1And in the seventh year Jehoiada strengthened himself, and took the captains of hundreds, Azariah the son of Jeroham, and Ishmael the son of Jehohanan, and Azariah the son of Obed, and Maaseiah the son of Adaiah, and Elishaphat the son of Zichri, into covenant with him.2And they went about in Judah, and gathered the Levites out of all the cities of Judah, and the chief of the fathers of Israel, and they came to Jerusalem.3And all the congregation made a covenant with the king in the house of God. And he said unto them, Behold, the king' son shall reign, as the LORD hath said of the sons of David.4This is the thing that ye shall do; A third part of you entering on the sabbath, of the priests and of the Levites, shall be porters of the doors;5And a third part shall be at the king' house; and a third part at the gate of the foundation: and all the people shall be in the courts of the house of the LORD.6But let none come into the house of the LORD, save the priests, and they that minister of the Levites; they shall go in, for they are holy: but all the people shall keep the watch of the LORD.7And the Levites shall compass the king round about, every man with his weapons in his hand; and whosoever else cometh into the house, he shall be put to death: but be ye with the king when he cometh in, and when he goeth out.8So the Levites and all Judah did according to all things that Jehoiada the priest had commanded, and took every man his men that were to come in on the sabbath, with them that were to go out on the sabbath: for Jehoiada the priest dismissed not the courses.9Moreover Jehoiada the priest delivered to the captains of hundreds spears, and bucklers, and shields, that had been king David', which were in the house of God.10And he set all the people, every man having his weapon in his hand, from the right side of the temple to the left side of the temple, along by the altar and the temple, by the king round about.11Then they brought out the king' son, and put upon him the crown, and gave him the testimony, and made him king. And Jehoiada and his sons anointed him, and said, God save the king.12Now when Athaliah heard the noise of the people running and praising the king, she came to the people into the house of the LORD:13And she looked, and, behold, the king stood at his pillar at the entering in, and the princes and the trumpets by the king: and all the people of the land rejoiced, and sounded with trumpets, also the singers with instruments of musick, and such as taught to sing praise. Then Athaliah rent her clothes, and said, Treason, Treason.14Then Jehoiada the priest brought out the captains of hundreds that were set over the host, and said unto them, Have her forth of the ranges: and whoso followeth her, let him be slain with the sword. For the priest said, Slay her not in the house of the LORD.15So they laid hands on her; and when she was come to the entering of the horse gate by the king' house, they slew her there.16And Jehoiada made a covenant between him, and between all the people, and between the king, that they should be the LORD' people.17Then all the people went to the house of Baal, and brake it down, and brake his altars and his images in pieces, and slew Mattan the priest of Baal before the altars.18Also Jehoiada appointed the offices of the house of the LORD by the hand of the priests the Levites, whom David had distributed in the house of the LORD, to offer the burnt offerings of the LORD, as it is written in the law of Moses, with rejoicing and with singing, as it was ordained by David.19And he set the porters at the gates of the house of the LORD, that none which was unclean in any thing should enter in.20And he took the captains of hundreds, and the nobles, and the governors of the people, and all the people of the land, and brought down the king from the house of the LORD: and they came through the high gate into the king' house, and set the king upon the throne of the kingdom.21And all the people of the land rejoiced: and the city was quiet, after that they had slain Athaliah with the sword.
