1Israël partit, avec tout ce qui lui appartenait. Et Jacob se rendit en Égypte, avec toute sa famille.7Il emmena avec lui en Égypte ses fils et les fils de ses fils, ses filles et les filles de ses fils, et toute sa famille.8Voici les noms des fils d'Israël, qui vinrent en Égypte. Jacob et ses fils. Premier-né de Jacob: Ruben.9Fils de Ruben: Hénoc, Pallu, Hetsron et Carmi.10Fils de Siméon: Jemuel, Jamin, Ohad, Jakin et Tsochar; et Saul, fils de la Cananéenne.11Fils de Lévi: Guerschon, Kehath et Merari.12Fils de Juda: Er, Onan, Schéla, Pérets et Zarach; mais Er et Onan moururent au pays de Canaan. Les fils de Pérets furent Hetsron et Hamul.13Fils d'Issacar: Thola, Puva, Job et Schimron.14Fils de Zabulon: Séred, Élon et Jahleel.15Ce sont là les fils que Léa enfanta à Jacob à Paddan Aram, avec sa fille Dina. Ses fils et ses filles formaient en tout trente-trois personnes.16Fils de Gad: Tsiphjon, Haggi, Schuni, Etsbon, Éri, Arodi et Areéli.17Fils d'Aser: Jimna, Jischva, Jischvi et Beria; et Sérach, leur soeur. Et les fils de Beria: Héber et Malkiel.18Ce sont là les fils de Zilpa, que Laban avait donnée à Léa, sa fille; et elle les enfanta à Jacob. En tout, seize personnes.19Fils de Rachel, femme de Jacob: Joseph et Benjamin.20Il naquit à Joseph, au pays d'Égypte, Manassé et Éphraïm, que lui enfanta Asnath, fille de Poti Phéra, prêtre d'On.21Fils de Benjamin: Béla, Béker, Aschbel, Guéra, Naaman, Éhi, Rosch, Muppim, Huppim et Ard.22Ce sont là les fils de Rachel, qui naquirent à Jacob. En tout, quatorze personnes.23Fils de Dan: Huschim.24Fils de Nephthali: Jathtseel, Guni, Jetser et Schillem.25Ce sont là les fils de Bilha, que Laban avait donnée à Rachel, sa fille; et elle les enfanta à Jacob. En tout, sept personnes.26Les personnes qui vinrent avec Jacob en Égypte, et qui étaient issues de lui, étaient au nombre de soixante-six en tout, sans compter les femmes des fils de Jacob.27Et Joseph avait deux fils qui lui étaient nés en Égypte. Le total des personnes de la famille de Jacob qui vinrent en Égypte était de soixante-dix.28Jacob envoya Juda devant lui vers Joseph, pour l'informer qu'il se rendait en Gosen.29Joseph attela son char et y monta, pour aller en Gosen, à la rencontre d'Israël, son père. Dès qu'il le vit, il se jeta à son cou, et pleura longtemps sur son cou.30Israël dit à Joseph: Que je meure maintenant, puisque j'ai vu ton visage et que tu vis encore!31Joseph dit à ses frères et à la famille de son père: Je vais avertir Pharaon, et je lui dirai: Mes frères et la famille de mon père, qui étaient au pays de Canaan, sont arrivés auprès de moi.32Ces hommes sont bergers, car ils élèvent des troupeaux; ils ont amené leurs brebis et leurs boeufs, et tout ce qui leur appartient.33Et quand Pharaon vous appellera, et dira:34Quelle est votre occupation? vous répondrez: Tes serviteurs ont élevé des troupeaux, depuis notre jeunesse jusqu'à présent, nous et nos pères. De cette manière, vous habiterez dans le pays de Gosen, car tous les bergers sont en abomination aux Égyptiens.

Josef wird bei dir sein und dir die Augen zudrücken, wenn du stirbst.«5Danach ließen Jakobs Söhne ihn und ihre Familien in die Wagen steigen, die sie vom Pharao bekommen hatten.6-7Ihr Vieh und ihren Besitz nahmen sie mit. So erreichte Jakob mit allen Verwandten Ägypten.8Es folgt das Verzeichnis der Familie Jakobs, die mit ihm nach Ägypten zog. Nachkommen von Jakob und Lea: Ruben, der Erstgeborene,9und seine Söhne Henoch, Pallu, Hezron und Karmi;10Simeon und seine Söhne Jemuël, Jamin, Ohad, Jachin, Zohar und Schaul; Schauls Mutter war eine Kanaaniterin;11Levi und seine Söhne Gerschon, Kehat und Merari;12Juda und seine Söhne Er, Onan, Schela, Perez und Serach; Er und Onan waren schon in Kanaan gestorben; Perez hatte zwei Söhne: Hezron und Hamul;13Issachar und seine Söhne Tola, Puwa, Jaschub und Schimron;14Sebulon und seine Söhne Sered, Elon und Jachleel.15Zusammen ergibt das 33 Nachkommen von Jakob und Lea, darunter auch ihre Tochter Dina.16-18Nachkommen von Jakob und der Magd Silpa, die Laban damals seiner Tochter Lea gegeben hatte: Gad und seine Söhne Zifjon, Haggi, Schuni, Ezbon, Eri, Arod und Areli; Asser und seine Söhne Jimna, Jischwa, Jischwi und Beria sowie seine Tochter Serach; Beria hatte zwei Söhne: Heber und Malkiël. Zusammen ergibt das 16 Nachkommen von Jakob und Silpa.19-22Nachkommen von Jakob und seiner Frau Rahel: Josef und seine Söhne Manasse und Ephraim. Sie wurden ihm in Ägypten von Asenat geboren. Asenat war die Tochter Potiferas, des Priesters von On. Benjamin und seine Söhne Bela, Becher, Aschbel, Gera, Naaman, Ehi, Rosch, Muppim, Huppim und Ard. Zusammen ergibt das 14 Nachkommen von Jakob und Rahel.23-25Nachkommen von Jakob und der Magd Bilha, die Laban damals seiner Tochter Rahel mitgegeben hatte: Dan und sein Sohn Schuham; Naftali und seine Söhne Jachzeel, Guni, Jezer und Schillem. Zusammen ergibt das 7 Nachkommen von Jakob und Bilha.26Insgesamt zogen 66 leibliche Kinder und Enkel mit Jakob nach Ägypten – dazu noch die Frauen seiner Söhne.27Zählt man Jakob selbst, Josef und dessen zwei Söhne hinzu, die ihm in Ägypten geboren wurden, so kamen 70 Familienangehörige nach Ägypten.[1]
