Psalm 86

English Standard Version

A Prayer of David. Incline your ear, O Lord, and answer me, for I am poor and needy. (Ps 31:2; Ps 40:17; Ps 72:20) Preserve my life, for I am godly; save your servant, who trusts in you—you are my God. (Ps 11:1; Ps 50:5) Be gracious to me, O Lord, for to you do I cry all the day. (Ps 4:1; Ps 56:1; Ps 57:1; Ps 86:16) Gladden the soul of your servant, for to you, O Lord, do I lift up my soul. (Ps 25:1) For you, O Lord, are good and forgiving, abounding in steadfast love to all who call upon you. (Ex 34:6; Ps 86:15; Ps 103:8; Ps 130:4; Ps 145:8; Joe 2:13) Give ear, O Lord, to my prayer; listen to my plea for grace. (Ps 55:1) In the day of my trouble I call upon you, for you answer me. (Ps 17:6; Ps 77:2) There is none like you among the gods, O Lord, nor are there any works like yours. (Ex 15:11; De 3:24; Ps 89:6) All the nations you have made shall come and worship before you, O Lord, and shall glorify your name. (Ps 22:31; Ps 65:2; Ps 66:4; Isa 66:23; Zec 14:18; Re 15:4) 10 For you are great and do wondrous things; you alone are God. (De 6:4; Ps 72:18; Ps 77:13; Isa 37:16; Isa 44:6; Isa 44:8; 1Co 8:4; 1Co 8:6) 11 Teach me your way, O Lord, that I may walk in your truth; unite my heart to fear your name. (Ps 25:4; Ps 26:3; Jer 32:39) 12 I give thanks to you, O Lord my God, with my whole heart, and I will glorify your name forever. 13 For great is your steadfast love toward me; you have delivered my soul from the depths of Sheol. (Ps 30:3; Ps 86:5; Ps 88:6; Eze 26:20) 14 O God, insolent men have risen up against me; a band of ruthless men seeks my life, and they do not set you before them. (Ps 54:3) 15 But you, O Lord, are a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness. (Nu 14:18; Ne 9:17; Ps 62:12; Ps 86:5; Ps 111:4; Ps 112:4; Jon 4:2) 16 Turn to me and be gracious to me; give your strength to your servant, and save the son of your maidservant. (Ps 25:16; Ps 116:16) 17 Show me a sign of your favor, that those who hate me may see and be put to shame because you, Lord, have helped me and comforted me. (Jud 6:17; Ne 5:19; Ne 13:31)
