1 Now the feast of unleavened bread drew nigh, which is called the Passover. 2 And the chief priests and scribes sought how they might kill him; for they feared the people. 3 Then entered Satan into Judas surnamed Iscariot, being of the number of the twelve. 4 And he went his way, and communed with the chief priests and captains, how he might betray him unto them. 5 And they were glad, and covenanted to give him money. 6 And he promised, and sought opportunity to betray him unto them in the absence of the multitude. 7 Then came the day of unleavened bread, when the passover must be killed. 8 And he sent Peter and John, saying, Go and prepare us the passover, that we may eat. 9 And they said unto him, Where wilt thou that we prepare? 10 And he said unto them, Behold, when ye are entered into the city, there shall a man meet you, bearing a pitcher of water; follow him into the house where he entereth in. 11 And ye shall say unto the goodman of the house, The Master saith unto thee, Where is the guestchamber, where I shall eat the passover with my disciples? 12 And he shall shew you a large upper room furnished: there make ready. 13 And they went, and found as he had said unto them: and they made ready the passover. 14 And when the hour was come, he sat down, and the twelve apostles with him. 15 And he said unto them, With desire I have desired to eat this passover with you before I suffer: 16 For I say unto you, I will not any more eat thereof, until it be fulfilled in the kingdom of God. 17 And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and said, Take this, and divide it among yourselves: 18 For I say unto you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine, until the kingdom of God shall come. 19 And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me. 20 Likewise also the cup after supper, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood, which is shed for you. 21 But, behold, the hand of him that betrayeth me is with me on the table. 22 And truly the Son of man goeth, as it was determined: but woe unto that man by whom he is betrayed! 23 And they began to enquire among themselves, which of them it was that should do this thing. 24 And there was also a strife among them, which of them should be accounted the greatest. 25 And he said unto them, The kings of the Gentiles exercise lordship over them; and they that exercise authority upon them are called benefactors. 26 But ye shall not be so: but he that is greatest among you, let him be as the younger; and he that is chief, as he that doth serve. 27 For whether is greater, he that sitteth at meat, or he that serveth? is not he that sitteth at meat? but I am among you as he that serveth. 28 Ye are they which have continued with me in my temptations. 29 And I appoint unto you a kingdom, as my Father hath appointed unto me; 30 That ye may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom, and sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel. 31 And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat: 32 But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren. 33 And he said unto him, Lord, I am ready to go with thee, both into prison, and to death. 34 And he said, I tell thee, Peter, the cock shall not crow this day, before that thou shalt thrice deny that thou knowest me. 35 And he said unto them, When I sent you without purse, and scrip, and shoes, lacked ye any thing? And they said, Nothing. 36 Then said he unto them, But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise his scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one. 37 For I say unto you, that this that is written must yet be accomplished in me, And he was reckoned among the transgressors: for the things concerning me have an end. 38 And they said, Lord, behold, here are two swords. And he said unto them, It is enough. 39 And he came out, and went, as he was wont, to the mount of Olives; and his disciples also followed him. 40 And when he was at the place, he said unto them, Pray that ye enter not into temptation. 