1When the LORD thy God hath cut off the nations, whose land the LORD thy God giveth thee, and thou succeedest them, and dwellest in their cities, and in their houses;2Thou shalt separate three cities for thee in the midst of thy land, which the LORD thy God giveth thee to possess it.3Thou shalt prepare thee a way, and divide the coasts of thy land, which the LORD thy God giveth thee to inherit, into three parts, that every slayer may flee thither.4And this is the case of the slayer, which shall flee thither, that he may live: Whoso killeth his neighbour ignorantly, whom he hated not in time past;5As when a man goeth into the wood with his neighbour to hew wood, and his hand fetcheth a stroke with the axe to cut down the tree, and the head slippeth from the helve, and lighteth upon his neighbour, that he die; he shall flee unto one of those cities, and live:6Lest the avenger of the blood pursue the slayer, while his heart is hot, and overtake him, because the way is long, and slay him; whereas he was not worthy of death, inasmuch as he hated him not in time past.7Wherefore I command thee, saying, Thou shalt separate three cities for thee.8And if the LORD thy God enlarge thy coast, as he hath sworn unto thy fathers, and give thee all the land which he promised to give unto thy fathers;9If thou shalt keep all these commandments to do them, which I command thee this day, to love the LORD thy God, and to walk ever in his ways; then shalt thou add three cities more for thee, beside these three:10That innocent blood be not shed in thy land, which the LORD thy God giveth thee for an inheritance, and so blood be upon thee.11But if any man hate his neighbour, and lie in wait for him, and rise up against him, and smite him mortally that he die, and fleeth into one of these cities:12Then the elders of his city shall send and fetch him thence, and deliver him into the hand of the avenger of blood, that he may die.13Thine eye shall not pity him, but thou shalt put away the guilt of innocent blood from Israel, that it may go well with thee.14Thou shalt not remove thy neighbour's landmark, which they of old time have set in thine inheritance, which thou shalt inherit in the land that the LORD thy God giveth thee to possess it.15One witness shall not rise up against a man for any iniquity, or for any sin, in any sin that he sinneth: at the mouth of two witnesses, or at the mouth of three witnesses, shall the matter be established.16If a false witness rise up against any man to testify against him that which is wrong;17Then both the men, between whom the controversy is , shall stand before the LORD, before the priests and the judges, which shall be in those days;18And the judges shall make diligent inquisition: and, behold, if the witness be a false witness, and hath testified falsely against his brother;19Then shall ye do unto him, as he had thought to have done unto his brother: so shalt thou put the evil away from among you.20And those which remain shall hear, and fear, and shall henceforth commit no more any such evil among you.21And thine eye shall not pity; but life shall go for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot.
1Wenn der HERR, dein Gott, die Nationen ausrotten wird, deren Land der HERR, dein Gott, dir gibt, und du sie vertreibst und in ihren Städten und in ihren Häusern wohnst, (Nu 35:9; De 12:29; Jos 20:1; Jos 24:13)2dann sollst du dir drei Städte aussondern[1] mitten in deinem Land, das der HERR, dein Gott, dir gibt, es in Besitz zu nehmen. (Ex 21:13; De 3:18; De 4:41)3Du sollst dir den Weg ⟨dahin⟩ instand halten und das Gebiet deines Landes, das der HERR, dein Gott, dir als Erbteil geben wird, in drei Teile teilen. Und es soll ⟨dazu⟩ geschehen, dass jeder Totschläger dahin fliehen ⟨kann⟩. (De 4:21; De 26:1)4Das aber ist die Sache mit dem Totschläger, der dahin flieht, damit er am Leben bleibt: Wer seinen Nächsten unabsichtlich[2] erschlägt und ihn nicht schon vorher[3] hasste5– ⟨etwa⟩ wer mit seinem Nächsten in den Wald geht, um Holz zu schlagen, und seine Hand holt mit der Axt aus, um das Holz abzuhauen, und das Eisen fährt vom Stiel und trifft seinen Nächsten, dass er stirbt –, der soll in eine dieser Städte fliehen, damit er am Leben bleibt,6damit nicht der Bluträcher wutentbrannt[4] dem Totschläger nachjagt und ihn einholt, weil der Weg zu lang ist, und ihn totschlägt, obwohl ihn kein Todesurteil ⟨traf⟩, weil er ihn nicht schon vorher[5] hasste.7Darum befehle ich dir: Drei Städte sollst du dir aussondern. – (Ex 21:13; De 3:18; De 4:41)8Und wenn der HERR, dein Gott, dein Gebiet erweitern wird, wie er deinen Vätern geschworen hat, und dir das ganze Land gibt, das er deinen Vätern zu geben zugesagt hat – (Ge 15:18)9wenn du darauf achtest, dieses ganze Gebot zu tun, das ich dir heute befehle, indem du den HERRN, deinen Gott, liebst und alle Tage auf seinen Wegen gehst –, dann sollst du dir noch drei Städte zu diesen dreien hinzufügen, (De 11:22)10damit nicht unschuldiges Blut vergossen wird mitten in deinem Land, das der HERR, dein Gott, dir als Erbteil gibt, und Blutschuld auf dir ist. – (De 4:21; De 26:1; Mt 27:25)11Wenn aber ein Mann seinen Nächsten hasst und ihm auflauert und sich gegen ihn erhebt und ihn totschlägt, sodass er stirbt, und er flieht in eine dieser Städte, (Pr 28:17)12dann sollen die Ältesten seiner Stadt hinsenden und ihn von dort holen und ihn der Hand des Bluträchers übergeben, dass er stirbt. (Ge 9:5; Ex 21:14; De 27:24; 2Sa 14:7)13Du sollst seinetwegen nicht betrübt sein[6], sondern du sollst unschuldig ⟨vergossenes⟩ Blut aus Israel wegschaffen, damit es dir gut geht. (Nu 35:31; De 21:9; 1Ki 2:31)14Du sollst nicht die Grenze deines Nächsten verrücken, die die Vorfahren gezogen haben in deinem Erbteil, das du erben wirst in dem Land, das der HERR, dein Gott, dir gibt, es in Besitz zu nehmen. Zeugen vor Gericht
15Ein einzelner Zeuge soll nicht gegen jemanden auftreten wegen irgendeiner Ungerechtigkeit[7] oder wegen irgendeiner Sünde, wegen irgendeiner Verfehlung, die er begeht. ⟨Nur⟩ auf zweier Zeugen Aussage oder auf dreier Zeugen Aussage hin soll eine Sache gültig sein[8]. – (De 17:6; Re 11:3)16Wenn ein falscher Zeuge[9] gegen jemanden auftritt, um ihn des Ungehorsams[10] zu beschuldigen, (Ex 23:1; De 5:20; Ps 27:12)17dann sollen die beiden Männer, die den Rechtsstreit führen, vor den HERRN treten, vor die Priester und die Richter, die in jenen Tagen da sein werden. (Ex 21:6; De 16:18)18Und die Richter sollen ⟨die Sache⟩ genau untersuchen. Und siehe, ist der Zeuge ein Lügenzeuge, hat er gegen seinen Bruder Lüge bezeugt,19dann sollt ihr ihm tun, wie er seinem Bruder zu tun gedachte. Und du sollst das Böse aus deiner Mitte wegschaffen. (De 13:6; Pr 19:5; Da 6:25)20Und die Übrigen sollen es hören und sich fürchten und nicht mehr länger eine solch böse Sache in deiner Mitte begehen. (De 13:12)21Und du sollst nicht schonen[11]: Leben um Leben, Auge um Auge, Zahn um Zahn, Hand um Hand, Fuß um Fuß! (Ex 21:23)
