Zusammenfassung der Eroberungen unter Mose

1 Östlich des Jordan hatten die Israeliten das ganze Gebiet erobert, das zwischen dem Fluss Arnon im Süden und dem Hermongebirge im Norden liegt, einschließlich des gesamten Ostjordantals. Zwei Könige hatten sie dort besiegt: 2 Einer von ihnen war Sihon, der König der Amoriter, der in Heschbon regierte. Sein Reich erstreckte sich von der Mitte des Arnontals, an dessen Rand die Stadt Aroër liegt, über das halbe Land Gilead bis an den Fluss Jabbok, der die Grenze zu den Ammonitern bildete. 3 Es umfasste das östliche Jordantal vom See Genezareth bis hinab nach Bet-Jeschimot am Toten Meer. Von dort zog es sich noch weiter südlich bis zu den Abhängen des Berges Pisga. 4 Der andere Herrscher, dessen Gebiet die Israeliten erobert hatten, war Og, der König von Baschan. Er gehörte zu den Refaïtern, den letzten Riesen, die es noch im Land gab, und regierte in Aschtarot und Edreï. 5 Sein Reich umschloss das Hermongebirge im Norden, die Stadt Salcha im Osten und das ganze Gebiet von Baschan bis an die Grenzen der Geschuriter und Maachatiter. Ihm gehörte auch die nördliche Hälfte Gileads bis an die Grenzen von König Sihons Herrschaftsgebiet. 6 Unter Moses Führung hatte Israel beide Könige besiegt. Das eroberte Land gab Mose, der Diener des HERRN, den Stämmen Ruben, Gad und dem halben Stamm Manasse.

7 Unter Josuas Führung besiegten die Israeliten die Könige westlich des Jordan zwischen Baal-Gad im Libanontal und dem kahlen Gebirge im Süden, das sich in Richtung Seïr erhebt. Dieses Gebiet teilte Josua später unter die übrigen Stämme und ihre Sippen auf: 8 das Hügelland zwischen dem Mittelmeer und dem Bergland, das Bergland selbst und seine östlichen Ausläufer, das Jordantal, die Steppe und die Wüste Negev im Süden, das gesamte Gebiet der Hetiter, Amoriter, Kanaaniter, Perisiter, Hiwiter und Jebusiter. 9 Deren Könige hatten in folgenden Städten regiert: Jericho und Ai, das bei Bethel liegt, 10 Jerusalem, Hebron, 11 Jarmut, Lachisch, 12 Eglon, Geser, 13 Debir, Geder, 14 Horma, Arad, 15 Libna, Adullam, 16 Makkeda, Bethel, 17 Tappuach, Hefer, 18 Afek, Scharon^[1], 19 Madon, Hazor, 20 Schimron-Meron, Achschaf, 21 Taanach, Megiddo, 22 Kedesch, Jokneam am Karmel, 23 Dor an der Küste, Gojim in Galiläa^[2] 24 und Tirza. Insgesamt waren es 31 Könige.
