Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.17But thou, when thou fastest, anoint thine head, and wash thy face;18That thou appear not unto men to fast, but unto thy Father which is in secret: and thy Father, which seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly.19Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:20But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:21For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.22The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light.23But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!24No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.25Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?26Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?27Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature?28And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin:29And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.30Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?31Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?32(For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.33But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.34Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.
1Habt acht auf eure Gerechtigkeit[1], dass ihr ⟨sie⟩ nicht vor den Menschen übt, um von ihnen gesehen zu werden! Sonst habt ihr keinen Lohn bei eurem Vater, der in den Himmeln ist. 5Und wenn ihr betet, sollt ihr nicht sein wie die Heuchler, denn sie lieben es, in den Synagogen und an den Ecken der Straßen stehend zu beten, damit sie von den Menschen gesehen werden. Wahrlich, ich sage euch, sie haben ihren Lohn weg. (Mt 6:1)6Wenn du aber betest, so geh in deine Kammer, und wenn du deine Tür geschlossen hast, bete zu deinem Vater, der im Verborgenen ist! Rechtes Fasten
16Wenn ihr aber fastet, so seht nicht düster aus wie die Heuchler! Denn sie verstellen ihre Gesichter, damit sie den Menschen als Fastende erscheinen. Wahrlich, ich sage euch, sie haben ihren Lohn weg. (Isa 58:5; Mt 6:2)17Wenn du aber fastest, so salbe dein Haupt und wasche dein Gesicht,18damit du nicht den Menschen als ein Fastender erscheinst, sondern deinem Vater, der im Verborgenen ist! Und dein Vater, der im Verborgenen sieht, wird dir vergelten. (Mt 6:4)
Warnung vor Habsucht und irdischen Sorgen
19Sammelt euch nicht Schätze auf der Erde, wo Motte und Fraß[6] zerstören und wo Diebe durchgraben und stehlen; (Pr 23:4; Lu 12:21; Jas 5:2)20sammelt euch aber Schätze im Himmel, wo weder Motte noch Fraß[7] zerstören und wo Diebe nicht durchgraben noch stehlen! (Mt 19:21; Mr 10:21; Lu 18:22; Col 3:2; 1Ti 6:19; Heb 10:34)21Denn wo dein Schatz ist, da wird auch dein Herz sein. (Lu 11:34)22Die Lampe des Leibes ist das Auge; wenn nun dein Auge klar[8] ist, so wird dein ganzer Leib licht sein;23wenn aber dein Auge böse ist, so wird dein ganzer Leib finster sein. Wenn nun das Licht, das in dir ist, Finsternis ist, wie groß die Finsternis! (Mt 20:15; Mr 7:22)24Niemand kann zwei Herren dienen[9]; denn entweder wird er den einen hassen und den anderen lieben, oder er wird einem anhängen und den anderen verachten. Ihr könnt nicht Gott dienen und dem Mammon[10]. (Lu 16:13; Ro 6:16; Jas 4:4; 1Jo 2:15)25Deshalb sage ich euch: Seid nicht besorgt für euer Leben, was ihr essen und was ihr trinken sollt, noch für euren Leib, was ihr anziehen sollt! Ist nicht das Leben mehr als die Speise und der Leib mehr als die Kleidung? (1Co 7:32; Php 4:6; 1Pe 5:7)26Seht hin auf die Vögel des Himmels, dass sie weder säen noch ernten noch in Scheunen sammeln, und euer himmlischer Vater ernährt sie ⟨doch⟩. Seid ihr nicht viel wertvoller als sie? (Ps 145:15; Ps 147:9; Mt 10:29; Mt 12:12)27Wer aber unter euch kann mit Sorgen seiner Lebenslänge[11] eine Elle zusetzen?28Und warum seid ihr um Kleidung besorgt? Betrachtet die Lilien des Feldes, wie sie wachsen; sie mühen sich nicht, auch spinnen sie nicht.29Ich sage euch aber, dass selbst nicht Salomo in all seiner Herrlichkeit bekleidet war wie eine von diesen. (1Ki 3:13)30Wenn aber Gott das Gras des Feldes, das heute steht und morgen in den Ofen geworfen wird, so kleidet, ⟨wird er das⟩ nicht viel mehr euch ⟨tun⟩, ihr Kleingläubigen? (Mt 8:26; Mt 14:31; Mt 16:8)31So seid nun nicht besorgt, indem ihr sagt: Was sollen wir essen? Oder: Was sollen wir trinken? Oder: Was sollen wir anziehen? (1Co 7:32; Php 4:6; 1Pe 5:7)32Denn nach diesem allen trachten die Nationen; denn euer himmlischer Vater weiß, dass ihr dies alles benötigt. (Mt 6:8)33Trachtet aber zuerst nach dem Reich[12] Gottes und nach seiner[13] Gerechtigkeit! Und dies alles wird euch hinzugefügt werden.34So seid nun nicht besorgt um den morgigen Tag! Denn der morgige Tag wird für sich selbst sorgen. Jeder Tag hat an seinem Übel genug. (Ex 16:19; Job 7:1; Lu 6:37)
