1Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.2Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God:3And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.4Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.5They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them.6We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.7Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.8He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.9In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.10Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.11Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.12No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us.13Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit.14And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world.15Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God.16And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.17Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world.18There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.19We love him, because he first loved us.20If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?21And this commandment have we from him, That he who loveth God love his brother also.
1Preaiubiților, să nu credeți orice duh, ci testați duhurile dacă sunt de la Dumnezeu, pentru că în lume au ieșit mulți profeți falși.2Prin aceasta cunoașteți Duhul lui Dumnezeu: orice duh care mărturisește că Isus Cristos a venit în trup este de la Dumnezeu;3iar orice duh care nu‑L mărturisește pe Isus nu este de la Dumnezeu, ci este al anticristului, despre care ați auzit că vine.[1] Acum el este deja în lume.4Copilașilor, voi sunteți din Dumnezeu și i‑ați învins[2], pentru că Cel Ce este în voi este mai mare decât cel ce este în lume.5Ei sunt din lume și, de aceea, ce vorbesc ei este din lume, iar lumea îi ascultă.6Noi suntem din Dumnezeu; cel care Îl cunoaște pe Dumnezeu ne ascultă, însă cel care nu este din Dumnezeu nu ne ascultă. Prin aceasta știm care este Duhul adevărului și care este duhul rătăcirii.[3]
Dragostea este din Dumnezeu
7Preaiubiților, să ne iubim unii pe alții, pentru că dragostea este din Dumnezeu și oricine iubește este născut din Dumnezeu și‑L cunoaște pe Dumnezeu!8Cel care nu iubește nu L‑a cunoscut pe Dumnezeu, pentru că Dumnezeu este dragoste.9Prin aceasta a fost arătată dragostea lui Dumnezeu în[4] noi: Dumnezeu L‑a trimis în lume pe singurul Său Fiu, ca să trăim prin El.10În aceasta constă[5] dragostea: nu în faptul că noi L‑am iubit pe Dumnezeu, ci în faptul că El ne‑a iubit pe noi și L‑a trimis pe Fiul Său ca jertfă de ispășire pentru păcatele noastre.11Preaiubiților, dacă astfel ne‑a iubit Dumnezeu, atunci și noi suntem datori să ne iubim unii pe alții.12Nimeni nu L‑a văzut vreodată pe Dumnezeu. Dacă ne iubim unii pe alții, Dumnezeu rămâne în noi, și dragostea Lui este făcută desăvârșită în noi.13Prin aceasta știm că rămânem în El, și El în noi: prin faptul că ne‑a dat din Duhul Său.14Iar noi am văzut și mărturisim că Tatăl L‑a trimis pe Fiul ca Mântuitor al lumii.15Dacă cineva mărturisește că Isus este Fiul lui Dumnezeu, atunci Dumnezeu rămâne în el, iar el în Dumnezeu.16Și noi am cunoscut și am crezut dragostea pe care o are Dumnezeu în[6] noi. Dumnezeu este dragoste, iar cine rămâne în dragoste rămâne în Dumnezeu, și Dumnezeu rămâne în el.17În felul acesta, dragostea este făcută desăvârșită în noi, pentru ca noi să avem îndrăzneală în ziua judecății, fiindcă, în lumea aceasta, cum este El, așa suntem și noi.18În dragoste nu este frică, ci dragostea desăvârșită alungă afară frica, pentru că frica poartă în sine pedeapsa. Cel ce se teme n‑a fost făcut desăvârșit în dragoste.19Noi iubim[7] pentru că El ne‑a iubit mai întâi.20Dacă cineva spune: „Îl iubesc pe Dumnezeu“, dar își urăște fratele, este un mincinos. Căci, dacă nu‑și iubește fratele pe care l‑a văzut, nu‑L poate iubi pe Dumnezeu, pe Care nu L‑a văzut.21Și porunca pe care o avem de la El este aceasta: cine‑L iubește pe Dumnezeu, să‑și iubească și fratele!