41 And he was withdrawn from them about a stone's cast, and kneeled down, and prayed, 42 Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done. 43 And there appeared an angel unto him from heaven, strengthening him. 44 And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground. 45 And when he rose up from prayer, and was come to his disciples, he found them sleeping for sorrow, 46 And said unto them, Why sleep ye? rise and pray, lest ye enter into temptation. 47 And while he yet spake, behold a multitude, and he that was called Judas, one of the twelve, went before them, and drew near unto Jesus to kiss him. 48 But Jesus said unto him, Judas, betrayest thou the Son of man with a kiss? 49 When they which were about him saw what would follow, they said unto him, Lord, shall we smite with the sword? 50 And one of them smote the servant of the high priest, and cut off his right ear. 51 And Jesus answered and said, Suffer ye thus far. And he touched his ear, and healed him. 52 Then Jesus said unto the chief priests, and captains of the temple, and the elders, which were come to him, Be ye come out, as against a thief, with swords and staves? 53 When I was daily with you in the temple, ye stretched forth no hands against me: but this is your hour, and the power of darkness. 54 Then took they him, and led him, and brought him into the high priest's house. And Peter followed afar off. 55 And when they had kindled a fire in the midst of the hall, and were set down together, Peter sat down among them. 56 But a certain maid beheld him as he sat by the fire, and earnestly looked upon him, and said, This man was also with him. 57 And he denied him, saying, Woman, I know him not. 58 And after a little while another saw him, and said, Thou art also of them. And Peter said, Man, I am not. 59 And about the space of one hour after another confidently affirmed, saying, Of a truth this fellow also was with him: for he is a Galilaean. 60 And Peter said, Man, I know not what thou sayest. And immediately, while he yet spake, the cock crew. 61 And the Lord turned, and looked upon Peter. And Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how he had said unto him, Before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice. 62 And Peter went out, and wept bitterly. 63 And the men that held Jesus mocked him, and smote him. 64 And when they had blindfolded him, they struck him on the face, and asked him, saying, Prophesy, who is it that smote thee? 65 And many other things blasphemously spake they against him. 66 And as soon as it was day, the elders of the people and the chief priests and the scribes came together, and led him into their council, saying, 67 Art thou the Christ? tell us. And he said unto them, If I tell you, ye will not believe: 68 And if I also ask you, ye will not answer me, nor let me go. 69 Hereafter shall the Son of man sit on the right hand of the power of God. 70 Then said they all, Art thou then the Son of God? And he said unto them, Ye say that I am. 71 And they said, What need we any further witness? for we ourselves have heard of his own mouth.

1 Das Fest der ungesäuerten Brote, das man auch Passa nennt, stand unmittelbar bevor. 2 Die Hohen Priester und die Gesetzeslehrer suchten nach einer Gelegenheit, Jesus umbringen zu können. Sie wollten das aber heimlich tun, weil sie das Volk fürchteten. 3 Da fuhr der Satan in Judas, der zu den zwölf Jüngern gehörte und Iskariot genannt wurde. 4 Er ging zu den Hohen Priestern und den Hauptleuten ‹der Tempelwache› und machte ihnen einen Vorschlag, wie er Jesus an sie ausliefern könnte. 5 Sie freuten sich und versprachen ihm eine Geldsumme als Belohnung. 6 Judas war einverstanden und suchte von da an nach einer günstigen Gelegenheit, Jesus an sie auszuliefern, ohne dass das Volk etwas merkte. 7 Es kam nun der erste Tag vom Fest der ungesäuerten Brote, an dem das Passalamm geschlachtet werden musste. 8 Jesus schickte Petrus und Johannes in die Stadt. „Geht und bereitet das Passamahl für uns vor!“, sagte er. 9 „Wo sollen wir das tun?