1Die ganze Gemeinde der Israeliten zog von der Wüste Sin weiter, einen Tagesmarsch nach dem anderen, wie es der HERR jeweils bestimmte. In Refidim schlugen sie ihr Lager auf, aber das Volk hatte kein Wasser zu trinken. (4Mo 33,12)2Da geriet es mit Mose in Streit und sagte: Gebt uns Wasser zu trinken! Mose antwortete ihnen: Was streitet ihr mit mir? Warum stellt ihr den HERRN auf die Probe?3Das Volk dürstete dort nach Wasser und murrte gegen Mose. Sie sagten: Wozu hast du uns überhaupt aus Ägypten heraufgeführt, um mich und meine Söhne und mein Vieh vor Durst sterben zu lassen?4Mose schrie zum HERRN: Was soll ich mit diesem Volk anfangen? Es fehlt nur wenig und sie steinigen mich.5Der HERR antwortete Mose: Geh am Volk vorbei und nimm einige von den Ältesten Israels mit; nimm auch den Stab in die Hand, mit dem du auf den Nil geschlagen hast, und geh!6Siehe, dort drüben auf dem Felsen am Horeb werde ich vor dir stehen. Dann schlag an den Felsen! Es wird Wasser herauskommen und das Volk kann trinken. Das tat Mose vor den Augen der Ältesten Israels.7Den Ort nannte er Massa und Meriba, Probe und Streit, weil die Israeliten gehadert und den HERRN auf die Probe gestellt hatten, indem sie sagten: Ist der HERR in unserer Mitte oder nicht? (4Mo 20,7; 4Mo 20,13; 5Mo 6,16; 5Mo 9,22; 5Mo 33,8)
Rettung vor dem Krieg
8Und Amalek kam und suchte in Refidim den Kampf mit Israel.9Da sagte Mose zu Josua: Wähl uns Männer aus und zieh in den Kampf gegen Amalek! Ich selbst werde mich morgen mit dem Gottesstab in meiner Hand auf den Gipfel des Hügels stellen.10Josua tat, was ihm Mose aufgetragen hatte, und kämpfte gegen Amalek, während Mose, Aaron und Hur auf den Gipfel des Hügels stiegen.11Solange Mose seine Hand erhoben hielt, war Israel stärker; sooft er aber die Hand sinken ließ, war Amalek stärker.12Als dem Mose die Hände schwer wurden, holten sie einen Steinbrocken, schoben den unter ihn und er setzte sich darauf. Aaron und Hur stützten seine Arme, der eine rechts, der andere links, sodass seine Hände erhoben blieben, bis die Sonne unterging.13So schwächte Josua Amalek und sein Heer mit scharfem Schwert.14Da sprach der HERR zu Mose: Schreibe das zum Gedächtnis in ein Buch und präge es Josua ein! Denn ich will die Erinnerung an Amalek unter dem Himmel austilgen.15Mose baute einen Altar und gab ihm den Namen: Der HERR ist mein Feldzeichen.16Er sagte: Die Hand an des HERRN Feldzeichen! Krieg ist zwischen dem HERRN und Amalek von Generation zu Generation.
1All the congregation of the people of Israel moved on from the wilderness of Sin by stages, according to the commandment of the LORD, and camped at Rephidim, but there was no water for the people to drink. (2Mo 7,20)6Behold, I will stand before you there on the rock at Horeb, and you shall strike the rock, and water shall come out of it, and the people will drink.” And Moses did so, in the sight of the elders of Israel. Israel Defeats Amalek
8Then Amalek came and fought with Israel at Rephidim. (5Mo 25,17; 1Sam 15,2)9So Moses said to Joshua, “Choose for us men, and go out and fight with Amalek. Tomorrow I will stand on the top of the hill with the staff of God in my hand.” (2Mo 4,20; 2Mo 24,13; 2Mo 32,17; 2Mo 33,11)10So Joshua did as Moses told him, and fought with Amalek, while Moses, Aaron, and Hur went up to the top of the hill. (2Mo 9,1; 2Mo 24,14; 2Mo 31,2)11Whenever Moses held up his hand, Israel prevailed, and whenever he lowered his hand, Amalek prevailed. (1Tim 2,8)12But Moses’ hands grew weary, so they took a stone and put it under him, and he sat on it, while Aaron and Hur held up his hands, one on one side, and the other on the other side. So his hands were steady until the going down of the sun. (2Mo 10,1)13And Joshua overwhelmed Amalek and his people with the sword. (2Mo 9,1)14Then the LORD said to Moses, “Write this as a memorial in a book and recite it in the ears of Joshua, that I will utterly blot out the memory of Amalek from under heaven.” (2Mo 9,1; 4Mo 24,20; 5Mo 25,19; 1Sam 15,3; 1Sam 15,7; 1Sam 30,1; 1Sam 30,17; 2Sam 8,12)15And Moses built an altar and called the name of it, The LORD Is My Banner, (Ri 6,24)16saying, “A hand upon the throne[3] of the LORD! L’acqua scaturita dalla roccia di Oreb
1Poi tutta la comunità dei figli d’Israele partì dal deserto di Sin, marciando a tappe secondo gli ordini del Signore. Si accampò a Refidim, ma non c’era acqua da bere per il popolo.2Allora il popolo protestò contro Mosè e disse: «Dacci dell’acqua da bere». Mosè rispose loro: «Perché protestate contro di me? Perché tentate il Signore?»3Là il popolo patì la sete e mormorò contro Mosè, dicendo: «Perché ci hai fatto uscire dall’Egitto per far morire di sete noi, i nostri figli e il nostro bestiame?»4Mosè gridò al Signore, dicendo: «Che cosa devo fare per questo popolo? Ancora un po’, e mi lapideranno».5Allora il Signore disse a Mosè: «Mettiti di fronte al popolo e prendi con te alcuni degli anziani d’Israele; prendi anche in mano il bastone col quale hai percosso il Fiume e va’.6Ecco io starò là davanti a te, sulla roccia che è in Oreb; tu colpirai la roccia: ne scaturirà dell’acqua e il popolo berrà». Mosè fece così in presenza degli anziani d’Israele,7e a quel luogo mise il nome di Massa e Meriba[1] a causa della protesta dei figli d’Israele, e perché avevano tentato il Signore, dicendo: «Il Signore è in mezzo a noi, sì o no?»
Vittoria su Amalec
8Allora venne Amalec per combattere contro Israele a Refidim.9E Mosè disse a Giosuè: «Scegli per noi alcuni uomini ed esci a combattere contro Amalec; domani io starò sulla vetta del colle con il bastone di Dio in mano».10Giosuè fece come Mosè gli aveva detto e combatté contro Amalec; e Mosè, Aaronne e Cur salirono sulla vetta del colle.11E quando Mosè teneva le mani alzate, Israele vinceva; e quando le abbassava, vinceva Amalec.12Ma le mani di Mosè si facevano pesanti. Allora essi presero una pietra, gliela posero sotto ed egli si sedette; Aaronne e Cur gli tenevano le mani alzate, uno da una parte e l’altro dall’altra. Così le sue mani rimasero ferme fino al tramonto del sole.13E Giosuè sconfisse Amalec e la sua gente passandoli a fil di spada.14Il Signore disse a Mosè: «Scrivi questo fatto in un libro, perché se ne conservi il ricordo, e fa’ sapere a Giosuè che io cancellerò interamente sotto il cielo la memoria di Amalec».15Allora Mosè costruì un altare che chiamò «il Signore è la mia bandiera»; e disse:16«Una mano s’è alzata contro il trono del Signore, perciò il Signore farà guerra ad Amalec di generazione in generazione».
