1And it came to pass, that, as he was praying in a certain place, when he ceased, one of his disciples said unto him, Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples.2And he said unto them, When ye pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth.3Give us day by day our daily bread.4And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil.5And he said unto them, Which of you shall have a friend, and shall go unto him at midnight, and say unto him, Friend, lend me three loaves;6For a friend of mine in his journey is come to me, and I have nothing to set before him?7And he from within shall answer and say, Trouble me not: the door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed; I cannot rise and give thee.8I say unto you, Though he will not rise and give him, because he is his friend, yet because of his importunity he will rise and give him as many as he needeth.9And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.10For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.11If a son shall ask bread of any of you that is a father, will he give him a stone? or if he ask a fish, will he for a fish give him a serpent?12Or if he shall ask an egg, will he offer him a scorpion?13If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?14And he was casting out a devil, and it was dumb. And it came to pass, when the devil was gone out, the dumb spake; and the people wondered.15But some of them said, He casteth out devils through Beelzebub the chief of the devils.16And others, tempting him, sought of him a sign from heaven.17But he, knowing their thoughts, said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and a house divided against a house falleth.18If Satan also be divided against himself, how shall his kingdom stand? because ye say that I cast out devils through Beelzebub.19And if I by Beelzebub cast out devils, by whom do your sons cast them out? therefore shall they be your judges.20But if I with the finger of God cast out devils, no doubt the kingdom of God is come upon you.21When a strong man armed keepeth his palace, his goods are in peace:22But when a stronger than he shall come upon him, and overcome him, he taketh from him all his armour wherein he trusted, and divideth his spoils.23He that is not with me is against me: and he that gathereth not with me scattereth.24When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest; and finding none, he saith, I will return unto my house whence I came out.25And when he cometh, he findeth it swept and garnished.26Then goeth he, and taketh to him seven other spirits more wicked than himself; and they enter in, and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first.27And it came to pass, as he spake these things, a certain woman of the company lifted up her voice, and said unto him, Blessed is the womb that bare thee, and the paps which thou hast sucked.28But he said, Yea rather, blessed are they that hear the word of God, and keep it.29And when the people were gathered thick together, he began to say, This is an evil generation: they seek a sign; and there shall no sign be given it, but the sign of Jonas the prophet.30For as Jonas was a sign unto the Ninevites, so shall also the Son of man be to this generation.31The queen of the south shall rise up in the judgment with the men of this generation, and condemn them: for she came from the utmost parts of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and, behold, a greater than Solomon is here.32The men of Nineve shall rise up in the judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: for they repented at the preaching of Jonas; and, behold, a greater than Jonas is here.33No man, when he hath lighted a candle, putteth it in a secret place, neither under a bushel, but on a candlestick, that they which come in may see the light.34The light of the body is the eye: therefore when thine eye is single, thy whole body also is full of light; but when thine eye is evil, thy body also is full of darkness.35Take heed therefore that the light which is in thee be not darkness.36If thy whole body therefore be full of light, having no part dark, the whole shall be full of light, as when the bright shining of a candle doth give thee light.37And as he spake, a certain Pharisee besought him to dine with him: and he went in, and sat down to meat.38And when the Pharisee saw it, he marvelled that he had not first washed before dinner.39And the Lord said unto him, Now do ye Pharisees make clean the outside of the cup and the platter; but your inward part is full of ravening and wickedness.40Ye fools, did not he that made that which is without make that which is within also?41But rather give alms of such things as ye have; and, behold, all things are clean unto you.42But woe unto you, Pharisees! for ye tithe mint and rue and all manner of herbs, and pass over judgment and the love of God: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone.43Woe unto you, Pharisees! for ye love the uppermost seats in the synagogues, and greetings in the markets.44Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are as graves which appear not, and the men that walk over them are not aware of them.45Then answered one of the lawyers, and said unto him, Master, thus saying thou reproachest us also.46And he said, Woe unto you also, ye lawyers! for ye lade men with burdens grievous to be borne, and ye yourselves touch not the burdens with one of your fingers.47Woe unto you! for ye build the sepulchres of the prophets, and your fathers killed them.48Truly ye bear witness that ye allow the deeds of your fathers: for they indeed killed them, and ye build their sepulchres.49Therefore also said the wisdom of God, I will send them prophets and apostles, and some of them they shall slay and persecute:50That the blood of all the prophets, which was shed from the foundation of the world, may be required of this generation;51From the blood of Abel unto the blood of Zacharias, which perished between the altar and the temple: verily I say unto you, It shall be required of this generation.52Woe unto you, lawyers! for ye have taken away the key of knowledge: ye entered not in yourselves, and them that were entering in ye hindered.53And as he said these things unto them, the scribes and the Pharisees began to urge him vehemently, and to provoke him to speak of many things:54Laying wait for him, and seeking to catch something out of his mouth, that they might accuse him.
