Psalm 97

The Lord reigns, let the earth rejoice; let the many coastlands be glad! (Ps 72:10; Ps 93:1; Ps 96:11) Clouds and thick darkness are all around him; righteousness and justice are the foundation of his throne. (Ex 19:9; De 4:11; De 5:22; 1Ki 8:12; Ps 18:11; Ps 89:14) Fire goes before him and burns up his adversaries all around. (Ps 21:9; Ps 50:3) His lightnings light up the world; the earth sees and trembles. (Ps 77:18; Ps 96:9) The mountains melt like wax before the Lord, before the Lord of all the earth. (Jos 3:11; Jud 5:5; Ps 68:2; Na 1:5) The heavens proclaim his righteousness, and all the peoples see his glory. (Ps 50:6; Ps 96:3; Isa 40:5; Isa 66:18) All worshipers of images are put to shame, who make their boast in worthless idols; worship him, all you gods! (Ps 96:5; Isa 42:17; Isa 44:9; Heb 1:6) Zion hears and is glad, and the daughters of Judah rejoice, because of your judgments, O Lord. He preserves the lives of his saints; he delivers them from the hand of the wicked.
