1 De HERE is de eeuwige Koning. Laten alle volken dat goed beseffen en eerbied voor Hem hebben. Zijn troon is boven de cherubs. De aarde is aan Hem onderworpen en moet zich met diep ontzag onder Hem stellen. 2 De HERE woont in Jeruzalem. Hij is hoog verheven boven alle volken. 3 Laten zij daarom ook uw grote en heilige naam prijzen. God is een heilige God. 4 De koning, door U aangesteld, houdt van eerlijke rechtspraak. U hebt het volk een zuivere wet gegeven. U hebt het een rechtvaardige wetgeving geschonken. 5 Maak de HERE, onze God, groot. Onderwerp u aan Hem en buig voor Hem neer. Alleen Hij is heilig. 6 Mozes en Aäron waren zijn eerste priesters en ook Samuël kende Hem bij zijn naam. Zij gingen vertrouwelijk met Hem om en als zij Hem riepen, antwoordde Hij hun. 7 Hij sprak met hen in de wolkkolom, zij hebben altijd gedaan wat Hij zei. Zijn woord was voor hen wet. 8 HERE, U hebt hun altijd antwoord gegeven. O mijn God, U hebt hun altijd vergeven, hoewel U wel strafte als dat nodig was. 9 Maak de naam van de HERE, onze God, groot. Onderwerp u aan Hem en buig voor Hem neer, want de HERE, onze God, is een heilige God.

1 The Lord reigns; let the peoples tremble! He sits enthroned upon the cherubim; let the earth quake! (1 Kron 16:31; Ps 80:1; Ps 93:1; Ps 96:9; Jes 24:19) 2 The Lord is great in Zion; he is exalted over all the peoples. (Ps 92:8; Ps 93:4; Ps 113:4; Jes 24:23) 3 Let them praise your great and awesome name! Holy is he! (Deut 28:58; Joz 24:19; Ps 111:9; Jes 6:3; Op 15:4) 4 The King in his might loves justice.[1] You have established equity; you have executed justice and righteousness in Jacob. (Job 36:5; Ps 11:7; Ps 99:1; Jes 61:8) 5 Exalt the Lord our God; worship at his footstool! Holy is he! (Ex 15:2; 1 Kron 28:2; Ps 99:3; Ps 107:32; Ps 118:28; Ps 132:7; Jes 25:1; Jes 60:13; Klaagl 2:1; Ez 43:7) 6 Moses and Aaron were among his priests, Samuel also was among those who called upon his name. They called to the Lord, and he answered them. (Ex 14:15; Ex 17:11; Ex 24:6; Ex 32:30; Ex 40:22; Lev 8:1; Num 12:13; Num 16:48; Deut 9:18; 1 Sam 7:9; 1 Sam 12:18; Ps 105:1; Ps 106:23; Jer 15:1) 7 In the pillar of the cloud he spoke to them; they kept his testimonies and the statute that he gave them. (Ex 33:9; Num 12:5; Ps 105:28) 8 O Lord our God, you answered them; you were a forgiving God to them, but an avenger of their wrongdoings. (Ex 32:35; Num 14:20; Num 20:12; Deut 9:20; Jer 46:28) 9 Exalt the Lord our God, and worship at his holy mountain; for the Lord our God is holy! (Ps 2:6)