“, fragten sie. 10 „Hört zu! Wenn ihr in die Stadt kommt, werdet ihr einen Mann sehen, der einen Wasserkrug trägt. Folgt ihm in das Haus, in das er hineingeht, 11 und sagt dort zu dem Hausherrn: 'Der Rabbi lässt fragen, wo der Raum ist, in dem er mit seinen Jüngern das Passa feiern kann.' 12 Er wird euch einen großen, mit Polstern ausgelegten Raum im Obergeschoss zeigen. Dort bereitet alles für uns vor!“ 13 Die beiden Jünger machten sich auf den Weg und fanden alles genauso, wie Jesus es ihnen gesagt hatte, und bereiteten das Passa vor. 14 Als es dann so weit war, legte sich Jesus mit den Aposteln zu Tisch 15 und sagte: „Ich habe mich sehr nach diesem Passamahl mit euch gesehnt, bevor ich leiden muss. 16 Denn ich sage euch: Ich werde nicht mehr davon essen, bis es im Reich Gottes seine ganze Erfüllung findet.“ 17 Dann nahm er einen Kelch, sprach das Dankgebet und sagte: „Nehmt ihn und trinkt alle daraus! 18 Denn ich sage euch: Bis zu dem Tag, an dem Gott seine Herrschaft aufrichtet, werde ich keinen Wein mehr trinken.“ 19 Jesus nahm dann ein Fladenbrot und dankte Gott. Er brach es, reichte es den Jüngern und sagte: „Das ist mein Leib, der für euch hingegeben wird. Tut dies als Erinnerung an mich!“ 20 Ebenso nahm er den Kelch nach dem Essen und sagte: „Dieser Kelch ist der neue Bund, der sich gründet auf mein Blut, das für euch vergossen wird. 21 Doch wisst, der Verräter hat seine Hand mit mir auf dem Tisch.[1] (Mt 26:23; Mr 14:20) 22 Der Menschensohn geht zwar den Weg, der ihm bestimmt ist, aber wehe dem Menschen, der ihn ausliefern wird!“ 23 Da fingen die Jünger an, sich gegenseitig zu fragen, wer von ihnen wohl so etwas tun würde. 24 Es kam aber auch zu einem Streit unter den Jüngern, wer von ihnen als Größter gelten könne. 25 Da sagte Jesus: „In der Welt herrschen die Könige über ihre Völker, und die Mächtigen lassen sich Wohltäter nennen. 26 Doch bei euch soll es nicht so sein. Im Gegenteil: Der Größte unter euch soll so wie der Geringste sein, und der Führende so wie der Dienende. 27 Wer ist denn größer: der, der zu Tisch liegt, oder der, der ihn bedient? Natürlich der am Tisch! Aber ich bin unter euch wie der Dienende. 28 Doch ihr seid in allem, was ich durchmachen musste, treu bei mir geblieben. 29 Dafür werde ich euch an der Herrschaft beteiligen, die mir mein Vater übertragen hat. 30 Ihr werdet in meinem Reich an meinem Tisch essen und trinken und auf Thronen sitzen, um die zwölf Stämme Israels zu richten.“ 31 Dann sagte der Herr: „Simon, Simon, der Satan hat euch haben wollen, um euch durchsieben zu können wie den Weizen. 32 Doch ich habe für dich gebetet, dass du deinen Glauben nicht verlierst. Wenn du also später umgekehrt und zurechtgekommen bist, stärke den Glauben deiner Brüder!“ 33 „Herr“, sagte Petrus, „ich bin bereit, mit dir ins Gefängnis und sogar in den Tod zu gehen.“ 34 Doch Jesus erwiderte: „Ich sage dir, Petrus: Noch heute Nacht, bevor der Hahn kräht, wirst du dreimal geleugnet haben, mich überhaupt zu kennen.“ 35 Dann fragte Jesus die Jünger: „Als ich euch ohne Geldbeutel, Vorratstasche und Sandalen aussandte, habt ihr da etwas entbehren müssen?“ – „Nein, gar nichts“, antworteten sie. 36 „Aber jetzt“, sagte er, „nehmt Geldbeutel und Vorratstasche mit, wenn ihr sie habt. Und wer nichts davon hat, soll seinen Mantel verkaufen und sich ein Schwert kaufen. 37 Denn das sage ich euch: Auch dieses Schriftwort muss sich noch an mir erfüllen: 'Er wurde unter die Verbrecher gezählt.' Und das trifft jetzt ein.“ (Isa 53:12) 38 Die Jünger sagten: „Herr, hier sind zwei Schwerter.“ – „Das genügt“, sagte er. 39 Dann verließ er die Stadt und ging wie gewohnt zum Ölberg. Die Jünger folgten ihm. 40 Als er dort war, sagte er zu seinen Jüngern: „Betet darum, dass ihr nicht in Versuchung geratet.“ 41 Dann zog er sich ungefähr einen Steinwurf weit von den Jüngern zurück. Er kniete sich hin und betete: 42 „Vater, wenn du willst, nimm diesen Kelch von mir weg! Doch nicht mein Wille soll geschehen, sondern der deine.