1And it came to pass, when Jesus had made an end of commanding his twelve disciples, he departed thence to teach and to preach in their cities.2Now when John had heard in the prison the works of Christ, he sent two of his disciples,3And said unto him, Art thou he that should come, or do we look for another?4Jesus answered and said unto them, Go and shew John again those things which ye do hear and see:5The blind receive their sight, and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have the gospel preached to them.6And blessed is he, whosoever shall not be offended in me.7And as they departed, Jesus began to say unto the multitudes concerning John, What went ye out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken with the wind?8But what went ye out for to see? A man clothed in soft raiment? behold, they that wear soft clothing are in kings' houses.9But what went ye out for to see? A prophet? yea, I say unto you, and more than a prophet.10For this is he, of whom it is written, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee.11Verily I say unto you, Among them that are born of women there hath not risen a greater than John the Baptist: notwithstanding he that is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.12And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force.13For all the prophets and the law prophesied until John.14And if ye will receive it, this is Elias, which was for to come.15He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.16But whereunto shall I liken this generation? It is like unto children sitting in the markets, and calling unto their fellows,17And saying, We have piped unto you, and ye have not danced; we have mourned unto you, and ye have not lamented.18For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, He hath a devil.19The Son of man came eating and drinking, and they say, Behold a man gluttonous, and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners. But wisdom is justified of her children.20Then began he to upbraid the cities wherein most of his mighty works were done, because they repented not:21Woe unto thee, Chorazin! woe unto thee, Bethsaida! for if the mighty works, which were done in you, had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes.22But I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the day of judgment, than for you.23And thou, Capernaum, which art exalted unto heaven, shalt be brought down to hell: for if the mighty works, which have been done in thee, had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day.24But I say unto you, That it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom in the day of judgment, than for thee.25At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes.26Even so, Father: for so it seemed good in thy sight.27All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him.28Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.29Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.30For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

(Mt 3:11)4Jesus antwortete und sprach zu ihnen: Geht hin und sagt Johannes wieder, was ihr hört und seht:5Blinde sehen und Lahme gehen, Aussätzige werden rein und Taube hören, Tote stehen auf und Armen wird das Evangelium gepredigt; (Isa 26:19; Isa 35:5; Isa 61:1)6und selig ist, wer sich nicht an mir ärgert. Jesu Zeugnis über den Täufer
7Als sie fortgingen, fing Jesus an, zu dem Volk über Johannes zu reden: Was wolltet ihr sehen, als ihr in die Wüste hinausgegangen seid? Ein Schilfrohr, das vom Wind bewegt wird? (Mt 3:1; Mt 3:5; Lu 7:24)8Oder was wolltet ihr sehen, als ihr hinausgegangen seid? Einen Menschen in weichen Kleidern? Siehe, die weiche Kleider tragen, sind in den Häusern der Könige.9Oder was wolltet ihr sehen, als ihr hinausgegangen seid? Einen Propheten? Ja, ich sage euch: Er ist mehr als ein Prophet. (Mt 21:26; Lu 1:76)10Dieser ist’s, von dem geschrieben steht: »Siehe, ich sende meinen Boten vor dir her, der deinen Weg vor dir bereiten soll.« (Ex 23:20; Mal 3:1; Mr 1:2)11Wahrlich, ich sage euch: Unter allen, die von einer Frau geboren sind, ist keiner aufgetreten, der größer ist als Johannes der Täufer; der aber der Kleinste ist im Himmelreich, ist größer als er.12Aber von den Tagen Johannes des Täufers bis heute leidet das Himmelreich Gewalt, und die Gewalt tun, reißen es an sich. (Lu 16:16)13Denn alle Propheten und das Gesetz haben geweissagt bis hin zu Johannes; (1Pe 1:10)14und wenn ihr’s annehmen wollt: Er ist Elia, der da kommen soll. (Mal 3:23; Mt 17:10)15Wer Ohren hat, der höre! (Mt 13:9; Mt 13:43; Re 2:7)16Mit wem soll ich aber dieses Geschlecht vergleichen? Es ist den Kindern gleich, die auf dem Markt sitzen und rufen den andern zu:17Wir haben euch aufgespielt und ihr habt nicht getanzt; wir haben Klagelieder gesungen und ihr habt nicht geweint. (Joh 5:35)18Denn Johannes ist gekommen, aß nicht und trank nicht, und sie sagen: Er ist von einem Dämon besessen. (Mt 3:4; Lu 1:15)19Der Menschensohn ist gekommen, isst und trinkt, und sie sagen: Siehe, dieser Mensch ist ein Fresser und Weinsäufer, ein Freund der Zöllner und Sünder! Und doch ist die Weisheit gerechtfertigt worden aus ihren Werken. (Mt 9:10; Lu 15:1; Lu 19:7; Joh 2:2; 1Co 1:24)
Weherufe über galiläische Städte
20Da fing er an, die Städte zu schelten, in denen die meisten seiner Taten geschehen waren; denn sie hatten nicht Buße getan: (Lu 10:13)21Wehe dir, Chorazin! Weh dir, Betsaida! Wären in Tyrus und Sidon die Taten geschehen, die bei euch geschehen sind, sie hätten längst in Sack und Asche Buße getan. (Joe 4:4; Jon 3:6)22Doch ich sage euch: Es wird Tyrus und Sidon erträglicher ergehen am Tage des Gerichts als euch.23Und du, Kapernaum, wirst du bis zum Himmel erhoben werden? Du wirst bis zur Hölle hinabfahren. Denn wenn in Sodom die Taten geschehen wären, die in dir geschehen sind, es stünde noch heutigen Tages. (Isa 14:13; Mt 4:13; Mt 8:5; Mt 9:1)24Doch ich sage euch: Es wird dem Land von Sodom erträglicher ergehen am Tage des Gerichts als dir. (Ge 19:1; Mt 10:15)
Jesu Lobpreis. Der Heilandsruf
25Zu der Zeit fing Jesus an und sprach: Ich preise dich, Vater, Herr des Himmels und der Erde, dass du dies Weisen und Klugen verborgen hast und hast es Unmündigen offenbart. (Isa 29:14; Lu 10:21; Joh 17:25; 1Co 1:18)26Ja, Vater; denn so hat es dir wohlgefallen.27Alles ist mir übergeben von meinem Vater, und niemand kennt den Sohn als nur der Vater; und niemand kennt den Vater als nur der Sohn und wem es der Sohn offenbaren will. (Mt 28:18; Joh 1:18; Joh 3:35; Joh 10:15; Joh 17:2; Php 2:9)28Kommt her zu mir, alle, die ihr mühselig und beladen seid; ich will euch erquicken. (Jer 31:25; Mt 23:4)29Nehmt auf euch mein Joch und lernt von mir; denn ich bin sanftmütig und von Herzen demütig; so werdet ihr Ruhe finden für eure Seelen. (Isa 28:12; Jer 6:16)30Denn mein Joch ist sanft, und meine Last ist leicht. (1Jo 5:3)
