)39 “You shall weave the coat in checker work of fine linen, and you shall make a turban of fine linen, and you shall make a sash embroidered with needlework.40 “For Aaron’s sons you shall make coats and sashes and caps. You shall make them for glory and beauty. (2Mo 28,2; 2Mo 39,27; 2Mo 39,41; Hes 44,17)41 And you shall put them on Aaron your brother, and on his sons with him, and shall anoint them and ordain them and consecrate them, that they may serve me as priests. (2Mo 29,7; 2Mo 29,9; 2Mo 30,30; 2Mo 40,13; 2Mo 40,15; 3Mo 10,7; 3Mo 21,10; Hebr 7,28)42 You shall make for them linen undergarments to cover their naked flesh. They shall reach from the hips to the thighs; (3Mo 6,10; 3Mo 16,4; Hes 44,18)43 and they shall be on Aaron and on his sons when they go into the tent of meeting or when they come near the altar to minister in the Holy Place, lest they bear guilt and die. This shall be a statute forever for him and for his offspring after him. (2Mo 27,21; 3Mo 5,1; 3Mo 5,17; 3Mo 20,19)

2.Mose 28

King James Version

1 And take thou unto thee Aaron thy brother, and his sons with him, from among the children of Israel, that he may minister unto me in the priest' office, even Aaron, Nadab and Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar, Aaron' sons.2 And thou shalt make holy garments for Aaron thy brother for glory and for beauty.3 And thou shalt speak unto all that are wise hearted, whom I have filled with the spirit of wisdom, that they may make Aaron' garments to consecrate him, that he may minister unto me in the priest' office.4 And these are the garments which they shall make; a breastplate, and an ephod, and a robe, and a broidered coat, a mitre, and a girdle: and they shall make holy garments for Aaron thy brother, and his sons, that he may minister unto me in the priest' office.5 And they shall take gold, and blue, and purple, and scarlet, and fine linen.6 And they shall make the ephod of gold, of blue, and of purple, of scarlet, and fine twined linen, with cunning work.7 It shall have the two shoulderpieces thereof joined at the two edges thereof; and so it shall be joined together.8 And the curious girdle of the ephod, which is upon it, shall be of the same, according to the work thereof; even of gold, of blue, and purple, and scarlet, and fine twined linen.9 And thou shalt take two onyx stones, and grave on them the names of the children of Israel:10 Six of their names on one stone, and the other six names of the rest on the other stone, according to their birth.11 With the work of an engraver in stone, like the engravings of a signet, shalt thou engrave the two stones with the names of the children of Israel: thou shalt make them to be set in ouches of gold.12 And thou shalt put the two stones upon the shoulders of the ephod for stones of memorial unto the children of Israel: and Aaron shall bear their names before the LORD upon his two shoulders for a memorial.13 And thou shalt make ouches of gold;14 And two chains of pure gold at the ends; of wreathen work shalt thou make them, and fasten the wreathen chains to the ouches.15 And thou shalt make the breastplate of judgment with cunning work; after the work of the ephod thou shalt make it; of gold, of blue, and of purple, and of scarlet, and of fine twined linen, shalt thou make it.16 Foursquare it shall be being doubled; a span shall be the length thereof, and a span shall be the breadth thereof.17 And thou shalt set in it settings of stones, even four rows of stones: the first row shall be a sardius, a topaz, and a carbuncle: this shall be the first row.18 And the second row shall be an emerald, a sapphire, and a diamond.19 And the third row a ligure, an agate, and an amethyst.20 And the fourth row a beryl, and an onyx, and a jasper: they shall be set in gold in their inclosings.21 And the stones shall be with the names of the children of Israel, twelve, according to their names, like the engravings of a signet; every one with his name shall they be according to the twelve tribes.22 And thou shalt make upon the breastplate chains at the ends of wreathen work of pure gold.23 And thou shalt make upon the breastplate two rings of gold, and shalt put the two rings on the two ends of the breastplate.24 And thou shalt put the two wreathen chains of gold in the two rings which are on the ends of the breastplate.25 And the other two ends of the two wreathen chains thou shalt fasten in the two ouches, and put them on the shoulderpieces of the ephod before it.26 And thou shalt make two rings of gold, and thou shalt put them upon the two ends of the breastplate in the border thereof, which is in the side of the ephod inward.27 And two other rings of gold thou shalt make, and shalt put them on the two sides of the ephod underneath, toward the forepart thereof, over against the other coupling thereof, above the curious girdle of the ephod.28 And they shall bind the breastplate by the rings thereof unto the rings of the ephod with a lace of blue, that it may be above the curious girdle of the ephod, and that the breastplate be not loosed from the ephod.29 And Aaron shall bear the names of the children of Israel in the breastplate of judgment upon his heart, when he goeth in unto the holy place , for a memorial before the LORD continually.30 And thou shalt put in the breastplate of judgment the Urim and the Thummim; and they shall be upon Aaron' heart, when he goeth in before the LORD: and Aaron shall bear the judgment of the children of Israel upon his heart before the LORD continually.31 And thou shalt make the robe of the ephod all of blue.32 And there shall be an hole in the top of it, in the midst thereof: it shall have a binding of woven work round about the hole of it, as it were the hole of an habergeon, that it be not rent.33 And beneath upon the hem of it thou shalt make pomegranates of blue, and of purple, and of scarlet, round about the hem thereof; and bells of gold between them round about:34 A golden bell and a pomegranate, a golden bell and a pomegranate, upon the hem of the robe round about.35 And it shall be upon Aaron to minister: and his sound shall be heard when he goeth in unto the holy place before the LORD, and when he cometh out, that he die not.36 And thou shalt make a plate of pure gold, and grave upon it, like the engravings of a signet, HOLINESS TO THE LORD.37 And thou shalt put it on a blue lace, that it may be upon the mitre; upon the forefront of the mitre it shall be.38 And it shall be upon Aaron' forehead, that Aaron may bear the iniquity of the holy things, which the children of Israel shall hallow in all their holy gifts; and it shall be always upon his forehead, that they may be accepted before the LORD.39 And thou shalt embroider the coat of fine linen, and thou shalt make the mitre of fine linen, and thou shalt make the girdle of needlework.40 And for Aaron' sons thou shalt make coats, and thou shalt make for them girdles, and bonnets shalt thou make for them, for glory and for beauty.41 And thou shalt put them upon Aaron thy brother, and his sons with him; and shalt anoint them, and consecrate them, and sanctify them, that they may minister unto me in the priest' office.42 And thou shalt make them linen breeches to cover their nakedness; from the loins even unto the thighs they shall reach:43 And they shall be upon Aaron, and upon his sons, when they come in unto the tabernacle of the congregation, or when they come near unto the altar to minister in the holy place ; that they bear not iniquity, and die: it shall be a statute for ever unto him and his seed after him.
