1And Dinah the daughter of Leah, which she bare unto Jacob, went out to see the daughters of the land.2And when Shechem the son of Hamor the Hivite, prince of the country, saw her, he took her, and lay with her, and defiled her.3And his soul clave unto Dinah the daughter of Jacob, and he loved the damsel, and spake kindly unto the damsel.4And Shechem spake unto his father Hamor, saying, Get me this damsel to wife.5And Jacob heard that he had defiled Dinah his daughter: now his sons were with his cattle in the field: and Jacob held his peace until they were come.6And Hamor the father of Shechem went out unto Jacob to commune with him.7And the sons of Jacob came out of the field when they heard it : and the men were grieved, and they were very wroth, because he had wrought folly in Israel in lying with Jacob' daughter; which thing ought not to be done.8And Hamor communed with them, saying, The soul of my son Shechem longeth for your daughter: I pray you give her him to wife.9And make ye marriages with us, and give your daughters unto us, and take our daughters unto you.10And ye shall dwell with us: and the land shall be before you; dwell and trade ye therein, and get you possessions therein.11And Shechem said unto her father and unto her brethren, Let me find grace in your eyes, and what ye shall say unto me I will give.12Ask me never so much dowry and gift, and I will give according as ye shall say unto me: but give me the damsel to wife.13And the sons of Jacob answered Shechem and Hamor his father deceitfully, and said, because he had defiled Dinah their sister:14And they said unto them, We cannot do this thing, to give our sister to one that is uncircumcised; for that were a reproach unto us:15But in this will we consent unto you: If ye will be as we be , that every male of you be circumcised;16Then will we give our daughters unto you, and we will take your daughters to us, and we will dwell with you, and we will become one people.17But if ye will not hearken unto us, to be circumcised; then will we take our daughter, and we will be gone.18And their words pleased Hamor, and Shechem Hamor' son.19And the young man deferred not to do the thing, because he had delight in Jacob' daughter: and he was more honourable than all the house of his father.20And Hamor and Shechem his son came unto the gate of their city, and communed with the men of their city, saying,21These men are peaceable with us; therefore let them dwell in the land, and trade therein; for the land, behold, it is large enough for them; let us take their daughters to us for wives, and let us give them our daughters.22Only herein will the men consent unto us for to dwell with us, to be one people, if every male among us be circumcised, as they are circumcised.23Shall not their cattle and their substance and every beast of theirs be ours? only let us consent unto them, and they will dwell with us.24And unto Hamor and unto Shechem his son hearkened all that went out of the gate of his city; and every male was circumcised, all that went out of the gate of his city.25And it came to pass on the third day, when they were sore, that two of the sons of Jacob, Simeon and Levi, Dinah' brethren, took each man his sword, and came upon the city boldly, and slew all the males.26And they slew Hamor and Shechem his son with the edge of the sword, and took Dinah out of Shechem' house, and went out.27The sons of Jacob came upon the slain, and spoiled the city, because they had defiled their sister.28They took their sheep, and their oxen, and their asses, and that which was in the city, and that which was in the field,29And all their wealth, and all their little ones, and their wives took they captive, and spoiled even all that was in the house.30And Jacob said to Simeon and Levi, Ye have troubled me to make me to stink among the inhabitants of the land, among the Canaanites and the Perizzites: and I being few in number, they shall gather themselves together against me, and slay me; and I shall be destroyed, I and my house.31And they said, Should he deal with our sister as with an harlot?