Joas wird vom Priester Jojada als König von Juda eingesetzt

(1Ch 15:12; 1Ch 24:6; 2Ch 11:13; 2Ch 17:9; Mt 10:16; Joh 7:1; Ac 10:38)3Und diese ganze Versammlung machte im Haus Gottes einen Bund mit dem König. Und [Jojada] sprach zu ihnen: Siehe, der Sohn des Königs soll König sein, so wie der HERR es den Söhnen Davids zugesagt hat! (2Sa 7:12; 1Ki 8:25; 1Ki 9:5; 2Ki 11:4; Ps 89:29; Ps 89:36)4Das ist es, was ihr tun sollt: Ein Drittel von euch Priestern und Leviten, die ihr am Sabbat antretet, soll als Türhüter an der Schwelle dienen, (1Ch 9:25; 1Ch 26:12; Lu 1:8)5und ein Drittel im Haus des Königs und ein Drittel am Grundtor, während das ganze Volk in den Vorhöfen vor dem Haus des HERRN ist. (2Ki 11:5)6Es soll aber niemand in das Haus des HERRN gehen; nur die Priester und die diensttuenden Leviten dürfen hineingehen, denn sie sind heilig; aber das ganze Volk soll die Vorschrift des HERRN befolgen! (1Ch 23:28)7Und die Leviten sollen den König umringen, jeder mit seiner Waffe in der Hand; und wer in das Haus eindringt, soll getötet werden. Ihr aber sollt bei dem König sein, wenn er aus- und eingeht! (Nu 3:10; Nu 3:38)8Und die Leviten und ganz Juda handelten genau nach dem Befehl des Priesters Jojada; und jeder nahm seine Leute, die am Sabbat antraten, samt denen, die am Sabbat abtraten. Denn der Priester Jojada hatte die Abteilungen nicht entlassen. (1Ch 24:1)9Und der Priester Jojada gab den Obersten über die Hundertschaften Speere und Schilde und die Köcher, die dem König David gehört hatten, und die im Haus Gottes waren, (2Sa 8:7)10und er stellte das ganze Kriegsvolk, jeden mit seiner Waffe in der Hand, von der rechten Seite des Hauses bis zur linken Seite, bei dem Altar und bei dem Haus, rings um den König her auf. (Ex 40:6; 2Ki 11:11; 2Ch 4:1; 2Ch 7:9; 2Ch 8:12; 2Ch 15:8; Ezr 7:17; Isa 54:17; Ro 13:12; Eph 6:10)11Da führten sie den Sohn des Königs heraus und setzten ihm die Krone auf und gaben ihm das Zeugnis[1] und machten ihn zum König. Und Jojada und seine Söhne salbten ihn und sprachen: Es lebe der König! (De 17:18; 1Sa 10:1; 1Sa 16:13; 2Sa 1:10; Ps 78:5; Ps 89:21; Heb 2:9; Jas 1:12)12Als aber Athalja das Geschrei des Volkes hörte, das herbeilief und den König lobte, kam sie zu dem Volk in das Haus des HERRN. (2Ki 9:30; 2Ki 11:13)13Und sie schaute, und siehe, der König stand auf seinem Podium beim Eingang, und die Obersten und die Trompeter bei dem König, und das ganze Volk des Landes war fröhlich und stieß in die Trompeten, und die Sänger waren da mit den Musikinstrumenten und leiteten den Lobgesang. Da zerriss Athalja ihre Kleider und schrie: Verrat! Verrat! (1Ki 1:40; 1Ch 25:6; Pr 11:10; Pr 11:13; Pr 29:2; Jer 9:3; Mt 10:4; Mt 26:48; Mt 27:3)14Aber Jojada, der Priester, ließ die Obersten über die Hundertschaften, die über das Heer gesetzt waren, hinausgehen und sprach zu ihnen: Führt sie hinaus, zwischen den Reihen hindurch, und wer ihr nachfolgt, den soll man mit dem Schwert töten! Denn der Priester hatte gesagt: Ihr sollt sie nicht im Haus des HERRN töten! (Ex 21:14; 2Ki 11:15)15Und sie legten Hand an sie. Und als sie zum Eingang des Rosstors am Haus des Königs kam, tötete man sie dort. (Nu 35:33; Jud 1:7; Ne 3:28; Ps 55:23; Jer 31:40; Mt 7:2)16Und Jojada machte einen Bund mit dem ganzen Volk und mit dem König, dass sie das Volk des HERRN sein sollten. (De 29:1; 2Ki 11:17; Isa 44:5)17Da ging das ganze Volk zum Baalstempel und zerstörte ihn, und auch seine Altäre und seine Bilder zertrümmerten sie und töteten Mattan, den Baalspriester, vor den Altären. (1Ki 18:40; 2Ki 10:25; 2Ki 11:18)18Und Jojada legte die Ämter im Haus des HERRN in die Hand der Priester und Leviten, die David über das Haus des HERRN eingeteilt hatte, um dem HERRN Brandopfer darzubringen, wie es im Gesetz Moses geschrieben steht, mit Freuden und Gesang, nach der Verordnung Davids. (Nu 28:1; 1Ch 23:1; 1Ch 25:1)19Und er stellte Torhüter an die Tore des Hauses des HERRN, damit niemand hineinkäme, der irgendwie unrein wäre. (Nu 5:2; 1Ch 26:1; Ps 24:3)20Und er nahm die Obersten über die Hundertschaften und die Vornehmen und Herrscher über das Volk, auch das ganze Volk des Landes, und führte den König aus dem Haus des HERRN hinab; und sie kamen durch das obere Tor in das Haus des Königs und setzten den König auf den Thron des Königreiches. (1Ch 29:23)21Und das ganze Volk des Landes freute sich, und die Stadt hatte Ruhe. Athalja aber hatten sie mit dem Schwert getötet. (Ps 58:11; Re 18:20; Re 19:1)
