Die Versuchung Jesu

1 Erfüllt vom Heiligen Geist, kehrte Jesus vom Jordan zurück. Er wurde vom Geist in der Wüste umhergeführt, (Mt 4,1; Mk 1,12) 2 vierzig Tage lang, und er wurde vom Teufel versucht. In jenen Tagen aß er nichts; als sie aber vorüber waren, hungerte ihn. 3 Da sagte der Teufel zu ihm: Wenn du Gottes Sohn bist, so befiehl diesem Stein, zu Brot zu werden. 4 Jesus antwortete ihm: Es steht geschrieben: Der Mensch lebt nicht vom Brot allein. (5Mo 8,3) 5 Da führte ihn der Teufel hinauf und zeigte ihm in einem Augenblick alle Reiche des Erdkreises. 6 Und er sagte zu ihm: All die Macht und Herrlichkeit dieser Reiche will ich dir geben; denn sie sind mir überlassen und ich gebe sie, wem ich will. 7 Wenn du dich vor mir niederwirfst und mich anbetest, wird dir alles gehören. 8 Jesus antwortete ihm: Es steht geschrieben: Vor dem Herrn, deinem Gott, sollst du dich niederwerfen und ihm allein dienen. (5Mo 5,9; 5Mo 6,13) 9 Darauf führte ihn der Teufel nach Jerusalem, stellte ihn oben auf den Tempel und sagte zu ihm: Wenn du Gottes Sohn bist, so stürz dich von hier hinab; 10 denn es steht geschrieben: Seinen Engeln befiehlt er deinetwegen, dich zu behüten; (Ps 91,11) 11 und: Sie werden dich auf ihren Händen tragen, / damit dein Fuß nicht an einen Stein stößt. 12 Da antwortete ihm Jesus: Es ist gesagt: Du sollst den Herrn, deinen Gott, nicht auf die Probe stellen. (5Mo 6,16) 13 Nach diesen Versuchungen ließ der Teufel bis zur bestimmten Zeit von ihm ab.

DAS WIRKEN JESU IN GALILÄA

Erstes Auftreten in Galiläa

14 Jesus kehrte, erfüllt von der Kraft des Geistes, nach Galiläa zurück. Und die Kunde von ihm verbreitete sich in der ganzen Gegend. (Mt 4,12; Mk 1,14; Lk 4,37; Lk 5,15)

Die Antrittsrede in Nazaret

16 So kam er auch nach Nazaret, wo er aufgewachsen war, und ging, wie gewohnt, am Sabbat in die Synagoge. Als er aufstand, um vorzulesen, (Mt 13,54; Mk 6,1) 17 reichte man ihm die Buchrolle des Propheten Jesaja. Er öffnete sie und fand die Stelle, wo geschrieben steht: 18 Der Geist des Herrn ruht auf mir; / denn er hat mich gesalbt. Er hat mich gesandt, / damit ich den Armen eine frohe Botschaft bringe; damit ich den Gefangenen die Entlassung verkünde / und den Blinden das Augenlicht; damit ich die Zerschlagenen in Freiheit setze (Jes 29,18; Jes 58,6; Jes 61,1) 19 und ein Gnadenjahr des Herrn ausrufe. 20 Dann schloss er die Buchrolle, gab sie dem Synagogendiener und setzte sich. Die Augen aller in der Synagoge waren auf ihn gerichtet. 21 Da begann er, ihnen darzulegen: Heute hat sich das Schriftwort, das ihr eben gehört habt, erfüllt. 22 Alle stimmten ihm zu; sie staunten über die Worte der Gnade, die aus seinem Mund hervorgingen, und sagten: Ist das nicht Josefs Sohn? (Joh 6,42) 23 Da entgegnete er ihnen: Sicher werdet ihr mir das Sprichwort vorhalten: Arzt, heile dich selbst! Wenn du in Kafarnaum so große Dinge getan hast, wie wir gehört haben, dann tu sie auch hier in deiner Heimat! 24 Und er setzte hinzu: Amen, ich sage euch: Kein Prophet wird in seiner Heimat anerkannt. (Joh 4,44) 25 Wahrhaftig, das sage ich euch: In Israel gab es viele Witwen in den Tagen des Elija, als der Himmel für drei Jahre und sechs Monate verschlossen war und eine große Hungersnot über das ganze Land kam. (1Kön 17,1; Jak 5,17) 26 Aber zu keiner von ihnen wurde Elija gesandt, nur zu einer Witwe in Sarepta bei Sidon. (1Kön 17,8) 27 Und viele Aussätzige gab es in Israel zur Zeit des Propheten Elischa. Aber keiner von ihnen wurde geheilt, nur der Syrer Naaman. (2Kön 5,1) 28 Als die Leute in der Synagoge das hörten, gerieten sie alle in Wut. 29 Sie sprangen auf und trieben Jesus zur Stadt hinaus; sie brachten ihn an den Abhang des Berges, auf dem ihre Stadt erbaut war, und wollten ihn hinabstürzen. 30 Er aber schritt mitten durch sie hindurch und ging weg.

