1 Then came the children of Israel, even the whole congregation, into the desert of Zin in the first month: and the people abode in Kadesh; and Miriam died there, and was buried there. 2 And there was no water for the congregation: and they gathered themselves together against Moses and against Aaron. 3 And the people chode with Moses, and spake, saying, Would God that we had died when our brethren died before the LORD! 4 And why have ye brought up the congregation of the LORD into this wilderness, that we and our cattle should die there? 5 And wherefore have ye made us to come up out of Egypt, to bring us in unto this evil place? it is no place of seed, or of figs, or of vines, or of pomegranates; neither is there any water to drink. 6 And Moses and Aaron went from the presence of the assembly unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, and they fell upon their faces: and the glory of the LORD appeared unto them. 7 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, 8 Take the rod, and gather thou the assembly together, thou, and Aaron thy brother, and speak ye unto the rock before their eyes; and it shall give forth his water, and thou shalt bring forth to them water out of the rock: so thou shalt give the congregation and their beasts drink. 9 And Moses took the rod from before the LORD, as he commanded him. 10 And Moses and Aaron gathered the congregation together before the rock, and he said unto them, Hear now, ye rebels; must we fetch you water out of this rock? 11 And Moses lifted up his hand, and with his rod he smote the rock twice: and the water came out abundantly, and the congregation drank, and their beasts also . 12 And the LORD spake unto Moses and Aaron, Because ye believed me not, to sanctify me in the eyes of the children of Israel, therefore ye shall not bring this congregation into the land which I have given them. 13 This is the water of Meribah; because the children of Israel strove with the LORD, and he was sanctified in them. 14 And Moses sent messengers from Kadesh unto the king of Edom, Thus saith thy brother Israel, Thou knowest all the travail that hath befallen us: 15 How our fathers went down into Egypt, and we have dwelt in Egypt a long time; and the Egyptians vexed us, and our fathers: 16 And when we cried unto the LORD, he heard our voice, and sent an angel, and hath brought us forth out of Egypt: and, behold, we are in Kadesh, a city in the uttermost of thy border: 17 Let us pass, I pray thee, through thy country: we will not pass through the fields, or through the vineyards, neither will we drink of the water of the wells: we will go by the king' high way, we will not turn to the right hand nor to the left, until we have passed thy borders. 18 And Edom said unto him, Thou shalt not pass by me, lest I come out against thee with the sword. 19 And the children of Israel said unto him, We will go by the high way: and if I and my cattle drink of thy water, then I will pay for it: I will only, without doing any thing else , go through on my feet. 20 And he said, Thou shalt not go through. And Edom came out against him with much people, and with a strong hand. 21 Thus Edom refused to give Israel passage through his border: wherefore Israel turned away from him. 22 And the children of Israel, even the whole congregation, journeyed from Kadesh, and came unto mount Hor. 23 And the LORD spake unto Moses and Aaron in mount Hor, by the coast of the land of Edom, saying, 24 Aaron shall be gathered unto his people: for he shall not enter into the land which I have given unto the children of Israel, because ye rebelled against my word at the water of Meribah. 25 Take Aaron and Eleazar his son, and bring them up unto mount Hor: 26 And strip Aaron of his garments, and put them upon Eleazar his son: and Aaron shall be gathered unto his people , and shall die there. 27 And Moses did as the LORD commanded: and they went up into mount Hor in the sight of all the congregation. 28 And Moses stripped Aaron of his garments, and put them upon Eleazar his son; and Aaron died there in the top of the mount: and Moses and Eleazar came down from the mount. 29 And when all the congregation saw that Aaron was dead, they mourned for Aaron thirty days, even all the house of Israel.

