1Wohlan, ich will von meinem lieben Freunde singen, ein Lied von meinem Freund und seinem Weinberg. Mein Freund hatte einen Weinberg auf einer fetten Höhe. (Jes 27,2)2Und er grub ihn um und entsteinte ihn und pflanzte darin edle Reben. Er baute auch einen Turm darin und grub eine Kelter und wartete darauf, dass er gute Trauben brächte; aber er brachte schlechte. (Jer 2,21; Mk 12,1)3Nun richtet, ihr Bürger zu Jerusalem und ihr Männer Judas, zwischen mir und meinem Weinberg!4Was sollte man noch mehr tun an meinem Weinberg, das ich nicht getan habe an ihm? Warum hat er denn schlechte Trauben gebracht, während ich darauf wartete, dass er gute brächte?5Wohlan, ich will euch zeigen, was ich mit meinem Weinberg tun will! Sein Zaun soll weggenommen werden, dass er kahl gefressen werde, und seine Mauer soll eingerissen werden, dass er zertreten werde.6Ich will ihn wüst liegen lassen, dass er nicht beschnitten noch gehackt werde, sondern Disteln und Dornen darauf wachsen, und will den Wolken gebieten, dass sie nicht darauf regnen. (Jes 7,23)7Des HERRN Zebaoth Weinberg aber ist das Haus Israel und die Männer Judas seine Pflanzung, an der sein Herz hing. Er wartete auf Rechtsspruch, siehe, da war Rechtsbruch, auf Gerechtigkeit, siehe, da war Geschrei über Schlechtigkeit. (Jes 3,14)
Weherufe über die Sünden der Großen
8Weh denen, die ein Haus zum andern bringen und einen Acker an den andern rücken, bis kein Raum mehr da ist und ihr allein das Land besitzt! (5Mo 5,21; Mi 2,2)9Es ist in meinen Ohren das Wort des HERRN Zebaoth: Fürwahr, die vielen Häuser sollen veröden, die großen und feinen unbewohnt sein, (Jes 6,11)10denn zehn Morgen Weinberg sollen nur einen Eimer geben und ein Sack Saat nur einen Scheffel.11Weh denen, die des Morgens früh auf sind, dem Saufen nachzugehen, und sitzen bis in die Nacht, dass sie der Wein erhitzt.12Und sie haben Harfen, Zithern, Pauken, Pfeifen und Wein bei ihren Gelagen, aber sehen nicht auf das Werk des HERRN und schauen nicht auf das Tun seiner Hände! (Jes 22,11; Am 6,5)13Darum ist mein Volk weggeführt worden, weil es keine Erkenntnis hatte, und seine Vornehmen mussten Hunger leiden und die lärmende Menge Durst. (Hos 4,6)14Darum hat das Totenreich den Schlund weit aufgesperrt und den Rachen aufgetan ohne Maß, dass hinunterfährt, was da prangt und lärmt, alle Übermütigen und Fröhlichen.15So wurde gebeugt der Mensch und gedemütigt der Mann, und die Augen der Hoffärtigen wurden erniedrigt, (Jes 2,11; Jes 2,17)16aber der HERR Zebaoth war hoch im Gericht und Gott, der Heilige, erwies sich heilig in Gerechtigkeit.17Da werden dann Lämmer weiden wie auf ihrer Trift und Ziegen sich nähren in den Trümmerstätten der Wohlgenährten.18Weh denen, die das Unrecht herbeiziehen mit Stricken der Lüge und die Sünde mit Wagenseilen19und sprechen: Er lasse eilends und bald kommen sein Werk, dass wir’s sehen; es nahe und treffe ein der Ratschluss des Heiligen Israels, dass wir ihn kennenlernen! (Jer 17,15; Am 5,18)20Weh denen, die Böses gut und Gutes böse nennen, die aus Finsternis Licht und aus Licht Finsternis machen, die aus sauer süß und aus süß sauer machen!21Weh denen, die weise sind in ihren eigenen Augen und halten sich selbst für klug! (Spr 3,7; Röm 12,16)22Weh denen, die Helden sind, Wein zu saufen, und wackere Männer, starkes Getränk zu mischen, (Jes 28,7; Jes 56,12)23die den Schuldigen gerecht sprechen für Geschenke und das Recht nehmen denen, die im Recht sind! (2Mo 23,8; Spr 17,15)24Darum, wie des Feuers Flamme Stroh verzehrt und Stoppeln vergehen in der Flamme, so wird ihre Wurzel verfaulen und ihre Blüte auffliegen wie Staub. Denn sie haben verachtet die Weisung des HERRN Zebaoth und gelästert die Rede des Heiligen Israels. (Jer 6,19; Am 2,4)
