Die Wehe-Rufe gegen die Schriftgelehrten und Pharisäer
1Darauf sprach Jesus zum Volk und zu seinen Jüngern (Mk 12,37; Lk 11,39; Lk 20,45)2und sagte: Auf dem Stuhl des Mose sitzen die Schriftgelehrten und die Pharisäer.3Tut und befolgt also alles, was sie euch sagen, aber richtet euch nicht nach ihren Taten; denn sie reden nur, tun es aber nicht. (Mal 2,7)4Sie schnüren schwere und unerträgliche Lasten zusammen und legen sie den Menschen auf die Schultern, selber aber wollen sie keinen Finger rühren, um die Lasten zu bewegen.5Alles, was sie tun, tun sie, um von den Menschen gesehen zu werden: Sie machen ihre Gebetsriemen breit und die Quasten an ihren Gewändern lang, (2Mo 13,9; 4Mo 15,38)6sie lieben den Ehrenplatz bei den Gastmählern und die Ehrensitze in den Synagogen7und wenn man sie auf den Marktplätzen grüßt und die Leute sie Rabbi nennen.8Ihr aber sollt euch nicht Rabbi nennen lassen; denn nur einer ist euer Meister, ihr alle aber seid Brüder. (Joh 13,13)9Auch sollt ihr niemanden auf Erden euren Vater nennen; denn nur einer ist euer Vater, der im Himmel.10Auch sollt ihr euch nicht Lehrer nennen lassen; denn nur einer ist euer Lehrer, Christus.11Der Größte von euch soll euer Diener sein. (Mt 20,26; Mk 9,35; Mk 10,43; Lk 9,48; Lk 22,26)12Denn wer sich selbst erhöht, wird erniedrigt, und wer sich selbst erniedrigt, wird erhöht werden. (Lk 14,11; Lk 18,14)13-14Weh euch, ihr Schriftgelehrten und Pharisäer, ihr Heuchler! Ihr verschließt den Menschen das Himmelreich. Denn ihr selbst geht nicht hinein und lasst die nicht hinein, die hineingehen wollen.[1]15Weh euch, ihr Schriftgelehrten und Pharisäer, ihr Heuchler! Ihr zieht über Land und Meer, um einen einzigen Menschen für euren Glauben zu gewinnen; und wenn er gewonnen ist, dann macht ihr ihn zu einem Sohn der Hölle, doppelt so schlimm wie ihr selbst.16Weh euch, ihr seid blinde Führer! Ihr sagt: Wenn einer beim Tempel schwört, gilt es nicht, wenn er aber beim Gold des Tempels schwört, gilt es. (Mt 5,34)17Ihr blinden Narren! Was ist wichtiger: das Gold oder der Tempel, der das Gold erst heilig macht?18Auch sagt ihr: Wenn einer beim Altar schwört, gilt es nicht, wenn er aber bei dem Opfer schwört, das auf dem Altar liegt, gilt es.19Ihr Blinden! Was ist wichtiger: das Opfer oder der Altar, der das Opfer erst heilig macht?20Wer beim Altar schwört, der schwört bei ihm und bei allem, was darauf liegt.21Und wer beim Tempel schwört, der schwört bei ihm und bei dem, der darin wohnt.22Und wer beim Himmel schwört, der schwört beim Thron Gottes und bei dem, der darauf sitzt.23Weh euch, ihr Schriftgelehrten und Pharisäer, ihr Heuchler! Ihr gebt den Zehnten von Minze, Dill und Kümmel und lasst das Wichtigste im Gesetz außer Acht: Recht, Barmherzigkeit und Treue. Man muss das eine tun, ohne das andere zu lassen. (3Mo 27,30)24Blinde Führer seid ihr: Ihr siebt die Mücke aus und verschluckt das Kamel.25Weh euch, ihr Schriftgelehrten und Pharisäer, ihr Heuchler! Ihr haltet Becher und Schüsseln außen sauber, innen aber sind sie voll von Raffsucht und Gier. (Mk 7,4)26Du blinder Pharisäer! Mach den Becher zuerst innen sauber, dann ist er auch außen rein.27Weh euch, ihr Schriftgelehrten und Pharisäer, ihr Heuchler! Ihr seid wie getünchte Gräber, die von außen schön aussehen, innen aber voll sind von Knochen der Toten und aller Unreinheit. (Apg 23,3)28So erscheint auch ihr von außen den Menschen gerecht, innen aber seid ihr voll Heuchelei und Gesetzlosigkeit. (Lk 16,15)29Weh euch, ihr Schriftgelehrten und Pharisäer, ihr Heuchler! Ihr errichtet den Propheten Grabstätten und schmückt die Denkmäler der Gerechten30und sagt dabei: Wenn wir in den Tagen unserer Väter gelebt hätten, wären wir nicht wie sie am Blut der Propheten schuldig geworden. (Mt 5,12; Apg 7,52; 1Thess 2,15)31Damit bestätigt ihr selbst, dass ihr die Söhne der Prophetenmörder seid.32Macht nur das Maß eurer Väter voll!33Ihr Nattern, ihr Schlangenbrut! Wie wollt ihr dem Strafgericht der Hölle entrinnen? (Mt 3,7; Mt 12,34)34Darum siehe, ich sende Propheten, Weise und Schriftgelehrte zu euch; ihr aber werdet einige von ihnen töten und kreuzigen, andere in euren Synagogen auspeitschen und von Stadt zu Stadt verfolgen.35So wird all das unschuldige Blut über euch kommen, das auf Erden vergossen worden ist, vom Blut Abels, des Gerechten, bis zum Blut des Zacharias, Barachias Sohn, den ihr zwischen dem Tempelgebäude und dem Altar ermordet habt. (1Mo 4,8; 2Chr 24,20)36Amen, ich sage euch: Das alles wird über diese Generation kommen.37Jerusalem, Jerusalem, du tötest die Propheten und steinigst die Boten, die zu dir gesandt sind. Wie oft wollte ich deine Kinder sammeln, so wie eine Henne ihre Küken unter ihre Flügel nimmt; aber ihr habt nicht gewollt. (Lk 13,34)38Siehe, euer Haus wird euch öde gelassen. (Ps 69,26; Jer 12,7; Jer 22,5)39Und ich sage euch: Von jetzt an werdet ihr mich nicht mehr sehen, bis ihr ruft: Gepriesen sei er, der kommt im Namen des Herrn! (Ps 118,26; Mt 21,9)