“ 43 Da erschien ihm ein Engel vom Himmel und stärkte ihn. 44 Jesus betete mit solcher Anspannung, dass sein Schweiß wie Blut auf den Erdboden tropfte. 45 Als er vom Gebet aufstand und wieder zu den Jüngern kam, fand er sie vor Kummer eingeschlafen. 46 „Wie könnt ihr nur schlafen?“, sagte er. „Steht auf und betet, damit ihr nicht in Versuchung kommt!“ 47 Kaum hatte er das gesagt, tauchte eine große Schar von Männern auf, an ihrer Spitze Judas, einer der Zwölf. Er ging auf Jesus zu und wollte ihn mit einem Kuss begrüßen. 48 „Judas“, sagte Jesus zu ihm, „mit einem Kuss verrätst du den Menschensohn?“ 49 Als die, die bei Jesus waren, merkten, in welcher Absicht die Männer gekommen waren, fragten sie: „Herr, sollen wir kämpfen? Wir haben die Schwerter dabei.“ 50 Einer von ihnen ging auch gleich auf den Sklaven des Hohen Priesters los und schlug ihm das rechte Ohr ab. 51 Aber Jesus rief: „Hört auf damit!“ Er berührte das Ohr und heilte den Mann. 52 Zu den Hohen Priestern, den Hauptleuten der Tempelwache und den Ältesten, die gegen ihn angerückt waren, sagte er: „Bin ich denn ein Verbrecher, dass ihr mit Schwertern und Knüppeln auszieht, um mich zu verhaften? 53 Ich war doch täglich bei euch im Tempel. Da habt ihr mich nicht festgenommen. Aber das ist eure Stunde und die der Finsternismacht.“ 54 Sie packten Jesus, führten ihn ab und brachten ihn in den Palast des Hohen Priesters. Petrus folgte ihnen mit großem Abstand. 55 In der Mitte des Innenhofs brannte ein Feuer, um das herum sich einige hingesetzt hatten. Petrus setzte sich mitten unter sie. 56 Eine Dienerin bemerkte ihn im Schein des Feuers, blickte ihn scharf an und sagte: „Der da war auch mit ihm zusammen!“ 57 Aber Petrus stritt es ab: „Frau, den Mann kenne ich gar nicht!“ 58 Kurz danach schaute ihn jemand anderes an und sagte: „Du musst auch einer von ihnen sein.“ – „Mensch!“, sagte Petrus. „Das stimmt nicht.“ 59 Etwa eine Stunde später behauptete ein Dritter: „Natürlich war der mit ihm zusammen, er ist ja auch ein Galiläer!“ 60 Aber Petrus wehrte ab: „Ich weiß gar nicht, wovon du redest, Mensch!“ In diesem Augenblick, noch während Petrus redete, krähte der Hahn. 61 Der Herr wandte sich um und blickte Petrus an. Da erinnerte sich Petrus an das, was der Herr zu ihm gesagt hatte: „Bevor der Hahn heute kräht, wirst du mich dreimal verleugnen.“ 62 Und er ging hinaus und fing an, bitterlich zu weinen. 63 Die Männer, die Jesus bewachten, trieben ihren Spott mit ihm und schlugen ihn. 64 Sie verhüllten sein Gesicht und sagten: „Du bist ja ein Prophet. Sag uns doch, wer dich geschlagen hat!“ 65 Viele solcher Schmähungen brachten sie gegen ihn vor. 66 Als es Tag wurde, versammelten sich die Ältesten des Volkes, die Hohen Priester und die Gesetzeslehrer, die zum Hohen Rat gehörten, zu einer Sitzung. Sie ließen Jesus vorführen 67 und forderten ihn auf: „Wenn du der Messias bist, dann sag es uns!“ Jesus erwiderte: „Wenn ich es euch sage, so würdet ihr mir doch nicht glauben, 68 und wenn ich euch frage, antwortet ihr ja nicht. 69 Doch von jetzt an wird der Menschensohn an der rechten Seite des allmächtigen Gottes sitzen.“ 70 Da riefen sie alle: „Dann bist du also der Sohn Gottes?“ – „Ihr sagt es“, erwiderte er, „ICH BIN es.“ 71 Da riefen sie: „Was brauchen wir noch Zeugen? Wir haben es ja selbst aus seinem Mund gehört!“

1 On était à quelques jours de la fête « des Pains sans levain », appelée la Pâque. (Mt 26:1; Mt 26:14; Mr 14:1; Mr 14:10; Joh 11:47) 2 Les chefs des prêtres et les spécialistes de la Loi cherchaient un moyen de supprimer Jésus, mais ils avaient peur de la réaction du peuple. 3 C’est alors que Satan entra dans le cœur de Judas surnommé l’Iscariot, l’un des Douze. 4 Judas alla trouver les chefs des prêtres et les officiers de la garde du Temple[1] pour s’entendre avec eux sur la manière dont il leur livrerait Jésus. 5 Ils en furent tout réjouis et convinrent de lui donner de l’argent. 6 Il accepta et, dès lors, il chercha une occasion favorable pour leur livrer Jésus à l’insu de la foule. 7 Le jour de la fête des Pains sans levain, où l’on devait tuer l’agneau de la Pâque, arriva. (Mt 26:17; Mr 14:12) 8 Jésus envoya Pierre et Jean en leur disant: Allez nous préparer le repas de la Pâque. 