1Then answered Zophar the Naamathite, and said,2Should not the multitude of words be answered? and should a man full of talk be justified?3Should thy lies make men hold their peace? and when thou mockest, shall no man make thee ashamed?4For thou hast said, My doctrine is pure, and I am clean in thine eyes.5But oh that God would speak, and open his lips against thee;6And that he would shew thee the secrets of wisdom, that they are double to that which is! Know therefore that God exacteth of thee less than thine iniquity deserveth .7Canst thou by searching find out God? canst thou find out the Almighty unto perfection?8It is as high as heaven; what canst thou do? deeper than hell; what canst thou know?9The measure thereof is longer than the earth, and broader than the sea.10If he cut off, and shut up, or gather together, then who can hinder him?11For he knoweth vain men: he seeth wickedness also; will he not then consider it ?12For vain man would be wise, though man be born like a wild ass' colt.13If thou prepare thine heart, and stretch out thine hands toward him;14If iniquity be in thine hand, put it far away, and let not wickedness dwell in thy tabernacles.15For then shalt thou lift up thy face without spot; yea, thou shalt be stedfast, and shalt not fear:16Because thou shalt forget thy misery, and remember it as waters that pass away:17And thine age shall be clearer than the noonday; thou shalt shine forth, thou shalt be as the morning.18And thou shalt be secure, because there is hope; yea, thou shalt dig about thee, and thou shalt take thy rest in safety.19Also thou shalt lie down, and none shall make thee afraid; yea, many shall make suit unto thee.20But the eyes of the wicked shall fail, and they shall not escape, and their hope shall be as the giving up of the ghost.

(Ps 36:6; 1Co 13:12)9Ihre Ausdehnung ist größer als die Erde und breiter als das Meer. (Job 28:23; Ps 65:6; Ps 139:9)10Wenn Er einherfährt, kann er verhaften und vor Gericht stellen — wer will es ihm wehren? (Job 9:32; Job 22:4; Isa 14:27; Da 4:34; Re 9:12)11Denn er kennt die nichtswürdigen Leute und sieht auch die Schuld, ohne dass er [darauf] achthaben muss. (Ps 33:13; Jer 17:9)12Kann ein Hohlkopf Verstand gewinnen, und ein Eselhengst als Mensch geboren werden? (Job 39:5; Ps 94:8; Ps 94:11; 1Co 2:14; Eph 4:18)13Wenn du nun dein Herz fest ausrichtest und zu ihm deine Hände ausstreckst (1Sa 7:3; Job 5:8; Job 22:21; Ps 88:10; Isa 26:4; La 3:41)14— wenn Unrecht an deinen Händen ist, so entferne es, und lass in deinen Zelten nichts Böses wohnen! (Ps 101:3; Ps 101:7; Isa 1:16; Jas 4:8)15Ja, dann darfst du ohne Scheu dein Angesicht erheben und fest auftreten ohne Furcht; (Job 22:26; Ps 112:7; Ps 119:6; Pr 3:23; 1Jo 3:21)16dann wirst du deine Mühsal vergessen, wie man das Wasser vergisst, das vorübergeflossen ist. (Ge 41:51; Ec 5:19; Isa 65:16)17Heller als der Mittag wird dein Leben dir aufgehen; das Dunkel wird wie der Morgen sein. (Ps 97:11; Ps 112:4; Pr 4:18; Isa 58:8)18Dann wirst du getrost sein, weil es Hoffnung gibt, und wirst um dich blicken und in Sicherheit dich niederlegen. (Le 26:6; Ps 4:9; Pr 14:32; Eze 34:28)19Du legst dich zur Ruhe, und niemand schreckt dich auf, und viele werden dann deine Gunst suchen. (Ge 26:28; Job 11:18)20Aber die Augen der Gottlosen verschmachten, [ihre] Zuflucht geht ihnen verloren, und ihre Hoffnung ist das Aushauchen der Seele! (Job 6:8; Pr 10:24; Pr 14:32; Pr 20:20; La 4:17)