1Eines Tages wollte Dina, die Tochter von Lea und Jakob, sich unter den Mädchen des Landes umsehen.2Als Sichem sie sah – er war der Sohn von Hamor, dem führenden Mann der ganzen Gegend –, fiel er über sie her und vergewaltigte sie.3Er hatte aber eine Zuneigung zu Dina gefasst. Deshalb redete er mit ihr und suchte ihr Herz zu gewinnen. Er liebte das Mädchen4und sagte zu seinem Vater Hamor: „Sorge dafür, dass ich dieses Mädchen heiraten kann!“5Als Jakob hörte, dass seine Tochter Dina vergewaltigt worden war, verhielt er sich ruhig, bis seine Söhne heimkamen. Sie waren nämlich bei den Tieren auf der Weide.6Sichems Vater Hamor kam zu Jakob heraus, um mit ihm über die Sache zu reden.7Als die Söhne Jakobs nach Hause kamen und von der Sache hörten, fühlten sich die Männer schwer gekränkt. Sie wurden sehr zornig, denn durch die Vergewaltigung einer Tochter Jakobs hatte Sichem eine Schandtat in Israel verübt. So etwas durfte nicht geschehen.8Doch Hamor redete ihnen zu. „Mein Sohn Sichem hängt an dem Mädchen. Gebt sie ihm doch zur Frau!9Warum sollen wir uns nicht mit euch verschwägern? Gebt uns eure Töchter und ihr heiratet unsere.10Siedelt euch unter uns an; das Land steht euch offen! Bewohnt es, bereist es und macht euch darin ansässig!“11Und Sichem sagte zu Dinas Vater und zu ihren Brüdern: „Lasst mich Gnade vor euch finden! Ich will euch alles geben, was ihr verlangt.12Ihr könnt den Preis für die Braut und die Hochzeitsgabe so hoch machen, wie ihr wollt. Ich werde es bezahlen. Nur gebt mir das Mädchen zur Frau!“13Doch die Söhne Jakobs gaben Sichem und seinem Vater eine hinterhältige Antwort, weil Sichem ihre Schwester Dina entehrt hatte.14„Wir können unsere Schwester keinem Mann geben, der eine Vorhaut hat. Das wäre eine Schande für uns.15Nur unter einer Bedingung können wir eurem Wunsch entsprechen: Ihr müsst so werden wie wir! Alle männlichen Personen müssen sich beschneiden lassen! (Ge 17:9)16Dann geben wir euch unsere Töchter und können auch eure Töchter heiraten; dann wollen wir bei euch wohnen bleiben und mit euch zusammen ein Volk bilden.17Doch wenn ihr nichts von einer Beschneidung wissen wollt, nehmen wir unsere Tochter und gehen.“18Hamor und sein Sohn waren mit dem Vorschlag einverstanden.19Der junge Mann nahm die Sache gleich in die Hand, denn er hatte Gefallen an der Tochter Jakobs. Und im ganzen Haus seines Vaters hörten alle auf ihn.20So gingen Hamor und Sichem ans Tor ihrer Stadt und redeten zu den dort versammelten Männern:21„Diese Männer sind uns friedlich gesinnt. Lassen wir sie doch bei uns im Land wohnen und darin umherziehen. Das Land ist ja weit genug für sie. Wir können uns durch gegenseitige Heirat mit ihnen verbinden.22Jedoch sind sie nur dann bereit, bei uns zu bleiben und ein Volk mit uns zu werden, wenn sich alle männlichen Personen unter uns beschneiden lassen, wie es bei ihnen der Fall ist.23Wir sollten auf ihren Vorschlag eingehen, damit sie bei uns bleiben. Ihre Herden, ihr Besitz und all ihr Lastvieh wird dann doch uns gehören!“24Die Männer der Stadt hörten auf Hamor und seinen Sohn Sichem; und alle männlichen Personen, die zur Stadt gehörten, ließen sich beschneiden.25Drei Tage später, als sie im Wundfieber lagen, nahmen die Brüder Dinas, die Jakobssöhne Simeon und Levi, ihre Schwerter, überfielen die sorglose Stadt und töteten alle männlichen Bewohner.26Sie erschlugen auch Hamor und seinen Sohn Sichem, holten ihre Schwester aus Sichems Haus und nahmen sie mit.27Dann plünderten die Söhne Jakobs die Stadt und raubten die Erschlagenen aus, weil sie ihre Schwester entehrt hatten.28Sie nahmen ihr Kleinvieh, ihre Rinder und Esel, alles, was in der Stadt und auf dem freien Feld war,29und raubten alles, was sie in den Häusern fanden. Auch ihre Kinder und Frauen schleppten sie als Beute weg.30Da sagte Jakob zu Simeon und Levi: „Ihr stürzt mich ins Unglück, denn ihr habt mich bei den Bewohnern des Landes verhasst gemacht, bei den Kanaanitern und Perisitern. Ich habe doch nur eine zählbare Mannschaft. Wenn sie sich gegen mich zusammentun, werden sie mich besiegen, dann bringen sie mich und meine Familie um.“31Aber sie erwiderten: „Durfte er unsere Schwester denn wie eine Hure behandeln?“
