1 My son, forget not my law; but let thine heart keep my commandments: 2 For length of days, and long life, and peace, shall they add to thee. 3 Let not mercy and truth forsake thee: bind them about thy neck; write them upon the table of thine heart: 4 So shalt thou find favour and good understanding in the sight of God and man. 5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. 6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. 7 Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil. 8 It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones. 9 Honour the LORD with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase: 10 So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine. 11 My son, despise not the chastening of the LORD; neither be weary of his correction: 12 For whom the LORD loveth he correcteth; even as a father the son in whom he delighteth. 13 Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding. 14 For the merchandise of it is better than the merchandise of silver, and the gain thereof than fine gold. 15 She is more precious than rubies: and all the things thou canst desire are not to be compared unto her. 16 Length of days is in her right hand; and in her left hand riches and honour. 17 Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace. 18 She is a tree of life to them that lay hold upon her: and happy is every one that retaineth her. 19 The LORD by wisdom hath founded the earth; by understanding hath he established the heavens. 20 By his knowledge the depths are broken up, and the clouds drop down the dew. 21 My son, let not them depart from thine eyes: keep sound wisdom and discretion: 22 So shall they be life unto thy soul, and grace to thy neck. 23 Then shalt thou walk in thy way safely, and thy foot shall not stumble. 24 When thou liest down, thou shalt not be afraid: yea, thou shalt lie down, and thy sleep shall be sweet. 25 Be not afraid of sudden fear, neither of the desolation of the wicked, when it cometh. 26 For the LORD shall be thy confidence, and shall keep thy foot from being taken. 27 Withhold not good from them to whom it is due, when it is in the power of thine hand to do it . 28 Say not unto thy neighbour, Go, and come again, and to morrow I will give; when thou hast it by thee. 29 Devise not evil against thy neighbour, seeing he dwelleth securely by thee. 30 Strive not with a man without cause, if he have done thee no harm. 31 Envy thou not the oppressor, and choose none of his ways. 32 For the froward is abomination to the LORD: but his secret is with the righteous. 33 The curse of the LORD is in the house of the wicked: but he blesseth the habitation of the just. 34 Surely he scorneth the scorners: but he giveth grace unto the lowly. 35 The wise shall inherit glory: but shame shall be the promotion of fools.

Vom Segen der Gottesfurcht und Weisheit

1 Mein Sohn, vergiss meine Weisung nicht, und dein Herz behalte meine Gebote, (Le 18:5) 2 denn sie werden dir langes Leben bringen und gute Jahre und Frieden; 3 Gnade und Treue sollen dich nicht verlassen. Hänge meine Gebote an deinen Hals und schreibe sie auf die Tafel deines Herzens, (De 6:8; Jer 31:33) 4 so wirst du Freundlichkeit und Klugheit erlangen, die Gott und den Menschen gefallen. 5 Verlass dich auf den HERRN von ganzem Herzen, und verlass dich nicht auf deinen Verstand, 6 sondern gedenke an ihn in allen deinen Wegen, so wird er dich recht führen. 7 Dünke dich nicht, weise zu sein, sondern fürchte den HERRN und weiche vom Bösen. (Isa 5:21) 8 Das wird deinem Leibe heilsam sein und deine Gebeine erquicken. 9 Ehre den HERRN mit deinem Gut und mit den Erstlingen all deines Einkommens, (Ex 23:19) 10 so werden deine Scheunen voll werden und deine Kelter von Wein überlaufen. 11 Mein Sohn, verwirf die Zucht des HERRN nicht und sei nicht unwillig, wenn er dich zurechtweist; (Job 5:17; Heb 12:5) 12 denn wen der HERR liebt, den weist er zurecht, und hat doch Wohlgefallen an ihm wie ein Vater am Sohn. (1Co 11:32; Re 3:19) 13 Wohl dem Menschen, der Weisheit erlangt, und dem Menschen, der Einsicht gewinnt! 14 Denn es ist besser, sie zu erwerben, als Silber, und ihr Ertrag ist besser als Gold. (Pr 8:10) 15 Sie ist edler als Perlen, und alles, was du wünschen magst, ist ihr nicht zu vergleichen. 16 Langes Leben ist in ihrer rechten Hand, in ihrer Linken ist Reichtum und Ehre. 17 Ihre Wege sind liebliche Wege, und alle ihre Steige sind Frieden. 18 Sie ist ein Baum des Lebens allen, die sie ergreifen, und glücklich sind, die sie festhalten. (Pr 11:30; Pr 13:12; Pr 15:4) 19 Der HERR hat die Erde mit Weisheit gegründet und nach seiner Einsicht die Himmel bereitet. (Pr 8:22) 20 Durch seine Erkenntnis quellen die Wasser der Tiefe hervor und triefen die Wolken von Tau. 21 Mein Sohn, lass sie nicht aus deinen Augen weichen, bewahre Umsicht und Klugheit! 22 Das wird Leben sein für dein Herz und ein Schmuck für deinen Hals. 23 Dann wirst du sicher wandeln auf deinem Wege, sodass dein Fuß sich nicht stoßen wird. 24 Legst du dich, so wirst du dich nicht fürchten, und liegst du, so wirst du süß schlafen. (Ps 3:6) 25 Fürchte dich nicht vor plötzlichem Schrecken noch vor dem Verderben der Frevler, wenn es über sie kommt; 26 denn der HERR ist deine Zuversicht; er behütet deinen Fuß, dass er nicht gefangen werde. (Pr 10:29)

Ermahnung zum Wohltun und zur Friedfertigkeit

27 Weigere dich nicht, dem Bedürftigen Gutes zu tun, wenn deine Hand es vermag. 28 Sprich nicht zu deinem Nächsten: Geh hin und komm wieder; morgen will ich dir geben –, wenn du es doch hast. 29 Trachte nicht nach Bösem gegen deinen Nächsten, der arglos bei dir wohnt. 30 Geh nicht mutwillig mit jemand vor Gericht, wenn er dir kein Leid getan hat. 31 Sei nicht neidisch auf den Gewalttätigen und erwähle seiner Wege keinen, 32 denn wer auf Abwegen geht, ist dem HERRN ein Gräuel, aber den Aufrechten ist er freund. (Ps 25:14) 33 Im Hause des Frevlers ist der Fluch des HERRN, aber das Haus der Gerechten wird gesegnet. 34 Er wird der Spötter spotten, aber den Demütigen wird er Gnade geben. (1Pe 5:5) 35 Die Weisen werden Ehre erben, aber die Toren werden Schande davontragen.