Heilungen in Kafarnaum

31 Jesus ging hinab nach Kafarnaum, einer Stadt in Galiläa, und lehrte die Menschen am Sabbat. (Mt 8,14; Mk 1,21) 32 Sie waren außer sich vor Staunen über seine Lehre, denn er redete mit Vollmacht. (Mt 7,28) 33 In der Synagoge war ein Mensch, der von einem Dämon, einem unreinen Geist, besessen war. Der schrie mit lauter Stimme: 34 He, du, was haben wir mit dir zu tun, Jesus von Nazaret? Bist du gekommen, um uns ins Verderben zu stürzen? Ich weiß, wer du bist: der Heilige Gottes! (Mt 8,29; Mk 5,7; Lk 8,28) 35 Da drohte ihm Jesus: Schweig und verlass ihn! Der Dämon warf den Mann in ihre Mitte und verließ ihn, ohne ihm zu schaden. 36 Da waren alle erschrocken und einer fragte den andern: Was ist das für ein Wort? Mit Vollmacht und Kraft befiehlt er den unreinen Geistern und sie fliehen. 37 Und sein Ruf verbreitete sich in der ganzen Gegend. (Lk 4,14; Lk 5,15) 38 Jesus stand auf, verließ die Synagoge und ging in das Haus des Simon. Die Schwiegermutter des Simon aber hatte hohes Fieber und sie baten ihn für sie. 39 Er beugte sich über sie und gebot dem Fieber. Da wich es von ihr und sie stand sofort auf und diente ihnen. 40 Als die Sonne unterging, brachten die Leute ihre Kranken, die alle möglichen Gebrechen hatten, zu Jesus. Er legte jedem von ihnen die Hände auf und heilte sie. 41 Von vielen fuhren auch Dämonen aus und schrien: Du bist der Sohn Gottes! Da drohte er ihnen und ließ sie nicht reden; denn sie wussten, dass er der Christus war. (Mt 8,29; Mk 3,11)

Aufbruch zur weiteren Verkündigung der Gottesherrschaft

42 Bei Tagesanbruch verließ er die Stadt und ging an einen einsamen Ort. Aber die Menschen suchten ihn; und sie kamen zu ihm hin und wollten ihn festhalten, damit er nicht von ihnen wegginge. (Mk 1,38) 43 Er sagte zu ihnen: Ich muss auch den anderen Städten das Evangelium vom Reich Gottes verkünden; denn dazu bin ich gesandt worden. 44 Und er verkündete in den Synagogen Judäas.

Jesus is tempted in the desert

1 Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, left the River Jordan. The Spirit led him into the desert. 2 There the devil tempted him for 40 days. Jesus ate nothing during that time. At the end of the 40 days, he was hungry. 3 The devil said to him, ‘If you are the Son of God, tell this stone to become bread.’ 4 Jesus answered, ‘It is written, “Man must not live only on bread.” ’ (5Mo 8,3) 5 Then the devil led Jesus up to a high place. In an instant, he showed Jesus all the kingdoms of the world. 6 He said to Jesus, ‘I will give you all their authority and glory. It has been given to me, and I can give it to anyone I want to. 7 If you worship me, it will all be yours.’ 8 Jesus answered, ‘It is written, “Worship the Lord your God. He is the only one you should serve.” ’ (5Mo 6,13) 9 Then the devil led Jesus to Jerusalem. He had Jesus stand on the highest point of the temple. ‘If you are the Son of God,’ he said, ‘throw yourself down from here. 10 It is written, ‘ “The Lord will command his angels to take good care of you. 11 They will lift you up in their hands. Then you won’t trip over a stone.” ’ (Ps 91,11; Ps 91,12) 12 Jesus answered, ‘Scripture says, “Do not test the Lord your God.” ’ (5Mo 6,16) 13 When the devil finished all this tempting, he left Jesus until a better time.