Das Wiedersehen
28Jakob schickte Juda voraus. Er sollte Josef ausrichten, dass sie nach Goschen ziehen würden.29Josef ließ sofort seinen Wagen anspannen und fuhr ihnen entgegen. Er fiel seinem Vater um den Hals und weinte lange.30Jakob sagte: »Jetzt bin ich bereit zu sterben! Ich habe dich gesehen und weiß, dass du lebst!«31Josef wandte sich an die ganze Familie: »Ich gehe zum Pharao und erzähle ihm, dass ihr von Kanaan hierhergekommen seid.32Ich sage ihm: ›Diese Männer sind Viehhirten. Sie haben ihre Rinder, Schafe und Ziegen sowie ihren ganzen Besitz mitgebracht!‹33Wenn der Pharao euch nach eurem Beruf fragt,34dann antwortet: ›Schon seit vielen Generationen sind wir Viehhirten.‹ Wenn ihr ihm das sagt, wird er euch sicher hier in Goschen wohnen lassen. Die Ägypter wollen nämlich mit Viehhirten nichts zu tun haben, dieser Beruf ist bei ihnen verachtet.«

And Joseph’s own hand will close your eyes.’5Then Jacob left Beersheba, and Israel’s sons took their father Jacob and their children and their wives in the carts that Pharaoh had sent to transport him.6So Jacob and all his offspring went to Egypt, taking with them their livestock and the possessions they had acquired in Canaan.7Jacob brought with him to Egypt his sons and grandsons and his daughters and granddaughters – all his offspring.8These are the names of the sons of Israel (Jacob and his descendants) who went to Egypt: Reuben the firstborn of Jacob.9The sons of Reuben: Hanok, Pallu, Hezron and Karmi.10The sons of Simeon: Jemuel, Jamin, Ohad, Jakin, Zohar and Shaul the son of a Canaanite woman.11The sons of Levi: Gershon, Kohath and Merari.12The sons of Judah: Er, Onan, Shelah, Perez and Zerah (but Er and Onan had died in the land of Canaan). These sons and daughters of his were thirty-three in all.16The sons of Gad: Zephon,[4] Haggi, Shuni, Ezbon, Eri, Arodi and Areli. (Nb 26:15)17The sons of Asher: Imnah, Ishvah, Ishvi and Beriah. Their sister was Serah. The sons of Beriah: Heber and Malkiel.18These were the children born to Jacob by Zilpah, whom Laban had given to his daughter Leah – sixteen in all.19The sons of Jacob’s wife Rachel: Joseph and Benjamin.20In Egypt, Manasseh and Ephraim were born to Joseph by Asenath daughter of Potiphera, priest of On.[5]21The sons of Benjamin: Bela, Beker, Ashbel, Gera, Naaman, Ehi, Rosh, Muppim, Huppim and Ard.22These were the sons of Rachel who were born to Jacob – fourteen in all.23The son of Dan: Hushim.24The sons of Naphtali: Jahziel, Guni, Jezer and Shillem.25These were the sons born to Jacob by Bilhah, whom Laban had given to his daughter Rachel – seven in all.26All those who went to Egypt with Jacob – those who were his direct descendants, not counting his sons’ wives – numbered sixty-six persons.27With the two sons[6] who had been born to Joseph in Egypt, the members of Jacob’s family, which went to Egypt, were seventy[7] in all. (Ex 1:5; Ac 7:14)28Now Jacob sent Judah ahead of him to Joseph to get directions to Goshen. When they arrived in the region of Goshen,29Joseph had his chariot made ready and went to Goshen to meet his father Israel. As soon as Joseph appeared before him, he threw his arms around his father[8] and wept for a long time.30Israel said to Joseph, ‘Now I am ready to die, since I have seen for myself that you are still alive.’31Then Joseph said to his brothers and to his father’s household, ‘I will go up and speak to Pharaoh and will say to him, “My brothers and my father’s household, who were living in the land of Canaan, have come to me.32The men are shepherds; they tend livestock, and they have brought along their flocks and herds and everything they own.”33When Pharaoh calls you in and asks, “What is your occupation?”34you should answer, “Your servants have tended livestock from our boyhood on, just as our fathers did.” Then you will be allowed to settle in the region of Goshen, for all shepherds are detestable to the Egyptians.’
