1Six jours avant la Pâque, Jésus arriva à Béthanie, où était Lazare, qu'il avait ressuscité des morts.2Là, on lui fit un souper; Marthe servait, et Lazare était un de ceux qui se trouvaient à table avec lui.3Marie, ayant pris une livre d'un parfum de nard pur de grand prix, oignit les pieds de Jésus, et elle lui essuya les pieds avec ses cheveux; et la maison fut remplie de l'odeur du parfum.4Un de ses disciples, Judas Iscariot, fils de Simon, celui qui devait le livrer, dit:5Pourquoi n'a-t-on pas vendu ce parfum trois cent deniers, pour les donner aux pauvres?6Il disait cela, non qu'il se mît en peine des pauvres, mais parce qu'il était voleur, et que, tenant la bourse, il prenait ce qu'on y mettait.7Mais Jésus dit: Laisse-la garder ce parfum pour le jour de ma sépulture.8Vous avez toujours les pauvres avec vous, mais vous ne m'avez pas toujours.9Une grande multitude de Juifs apprirent que Jésus était à Béthanie; et ils y vinrent, non pas seulement à cause de lui, mais aussi pour voir Lazare, qu'il avait ressuscité des morts.10Les principaux sacrificateurs délibérèrent de faire mourir aussi Lazare,11parce que beaucoup de Juifs se retiraient d'eux à cause de lui, et croyaient en Jésus.12Le lendemain, une foule nombreuse de gens venus à la fête ayant entendu dire que Jésus se rendait à Jérusalem,13prirent des branches de palmiers, et allèrent au-devant de lui, en criant: Hosanna! Béni soit celui qui vient au nom du Seigneur, le roi d'Israël!14Jésus trouva un ânon, et s'assit dessus, selon ce qui est écrit:15Ne crains point, fille de Sion; Voici, ton roi vient, Assis sur le petit d'une ânesse.16Ses disciples ne comprirent pas d'abord ces choses; mais, lorsque Jésus eut été glorifié, ils se souvinrent qu'elles étaient écrites de lui, et qu'il les avaient été accomplies à son égard.17Tous ceux qui étaient avec Jésus, quand il appela Lazare du sépulcre et le ressuscita des morts, lui rendaient témoignage;18et la foule vint au-devant de lui, parce qu'elle avait appris qu'il avait fait ce miracle.19Les pharisiens se dirent donc les uns aux autres: Vous voyez que vous ne gagnez rien; voici, le monde est allé après lui.20Quelques Grecs, du nombre de ceux qui étaient montés pour adorer pendant la fête,21s'adressèrent à Philippe, de Bethsaïda en Galilée, et lui dirent avec instance: Seigneur, nous voudrions voir Jésus.22Philippe alla le dire à André, puis André et Philippe le dirent à Jésus.23Jésus leur répondit: L'heure est venue où le Fils de l'homme doit être glorifié.24En vérité, en vérité, je vous le dis, si le grain de blé qui est tombé en terre ne meurt, il reste seul; mais, s'il meurt, il porte beaucoup de fruit.25Celui qui aime sa vie la perdra, et celui qui hait sa vie dans ce monde la conservera pour la vie éternelle.26Si quelqu'un me sert, qu'il me suive; et là où je suis, là aussi sera mon serviteur. Si quelqu'un me sert, le Père l'honorera.27Maintenant mon âme est troublée. Et que dirais-je?... Père, délivre-moi de cette heure?... Mais c'est pour cela que je suis venu jusqu'à cette heure.28Père, glorifie ton nom! Et une voix vint du ciel: Je l'ai glorifié, et je le glorifierai encore.29La foule qui était là, et qui avait entendu, disait que c'était un tonnerre. D'autres disaient: Un ange lui a parlé.30Jésus dit: Ce n'est pas à cause de moi que cette voix s'est fait entendre; c'est à cause de vous.31Maintenant a lieu le jugement de ce monde; maintenant le prince de ce monde sera jeté dehors.32Et moi, quand j'aurai été élevé de la terre, j'attirerai tous les hommes à moi.33En parlant ainsi, il indiquait de quelle mort il devait mourir. -34La foule lui répondit: Nous avons appris par la loi que le Christ demeure