Gott ruft die Feinde ins Land
25Darum ist der Zorn des HERRN entbrannt über sein Volk, und er hat seine Hand ausgereckt wider sie und sie geschlagen, dass die Berge bebten und ihre Leichen lagen wie Kehricht auf den Gassen. Bei all dem hat sein Zorn sich nicht abgekehrt, seine Hand ist noch ausgereckt. (Jes 9,11; Jes 9,16; Jes 9,20; Jes 10,4)26Er wird ein Feldzeichen aufrichten für das Volk[1] aus der Ferne und pfeift es herbei vom Ende der Erde. Und siehe, eilends und schnell kommen sie daher. (Jes 7,18)27Keiner unter ihnen ist müde oder strauchelt, keiner schlummert noch schläft; keinem geht der Gürtel auf von seinen Hüften, und keinem zerreißt ein Schuhriemen.28Ihre Pfeile sind scharf und alle ihre Bogen gespannt; die Hufe ihrer Rosse sind hart wie Kieselsteine, und ihre Wagenräder sind wie ein Sturmwind.29Ihr Brüllen ist wie das der Löwen, und sie brüllen wie junge Löwen. Sie wüten und packen den Raub und tragen ihn davon und niemand rettet.30Und es wird über ihnen wüten zu der Zeit wie das Wüten des Meeres. Sieht man dann die Erde an, siehe, so ist sie finster vor Angst, und das Licht ist durch Wolken verfinstert. (Jes 8,22)
1Singen will ich von meinem Freund[1], das Lied meines Liebsten von seinem Weinberg: Einen Weinberg hatte mein Freund auf einem fetten Hügel[2]. Dann hoffte er, dass er Trauben brachte. Doch er brachte schlechte Beeren. (Ps 80,9; Jer 2,21; Mt 21,33)3Und nun, Bewohner von Jerusalem und Männer von Juda, richtet doch zwischen mir und meinem Weinberg! (Mi 6,2)4Was war an meinem Weinberg noch zu tun, und ich hätte es nicht an ihm getan? Warum habe ich erwartet, dass er Trauben bringe, und er brachte schlechte Beeren?5Nun, so will ich euch denn mitteilen, was ich mit meinem Weinberg tun werde: Seinen Zaun ⟨will ich⟩ entfernen, dass er abgeweidet wird, seine Mauer niederreißen, dass er zertreten wird. (Ps 80,13; Ps 89,41; Jer 45,4; Hos 2,14)6Ich werde ihn zur Wüstenei machen. Er soll nicht beschnitten und nicht behackt werden, in Dornen und Disteln soll er aufgehen. Und ich will den Wolken befehlen, dass sie keinen Regen auf ihn regnen lassen. (Spr 24,31; Jes 32,13; Kla 2,6)7Denn der Weinberg des HERRN der Heerscharen ist das Haus Israel, und die Männer von Juda sind die Pflanzung seiner Lust. Und er wartete auf Rechtsspruch, und siehe da: Rechtsbruch; auf Gerechtigkeit, und siehe da: Geschrei über Schlechtigkeit[3]. (Neh 5,1; Jes 1,21; Jes 46,12; Hos 10,1; Mt 21,45; Lk 20,10)
Sechs Weherufe über Juda
8Wehe denen, die Haus an Haus reihen, Feld an Feld rücken, bis kein Raum mehr ist und ihr allein ansässig seid[4] mitten im Land! (Mi 2,1; Hab 2,6)9⟨So hat⟩ der HERR der Heerscharen in meine Ohren ⟨geschworen⟩: Wenn nicht die vielen Häuser zur Einöde werden ⟨und⟩ die großen und schönen ohne Bewohner sind[5]! (Hi 20,21; Spr 15,27; Jes 22,14)10Denn zehn Joch Weinberge werden ⟨nur⟩ ein Bat bringen, und ein Homer Samen wird ⟨nur⟩ ein Efa[6] bringen. – (Hag 1,6)11Wehe denen, die sich früh am Morgen aufmachen, um Rauschtrank nachzujagen, die