9 – Où veux-tu que nous le préparions? lui demandèrent-ils. 10 – Eh bien, quand vous entrerez dans la ville, vous rencontrerez un homme portant une cruche d’eau. Suivez-le jusqu’à la maison où il entrera. 11 Et voici comment vous parlerez au maître de maison: « Le Maître te fait dire: Où est la pièce où je prendrai le repas de la Pâque avec mes disciples? » 12 Alors il vous montrera, à l’étage supérieur, une grande pièce aménagée; c’est là que vous ferez les préparatifs. 13 Ils partirent donc, trouvèrent tout comme Jésus le leur avait dit et préparèrent le repas de la Pâque. voir (Mt 26:26; Mr 14:22; 1Co 11:23) 14 Quand ce fut l’heure, Jésus se mit à table, avec les apôtres. 15 Il leur dit: J’ai vivement désiré célébrer cette Pâque avec vous avant de souffrir. 16 En effet, je vous le déclare, je ne la mangerai plus jusqu’au jour où tout ce qu’elle signifie sera accompli dans le royaume de Dieu. 17 Puis il prit une coupe, prononça la prière de reconnaissance et dit: Prenez cette coupe et partagez-la entre vous, 18 car, je vous le déclare: dorénavant, je ne boirai plus du fruit de la vigne jusqu’à ce que le royaume de Dieu vienne. 19 Ensuite il prit du pain, remercia Dieu, le partagea en morceaux qu’il leur donna en disant: Ceci est mon corps [qui est donné pour vous. Faites cela en souvenir de moi. 20 Après le repas, il fit de même pour la coupe, en disant: Ceci est la coupe de la nouvelle alliance conclue par mon sang qui va être versé pour vous …[2]]. (Mt 26:20; Mr 14:17) 21 D’ailleurs, voici, celui qui va me trahir est ici, à table avec moi. 22 Certes, le Fils de l’homme s’en va selon ce que Dieu a décidé, mais malheur à l’homme par qui il est trahi! 23 Alors les disciples se demandèrent les uns aux autres lequel d’entre eux allait faire cela. 24 Les disciples eurent une vive discussion: il s’agissait de savoir lequel d’entre eux devait être considéré comme le plus grand. (Mt 20:25; Mr 10:42) 25 Jésus intervint: Les rois des nations, dit-il, dominent leurs peuples, et ceux qui exercent l’autorité sur elles se font appeler leurs « bienfaiteurs[3] ». 26 Il ne faut pas que vous agissiez ainsi. Au contraire, que le plus grand parmi vous soit comme le plus jeune, et que celui qui gouverne soit comme le serviteur. 27 A votre avis, qui est le plus grand? Celui qui est assis à table, ou celui qui sert? N’est-ce pas celui qui est assis à table? Eh bien, moi, au milieu de vous, je suis comme le serviteur … (Mt 19:28) 28 Vous êtes restés fidèlement avec moi au cours de mes épreuves. 29 C’est pourquoi, comme mon Père m’a donné le royaume, je vous le donne, à mon tour: 30 vous mangerez et vous boirez à ma table, dans mon royaume, et vous siégerez sur des trônes pour gouverner les douze tribus d’Israël. 31 Simon, Simon! fais attention: Satan vous a réclamés pour vous passer tous au crible, comme on secoue le blé pour le séparer de la bale. (Mt 26:31; Mr 14:27; Joh 13:36) 32 Mais moi, j’ai prié pour toi, pour que la foi ne vienne pas à te manquer. Et toi, le jour où tu seras revenu à moi, fortifie tes frères. 33 – Seigneur, lui dit Simon, je suis prêt, s’il le faut, à aller en prison avec toi, ou même à mourir! 34 – Pierre, reprit Jésus, je te l’assure: aujourd’hui même, avant que le coq chante, tu auras, par trois fois, nié de me connaître. 35 Puis, s’adressant à l’ensemble des disciples, il continua: Quand je vous ai envoyés sans bourse, ni sac de voyage, ni sandales, avez-vous manqué de quoi que ce soit? – De rien, dirent-ils. 36 – Eh bien maintenant, poursuivit-il, si vous avez une bourse, prenez-la; de même, si vous avez un sac, prenez-le, et si vous n’avez pas d’épée, vendez votre manteau pour en acheter une. 37 Car il est écrit: Il a été mis au nombre des criminels[4], et cette parole doit s’accomplir pour moi. Car tout ce qui a été écrit de moi va s’accomplir. (Isa 53:12) 38 – Seigneur, lui dirent-ils, voilà justement deux épées. – Cela suffit! leur répondit-il. (Mt 26:36; Mr 14:32) 39 Alors il sortit et se dirigea, comme d’habitude, vers le mont des Oliviers. Ses disciples s’y rendirent aussi avec lui. 40 Quand il fut arrivé, il leur dit: Priez pour ne pas céder à la tentation[5]. 