1 Then went Boaz up to the gate, and sat him down there: and, behold, the kinsman of whom Boaz spake came by; unto whom he said, Ho, such a one! turn aside, sit down here. And he turned aside, and sat down. 2 And he took ten men of the elders of the city, and said, Sit ye down here. And they sat down. 3 And he said unto the kinsman, Naomi, that is come again out of the country of Moab, selleth a parcel of land, which was our brother Elimelech': 4 And I thought to advertise thee, saying, Buy it before the inhabitants, and before the elders of my people. If thou wilt redeem it , redeem it : but if thou wilt not redeem it, then tell me, that I may know: for there is none to redeem it beside thee; and I am after thee. And he said, I will redeem it . 5 Then said Boaz, What day thou buyest the field of the hand of Naomi, thou must buy it also of Ruth the Moabitess, the wife of the dead, to raise up the name of the dead upon his inheritance. 6 And the kinsman said, I cannot redeem it for myself, lest I mar mine own inheritance: redeem thou my right to thyself; for I cannot redeem it . 7 Now this was the manner in former time in Israel concerning redeeming and concerning changing, for to confirm all things; a man plucked off his shoe, and gave it to his neighbour: and this was a testimony in Israel. 8 Therefore the kinsman said unto Boaz, Buy it for thee. So he drew off his shoe. 9 And Boaz said unto the elders, and unto all the people, Ye are witnesses this day, that I have bought all that was Elimelech', and all that was Chilion' and Mahlon', of the hand of Naomi. 10 Moreover Ruth the Moabitess, the wife of Mahlon, have I purchased to be my wife, to raise up the name of the dead upon his inheritance, that the name of the dead be not cut off from among his brethren, and from the gate of his place: ye are witnesses this day. 11 And all the people that were in the gate, and the elders, said, We are witnesses. The LORD make the woman that is come into thine house like Rachel and like Leah, which two did build the house of Israel: and do thou worthily in Ephratah, and be famous in Bethlehem: 12 And let thy house be like the house of Pharez, whom Tamar bare unto Judah, of the seed which the LORD shall give thee of this young woman. 13 So Boaz took Ruth, and she was his wife: and when he went in unto her, the LORD gave her conception, and she bare a son. 14 And the women said unto Naomi, Blessed be the LORD, which hath not left thee this day without a kinsman, that his name may be famous in Israel. 15 And he shall be unto thee a restorer of thy life, and a nourisher of thine old age: for thy daughter in law, which loveth thee, which is better to thee than seven sons, hath born him. 16 And Naomi took the child, and laid it in her bosom, and became nurse unto it. 17 And the women her neighbours gave it a name, saying, There is a son born to Naomi; and they called his name Obed: he is the father of Jesse, the father of David. 18 Now these are the generations of Pharez: Pharez begat Hezron, 19 And Hezron begat Ram, and Ram begat Amminadab, 20 And Amminadab begat Nahshon, and Nahshon begat Salmon, 21 And Salmon begat Boaz, and Boaz begat Obed, 22 And Obed begat Jesse, and Jesse begat David.

Boas wird der Löser

1 Boas ging hinauf ins Tor und setzte sich daselbst. Und siehe, als der Löser vorüberging, von dem er geredet hatte, sprach Boas: Komm, setz dich her, es geht um dich! Und er kam herüber und setzte sich dort hin. 2 Und Boas nahm zehn Männer von den Ältesten der Stadt und sprach: Setzt euch hierher! Und sie setzten sich. 3 Da sprach er zu dem Löser: Noomi, die aus dem Lande der Moabiter zurückgekommen ist, bietet feil den Anteil an dem Feld, der unserm Bruder Elimelech gehörte. 4 Darum gedachte ich’s vor deine Ohren zu bringen und zu sagen: Willst du es lösen, so kaufe es vor den Bürgern und vor den Ältesten meines Volks; willst du es aber nicht lösen, so sage mir’s, dass ich’s wisse; denn es ist kein anderer Löser da als du und ich nach dir. Er sprach: Ich will’s lösen. (Le 25:25; Jer 32:6) 5 Boas sprach: An dem Tage, da du von Noomi das Feld kaufst, musst du auch Rut, die Moabiterin, die Frau des Verstorbenen, nehmen, um den Namen des Verstorbenen zu erhalten auf seinem Erbteil. (De 25:5) 6 Da antwortete er: Ich vermag es nicht zu lösen, sonst würde ich mein Erbteil schädigen. Löse dir zugut, was ich hätte lösen sollen; denn ich vermag es nicht zu lösen. 7 Es war aber von alters her ein Brauch in Israel: Wenn einer eine Sache bekräftigen wollte, die eine Lösung oder einen Tausch betraf, so zog er seinen Schuh aus und gab ihn dem andern; das diente zur Bezeugung in Israel. (De 25:7) 8 Und der Löser sprach zu Boas: Kaufe du es!, und zog seinen Schuh aus. 9 Und Boas sprach zu den Ältesten und zu allem Volk: Ihr seid heute Zeugen, dass ich von Noomi alles gekauft habe, was Elimelech, und alles, was Kiljon und Machlon gehört hat. 10 Dazu habe ich mir auch Rut, die Moabiterin, die Frau Machlons, zur Frau genommen, dass ich den Namen des Verstorbenen erhalte auf seinem Erbteil und sein Name nicht ausgerottet werde unter seinen Brüdern und aus dem Tor seiner Stadt; dessen seid ihr heute Zeugen. 11 Und alles Volk, das im Tor war, samt den Ältesten sprach: Wir sind Zeugen. Der HERR mache die Frau, die in dein Haus kommt, wie Rahel und Lea, die beide das Haus Israel gebaut haben; sei stark in Efrata, und dein Name werde gepriesen zu Bethlehem. 12 Und dein Haus werde wie das Haus des Perez, den Tamar dem Juda gebar, durch die Nachkommen, die dir der HERR geben wird von dieser jungen Frau. (Ge 38:29)

Boas heiratet Rut, die Stammmutter Davids

13 So nahm Boas die Rut, dass sie seine Frau wurde. Und als er zu ihr einging, gab ihr der HERR, dass sie schwanger ward, und sie gebar einen Sohn. 14 Da sprachen die Frauen zu Noomi: Gelobt sei der HERR, der dir heute den Löser nicht versagt hat! Sein Name werde gerühmt in Israel! 15 Der wird dich erquicken und dein Alter versorgen. Denn deine Schwiegertochter, die dich geliebt hat, hat ihn geboren, die dir mehr wert ist als sieben Söhne. 16 Und Noomi nahm das Kind und legte es auf ihren Schoß und ward seine Wärterin. 17 Und ihre Nachbarinnen gaben ihm einen Namen und sprachen: Noomi ist ein Sohn geboren; und sie nannten ihn Obed. Der ist der Vater Isais, welcher Davids Vater ist. (Mt 1:5; Lu 3:32) 18 Dies ist das Geschlecht des Perez: Perez zeugte Hezron; (Ge 46:12; 1Ch 2:5) 19 Hezron zeugte Ram; Ram zeugte Amminadab; (1Ch 2:9) 20 Amminadab zeugte Nachschon; Nachschon zeugte Salmon; (Nu 1:7) 21 Salmon zeugte Boas; Boas zeugte Obed; 22 Obed zeugte Isai; Isai zeugte David.