1Într‑o zi, Isus Se afla într‑un loc oarecare și Se ruga. După ce a terminat, unul din ucenicii Lui I‑a zis: – Doamne, învață‑ne să ne rugăm, așa cum i‑a învățat și Ioan pe ucenicii lui! (Mt 6:9; Mt 7:7)2El le‑a zis: – Când vă rugați, să ziceți astfel: „Tatăl nostru Care ești în ceruri, sfințească‑se Numele Tău! Vie Împărăția Ta, facă‑se voia Ta, precum în cer, așa și pe pământ!3Pâinea noastră, cea de toate zilele, dă‑ne‑o nouă în fiecare zi!4Și iartă‑ne păcatele noastre, pentru că și noi iertăm oricui ne este dator! Și nu ne duce în ispită,[1] ci scapă‑ne de cel rău!“[2] (Mt 26:41; Jas 1:13)5Apoi le‑a zis: – Are cineva dintre voi vreun prieten la care să se ducă în miez de noapte și să‑i spună: „Prietene, împrumută‑mi trei pâini,6pentru că a venit la mine, de pe drum, un prieten de‑al meu și n‑am nimic ce să‑i pun înainte!“,7iar acesta să‑i răspundă dinăuntru: „Nu mă deranja. Ușa este deja încuiată, iar copiii mei sunt cu mine în pat. Nu mă pot ridica să‑ți dau.“?8Vă spun că, deși nu s‑ar ridica să‑i dea pentru că‑i este prieten, totuși, ca să nu se facă de rușine[3], până la urmă tot se va ridica și‑i va da orice are nevoie.9Prin urmare, vă spun: cereți și vi se va da; căutați și veți găsi; bateți și vi se va deschide!10Căci oricine cere primește; cel ce caută găsește, iar celui ce bate i se va deschide.11Cine este tatăl acela dintre voi, care, atunci când fiul său îi cere o pâine, să‑i dea în schimb o piatră, sau când îi cere un pește, să‑i dea un șarpe în loc de pește,[4] (Mt 7:9)12sau când îi cere un ou, să‑i dea un scorpion?13Deci, dacă voi, care sunteți răi, știți să dați daruri bune copiilor voștri, cu cât mai mult Tatăl Care este în ceruri le va da Duhul Sfânt celor ce I‑L cer!?
Isus și Beelzebul
14Isus alunga un demon care era mut. După ce demonul a ieșit, mutul a vorbit, iar mulțimile au rămas uimite. (Mt 12:22; Mt 12:43; Mr 3:22)15Unii dintre ei însă ziceau: – El alungă demonii cu ajutorul lui BEELZEBUL[5], conducătorul demonilor. (Mt 12:24)16Iar alții, ca să‑L pună la încercare, căutau un semn din cer[6] de la El.17Dar Isus, cunoscându‑le gândurile, le‑a zis: – Orice împărăție dezbinată împotriva ei înseși este pustiită. Iar o casă dezbinată împotriva ei înseși se prăbușește.18Și dacă Satan este dezbinat în el însuși, cum va dăinui împărăția lui?! Vă întreb aceasta fiindcă ziceți că Eu alung demonii cu BEELZEBUL!19Iar dacă Eu alung demonii cu BEELZEBUL, fiii[7] voștri cu cine îi alungă? De aceea ei vor fi judecătorii voștri!20Dar dacă Eu alung demonii cu degetul lui Dumnezeu[8], atunci Împărăția lui Dumnezeu a venit peste voi. (Mt 12:28)21Când cel puternic, pe deplin înarmat, își păzește propria locuință, bunurile lui sunt în siguranță.22Dar când vine unul și mai puternic și‑l învinge, îi ia toate armele în care s‑a încrezut și apoi împarte prăzile.23Cine nu este cu Mine este împotriva Mea, iar cine nu adună cu Mine risipește.24Când duhul necurat iese dintr‑un om, umblă prin locuri fără apă, căutând odihnă, dar n‑o găsește. Atunci își spune: „Mă voi întoarce în casa mea, de unde am ieșit!“25Și când vine, o găsește măturată și împodobită.26Atunci se duce și mai ia alte șapte duhuri, mai rele decât el, și intrând, locuiesc acolo, iar starea din urmă a acelui om ajunge mai rea decât cea dintâi.