1 Und die ganze Gemeinde der Israeliten kam in die Wüste Zin im ersten Monat, und das Volk lagerte sich in Kadesch. Und Mirjam starb dort und wurde dort begraben. (Nu 12:15; Nu 13:21) 2 Und die Gemeinde hatte kein Wasser, und sie versammelten sich gegen Mose und Aaron. (Ex 17:1) 3 Und das Volk haderte mit Mose und sprach: Ach dass wir umgekommen wären, als unsere Brüder umkamen vor dem HERRN! 4 Warum habt ihr die Gemeinde des HERRN in diese Wüste gebracht, dass wir hier sterben mit unserm Vieh? 5 Und warum habt ihr uns aus Ägypten geführt an diesen bösen Ort, wo man nicht säen kann, wo weder Feigen noch Weinstöcke noch Granatäpfel sind und auch kein Wasser zum Trinken ist? 6 Da gingen Mose und Aaron von der Gemeinde hinweg zum Eingang der Stiftshütte und fielen auf ihr Angesicht, und die Herrlichkeit des HERRN erschien ihnen. 7 Und der HERR redete mit Mose und sprach: 8 Nimm den Stab und versammle die Gemeinde, du und dein Bruder Aaron, und redet zu dem Felsen vor ihren Augen; der wird sein Wasser geben. So sollst du ihnen Wasser aus dem Felsen hervorbringen und die Gemeinde tränken und ihr Vieh. 9 Da nahm Mose den Stab, der vor dem HERRN lag, wie er ihm geboten hatte. (Nu 17:25) 10 Und Mose und Aaron versammelten die Gemeinde vor dem Felsen, und er sprach zu ihnen: Höret, ihr Ungehorsamen, werden wir euch wohl Wasser hervorbringen können aus diesem Felsen? (Ps 106:32) 11 Und Mose erhob seine Hand und schlug den Felsen mit dem Stab zweimal. Da kam viel Wasser heraus, sodass die Gemeinde trinken konnte und ihr Vieh. 12 Der HERR aber sprach zu Mose und Aaron: Weil ihr nicht an mich geglaubt habt und mich nicht geheiligt habt vor den Israeliten, darum sollt ihr diese Gemeinde nicht ins Land bringen, das ich ihnen geben werde. Die Edomiter verweigern den Durchzug

14 Und Mose sandte Botschaft aus Kadesch zu dem König der Edomiter: So lässt dir dein Bruder Israel sagen: Du kennst all die Mühsal, die uns betroffen hat, (Ge 36:1; Ge 36:31; De 2:1; De 23:8)

15 dass unsere Väter nach Ägypten hinabgezogen sind und wir lange Zeit in Ägypten gewohnt haben und dass die Ägypter uns und unsere Väter schlecht behandelt haben. 16 Und wir schrien zu dem HERRN; der hat unsere Stimme gehört und einen Engel gesandt und uns aus Ägypten geführt. Und siehe, wir sind in Kadesch, einer Stadt an deiner Grenze. (Ex 23:20) 17 Lass uns durch dein Land ziehen. Wir wollen nicht durch Äcker oder Weinberge gehen, auch nicht Wasser aus den Brunnen trinken. Die Königsstraße wollen wir ziehen, weder zur Rechten noch zur Linken weichen, bis wir durch dein Gebiet hindurchgekommen sind. (Nu 21:22; De 2:1; Jud 11:17) 18 Edom aber sprach zu ihnen: Du sollst nicht hindurchziehen oder ich werde dir mit dem Schwert entgegenziehen. 19 Die Israeliten sprachen zu ihm: Wir wollen auf der gebahnten Straße ziehen, und wenn wir von deinem Wasser trinken, wir und unser Vieh, so wollen wir’s bezahlen. Wir wollen nichts als nur zu Fuß hindurchziehen. 20 Er aber sprach: Du sollst nicht hindurchziehen. Und die Edomiter zogen aus, ihnen entgegen, mit mächtigem Heer und starker Hand. 21 So weigerten sich die Edomiter, Israel zu gestatten, durch ihr Gebiet zu ziehen. Und Israel wich ihnen aus.

Aarons Tod

22 Und die Israeliten brachen auf von Kadesch und kamen mit der ganzen Gemeinde an den Berg Hor. (Nu 33:37) 23 Und der HERR redete mit Mose und Aaron am Berge Hor an der Grenze des Landes der Edomiter und sprach: 24 Aaron soll versammelt werden zu seinen Vätern; denn er soll nicht in das Land kommen, das ich den Israeliten gegeben habe, weil ihr meinem Munde ungehorsam gewesen seid bei dem Haderwasser. 25 Nimm aber Aaron und seinen Sohn Eleasar und führe sie auf den Berg Hor 26 und zieh Aaron seine Kleider aus und zieh sie seinem Sohn Eleasar an. Und Aaron soll dort zu seinen Vätern versammelt werden und sterben. (Ex 29:4) 27 Da tat Mose, wie ihm der HERR geboten hatte, und sie stiegen auf den Berg Hor vor der ganzen Gemeinde. 28 Und Mose zog Aaron seine Kleider aus und zog sie seinem Sohn Eleasar an. Und Aaron starb dort oben auf dem Berge. Mose aber und Eleasar stiegen herab vom Berge. (Nu 33:38; De 10:6) 29 Und als die ganze Gemeinde sah, dass Aaron tot war, beweinten sie ihn dreißig Tage, das ganze Haus Israel. (De 34:8)