bis spät am Abend bleiben, ⟨dass⟩ der Wein sie erhitzt! (Spr 20,1; Pred 10,16; Jes 5,22)12Zither und Harfe, Tamburin und Flöte und Wein gehören zu ihrem Gelage. Aber auf das Tun des HERRN schauen sie nicht, und das Werk seiner Hände sehen sie nicht. (Ps 28,5; Jes 22,13; Am 6,4; Lk 21,34)13Darum zieht mein Volk gefangen weg aus Mangel an Erkenntnis. Seine Vornehmen[7] sind Hungerleider[8], und seine lärmende Menge ist ausgedörrt vor Durst. (Spr 10,21; Kla 4,4)14Darum sperrt der Scheol seinen Schlund[9] weit auf und reißt seinen Rachen auf ohne Maß[10]. Und hinab fährt seine[11] Pracht und sein Getümmel und sein Lärm[12] und wer darin jauchzt. (Spr 27,20; Spr 30,16)15Da wird der Mensch gebeugt und der Mann erniedrigt, und die Augen der Hochmütigen werden erniedrigt. (Jes 66,5; Jer 17,15; Am 5,18)20Wehe denen, die das Böse gut nennen und das Gute böse; die Finsternis zu Licht machen und Licht zu Finsternis; die Bitteres zu Süßem machen und Süßes zu Bitterem! (Spr 3,7; Jes 10,13)22Wehe denen, die Helden sind im Weintrinken und tapfere Männer im Mischen von Rauschtrank; (1Kön 20,16; Jes 5,11; Jes 56,12)23die den Ungerechten[14] wegen eines Bestechungsgeschenkes gerecht sprechen, den Gerechten aber ihre Gerechtigkeit absprechen[15]! (2Mo 23,6; Spr 17,23; Spr 31,5; Jes 10,2; Jes 28,7; Jes 29,21; Jes 32,7)24Darum, wie des Feuers Zunge die Stoppeln verzehrt und dürres Gras in der Flamme zusammensinkt, so wird ihre Wurzel wie Moder werden und ihre Blüte auffliegen wie Staub. Denn sie haben das Gesetz des HERRN der Heerscharen verworfen und das Wort des Heiligen Israels verschmäht. (2Mo 15,7; Hi 18,16; Jes 9,17; Jes 30,9; Jer 6,19; Am 2,4)25Darum ist der Zorn des HERRN gegen sein Volk entbrannt, und er hat seine Hand gegen sie ausgestreckt und sie geschlagen. Und die Berge erbebten, und ihre Leichen lagen wie Kehricht mitten auf den Straßen. Bei alledem hat sein Zorn sich nicht gewandt, und noch ist seine Hand ausgestreckt. Gott ruft den assyrischen Feind zum Gericht herbei
26Und er wird ein Feldzeichen aufrichten für die Nation in der Ferne[16], und er wird sie herbeipfeifen vom Ende der Erde; und siehe, eilends, schnell wird sie kommen. (5Mo 28,49; Jes 7,18; Jes 10,3; Jer 5,15)27Kein Erschöpfter und kein Stürzender ist bei ihr; nicht schlummert noch schläft sie; keinem löst sich der Gürtel[17] von seinen Lenden, ⟨und⟩ keinem zerreißt der Riemen seiner Schuhe.28Ihre Pfeile sind geschärft und all ihre Bogen gespannt, die Hufe ihrer Pferde sind Kieselsteinen gleich und ihre Räder gleich dem Wirbelwind. (Jer 47,3)29Ihr Gebrüll ist wie das einer Löwin, sie brüllt wie die Junglöwen. Und sie knurrt[18] und packt die Beute und bringt sie in Sicherheit, und kein Retter ist da. 1I will sing for the one I love a song about his vineyard: my loved one had a vineyard on a fertile hillside.2He dug it up and cleared it of stones and planted it with the choicest vines. He built a watchtower in it and cut out a winepress as well. Then he looked for a crop of good grapes, but it yielded only bad fruit.3‘Now you dwellers in Jerusalem and people of Judah, judge between me and my vineyard.4What more could have been done for my vineyard than I have done for it? When I looked for good grapes, why did it yield only bad?5Now I will tell you what I am going to do to my vineyard: I will take away its hedge, and it will be destroyed; I will break down its wall, and it will be trampled.6I will make it a wasteland, neither pruned nor cultivated, and briers and thorns will grow there. I will command the clouds not to rain on it.’7The vineyard of the Lord Almighty is the nation of Israel, and the people of Judah are the vines he delighted in. And he looked for justice, but saw bloodshed; for righteousness, but heard cries of distress.