1Dina, la fille que Léa avait donnée à Jacob, sortit pour aller voir les filles du pays.2Sichem, fils de Hamor le Hévien qui gouvernait la région, la remarqua: il l’enleva et coucha avec elle en lui faisant violence.3Il s’attacha à Dina, la fille de Jacob, en tomba amoureux et toucha le cœur de la jeune fille par ses paroles.4Il dit à son père Hamor: Obtiens-moi cette jeune fille pour femme.5Or Jacob avait appris que sa fille Dina avait été déshonorée. Mais comme ses fils étaient aux champs avec son bétail, il n’avait rien dit jusqu’à leur retour.6Hamor, le père de Sichem, se rendit chez Jacob pour lui parler.7Les fils de Jacob, à cette nouvelle, étaient revenus des champs. Ces hommes, outrés, étaient dans une grande colère parce que Sichem s’était rendu coupable d’une action infâme contre Israël en couchant avec la fille de Jacob, une chose inadmissible.8Hamor leur parla ainsi: Sichem, mon fils, s’est épris de votre fille; s’il vous plaît, donnez-la lui pour femme9et alliez-vous par mariage avec nous. Vous nous donnerez vos filles et vous prendrez les nôtres.10Vous vous établirez chez nous; le pays sera à votre disposition; demeurez-y, vous y ferez vos affaires et vous y acquerrez des propriétés.11Sichem, de son côté, s’adressa au père et aux frères de la jeune fille: Faites-moi cette faveur! Je vous donnerai ce que vous me demanderez.12Exigez de moi une forte dot et des présents. Je vous donnerai ce que vous me demanderez; accordez-moi seulement la jeune fille pour épouse.13Parce qu’on avait déshonoré leur sœur Dina, les fils de Jacob usèrent de ruse en répondant à Sichem et à Hamor, son père,14en ces termes: Il ne nous est pas possible de donner notre sœur à un homme incirconcis; ce serait un déshonneur pour nous.15Nous ne vous donnerons notre consentement qu’à la condition que, comme nous, vous fassiez circoncire tous ceux qui sont de sexe masculin parmi vous.16Alors nous vous donnerons nos filles en mariage et nous épouserons les vôtres, nous nous établirons chez vous et nous formerons un seul peuple.17Par contre, si vous n’acceptez pas de vous faire circoncire, nous reprendrons notre fille et nous nous en irons.18Hamor et son fils Sichem acceptèrent cette proposition,19et le jeune homme fit sans délai ce qu’on lui demandait, tant il était épris de la fille de Jacob. Or, il était le plus influent dans la famille de son père.20Il se rendit donc avec lui à la porte[1] de leur ville et ils parlèrent ainsi à leurs concitoyens:21Ces gens-là sont bien disposés envers nous; qu’ils s’établissent dans le pays et qu’ils y fassent des affaires; voici le pays est assez vaste pour eux dans toute son étendue. Nous épouserons leurs filles et nous leur donnerons les nôtres.22Seulement, ces hommes ne consentiront à habiter avec nous pour que nous formions ensemble un seul peuple que si tous les hommes parmi nous sont circoncis comme chez eux.23Ainsi, leurs troupeaux et leurs biens et toutes leurs bêtes de somme nous appartiendront. Consentons donc à ce qu’ils demandent et ils s’établiront chez nous.24Alors tous ceux qui se trouvaient à la porte de la ville se laissèrent convaincre par Hamor et son fils Sichem, et tous les hommes et les garçons qui se trouvaient dans la ville furent circoncis.25Le troisième jour, alors qu’ils étaient souffrants, deux des fils de Jacob, Siméon et Lévi, les frères de Dina[2], prirent chacun son épée, et tombèrent sur la ville qui se croyait en sécurité. Ils tuèrent tous les hommes et les garçons. (Ge 29:33)26Ils tuèrent aussi Hamor et son fils Sichem, reprirent Dina de la maison de Sichem et partirent.27Les autres fils de Jacob vinrent achever les blessés et pillèrent la ville, parce qu’on avait déshonoré leur sœur.28Ils prirent le gros et le petit bétail ainsi que les ânes et tout ce qui était dans la ville et dans les champs.29Ils s’emparèrent de tous leurs biens, de leurs enfants et de leurs femmes et raflèrent tout ce qui était dans les maisons.30Jacob dit à Siméon et à Lévi: Vous me causez des ennuis car vous m’avez rendu odieux aux Cananéens et aux Phéréziens qui habitent le pays. Je ne dispose que d’un petit nombre d’hommes; s’ils se liguent contre moi, ils me battront et extermineront toute ma famille avec moi[3]. (Ge 49:5)31Ils lui répliquèrent: Pouvions-nous laisser traiter notre sœur comme une prostituée?