Adevărata fericire
27În timp ce Isus spunea aceste lucruri, o femeie din mulțime și‑a înălțat glasul și a zis: – Fericit este pântecul care Te‑a purtat și fericiți sunt sânii care Te‑au alăptat!28Dar El a zis: – Fericiți sunt mai degrabă cei ce aud Cuvântul lui Dumnezeu și‑l păzesc!
Semnul profetului Iona
29În timp ce numărul mulțimilor creștea, El a început să spună: – Această generație este o generație rea. Ea caută un semn, dar nu i se va da alt semn decât semnul lui Iona. (Mt 12:38)30Căci, așa cum a fost Iona un semn pentru niniviteni, tot așa va fi și Fiul Omului pentru generația aceasta.31Regina din sud se va ridica la judecată alături de oamenii din generația aceasta și‑i va condamna, pentru că ea a venit de la marginile pământului ca să asculte înțelepciunea lui Solomon, iar aici iată că este Ceva[9] mai mare decât Solomon.32Bărbații din Ninive se vor ridica la judecată alături de această generație și o vor condamna, pentru că ei s‑au pocăit la mesajul proclamat de Iona, iar aici iată că este Ceva mai mare decât Iona.
Candela trupului
33Nimeni nu aprinde o candelă ca s‑o pună într‑o ascunzătoare[10] sau sub un obroc, ci o așază pe un sfeșnicar, astfel încât cei ce intră, să vadă lumina. (Mt 6:22)34Ochiul este candela trupului tău.[11] Când ochiul tău este sănătos[12], tot trupul tău este plin de lumină, dar când este rău, atunci trupul tău este plin de întuneric.35Ia seama deci ca lumina care este în tine să nu fie întuneric!36Prin urmare, dacă tot trupul tău este plin de lumină, fără să aibă vreo parte întunecată, va fi întru totul plin de lumină, ca atunci când te‑ar lumina o candelă cu lumina ei strălucitoare.
Isus îi acuză pe liderii religioși
37În timp ce Isus vorbea, un fariseu L‑a rugat să mănânce la el. Isus a intrat și S‑a așezat la masă. (Mt 23:1)38Fariseul a rămas uimit când a văzut că Isus nu Se spălase înainte de masă.[13] (Mr 7:3)39Domnul i‑a zis: – Voi, fariseii, curățați pe din afară paharul și farfuria, dar pe dinăuntru sunteți plini de jaf și de răutate.40Nesăbuiților, oare Cel Ce a făcut partea din afară n‑a făcut și partea dinăuntru?41Dați deci milostenie din lucrurile dinăuntru, și atunci toate vor fi curate pentru voi.42Dar vai de voi, fariseilor! Căci voi dați zeciuială din mentă, din tămâița de câmp[14] și din orice legumă, dar neglijați judecata și dragostea lui Dumnezeu. Pe acestea trebuia să le faceți, iar pe acelea să nu le neglijați.43Vai de voi, fariseilor! Căci voi iubiți scaunul de onoare în sinagogi și saluturile în piețe!44Vai de voi! Căci voi sunteți ca mormintele care nu se văd și peste care oamenii umblă fără să știe![15] (Nu 19:11)45Unul dintre învățătorii Legii, răspunzând, I‑a zis: – Învățătorule, spunând aceste lucruri, ne jignești și pe noi!46Dar El a zis: – Vai și de voi, învățători ai Legii! Căci îi încărcați pe oameni cu poveri dificil de purtat, iar voi înșivă nu atingeți poverile nici măcar cu unul din degetele voastre!47Vai de voi! Căci voi zidiți mormintele profeților pe care i‑au ucis strămoșii[16] voștri!48Prin urmare, voi sunteți martori și încuviințați faptele strămoșilor voștri, căci ei i‑au ucis, iar voi le zidiți mormintele!49De aceea înțelepciunea lui Dumnezeu a zis: „Le voi trimite profeți și apostoli, însă pe unii dintre ei îi vor ucide, iar pe alții îi vor persecuta“,50ca să se ceară de la această generație sângele tuturor profeților, care a fost vărsat de la întemeierea lumii51– de la sângele lui Abel până la sângele lui Zaharia,[17] care a pierit între altar și Templu. Da, vă spun că va fi cerut de la generația aceasta. (Ge 4:8; 2Ch 24:20)52Vai de voi, învățători ai Legii! Căci ați luat cu voi cheia cunoașterii. Nici voi n‑ați intrat și i‑ați împiedicat astfel și pe cei ce intrau!53Când Isus a ieșit de acolo, cărturarii și fariseii au început să‑L critice cu înverșunare și să‑I pună întrebări ostile despre multe lucruri,54pândindu‑L, ca să vâneze vreun cuvânt ieșit din gura Lui.[18]