Gesù condanna gli scribi e i farisei
1Allora Gesù parlò alla folla e ai suoi discepoli,2dicendo: «Gli scribi e i farisei siedono sulla cattedra di Mosè.3Fate dunque e osservate tutte le cose che vi diranno, ma non fate secondo le loro opere; perché dicono e non fanno.4Infatti legano dei fardelli pesanti {e difficili da portare} e li mettono sulle spalle della gente; ma loro non li vogliono muovere neppure con un dito.5Tutte le loro opere le fanno per essere osservati dagli uomini; infatti allargano le loro filatterie[1] e allungano le frange[2] dei loro mantelli;6amano i primi posti nei conviti, i primi seggi nelle sinagoghe,7i saluti nelle piazze ed essere chiamati dalla gente: “Rabbì!”8Ma voi non vi fate chiamare “Rabbì”; perché uno solo è il vostro Maestro e voi siete tutti fratelli.9Non chiamate nessuno sulla terra vostro padre, perché uno solo è il Padre vostro, quello che è nei cieli.10Non vi fate chiamare guide, perché una sola è la vostra guida, il Cristo;11ma il maggiore tra di voi sia vostro servitore.12Chiunque si innalzerà sarà abbassato e chiunque si abbasserà sarà innalzato».13Ma guai a voi, scribi e farisei ipocriti, perché serrate il regno dei cieli davanti alla gente; poiché non vi entrate voi, né lasciate entrare quelli che cercano di entrare.14[Guai a voi, scribi e farisei ipocriti, perché divorate le case delle vedove e fate lunghe preghiere per mettervi in mostra; perciò riceverete una maggiore condanna.]15Guai a voi, scribi e farisei ipocriti, perché viaggiate per mare e per terra per fare un proselito; e quando lo avete fatto, lo rendete figlio della geenna il doppio di voi.16Guai a voi, guide cieche, che dite: “Se uno giura per il tempio, non importa; ma se giura per l’oro del tempio, resta obbligato”.17Stolti e ciechi! Che cosa è più grande: l’offerta o l’altare che santifica l’offerta?20Chi dunque giura per l’altare, giura per esso e per tutto quello che c’è sopra;21e chi giura per il tempio, giura per esso e per Colui che lo abita;22e chi giura per il cielo, giura per il trono di Dio e per Colui che vi siede sopra.23Guai a voi, scribi e farisei ipocriti, perché pagate la decima della menta, dell’aneto e del comino e trascurate le cose più importanti della legge: il giudizio, la misericordia e la fede. Queste sono le cose che bisognava fare, senza tralasciare le altre.24Guide cieche, che filtrate il moscerino[3] e inghiottite il cammello!25Guai a voi, scribi e farisei ipocriti, perché pulite l’esterno del bicchiere e del piatto, mentre dentro sono pieni di rapina e d’intemperanza.26Fariseo cieco, pulisci prima l’interno del bicchiere e del piatto, affinché anche l’esterno diventi pulito.27Guai a voi, scribi e farisei ipocriti, perché siete simili a sepolcri imbiancati, che appaiono belli di fuori, ma dentro sono pieni d’ossa di morti e d’ogni immondizia.28Così anche voi, di fuori sembrate giusti alla gente, ma dentro siete pieni d’ipocrisia e d’iniquità.29Guai a voi, scribi e farisei ipocriti, perché costruite i sepolcri ai profeti e adornate le tombe dei giusti30e dite: “Se fossimo vissuti ai tempi dei nostri padri, non saremmo stati loro complici nello spargere il sangue dei profeti!”31In tal modo voi testimoniate contro voi stessi, di essere figli di coloro che uccisero i profeti.32E colmate pure la misura dei vostri padri!33Serpenti, razza di vipere, come scamperete al giudizio della geenna?34Perciò ecco, io vi mando dei profeti, dei saggi e degli scribi; di questi, alcuni ne ucciderete e metterete in croce; altri ne flagellerete nelle vostre sinagoghe e li perseguiterete di città in città,35affinché ricada su di voi tutto il sangue giusto sparso sulla terra, dal sangue del giusto Abele, fino al sangue di Zaccaria, figlio di Berechia, che voi uccideste fra il tempio e l’altare.36Io vi dico in verità che tutto ciò ricadrà su questa generazione.

37«Gerusalemme, Gerusalemme, che uccidi i profeti e lapidi quelli che ti sono mandati, quante volte ho voluto raccogliere i tuoi figli, come la chioccia raccoglie i suoi pulcini sotto le ali; e voi non avete voluto!38Ecco, la vostra casa sta per esservi lasciata deserta.39Infatti vi dico che da ora in avanti non mi vedrete più, finché non direte: “Benedetto colui che viene nel nome del Signore!”[4]».
