Psalm 27

King James Version

1 A Psalm of David. The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? 

2 When the wicked, even mine enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell. 

3 Though an host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear: though war should rise against me, in this will I be confident. 

4 One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to enquire in his temple. 

5 For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion: in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall set me up upon a rock. 

6 And now shall mine head be lifted up above mine enemies round about me: therefore will I offer in his tabernacle sacrifices of joy; I will sing, yea, I will sing praises unto the LORD. 

7 Hear, O LORD, when I cry with my voice: have mercy also upon me, and answer me. 

8 When thou saidst , Seek ye my face; my heart said unto thee, Thy face, LORD, will I seek. 

9 Hide not thy face far from me; put not thy servant away in anger: thou hast been my help; leave me not, neither forsake me, O God of my salvation. 

10 When my father and my mother forsake me, then the LORD will take me up. 

11 Teach me thy way, O LORD, and lead me in a plain path, because of mine enemies. 

12 Deliver me not over unto the will of mine enemies: for false witnesses are risen up against me, and such as breathe out cruelty. 

13 I had fainted , unless I had believed to see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living. 

14 Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.

1 Of David. The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? (Ex 15:2; Ps 23:4; Ps 84:11; Ps 118:14; Isa 12:2; Isa 60:20; Isa 62:11; Mic 7:8) 

2 When evildoers assail me to eat up my flesh, my adversaries and foes, it is they who stumble and fall. (Ps 14:4) 

3 Though an army encamp against me, my heart shall not fear; though war arise against me, yet I will be confident. (Ps 3:6) 

4 One thing have I asked of the Lord, that will I seek after: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord and to inquire in his temple. (Ps 23:6; Ps 26:8; Ps 65:4; Ps 84:1; Ps 90:17; Lu 2:37) 

5 For he will hide me in his shelter in the day of trouble; he will conceal me under the cover of his tent; he will lift me high upon a rock. (Job 5:21; Ps 31:20; Ps 40:2; Ps 91:1; Isa 4:6) 

6 And now my head shall be lifted up above my enemies all around me, and I will offer in his tent sacrifices with shouts of joy; I will sing and make melody to the Lord. (Nu 10:10; Ps 3:3; Eph 5:19; Col 3:16) 

7 Hear, O Lord, when I cry aloud; be gracious to me and answer me! (Ps 30:10) 

8 You have said, “Seek my face.” My heart says to you, “Your face, Lord, do I seek.” (Ps 24:6; Ps 105:4) 

9 Hide not your face from me. Turn not your servant away in anger, O you who have been my help. Cast me not off; forsake me not, O God of my salvation! (Ps 24:5; Ps 69:17; Ps 102:2; Ps 143:7) 

10 For my father and my mother have forsaken me, but the Lord will take me in. (Isa 40:11; Isa 49:15; Isa 63:16) 

11 Teach me your way, O Lord, and lead me on a level path because of my enemies. (Ps 5:8; Ps 25:4) 

12 Give me not up to the will of my adversaries; for false witnesses have risen against me, and they breathe out violence. (1Ki 21:13; Ps 35:11; Ps 41:2; Mt 26:59; Mr 14:55; Ac 9:1) 

13 I believe that I shall look upon the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living! (Ex 33:19; Job 28:13; Ps 52:5; Ps 116:9; Ps 142:5)
