Psalm 146

1 Prijs de HERE! Laat alles in mij de HERE prijzen! 2 Ik wil de HERE eren zolang ik leef. Ik wil psalmen zingen voor mijn God, zolang ik daarvoor de adem heb. 3 Stel uw vertrouwen niet op machthebbers. Zij kunnen u niet redden. 4 Want als zulke mensen sterven, blazen zij de laatste adem uit en bestaan niet meer. Vanaf dat moment kunnen zij niets meer doen. 5 Gelukkig is hij die zijn hulp ontvangt van de God van Jakob, die alles verwacht van de HERE, zijn God. 6 Want God heeft de hemelen en de aarde gemaakt en de zeeën met alles wat daarin zwemt. Hij is trouw tot over de grenzen van de dood heen. 7 Hij doet recht aan onderdrukte mensen en geeft voedsel aan wie honger lijden. De HERE bevrijdt de gevangenen van hun boeien. 8 De HERE laat blinden weer zien en beurt mensen op die gebukt gaan onder zorgen. Hij houdt van oprechte mensen. 9 De HERE beschermt mensen die in een ander land vertoeven en Hij zorgt voor weduwen en wezen. Ongelovigen helpt Hij echter niet. Hun wegen maakt Hij tot dwaalwegen. 10 De HERE is Koning tot in eeuwigheid. Jeruzalem, uw God is er voor elke nieuwe generatie. Prijs de HERE!

Put Not Your Trust in Princes

1 Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord, O my soul! (Ps 135:1) 2 I will praise the Lord as long as I live; I will sing praises to my God while I have my being. 5 Blessed is he whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the Lord his God, (Ps 2:12; Ps 119:116; Ps 144:15) 6 who made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, who keeps faith forever; (Ps 100:5; Ps 115:15; Ps 117:2) 7 who executes justice for the oppressed, who gives food to the hungry.
