1 HERR, warum bleibst du so fern, verbirgst dich in Zeiten der Not? 2 Voller Hochmut verfolgt der Frevler den Elenden. Sie sollen sich fangen in den Ränken, die sie selbst ersonnen. 3 Denn der Frevler hat sich gerühmt nach Herzenslust, der Gierige hat gelästert und den HERRN verachtet. 4 Überheblich sagt der Frevler: Gott ahndet nicht. Es gibt keinen Gott. So ist sein ganzes Denken. (Ps 14,1) 5 Zu jeder Zeit glücken ihm seine Wege. / Hoch droben und fern von sich wähnt er deine Gerichte. Alle seine Gegner faucht er an. 6 Er sagt in seinem Herzen: Ich werde niemals wanken. Von Geschlecht zu Geschlecht trifft mich kein Unglück.^[1] 7 Sein Mund ist voll Fluch und Trug und Gewalttat, auf seiner Zunge sind Verderben und Unheil. (Röm 3,14) 8 Er liegt auf der Lauer in den Gehöften / und will den Schuldlosen heimlich ermorden; seine Augen spähen aus nach dem Schwachen. (Ps 11,2) 9 Er lauert im Versteck wie ein Löwe im Dickicht, / er lauert darauf, den Elenden zu fangen; er fängt den Elenden und zieht ihn in sein Netz. (Ps 17,12) 10 Er duckt sich und kauert sich nieder, seine Übermacht bringt die Schwachen zu Fall.^[2] 11 Er sagt in seinem Herzen: Gott hat vergessen, hat sein Angesicht verborgen, niemals sieht er. 12 HERR, steh auf, Gott, erheb deine Hand, vergiss die Elenden nicht! 13 Warum darf der Frevler Gott verachten und in seinem Herzen sagen: Du ahndest nicht? 14 Du, ja du, hast Mühsal und Kummer gesehen! Schau hin und nimm es in deine Hand! Dir überlässt es der Schwache, der Waise bist du ein Helfer geworden. 15 Zerbrich den Arm des Frevlers und des Bösen, / ahnde seinen Frevel, sodass man von ihm nichts mehr findet. 16 Der HERR ist König für immer und ewig, verschwunden sind Nationen aus seinem Land. (Ps 24,7) 17 Die Sehnsucht der Elenden hast du gehört, HERR, du stärkst ihr Herz, dein Ohr nimmt wahr, 18 Recht zu verschaffen der Waise und dem Bedrückten. Why Do You Hide Yourself?

1 Why, O Lord, do you stand far away? Why do you hide yourself in times of trouble? (Ps 9,9; Ps 13,1; Ps 22,1; Ps 22,11; Ps 22,19; Ps 35,22; Ps 38,21)

2 In arrogance the wicked hotly pursue the poor; let them be caught in the schemes that they have devised. (Ps 7,15) 3 For the wicked boasts of the desires of his soul, and the one greedy for gain curses^[1] and renounces the Lord. (Hi 1,5; Hi 1,11; Ps 10,13; Ps 94,4; Jes 3,9)

8 He sits in ambush in the villages; in hiding places he murders the innocent. His eyes stealthily watch for the helpless; (Ps 17,12; Ps 64,4; Hab 3,14) 9 he lurks in ambush like a lion in his thicket; he lurks that he may seize the poor; he seizes the poor when he draws him into his net. Il castigo dell’empio

1 O Signore, perché te ne stai lontano? Perché ti nascondi in tempo d’angoscia? 2 L’empio nella sua superbia perseguita con furore i miseri; essi rimangono presi nelle insidie tese dai malvagi; 3 poiché l’empio si gloria delle brame dell’anima sua, benedice il rapace e disprezza il Signore. 4 L’empio, con viso altero, dice: «Il Signore non farà inchieste». Tutti i suoi pensieri sono: «Non c’è Dio!» 5 Le sue vie son prospere in ogni tempo; cosa troppo alta per lui sono i tuoi giudizi; con un soffio egli disperde tutti i suoi nemici. 6 Egli dice in cuor suo: «Non sarò mai smosso; d’età in età non m’accadrà male alcuno». 7 La sua bocca è piena di maledizione, di frodi e di violenza; sotto la sua lingua c’è malizia e iniquità. 8 Egli sta in agguato nei villaggi, uccide l’innocente in luoghi nascosti; i suoi occhi spiano il misero. 9 Sta in agguato nel suo nascondiglio come un leone nella sua tana, sta in agguato per sorprendere il misero; egli sorprende lo sventurato trascinandolo nella sua rete. 10 Se ne sta quatto e chino, e gli infelici soccombono alla sua forza. 11 Dice in cuor suo: «Dio dimentica, nasconde la sua faccia, non vedrà mai». 12 Ergiti, o Signore! O Dio, alza la tua mano! Non dimenticare i miseri. 13 Perché l’empio disprezza Dio? Perché dice in cuor suo: «Non ne chiederà conto»? 14 Invece tu hai visto; poiché tu guardi la malvagità e l’oppressione per poi ripagare con la tua mano. A te si abbandona il misero; tu sei il sostegno dell’orfano. 15 Spezza il braccio dell’empio e del malvagio; chiedi conto della sua empietà, finché tu non ne trovi più. 16 Il Signore è re in eterno; le nazioni sono state sterminate dalla sua terra. 17 O Signore, tu esaudisci il desiderio degli umili; tu fortifichi il cuor loro, porgi il tuo orecchio 18 per rendere giustizia all’orfano e all’oppresso, affinché l’uomo, che è fatto di terra, cessi d’incutere spavento.