41 Puis il se retira à la distance d’un jet de pierre, se mit à genoux et pria ainsi: 42 O Père, si tu le veux, écarte de moi cette coupe[6]! Toutefois, que ta volonté soit faite, et non la mienne. [ (Mt 26:39) 43 Un ange venu du ciel lui apparut et le fortifia. 44 L’angoisse le saisit, sa prière se fit de plus en plus pressante, sa sueur devint comme des gouttes de sang qui tombaient à terre[7].] 45 Après avoir ainsi prié, il se releva et s’approcha de ses disciples. Il les trouva endormis, tant ils étaient accablés de tristesse. 46 – Pourquoi dormez-vous? leur dit-il. Debout! Et priez pour ne pas céder à la tentation[8]. (Lu 22:40) 47 Il n’avait pas fini de parler, quand toute une troupe surgit. A sa tête marchait le nommé Judas, l’un des Douze. Il s’approcha de Jésus pour l’embrasser. (Mt 26:47; Mr 14:43; Joh 18:2) 48 Mais Jésus lui dit: Judas, c’est par un baiser que tu trahis le Fils de l’homme! 49 En voyant ce qui allait se passer, les compagnons de Jésus lui demandèrent: Maître, devons-nous frapper avec nos épées? 50 Et, immédiatement, l’un d’eux frappa le serviteur du grand-prêtre et lui emporta l’oreille droite. 51 Mais Jésus les retint en disant: Laissez faire, même ceci[9]! Puis il toucha l’oreille du blessé et le guérit. 52 Il se tourna ensuite vers les chefs des prêtres, les chefs des gardes du Temple et les responsables du peuple qui avaient accompagné cette troupe pour le prendre. – Me prenez-vous pour un bandit pour que vous soyez venus avec épées et gourdins? 53 J’étais chaque jour avec vous dans la cour du Temple, et personne n’a mis la main sur moi; mais maintenant c’est votre heure et les ténèbres vont exercer leur pouvoir. 54 Alors ils se saisirent de lui et le conduisirent dans le palais du grand-prêtre. Pierre suivait à distance. (Mt 26:57; Mr 14:53; Joh 18:15) 55 Au milieu de la cour, on avait allumé un feu et les gens étaient assis autour. Pierre s’assit au milieu du groupe., (Mt 26:69; Mr 14:66; Joh 18:17; Joh 18:25) 56 Une servante, en le voyant là près du feu, l’observa à la clarté de la flamme et dit: En voilà un qui était aussi avec lui. 57 Mais Pierre le nia en disant: Mais non, je ne connais pas cet homme. 58 Peu après, quelqu’un d’autre, en apercevant Pierre, l’interpella: Toi aussi, tu fais partie de ces gens! – Mais non, déclara Pierre, je n’en suis pas! 59 Environ une heure plus tard, un autre encore soutint avec insistance: C’est sûr, cet homme-là était aussi avec lui! D’ailleurs, c’est un Galiléen! 60 – Mais non, je ne sais pas ce que tu veux dire, s’écria Pierre. Au même instant, alors qu’il était encore en train de parler, le coq se mit à chanter. 61 Le Seigneur se retourna et posa son regard sur Pierre. Alors Pierre se souvint de ce que le Seigneur lui avait dit: « Avant que le coq chante aujourd’hui, tu m’auras renié trois fois! » 62 Il se glissa dehors et se mit à pleurer amèrement. (Mt 26:67; Mr 14:65) 63 Les hommes qui gardaient Jésus se moquaient de lui et le frappaient. 64 Ils lui couvraient le visage et criaient: Hé! Fais le prophète! Dis-nous qui te frappe! 65 Et ils l’accablaient d’injures. 66 Dès le point du jour, les responsables du peuple, les chefs des prêtres et les spécialistes de la Loi se réunirent et firent amener Jésus devant leur Grand-Conseil. (Mt 26:59; Mt 27:1; Mr 14:55; Mr 15:1; Joh 18:19) 67 L’interrogatoire commença: Si tu es le Messie, déclare-le-nous. Jésus leur dit: Si je vous réponds, vous ne croirez pas, 68 et si je vous pose des questions, vous ne me répondrez pas. 69 Mais à partir de maintenant, le Fils de l’homme siégera à la droite du Dieu tout-puissant[10]. (Ps 110:1; Da 7:13) 70 Alors ils se mirent à crier tous ensemble: Tu es donc le Fils de Dieu! – Vous dites vous-mêmes que je le suis, répondit Jésus. 71 Là-dessus ils s’écrièrent: Qu’avons-nous encore besoin de témoignages? Nous venons de l’entendre nous-mêmes de sa bouche.