éternellement; comment donc dis-tu: Il faut que le Fils de l'homme soit élevé? Qui est ce Fils de l'homme?35Jésus leur dit: La lumière est encore pour un peu de temps au milieu de vous. Marchez, pendant que vous avez la lumière, afin que les ténèbres ne vous surprennent point: celui qui marche dans les ténèbres ne sait où il va.36Pendant que vous avez la lumière, croyez en la lumière, afin que vous soyez des enfants de lumière. Jésus dit ces choses, puis il s'en alla, et se cacha loin d'eux.37Malgré tant de miracles qu'il avait faits en leur présence, ils ne croyaient pas en lui,38afin que s'accomplît la parole qu'Ésaïe, le prophète, a prononcée: Seigneur, Qui a cru à notre prédication? Et à qui le bras du Seigneur a-t-il été révélé?39Aussi ne pouvaient-ils croire, parce qu'Ésaïe a dit encore:40Il a aveuglé leurs yeux; et il a endurci leur coeur, De peur qu'ils ne voient des yeux, Qu'ils ne comprennent du coeur, Qu'ils ne se convertissent, et que je ne les guérisse.41Ésaïe dit ces choses, lorsqu'il vit sa gloire, et qu'il parla de lui.42Cependant, même parmi les chefs, plusieurs crurent en lui; mais, à cause des pharisiens, ils n'en faisaient pas l'aveu, dans la crainte d'être exclus de la synagogue.43Car ils aimèrent la gloire des hommes plus que la gloire de Dieu.44Or, Jésus s'était écrié: Celui qui croit en moi croit, non pas en moi, mais en celui qui m'a envoyé;45et celui qui me voit voit celui qui m'a envoyé.46Je suis venu comme une lumière dans le monde, afin que quiconque croit en moi ne demeure pas dans les ténèbres.47Si quelqu'un entend mes paroles et ne les garde point, ce n'est pas moi qui le juge; car je suis venu non pour juger le monde, mais pour sauver le monde.48Celui qui me rejette et qui ne reçoit pas mes paroles a son juge; la parole que j'ai annoncée, c'est elle qui le jugera au dernier jour.49Car je n'ai point parlé de moi-même; mais le Père, qui m'a envoyé, m'a prescrit lui-même ce que je dois dire et annoncer.50Et je sais que son commandement est la vie éternelle. C'est pourquoi les choses que je dis, je les dis comme le Père me les a dites.

Der Einzug des Messias Jesus in Jerusalem
12Am folgenden Tag, als viele Leute, die zum Fest erschienen waren, hörten, dass Jesus nach Jerusalem komme, (Jn 11:55)13da nahmen sie Palmzweige und gingen hinaus, ihm entgegen, und riefen: Hosianna! Gepriesen sei der, welcher kommt im Namen des Herrn, der König von Israel! (Jn 18:33; Ap 7:9)14Jesus aber hatte einen jungen Esel gefunden und setzte sich darauf, wie geschrieben steht:15»Fürchte dich nicht, Tochter Zion! Siehe, dein König kommt, sitzend auf dem Füllen einer Eselin«[2]. (Jg 5:9; 1R 1:37; Za 9:9)16Dies verstanden aber seine Jünger anfangs nicht, doch als Jesus verherrlicht war, da erinnerten sie sich, dass dies von ihm geschrieben stand und dass sie ihm dies getan hatten. (Lc 18:34; Jn 7:39; Jn 14:26; Jn 17:1; Ac 3:17)17Die Menge nun, die bei ihm war, als er Lazarus aus dem Grab gerufen und ihn aus den Toten auferweckt hatte, legte Zeugnis ab. (Jn 11:42; Jn 11:48)18Darum ging ihm auch die Volksmenge entgegen, weil sie gehört hatte, dass er dieses Zeichen getan hatte.19Da sprachen die Pharisäer zueinander: Ihr seht, dass ihr nichts ausrichtet. Siehe, alle Welt läuft ihm nach! (Jn 11:47; Jn 12:9)20Es waren aber etliche Griechen unter denen, die hinaufkamen, um während des Festes anzubeten. (1R 8:41; Ac 8:27; Ac 17:4; Rm 1:16)21Diese gingen zu Philippus, der aus Bethsaida in Galiläa war, baten ihn und sprachen: Herr, wir möchten gerne Jesus sehen! (Ps 27:4; Mt 4:15; Mt 13:17; Lc 19:2; Jn 1:45; Jn 6:40; Jn 12:45)22Philippus kommt und sagt es dem Andreas, und Andreas und Philippus sagen es wiederum Jesus.