Jesus is not accepted in Nazareth

14 Jesus returned to Galilee in the power of the Holy Spirit. News about him spread through the whole countryside. 15 He was teaching in their synagogues, and everyone praised him. 16 Jesus went to Nazareth, where he had been brought up. On the Sabbath day he went into the synagogue as he usually did. He stood up to read. 17 And the scroll of Isaiah the prophet was handed to him. Jesus unrolled it and found the right place. There it is written, 18 ‘The Spirit of the Lord is on me. He has anointed me to announce the good news to poor people. He has sent me to announce freedom for prisoners. He has sent me so that the blind will see again. He wants me to set free those who are treated badly. 19 And he has sent me to announce the year when he will set his people free.’ (Jes 61,1; Jes 61,2) 20 Then Jesus rolled up the scroll. He gave it back to the attendant and sat down. The eyes of everyone in the synagogue were staring at him. 21 He began by saying to them, ‘Today this passage of Scripture is coming true as you listen.’ 22 Everyone said good things about him. They were amazed at the gracious words they heard from his lips. ‘Isn’t this Joseph’s son?’ they asked. 23 Jesus said, ‘Here is a saying you will certainly apply to me. “Doctor, heal yourself!” And you will tell me this. “Do the things here in your home town that we heard you did in Capernaum.” ’ 24 ‘What I’m about to tell you is true,’ he continued. ‘A prophet is not accepted in his home town. 25 I tell you for sure that there were many widows in Israel in the days of Elijah. And there had been no rain for three and a half years. There wasn’t enough food to eat anywhere in the land. 26 But Elijah was not sent to any of those widows. Instead, he was sent to a widow in Zarephath near Sidon. 27 And there were many in Israel who had skin diseases in the days of Elisha the prophet. But not one of them was healed except Naaman the Syrian.’ 28 All the people in the synagogue were very angry when they heard that. 29 They got up and ran Jesus out of town. They took him to the edge of the hill on which the town was built. They planned to throw him off the cliff. 30 But Jesus walked right through the crowd and went on his way.

Jesus drives out an evil spirit

31 Then Jesus went to Capernaum, a town in Galilee. On the Sabbath day he taught the people. 32 They were amazed at his teaching, because his words had authority. 33 In the synagogue there was a man controlled by a demon, an evil spirit. He cried out at the top of his voice. 34 ‘Go away!’ he said. ‘What do you want with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are. You are the Holy One of God!’ 35 ‘Be quiet!’ Jesus said firmly. ‘Come out of him!’ Then the demon threw the man down in front of everybody. And it came out without hurting him. 36 All the people were amazed. They said to each other, ‘What he says is amazing! With authority and power he gives orders to evil spirits. And they come out!’ 37 The news about Jesus spread throughout the whole area.

Jesus heals many people

38 Jesus left the synagogue and went to the home of Simon. At that time, Simon’s mother-in-law was suffering from a high fever. So they asked Jesus to help her. 39 He bent over her and commanded the fever to leave, and it left her. She got up right away and began to serve them. 40 At sunset, people brought to Jesus all who were ill. He placed his hands on each one and healed them. 41 Also, demons came out of many people. The demons shouted, ‘You are the Son of God!’ But he commanded them to be quiet. He would not allow them to speak, because they knew he was the Messiah. 42 At dawn, Jesus went out to a place where he could be by himself. The people went to look for him. When they found him, they tried to keep him from leaving them. 43 But he said, ‘I must announce the good news of God’s kingdom to the other towns also. That is why I was sent.’ 44 And he kept on preaching in the synagogues of Judea.
