1Als nun Abram neunundneunzig Jahre alt war, erschien ihm der HERR und sprach zu ihm: Ich bin der allmächtige Gott[1]; wandle vor mir und sei fromm. (1Mo 35,11; 2Mo 6,3; 5Mo 10,12)2Und ich will meinen Bund zwischen mir und dir schließen und will dich über alle Maßen mehren.3Da fiel Abram auf sein Angesicht. Und Gott redete weiter mit ihm und sprach:4Siehe, ich habe meinen Bund mit dir, und du sollst ein Vater vieler Völker werden.5Darum sollst du nicht mehr Abram heißen, sondern Abraham soll dein Name sein; denn ich habe dich gemacht zum Vater vieler Völker. (Röm 4,11; Röm 4,17)6Und ich will dich sehr fruchtbar machen und will aus dir Völker machen und Könige sollen von dir kommen.7Und ich will aufrichten meinen Bund zwischen mir und dir und deinen Nachkommen von Geschlecht zu Geschlecht, dass es ein ewiger Bund sei, sodass ich dein und deiner Nachkommen Gott bin.8Und ich will dir und deinem Geschlecht nach dir das Land geben, darin du ein Fremdling bist, das ganze Land Kanaan, zu ewigem Besitz und will ihr Gott sein. Und so soll mein Bund an eurem Fleisch zu einem ewigen Bund werden.14Ein Unbeschnittener aber, der nicht beschnitten wird an seiner Vorhaut, soll ausgerottet werden aus seinem Volk; meinen Bund hat er gebrochen. (1Mo 34,15; 3Mo 12,3)15Und Gott sprach abermals zu Abraham: Du sollst Sarai, deine Frau, nicht mehr Sarai nennen, sondern Sara soll ihr Name sein.16Denn ich will sie segnen, und auch von ihr will ich dir einen Sohn geben; ich will sie segnen, und Völker sollen aus ihr werden und Könige über viele Völker. (1Mo 12,2)17Da fiel Abraham auf sein Angesicht und lachte und sprach in seinem Herzen: Soll mir mit hundert Jahren ein Kind geboren werden, und soll Sara, neunzig Jahre alt, gebären? Und Gott fuhr auf von Abraham.23Da nahm Abraham seinen Sohn Ismael und alle Knechte, die in seinem Hause geboren, und alle, die von ihm gekauft waren, alle Männer im Hause Abrahams, und beschnitt ihre Vorhaut an ebendiesem Tage, wie ihm Gott gesagt hatte.24Und Abraham war neunundneunzig Jahre alt, als er seine Vorhaut beschnitt.25Ismael aber, sein Sohn, war dreizehn Jahre alt, als seine Vorhaut beschnitten wurde.26Eben auf diesen Tag wurden Abraham und sein Sohn Ismael beschnitten.27Und alle Männer seines Hauses, im Hause geboren und gekauft von Fremden, wurden mit ihm beschnitten.

Isaac’s Birth Promised
15And God said to Abraham, “As for Sarai your wife, you shall not call her name Sarai, but Sarah[4] shall be her name.16I will bless her, and moreover, I will give[5] you a son by her. I will bless her, and she shall become nations; kings of peoples shall come from her.” (1Mo 18,10; 1Mo 35,11)17Then Abraham fell on his face and laughed and said to himself, “Shall a child be born to a man who is a hundred years old? 1When Abram was 99 years old, the LORD appeared to him. He said, ‘I am the Mighty God. Walk faithfully with me. Live in a way that pleases me.2I will now act on my covenant between me and you. I will greatly increase the number of your children after you.’3Abram fell with his face to the ground. God said to him,4‘This is my covenant with you. You will be the father of many nations.5You will not be called Abram anymore. Your name will be Abraham, because I have made you a father of many nations.6I will greatly increase the number of your children after you. Nations and kings will come from you.7I will make my covenant with you last for ever. It will be between me and you and your family after you for all time to come. I will be your God. He laughed and said to himself, ‘Can a 100-year-old man have a son? But your wife Sarah will have a son by you. And you will name him Isaac. I will establish my covenant with him. That covenant will last for ever. And I will make him into a great nation.21But I will establish my covenant with Isaac. By this time next year, Sarah will have a son by you.’22When God had finished speaking with Abraham, God left him.23On that same day Abraham circumcised his son Ishmael. He also circumcised every male who was born into his family or bought with his money. He did exactly as God had told him.24Abraham was 99 years old when he was circumcised.25His son Ishmael was 13.26Abraham and his son Ishmael were both circumcised on that same day.27And every male in Abraham’s household was circumcised along with him. That included those born into his family or bought from a stranger.