Der Messias kündigt seinen Opfertod und seine Verherrlichung an
23Jesus aber antwortete ihnen und sprach: Die Stunde ist gekommen, dass der Sohn des Menschen verherrlicht werde! (Jn 13:32)24Wahrlich, wahrlich, ich sage euch: Wenn das Weizenkorn nicht in die Erde fällt und stirbt, so bleibt es allein; wenn es aber stirbt, so bringt es viel Frucht. (Is 53:10; 1Co 15:36; He 2:14)25Wer sein Leben[3] liebt, der wird es verlieren; wer aber sein Leben in dieser Welt hasst, wird es zum ewigen Leben bewahren. (Mt 10:39; Lc 17:33)26Wenn jemand mir dienen will, so folge er mir nach; und wo ich bin, da soll auch mein Diener sein; und wenn jemand mir dient, so wird ihn [mein] Vater ehren. (1S 2:30; Pr 27:18; Jn 10:27; Jn 14:21; Ep 5:1; 1P 2:21)27Jetzt ist meine Seele erschüttert. Und was soll ich sagen? Vater, hilf mir aus dieser Stunde! Doch darum bin ich in diese Stunde gekommen. (Mt 26:38; Mc 10:45; Lc 12:50; Jn 13:1; Jn 17:1)28Vater, verherrliche deinen Namen! Da kam eine Stimme vom Himmel: Ich habe ihn verherrlicht und will ihn wiederum verherrlichen! (Is 24:15; Is 40:5; Mt 3:17; Mt 6:9; Mt 17:5; Rm 6:4; Ph 1:20; Ph 2:11)29Die Menge nun, die dabeistand und dies hörte, sagte, es habe gedonnert. Andere sagten: Ein Engel hat mit ihm geredet! (Ac 23:9)30Jesus antwortete und sprach: Nicht um meinetwillen ist diese Stimme geschehen, sondern um euretwillen. (Jn 11:42)31Jetzt ergeht ein Gericht über diese Welt. Nun wird der Fürst dieser Welt hinausgeworfen werden; (Lc 10:18; Jn 14:30; 2Co 4:4)32und ich, wenn ich von der Erde erhöht bin, werde alle zu mir ziehen. (Jn 3:14; Rm 5:18; 1Tm 2:4)33Das sagte er aber, um anzudeuten, durch welchen Tod er sterben würde. (Jn 18:32)34Die Menge antwortete ihm: Wir haben aus dem Gesetz gehört, dass der Christus in Ewigkeit bleibt; wie sagst du denn, der Sohn des Menschen müsse erhöht werden? Wer ist dieser Sohn des Menschen? (Ps 89:37; Is 9:6; Da 7:14; Mt 16:13)35Da sprach Jesus zu ihnen: Noch eine kleine Zeit ist das Licht bei euch. Wandelt, solange ihr das Licht noch habt, damit euch die Finsternis nicht überfällt! Denn wer in der Finsternis wandelt, weiß nicht, wohin er geht. (Pr 4:19; Jr 13:16; Jn 7:33; Jn 11:10; 1Jn 2:11)36Solange ihr das Licht habt, glaubt an das Licht, damit ihr Kinder des Lichtes werdet! Dies redete Jesus und ging hinweg und verbarg sich vor ihnen. (Jn 12:46; Ep 5:8)
Das Volk verharrt im Unglauben
37Obwohl er aber so viele Zeichen vor ihnen getan hatte, glaubten sie nicht an ihn; (Jn 2:23; Jn 5:36; Jn 20:30)38damit das Wort des Propheten Jesaja erfüllt würde, das er gesprochen hat: »Herr, wer hat unserer Verkündigung geglaubt, und wem ist der Arm des Herrn geoffenbart worden?«[4] (Is 53:1; Lc 16:31)39Darum konnten sie nicht glauben, denn Jesaja hat wiederum gesprochen:40»Er hat ihre Augen verblendet und ihr Herz verhärtet, damit sie nicht mit den Augen sehen, noch mit dem Herzen verstehen und sich bekehren und ich sie heile«.[5] (Ps 81:13; Is 6:10; Mt 13:15)41Dies sprach Jesaja, als er seine Herrlichkeit sah und von ihm redete. (Is 6:1)42Doch glaubten sogar von den Obersten viele an ihn, aber wegen der Pharisäer bekannten sie es nicht, damit sie nicht aus der Synagoge ausgeschlossen würden. (Lc 9:26; Jn 9:22)43Denn die Ehre der Menschen war ihnen lieber als die Ehre Gottes. (Jn 5:44)44Jesus aber rief und sprach: Wer an mich glaubt, der glaubt nicht an mich, sondern an den, der mich gesandt hat. (1P 1:21)45Und wer mich sieht, der sieht den, der mich gesandt hat. (Jn 10:30; Jn 14:9; Col 1:15)46Ich bin als ein Licht in die Welt gekommen, damit jeder, der an mich glaubt, nicht in der Finsternis bleibt. These things spake Jesus, and departed, and did hide himself from them.37But though he had done so many miracles before them, yet they believed not on him:38That the saying of Esaias the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spake, Lord, who hath believed our report? and to whom hath the arm of the Lord been revealed?39Therefore they could not believe, because that Esaias said again,40He hath blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart; that they should not see with their eyes, nor understand with their heart, and be converted, and I should heal them.41These things said Esaias, when he saw his glory, and spake of him.42Nevertheless among the chief rulers also many believed on him; but because of the Pharisees they did not confess him, lest they should be put out of the synagogue:43For they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God.44Jesus cried and said, He that believeth on me, believeth not on me, but on him that sent me.45And he that seeth me seeth him that sent me.46I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness.47And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.48He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.49For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak.50And I know that his commandment is life everlasting: whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto me, so I speak.