Woes and judgments
8Woe to you who add house to house and join field to field till no space is left and you live alone in the land.9The Lord Almighty has declared in my hearing: ‘Surely the great houses will become desolate, the fine mansions left without occupants.10A ten-acre vineyard will produce only a bath[1] of wine; a homer[2] of seed will yield only an ephah[3] of grain.’11Woe to those who rise early in the morning to run after their drinks, who stay up late at night till they are inflamed with wine.12They have harps and lyres at their banquets, pipes and tambourines and wine, but they have no regard for the deeds of the Lord, no respect for the work of his hands.13Therefore my people will go into exile for lack of understanding; those of high rank will die of hunger and the common people will be parched with thirst.14Therefore Death expands its jaws, opening wide its mouth; into it will descend their nobles and masses with all their brawlers and revellers.15So people will be brought low and everyone humbled, the eyes of the arrogant humbled.16But the Lord Almighty will be exalted by his justice, and the holy God will be proved holy by his righteous acts.17Then sheep will graze as in their own pasture; lambs will feed[4] among the ruins of the rich.18Woe to those who draw sin along with cords of deceit, and wickedness as with cart ropes,19to those who say, ‘Let God hurry; let him hasten his work so that we may see it. The plan of the Holy One of Israel – let it approach, let it come into view, so that we may know it.’20Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter.21Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes and clever in their own sight.22Woe to those who are heroes at drinking wine and champions at mixing drinks,23who acquit the guilty for a bribe, but deny justice to the innocent.24Therefore, as tongues of fire lick up straw and as dry grass sinks down in the flames, so their roots will decay and their flowers blow away like dust; for they have rejected the law of the Lord Almighty and spurned the word of the Holy One of Israel.25Therefore the Lord’s anger burns against his people; his hand is raised and he strikes them down. The mountains shake, and the dead bodies are like refuse in the streets. Yet for all this, his anger is not turned away, his hand is still upraised.26He lifts up a banner for the distant nations, he whistles for those at the ends of the earth. Here they come, swiftly and speedily!27Not one of them grows tired or stumbles, not one slumbers or sleeps; not a belt is loosened at the waist, not a sandal strap is broken.28Their arrows are sharp, all their bows are strung; their horses’ hooves seem like flint, their chariot wheels like a whirlwind.29Their roar is like that of the lion, they roar like young lions; they growl as they seize their prey and carry it off with no-one to rescue.30In that day they will roar over it like the roaring of the sea.
